Nice place for the people who love to sing! Clean and nice sound system. They gave us bonus extra time. I enjoyed with my friends.

This style developed from the French-speaking Acadians who were chased out of Canada following the French and Indian War in the 18th century. They settled in Louisiana and adapted their cooking to the local ingredients. Located on Teaneck Road in Teaneck, we were recommended this establishment for their soft opening dinner by our friends. A reservation was made by calling this restaurant. Upon arrival, my partner, our friends, and I managed to find parking shared with other stores. We were excited to try out Creole / Cajun cuisine as first-timers at Medley's Bayou. For some of us, Cajun food usually has a kick to it. Contrary to popular belief, an authentically prepared Cajun dish does not involve eye-watering heat. Greeted by the host at the door, we made our way to a table inside their small, warm, and inviting vibe with a stage for live music. The selective menu features fresh, lively, made-to-order Louisiana-inspired classics. As an appetizer, we decided on Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes and Jumbo Lump Crab Bisque Soup. For our main meal, we opted for the Ribeye Steak with Spanish Rice, Ribeye Steak with Cajun Fries, Stuffed Lobster Tail with Crab, and Lemon & Herb Chicken. Complimentary Teriyaki & Fresh Ginger Wings and Pineapple Cornbread started our meal. Our meal took a while, but we knew it was made fresh: nothing frozen or re-heated. The food was bold and more about the layering of smoky, garlicky, peppery flavors than about heat. I was so looking forward to some beignets and sadly didn't have them, which calls for another visit. The portions were just right, and the price was comparable to the area. Our server was Heather, who was friendly and made sure our glass was filled. Howard, the owner and head chef, welcomed every patron by making small talk. Those who have never tasted Louisiana-inspired food need only try it once to experience the richness and depth of its flavors.

Maybe Vermont or Maine. Service was good by Alejandro & Tomas. We had Saratoga water that is my favorite and the bar drinks were delicious. I had a margarita and my husband had a vodka old fashioned. We had mussels and shrimp cocktail as appetizers which were good. I had the lemon chicken dish for dinner that I enjoyed. My husband had surf & turf which he liked but thought it was small and there was shell on the lobster. He did enjoy the rolls. We ordered truffle fries but got sweet potato fries. They were good so we ate them, but it would have been nice to try the truffle fries. All in all the dinner was nice as the ambiance was lovely. There was also live music. I liked it but it could have been a little lower. We would go back and try some other dishes. Cool to check out!

The decor is to die for. There's a "lounge" area by the area with large couches, velvet assents and little tables. the rest of the venue has warm tones with classy accents. overall, i truely liked it. half way through the staff dimmed the lights, overall its a warm, welcoming atmosphere. I did not partake in the bar drinks this time around, as im taking a break from drinking, but he other tables seemed to grab some nice looking craft cocktails. overall service was slow, there was only 1 staff member on board this day, but it was just myself and 2 family members here for 45 mins. i dont think this was the servers fault. it seemed the kitchen was a bit relaxed. the calamari was fresh and large rings, but complaint was that they were not as crunchy as ive had in other locations. i think they needed a minute or 2 to fry a little more. it comes with a dip, not a marinara sauce. i grabbed the chargrilled octopus. i loved this. only downfall is that it comes with a large salad. i would have rather less salad and more octopus itself. for my entree i had the scallops over risotto with ginger carrot sauce. there were 5 medium scallops provided. they also needed another minute or 2, they were almost perfect. the carrot ginger sauce was nice, but mainly carrot flavor. i liked the risotto, but i think they needed to tone down on the salt. the tiramisu was very good! they brought out a candle and a free glass of champagne. i would come back for drinks and another meal.

Let me be clear, the main redeeming aspect of this place is the talent on stage. The musicians were exceptional and deserved far better than the environment surrounding them. I ordered a scotch neat, something I'm very familiar with, and immediately knew something was off. When I politely flagged down a waiter, he responded with visible annoyance, as if I was inconveniencing him by being a paying customer. I explained the issue and simply asked if it could be checked or replaced. Instead of addressing it professionally, he walked away without a word, returned holding the bottle and my glass, and said, "this is what you were poured," before carelessly tossing the drink back onto the table. No apology. No explanation. Just attitude. It escalated from there. When I confronted him about his behavior, he denied it outright and then doubled down with an aggressive, confrontational stance, getting in my face and effectively threatening me. His exact words? "If I tossed your drink on the table, it would have been all over you!", and "Man, shut yo ass!" Completely unprofessional and unacceptable in any setting, let alone an establishment that positions itself as upscale. The manager's response was just as disappointing. Instead of addressing the behavior of his staff, he blamed me, asking why I "chased" the waiter and suggesting I should have gone directly to him. That's not how basic customer service works. I tried to resolve the issue directly, respectfully, and without escalation, something his employee clearly had no interest in. I was thinking if I talk to the waiter first, he wouldn't get in trouble with his manager. To make matters worse, the manager continued to defend the waiter rather than de-escalate the situation. At that point, it was clear this wasn't a one-off issue; it's a reflection of how this place operates. I paid my bill and left. For a venue that attracts world-class jazz talent, it's astonishing how low the standard of service is. This place is doing a disservice to the artists who perform there. I will never return, and I would strongly caution anyone expecting a professional, respectful experience to look elsewhere.

Unless you know about it, you can easily walk by, given it blends into the general Harlem cityscape, especially during the day. Then at night, especially during the afterhours when I was there, the scene flips and this place becomes turnt up! People were lined up trying to get inside at 0130. The bouncers were searching and patting people down, nothing absurd or overly intrusive. There is a cover charge and they take credit cards for the cover. As you walk inside, the bar in on your right. Keep going and the dancefloor awaits you. It's not that large, but people are generally very courteous. There are a few places to sit, especially in the back in the left corner. That is also where the steps lead you downstairs, presumably to the restroom, which I did not have to use. The vibe is poppin' inside and it is fed by the DJ on a stage in the back, playing Worldbeats, Afropop, Afrobeats, Reggae, Dance Hall, and Soca. They are setup for live bands here. The volume is high, but not uncomfortably or earsplittingly high. The people here are drawn to this vibe and energy. You can dance here all night and the air conditioning and ventilation are of the capacity to keep you and everyone else comfortable. Stick around until closing time at 0400 when everyone starts walking out and the AC nearly turns the Shrine into a refrigerator. For an unassuming place on the outside, it is clear this is a place you can come to with friends or a date if this is your vibe and it's hard to imagine anyone not enjoying this. Prices are reasonable too at the bar. They have a good selection of draught and bottled beer. Guinness on tap was $9 for a pint. They serve up the cocktails too. Four fun and returnworthy stars!
