Another great review for Nagel's. I needed to have a tire put on and found a good used one that was $70 vs over $200 for a brand new one. I wasted my time trying to have it done at Pep Boys, they were going to take hours to do it and then told me they won't install used tires. So instead I called up Dan and he said to bring the wheel and replacement tire in. I dropped them off in the morning and went back about noon to have it put back on the car. That took like 20 minutes and 30 bucks and I was on my way, pain free. Now I just need to quit bumping the planter next to my driveway. read more

BEWARE. People need to be aware that this shop will take advantage of you and lie straight to your face! Women! Do NOT trust this place! I was told it would cost $3,500- $3,800 to fix my car after paying $80 to diagnose my car. And this shop reported this to CARFAX. I was told the part was only available from the car manufacturer for $1,799 and there was no after market version of the part. Keep in mind, there were absolutely NO symptoms of the problem they told me it could be. Plus I looked up the part they mentioned and found it after market, refurbished , or oem for $200- $1,000 (AT MOST!) . NOT $1,799. Still, this caused me a lot of distress. I went to another mechanic shop and found out that this was NOT the issue at all. And the only thing the car needed = $400. Nagels lied to me about what was wrong, lied to me about the cost of parts, mis diagnosed my car and still charged, tried to take me to the cleaners, AND this is on CARFAX now! They depreciated the value of my vehicle. After my experience, I wouldn't trust this shop even to change the oil on my car. Nagels is the stereotypical mechanic shop that everyone warns you about. I have been going to Nagels for 6 years now and always found Dan to be honest, knowledgeable and fair-priced. He watches out for the car even when you are just getting an oil change; tells you what needs to be done. My last visit was 2 weeks ago for a new set of tires, made an appointment, he took me at the appropriate time, and I was done in a little over an hour. The waiting room is always clean and Dan is always polite and answers all my questions. He is the best!!!!! read more

We only get our cars serviced at Nagles. They're wonderful and you never have to be worried about being ripped off. In fact, recently my daughter's car broke down. My husband called them for a tow and repair. As my husband spoke with the owner, Dan, he suggested try a few things out first. So my husband did what he advised & got the car running. As a newbie to town I was very stressed out when I discovered my car making a retched noise when I turned the wheel. This meant I needed to find a mechanic in town, and fast. A coworker recommended Nagel's to me and I couldn't be happier. I called in and told Nagel's about my situation and Dan was more than happy to look at my car. I was able to catch a ride from my coworker and dropped my car off at 8:30. By 1 he had called me back with info on the car. He went ahead and did the cheap repairs, but wanted to get my okay on the more expensive stuff. I don't know a lot about cars so he walked me through step by step on what was wrong and how to keep my car in excellent condition (i.e. what is the best gas to use and why). I told them I would like it if the car was done by the end of the day because it was my only mode of transportation. They assured me that they would have it done by 5 when I arrived. And they did. The customer service was excellent and I never once felt stupid, which some mechanics make me feel. Dan thanked me multiple times for choosing his place of business to take my car and I found that very nice. One thing to take note of is that Nagel's doesn't have loaner cars (but really only large dealerships do). Also, the lot is a bit small so be prepared to be able to back into spots or make a 3 point turn to get out of the place. read more

Charged me $30 dollars to patch a tire and wanted an additional $10 to put it back on the car. The tire was fine I agreed to the price as bad as it is but the fact that this place will nickel and dime you like that is disgusting and shows they have no respect for their customers. I've had several issues brought to my attention,when I took my car to the dealer for an oil change. They usually give you an estimate as to what your car needs . I brought my car to Dan to replace the part that had been noted,he took it for a drive and put it up on the rack and informed me that there was nothing wrong with the part that the dealer said needed replacing. In my 47 years, I have NEVER had a worse auto repair experience in my life!! When I first got to the shop I thought Dan said that he had to take a test drive on another car. So I said "Okay" and went to sit in the waiting room. But apparently, he said he was ready to take my car and seemed annoyed that he had to follow me into the waiting room. Then he wouldn't tell me what was wrong with my car except to say "Too much was wrong" and that he didn't want to fix it. I only stopped at this shop because I was 45 minutes from my home and I was afraid that the car wouldn't be safe to drive to my mechanic. And when I said to him "Are you really going to let me drive to Darien without doing anything?" He said yes and walked away, So my suggestion to you is, don't let your daughter, wife, mother, sister, or ANYONE you care about take their car here. Don't bring a car that is older then 5 years or that might have a large problem with it to this shop. Because if you do, there is a chance, that he will send them/you out on the street to risk their/your life with a car that might be unsafe because he doesn't want to deal with it. Isn't dealing with cars that need repair what he is supposed to do? Shame on you Dan!!! I hope no one ever treats someone you care about with the same calloused disdain as you treated me. I had a terrible experience with the owner Dan. To his credit, he did manage to repair my car for a reasonable price (which is why i gave 2 stars) but I have never been treated worse anywhere as a customer. He got upset with me for asking general questions about my car. He seemed stressed out and that's completely understandable, but don't take it out on your customers. read more

Recently, my daughter had an issue with her 2007 Toyota Highlander. After visiting the local Toyota dealer and receiving an estimate to repair the vehicle for $1280.00. I decided to call NAGEL'S AUTO SERVICE in Orland Park on her behalf. I spoke with the owner, Dan Nagel, and scheduled an appointment. He diagnosed the vehicle as needing the same repair as the Toyota dealer. The difference was Nagel's price for the repair was $665, which was almost half the cost of the Toyota dealer. I've been taking my cars to Nagel's for the last 15 years, and some family members of mine have been going longer than that. Dan is very professional and honest when it comes to the work he does. Even in college if there was something wrong with my car, and being a college kid not having a ton of money, he would fix it to the point it last me several months so I could save some money to fix it in the future and not have to drop a few hundred bucks at one visit. Or one time Discount Tire said I would need to replace my tires when I went for an air check. In the same week I went to Dan for an oil change, asked him about the tires, and he told me I had about a year left, and that's about when I really did need to replace them. No dealership would accommodate like he does. Or be as honest. Just a remind too, he is a smaller business, not a larger dealership, so if you expect to drop your car off and get it back in the same day that may not happen. One member of the staff was smoking by my car, The other guy (Scott) that I was talking to was a completely rude and ignorant, I'm sorry I asked a question. The owner seems like a decent guy.
