Chicken and steak Rice Bowl with everything, basbousa
    Erik B.

Excellent take out shawarma experience here the other night. The place I had been planning on going to in Naperville closed earlier than I expected so I did a quick search and found this newish looking restaurant was only a 10 min drive south and that they were open until midnight. Everything on the menu sounded reallly good so I went ahead and tried to order through Toast but the order kept glitching out when I went to pay. Not sure if this was because it was already 11:15 or some other reason so I decided to just drive over and try my luck. They're located in nice strip mall next to an Eiffel Waffle and a Boba place and I was glad to see that there were still people ordering and dining in when I arrived. The restaurant is clean all around and the staff are very friendly. It was no problem and no extra charge to get a half steak and half chicken shawarma bowl with also both types of rice so that I could get a taste of everything which I really appreciated. The bowl was absolutely delicious. Nicely charred, well seasoned meat with great tasting rice (both the red and yellow) as well as fresh salad and veggies and some of the best shatta, tahini, and garlic sauce I've had yet. The hot sauce was the perfect balance of acidity and heat. Big serving sizes and canned drink included for $15.99. They had sensibly priced Dubai chocolate bars and basbousa at the register and I opted for the latter. It is good but maybe a little too reliant on coconut for my taste. In any case, I can't wait to stop by Hello Shawarma again. I think next time I'll give their fluffy pita a try. I had to fight pretty hard to avoid ordering one while watching them roll out while waiting for my order.

Ordered items ale cart to create my own bowl.

We recently tried this business for takeout. The order took a little longer than expected, but it was a larger order. My husband ordered the 3 piece chicken schnitzel with onion rings. The sizes of the tenders were huge, and the crispy breading was really tasty. We also ordered 1 lb of chicken shawarma, a couple sides of rice, a "salad bowl" of toppings, and a couple of pitas to make our own bowls at home. The shawarma was just OK - had a weird taste and the chicken could have used some char. We also tried the cheese sticks, which were very good. They have $90 family meals, but I would have appreciated something around $40 where I could feed my family. They do not carry fountain drinks, just cans/ bottles.

Up close pics of the lamb pita and falafel. Outstanding

Amazing. Will be back hands down. The falafel is fresh and green (good amount of parsley inside) and comes with garlic sauce. The lamb pita...a must try. I was torn with getting this or the Bashka, but so glad I tried the pita. Succulent tender pieces of lamb meat, and sure there's pieces of fat, but I'm glad it's there to remind me that this is real lamb. Next time will come back to try the Bashka. The workers were really nice on top of the fabulous food. They're next door to a coffee/boba shop as well.

Hello Shawarma is genuinely one of my favorite places in Bolingbrook. I need to branch out and try new things, but every time I come back I end up getting the steak shawarma wrap because it is THAT delicious. I got it with extra garlic sauce on the side once and it was amazing. It holds up well for takeout too! The service is great and the workers are super friendly. The system is clean and easy - they text when your order is ready and also call out your name. I hope to have online ordering in the future to make takeout easier, but for now I'm happy with the speedy creation of my meal.

This location is positioned on the corner with ample parking. Inside it is clean, makes good use of the space for indoor or outdoor dining, and the staff is friendly. The food is well seasoned, the right temp, and prepared when you order. The Mediterranean menu includes kids meals and chicken strips.

This is a nice, small Middle Eastern market compared to Souq Fresh Market in Lombard. Souq is very big. This market has a lot of unique Middle Eastern snacks that I've never seen before along with a kitchen that you can order lunch and dinner from. Lunch is served 10 am - 2 pm. I believe dinner is served from 2 pm to 9 pm. Don't quote me on the end dinner times. They have 3 tables that you can eat at. I came after 10:20 am and I ordered the chicken kufta lunch special, two different kinds of samosa, and kebabs. Prices were cheap, I got all of this for $25. They also have an area where you can get some fresh meat and deli items. Staff was friendly. Overall 4 out of 5. If they fixed the kebabs, it would easily be a 5. -chicken kufta lunch special 5 - he made this fresh. You get one pita bread with it. Meat was soft and tender. The rice and salad were very tasty. Huge portion. -samosas 5 - I got one beef and one potato. They were both delicious. -kebabs 3.5 - he gave me two big kebabs but they did not taste freshly made. I'm no stranger to kebabs and I usually like my kebabs to be tender and juicy. These were semi tough and kind of dry inside. I can see the spices in them but they would taste even better new.

Taste of Jerusalem is the kind of place that reminds you why you should never judge a restaurant by its zip code or its signage. Tucked into a perfectly forgettable strip mall in Plainfield, this little spot is quietly serving some of the best food in the area and I am genuinely annoyed it took me this long to find it. The chicken kabob plate was a revelation. Massive portions of beautifully marinated chicken laid over a split of white rice and spicy rice. That spicy rice deserves its own paragraph. Fragrant, deeply spiced, with a slow building heat that lingers just long enough to keep pulling you back for another bite. Addicting is the only word for it. The hummus was exactly what hummus should be, fresh, delicious, also addictive. I added falafel and pita and those falafel were genuinely among the best I have ever had. Perfectly cooked, not a trace of that greasy heaviness that ruins lesser versions. Just fragrant, spiced, crispy little bites that I genuinely savored. My partner got the chicken wrap and said every component worked together without competing, tasted fresh, and left him full without feeling heavy. High praise from a man who knows his way around a wrap. The space is clean and simple. You order from a kiosk. None of that matters because the husband and wife team running the grill are pouring obvious passion into every plate and it comes through in every single bite. Plainfield has a gem here. Treat it accordingly.

The most gracious and humble hosts - paying attention to every detail and stopping at nothing to bring whatever the customer wants to fruition. We don't realize that the place closes at 8:00 pm, and just kept chomping and socializing - they never once pointed it out to us. I begin with them because they were the friendliest folks, and their service was truly remarkable. Then comes the food - my goodness, the food. Let's begin with the Harira. Perfectly seasoned, but for me, it requires a little more salt (which is personal preference) and a pop of acid like lemon to bring out its true flavor. Overall, a really comforting, rich soup without being heavy or cloying. Then came the Moroccan seasoned potatoes - oooooweeee! These were little nuggets of pure deliciousness. Seasoned to perfection, crispy on the outside, soft and pillowy on the inside and every bite kept you wanting to go back for more. Then the lamb shank tagine - ummmm, excuse me?!?! What do you mean the meat is like butter? It literally falls off the bone and dissolves in your mouth. Rich, fatty, unctuous and truly a delight. The bed of couscous it came with was also great - made better by the sauce from the lamb shank. The highlight of this plate were the roasted prunes that are part of the sauce. Sweet, jammy prunes cooked into the sauce made them just truly a delightful mouthfeel in comparison to the couscous and the scrumptious meat. To top it all off, the cherry on top, is their comforting Moroccan mint tea. So very fresh and the perfect end to an absolutely DELIGHTFUL meal. Highly recommended!!!

The gentleman serving us seemed to be the only one there, but he was friendly. We ordered a taktouka sampler, mixed grill platter, and lamb shank tagine. If you go to a Moroccan restaurant, you've got to get tagine. It took a little while for the food to come out, but overall it was excellent. The taktouka sampler was full of veggies. It was tasty, but I wish the carrots were cooked more to soften them. The mixed grill platter had chicken and beef kabobs, as well as something like a kefta (ground meat) kabob. The meats and rice were good, although the beef and chicken could have been more tender and juicy. The white sauce was a nice accompaniment. The lamb shank was excellent; nice tender meat, tasty rice, and delicious supplemental flavors from the figs and apricots. Overall, a very nice lunch.

This is one of the more $$ entrées on the menu, but it's absolutely worth it. The portion was generous, the lamb was high quality, and the artichoke pesto paired really well with the rich, gamey flavor. The roasted pearl onions were a great addition too. I would definitely recommend this dish. * Foxtail paella: 8/10 flavorful orzo paella loaded with seafood. Definitely a sharing type of entree! Unfortunately when I went on a Friday afternoon the dining area was closed. Looked like they were filming and taking pictures. They were in the kitchen too. Anyway, I placed an order to go and less than 10 minutes later I was out the door. Ordered the BAM cheeseburger and small fries. A little pricey but then everything is. The mixture of beef and lamb is luxurious. Great blend and let's hear it for a good old fashioned char burger! The spices and sauce are subtle yet distinctive and unique. Wonderful flavors throughout. The fries are the larger/thick cut that I usually don't enjoy, but these were fried perfectly and had a great texture. Now I'm going to be nit picky on the build of the burger. And this is obviously personal preference. The burger patty is a generous size. However, the cheese was so melted and thin, I barely noticed. The onion was a raw white onion and also a generous cut. I would prefer a red onion or grill them. As it was, the onion kind of dominated the flavor. The tomato, pickles, and lettuce were all good, which added up to a tall build. Finally, a brioche bun. I know, the world loves a brioche bun. On a burger, I don't want the extra sweetness of brioche. Give me a good old potato bun or sesame seed bun instead. Nothing bad about any of the above. Great service, fast and friendly. I look forward to the dining room open and trying a gyro plate! I'll be back for sure.
