We've been coming to this place several times and usually food options are great. Something must have happened recently. Went with husband for a happy hour on a nice summer day. Menu options changed, no more delicious duck poutine, or brussel sprouts with tahini sauce. Fried food options are mostly the main appetizer choices-a warning perhaps that food can't be fresh and has to be fried. I loved the place and its atmosphere. It's situated in a really nice area, and parking is free in the garage in front of the building. It's a great spot to have some drinks and relax with friends. However, the service was a bit slow; it took a long time for them to bring the drinks and appetizers, and it felt like it took forever to get the food. On a positive note, the food was delicious, offering a variety of options from seafood to steaks. I ordered the ribeye and it was absolutely amazing. Had out-of-state friends visiting from our Doctoral cohort, decided to meet centrally, and my bestie picked this spot. Cute atmosphere, great location just across the bridge. Accolades end there... We ordered drinks and appetizers and waited. We received 2 drinks, waited forever for the next 2, and the oysters (Bluepoint) came simultaneously. We continued to wait for the wings - garlic/parmesan wings. We placed our food order - still waiting for the wings. Time passed, literally 1 hour - we timed it by the parking meter -before the wings came, midway through the entrees. The manager apologized and said he would remove it from the bill; the wings were partially cooked and showed up on the bill! He removed it, and we waited again for at least 10 more minutes for the new bill and the takeout box I'd asked for. The oysters were ok. There was a lot of the confit lemon aioli on the lump crab sliders, but it wasn't that flavorful. The fries would've been the best part of the meal, but they were extremely greasy (photos uploaded). I enjoyed my meal here. The food was well made and good. I enjoyed the crab cake sandwich as my entree and the calamari and cauliflower as my appetizer. Service was great. They have a bar. Ambiance is nice and big. I'm assuming the time I visited (1:30) maybe was deadish due to it being more of a dinner spot. I wanted to like City Perch, and having been there before for a happy hour type gathering, my wife and I dined in a few months ago when it was still warm. I like the vibe, and the surrounding area in downtown Fort Lee definitely has a great vibe, esp. with all the windows opened up during summer. But if you're a restaurant, ya gotta pull your weight with food. You can't just fake it in the middle of downtown Fort Lee - a town that has transformed into an extension of midtown NYC in some ways in the last 5-8 years. Food was just overall terrible. This joint doesn't get my separate category grading treatment so here it is: Wild mushroom soup (2/5, APP) was a big bowl of... nothing. Did not particularly taste good other than grainy dirt-like texture. Braised Duck Poutine (3/5, APP) What were we thinking ordering this...? Duck was not terribly dry but just the whole thing was meh. We ate out of necessity to fill us up. Shrimp Scampi (2/5, MAIN, $28) What is this...? It was so thoroughly blend, dry (not enough sauce), rubbery shrimp, slightly limp linguini... just nothing going for it. Service was also not too great. Our server took so long to take our order, soup took like 15 minutes, pasta literally took 20 minutes. For THAT. We paid like $30 for THAT??! Ugh *facepalm* Never again. So I had a date night dinner here 4/5 on my birthday my main complaint was my food was served warm to cool and when I asked for it to be heated up the rib was reheated while the mashed potatoes were cold I told the waitress about that still tipped but never went back my salad was delicious and my birthday dinner. The drink was something the waitress suggested which was a no for me I'll stick to my passion fruit margaritas. Still a solid 4 star. I enjoy visiting City Perch once in a while for their mascarpone French toast and lemon ricotta pancakes with hot tea. So sad to find out the French toast and pancakes are only available on Saturdays and Sundays during brunch now... Their other food tends to be either really salty or really bland, but still enjoyable. It's a cute spot to hang out, moody and fairly quiet. The trees in the middle of the restaurant add to the warm and inviting environment. The staff are super friendly always. This time around, we got the Mussels ($17), Grilled Asparagus Arugula Salad ($17), and Lobster Roll ($26). The mussels were bland, but the bread that came with them were perfectly crispy and soft. The salad was the highlight of the lunch, and the lobster roll was smaller than expected but enjoyable. read more

Brunch in Fort Lee doesn't get better than this. Don't let the modern look fool you, this team packs a humble punch. First off, the food is absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the Duck Poutine if you are feeling peckish. It is superb. I could literally eat it every day! Chicken and Waffles and the Crab Benedict were extremely well executed and presented. Cocktails were shining stars as the mixologist's creations hit every flavor profile in balanced fashion. The service from Andreas was truly charming and warm. Made sure to connect with us and steer us on the cocktail road with great recommendations. The interior is very clean and well maintained with modern hip and sleek look yet comfy. The food is good. A little pricey but not too bad. It's really nice inside too. Service is decent. Drinks are pretty weak and that's coming from a lightweight, so I would recommend sticking with beer. Convenient location with lots to do around there like movies, ping pong, bakeries, etc. they have the parking garage across the street so parking isn't an issue. Normally when I come to leave a review, I would love to mention my experience at said place. However I can't do that for this place and below are the reasons why. Came here for Valentine's Day and the place looked amazing. The ambience was very nice and the food I had was good. Unfortunately I have to stop there cause everything else about this was a disaster. The lady who sat us down did say that it may take sometime before someone comes and takes my order. Now it's one thing for someone to come because it's a busy night, but for no one to show up at all is not acceptable. I had to ask for the manager and the manager was very nice. This man was very helpful and he was the only good thing about the staff the entire night. I sat between two other couples and one couple waited 2 hours (their words not mine) before someone came over. Another couple (this i witnessed) didn't even have anyone come over to them and they left. Now to make it worse, the restaurant was not packed as you would expect it to be on a Friday night, and on a special occasion night like Valentine's night. Never have I seen something like this in my entire life of dining and I hope to never see it again. The general manager saved this place from getting zero stars since he was the only staff member to come over and access the situation. Normally I would close that I am looking forward to coming back here, but I can say Unfortunately that I will never come here again. read more

Admittedly I only come when a great movie warrants a journey from the Bronx, but theblast five years has made this establishment a staple in my dining experience. Like all places the quality of the service ebbs and flows depending on the shifts of the staff, but that being said I've never experienced "low quality". The worse has been on par. My current server, Elio is an example of the highly professional norm. The food. The food is always excellent. Always. Always. I have four years of yummy memories stored up due to my migration to this iPic area post-Pandemic. Usually I sit at the bar, which is pretty comfortable. City Perch is a disorganized mess with mediocre food. I was deemed a no-show with Open Table. That's how bad this place is. If only I hadn't shown up. I ordered a grilled chicken Caesar salad. A diner would have served better in half the time. A member of the kitchen staff brought the food. Our waitress disappeared after taking the order. Eventually my guest asked another waitress to get our waitress so dessert could be ordered. That happened. I ordered coffee with milk. The milk followed five minutes after the coffee arrived. My guest ordered a frozen dessert. That arrived some time after the milk. Even the best part of the evening -- leaving -- became a chore. After I asked for the check, minutes passed. I asked the waitress what was happening. "He's preparing it." Who is "he" and what is there to prepare? Never again. read more

City Perch was an incredible experience. The entire restaurant is beautiful and they've covered every angle for each customer's preference. They have a nice outdoor area, with large umbrellas. A perfect location to people watch, see the caravan of exotic cars driving by, or maybe catch a glimpse of celebrities strolling through the area. Ten minutes into the meal, we saw Iced-T, his wife (Coco) and their daughter, coming out of the adjacent IPIC Theater. They also have an indoor high stool/table area, which is where we chose to sit. This was my favorite, because you have a little of both the outdoor and indoor experience. Our server, Jailene, was exceptional. She was attentive, cheery, and gave us great recommendations. We started with libations of an Espresso Martini and their Black and Blanco (tequila blanco, basil, blackberries, and agave). Both were well crafted and strong. Our appetizer was the Watermelon Salad (shaved red onion, candied pistachios, feta cheese, watercress, with a honey-thyme vinaigrette). This salad was AMAZING, refreshing, I wish it was 3 times larger and highly recommended. Our entrees were just as good. We had the Perch Burger (red onion marmalade, bacon, bibb lettuce, tomato, white cheddar, secret sauce, and house fries). We also ordered the Sesame Miso Salmon (sesame miso glaze, ginger wild mushroom, crispy shredded potato cake, with scallion-wasabi vinaigrette). That salmon was exquisite and all of these ingredients created an array of textures and flavors that made this dish memorable. OMG....the dessert! We shared the Strawberry Rhubarb (macerated fruit, cobbler topping, gelato, strawberry) was heavenly. Below that cobbler top was a warm mixture of happiness, that when combined with the the gelato, was mouth watering and will be ordered with every subsequent meal, if available. (Visited 6/24 at 6:30) One of the main reasons I trusted City Perch with one of my most intimate of events is because of their commitment to customer service is unmatched. From the reservation process to the time you leave the restaurant. As a customer I feel heavily appreciated and welcome at City Perch Fort Lee, I'll always be abundantly eager to visit again. Might I mention I had to change my reservation time twice and was met with accommodation immediately. Upon entry the hostess curated a personal and comforting experience by knowing my reservation (and saying my name correctly!) The entire staff as I've encountered them have been helpful, down to earth, and cheerful. I must mention that Timothy goes above and beyond to keep the floor running smoothly (as a former restaurant employee I can really appreciate that) from the line, to the guests. He is really on top of his game and I was ever thankful for his warm and hospitable energy during my visit. The decor at city perch is beautiful. It's definitely the prettiest place in the area as well. A lot of my dining experience is about my surroundings and it is beautiful in there. The lighting is selective and makes for a very intimate dining experience. Not however, great for photos but I prefer to live in the moment these days. The food is expertly assembled, I was flabbergasted honestly (and that is hard to do! Lol) with every course being served. We eat family style so I personally tasted everything listed below. For starters: The most pleasant beef carpaccio that really melted in your mouth with each bite, hardly needed to chew. Composed of thinly sliced beef, Parmesan, capers, & their own oil blend/dressing (I believe) A crispy calamari with proper texture, no rubber band eating here! Served with peppers and a nice sauce. Mussels in a gorgeous broth, incredibly humble look to this broth but huge flavor of herbs, & garlic. As I patron City Perch I will ALWAYS order these, LOL these are non-negotiable. For our entrees: A ribeye that was juicy from start to finish (ordered medium) served with a pleasant bit of frites. Small tidbit here- I do not normally eat my frites but there were very nice and delicate. A filet mignon that was seared to perfection, I would highly recommend when comparing the two steaks, I'd order this one first if you're not getting both. Shrimp Scampi served over linguini, was a nice delicate scampi with nicely sized shrimp, no skimping on the size here. Salmon that was gorgeously crispy, cooked to a perfect temperature and served with the most succulent Brussels sprouts I've had dining outside. Dessert (of course!): An absolutely delectable creamy panna cotta with a gorgeously refreshing berry compote that really made my palette feel so clean after the meal. A nice take on blueberry cobbler, I got a little southern in me so I'm particular 'bout my cobbler but I am not so far removed that I couldn't enjoy this interpretation, it's tasty! And we had a birthday (of which I let Timothy know and he expertly accommodated) so of course we had a piece of that decadent cheesecake. Which is always nice LOL! As for beverages, we had the Riesling which was very pleasant, and the "Black & Blanco" cocktail which really feels artistically curated by someone who understands flavors. We recently tried this restaurant because we were considering booking a birthday brunch. The food was excellent, the cocktails were creative and delicious, and the atmosphere was lovely. Our hostess was very kind and welcoming, and our server Allison was phenomenal--attentive, friendly, and professional. However, I am writing this review mostly about the event planning experience, which was disappointing. I initially spoke with Jason (event sales manager), who was helpful. From there, I was directed to Maria, the event coordinator. Unfortunately, communication with her was extremely difficult. I called multiple times--no answer. I left a voicemail--no response. I emailed twice and only received what seemed like an automated reply. After waiting days with no follow-up, I tried calling again and went straight to voicemail each time. I finally heard back just a few days before the event, but by then the lack of professionalism and poor communication had made the planning process unnecessarily stressful. This restaurant has great food, drinks, and staff on the service side, but if you're planning an event here, be prepared for challenges with the coordination team especially Maria. read more

I think my days brunching or dining here has come to a halt; the service is very lacking. My recent visit on Easter Sunday, we planned on sitting at the bar and ordering from the bar menu, unfortunately that was a busy. The "genius" management decided to pull the bar menu and only offer a $60pp Easter Brunch. Needless to say that people left, Management would rather lose money. We stayed for one drink and the barmaid ignored requests and gave better service to a senior gentleman who appears to be someone she knows. Came during HH and tried the Norma Jeane and strawberry fields cocktails. Both were pretty sweet (a little too sweet for me and I like sweet drinks!). Drinks could have been better but for the price, it was a good deal. Service was attentive and quick. We sat at the high tops closeby the patio. I came here for brunch on a Sunday afternoon with a group of 3 people. We ordered the crab cakes appetizer, the sesame miso salmon, the steak salad, and the omelet with sausage. The two crab cakes were tiny, definitely not worth the price ($25) but it was all crab. The steak was dry but I did like the fried onions. The salmon was cooked perfectly but a bit bland. Service was fast and friendly. I do like how you can park in the Hudson Lights garage for free (usually $5 for 3 hours). The machine to validate your parking ticket is right next to the host stand and the elevators to the parking garage were across the streets so very convenient. However, the prices were pretty high for the area and the food wasn't really worth it so I probably would not come back. read more

I ordered the short rib hash. Very full and hearty, but a tad bit on the greasy side, otherwise delicious! It won't break the bank and is definitely better quality than your average chain restaurant. Great assortment of drinks as well. Pro tip: You can park in the garage across the street and have it validated inside the restaurant so you get free parking! read more

Came for a girls brunch to celebrate our birthday. We were late for our reservation but that was a non-issue it still wasn't busy yet. We had a very attentive and well knowledges server who gave very good descriptions of the food and what to expect from the dish. We shared the pastry assortment. Most places give you mini pastries but you got 4 full size pastries. They all were fresh and full of flavor and it came with butter Nutella and jam. I had the smoked salmon popovers which were a nice balance but would of liked more smoked salmon on it they are muffins filled with a light dill crème fresh and the salmon on top with a side of chopped onions tomatoes and cucumbers. The muffin was not exactly a muffin had a croissant like lightness too it but more of a brioche texture. My friends had the avocado toast and the eggs Benedict. They were both pleased with their dishes and expressed their egged being made well. One person asked for an iced coffee as I said the serveur gave her a very fair waning that it would be hot coffee on ice and could be water downed and my friend found it to good and not watery. read more

I got a lobster cobb salad here and it was not that great. The lobster had no taste and the shrimps had a weird taste. Seems like they provide food to the theater, and I had food at another IPIC and it was equally disappointing. In a town full of good restaurants like Fort Lee, City Perch needs to do better to compete. This is just from the lobster salad, but it has great potential. Get better ingredients. read more

This is probably my fourth visit to City Perch. It's consistently good and convenient. I had the Perch Burger and my Fiancé had the salmon. Burger 5/5. Salmon was overcooked 3.5/5. Drinks were definitely on point! One thing that really irks me every time we have gone into this restaurant, without fail and with different hostesses, is that they are always ready to push you away and tell you that the kitchen is closed (or closing) or that the food is going to take too long to make for you to carry it out, before they try to provide a solution. And to be clear, I normally get there between 830pm and 845pm for dinner. So if I went earlier or had a reservation, this would likely be resolved. Yesterday we arrived at 9 o'clock, the restaurant closes at 10. The hostess did not seat us in the larger dining area, because she said they were no longer seating tables. She said we could sit at the bar and had to order within the next five minutes because the kitchen was closing..turns out we had until 9:30pm, not 9:05. It really just starts off the dining experience in a not so positive way. But at least we found a spot at the bar. I would suggest to the restaurant, if your last seating is 9pm in the main seating area, list that somewhere on yelp or on the restaurant website. I think if people knew they needed to get there at 8:30pm to be able to get a table, people would happily do that. Aside from that part, the bartender was wonderful. Great location and ambience.. Food tasted great the portion size was decent enough.. Good choice of Cocktails and they were not weak or watered down.. Staff were friendly and helpful.. Knocking off a Star since the Service was extremely slow the night we were in even though there wasn't much of a crowd and they were constantly running out of items on their Menu eventhough it was only 8.30 PM or so. Since it was my 1st time here I am not sure if this is a pattern or just a bad day.. Manager Tim was very polite and did take the time and effort to come speak to us and gave a decent discount for the delay in Service. Came here for my Cousin's Birthday. 1st time here. Parking can be challenging, but the environment is really cool. Staff is friendly. The drinks are great, they have a separate menu for drinks, with many of their own signature in-house drinks, as well as your standards. With our group we had Mimosas, Bellinis, Black & Blanco, Rye Old Fashioned, & Let's Jam. I forgot to take drink pictures unfortunately. The only one that was not liked was the 'Let's Jam.' It was sent back. The food at the table, which was a brunch menu, had some basic things, some ordered things like bacon & eggs, and an omelette. But the rest of us had Chicken & Waffles, Eggs Benedict, Stuffed French Toast, & Breakfast Pizza. All were good, but the Chicken & Waffles was the star of the table. 4 of us ordered it & we all LOVED IT!! Hands down, the best Chicken & Waffles I have ever had. Usually C&W either the chicken is dry, or unseasoned, or the waffle is dry or cold & soggy. Both were perfection!! Came here on a friday evening and ordered the perch burger and burrata. The burrata came out first and had roasted peppers with cherry tomatos and of course the burrata. The veggies were lightly seasoned with some vinegar, olive oil, and salt and pepper. The burrata was creamy, decadent, and the bread was toasted nicely and extremely crispy! The burger came with bacon, carmelized onions, some pickled relish and ketchup and mayo. The burger was cooked to a nice medium rare like i asked and the fries were also crispy and delicious! Expertly hiding a mild hangover I was able to make my way to City Perch for an early brunch. I needed something heavy and filling FAST. I was worried it would be busy but there was plenty of seating. To start I had a Bloody Mary, very good! The giant olive felt like a salty gift from the heavens and I added extra pepper to my bloody to warm me up. I did wish it was a little spicier but it was nice and strong. Husband had the coffee, the server kept filling the cup so I happily gulped from it like an animal at a waterhole in the serengeti. For our meals we ordered the chicken and waffles and stuffed French toast. The chicken was fried perfectly, the meat was very juicy and the crunch was spectacular--probably the best chicken and waffles I've ever had. It came with a ramekin of maple syrup that had bacon chunks and I think Tabasco! Very nice, loved it. The stuffed French toast was also delicious, topped with a berry compote and powdered sugar. We finished our meal happy and full and ready to run some afternoon errands. I'll definitely be back to enjoy another great meal. read more

This place is a little pricey but the food was amazing. I will definitely be back. Do yourself a favor and head here too. Reservations - Booked a reservation on resy easily 2 days in advance. Very easy to make and to change as needed. Apps/Sides - Delicious. Brussels sprouts (10/10) this may have been my favorite app. Crispy, flavorful, easy to share. Honey-dipped cornbread (9/10) comes with one piece so not as easily shareable but we had a lot of apps so we chopped it up and picked at it. Fresh and the goat cheese on top adds to the bread like a butter substitute. Cheddar drop biscuits (5/10) you get two and they're large and filled with herbs but they were a miss for my group. They were a little dry. The maple butter was tasty though. Mac and cheese (4/10) we ordered as an app and it missed the mark and was the least eaten. Bacon was crunchy but I'm not sure what it was, the cheese or the consistency. We didn't really eat it. No one in my group was a huge fan. Shoo string fries (8/10) we didn't add truffle oil so they're just regular fries. Nice and crisp and a large bowl of them easy to share. Food - braised beef short rib (11/10) wow is this tender. It falls apart and the au jus is nice and glazey. They didn't have the potato pancake so we were able to sub for the CLASSIC POMMES ALIGOT (9/10). It's kind of like a really creamy mashed potato or one step before potato soup. If you don't already have this as a side, get it as an extra. So smooth. The spinach under the beef has a nice break up from the meat and the onions are crispy on top. Uhhh I'll definitely be back for this. My friend got the bbq ribs (9/10) and they were good but spicy and the menu doesn't specify that. If I ordered it, I would have been upset and Lilly not have eaten. They should add that to the menu but she like a little spice so she said they were really good. Tried a bit and they were also really tender, just not the flavor for me. Dessert - they have a decent dessert menu. We got a tres Leche cake but it also missed the mark for us (4/10). The cake was kind of hard but the berry compote was good. Will try the s'mores cake next time. Service - our server was Andre. He was good, attentive, funny but the manager, Jason, was fabulous. He brought out most of our food, made us laugh, and made sure we were having a good time. Definitely enhanced the experience. We also didn't really have to wait long times for food. The only thing that we really waited on was dessert but otherwise everything came out promptly/well timed. Decor - this place is sweet. Well decorated and good for parties and dates. Drinks - the passion mojito (9/10) sweet and easily drinkable. Icon mule (2/10) it had a weird aftertaste and wasn't pleasant to drink. Skip it all together. Parking - can be tough but there's a conveniently located parking garage across the street that I believe is $5 for the first 4 hours. read more
