Let me start by saying I love the way my nails came out. They LOOK great however my cuticles were sore and bleeding a little after she was done. The good: the ladies were polite and my nails look lovely. The salon is clean and nicely decorated. The bad: my tech seems knowledgeable in application however she was very distracted. She over drilled my nails and was about to do a fill-in vs the full set I booked. I had to let her know that I booked a new set. I feel like she was having a bad day but she also needs to learn how to not let it affect her. The ugly: it's clear that they have repeat clients and I felt as if the regulars received better service than I did. I came in and was greeted but no one asked what I came in for or if I needed anything like water. I sat for about 15 mins (after coming in 15 mins late bc they pushed my appointment back due to the tech being behind) and it wasn't until I asked someone if they could check to see how long it would be. I agree with some of the other reviews about their timeliness. I understand that it's easy to get back up in a nail salon but I feel as if the communication could have been better. Would I return? First time- I called and made an appointment because they had military discount on Monday. I also upgraded my services with gel and design on my nails because I was told it would be 15% off. Nail tech was nice but I got cut when my cuticles were being trimmed. My services were $65 then the discount was $1.5 (no where near 15%($ 9.75 ) it's close to 2 percent). The receptionist was not able to make the correct to the computer since she didn't own the shop. Owner please correct your computer calculations. I had my nails done with the gel Polish the day before my wedding . The woman at the front desk kept saying regular Polish could not be "guaranteed", but gel could. I had my gel Polish for less than 1 week before I started to have some nails lifting. Now up to 6 nails lifting so I called. 10 days from application. I was told the minimum should be 2 weeks. When I said I wanted it corrected I was told 5 days . Now I can get it corrected but for the full price. Some customer service not. !!! Guarantee means nothing. I will never go back. I feel that what a lot of people fail to realize about nail salons is that you have to find the right tech. You can have the best salon, but if you go to the wrong tech, its all down here from there. I've had the worst time looking for a local nail salon for yearssssss. I am so particular about my nails so it makes it just that difficult especially when acrylics here in Virginia are not that affordable in my opinion. I usually go to (IG: @thenailgoat) but that drive is so far at times especially for a basic full set. I can here once 3 years ago and I love my nails and it slipped my mind that this was even the same salon. So I made an appointment with Shae after I saw her work on Instagram and I'm so happy I did. Shae was super friendly, professional, and her work is amazing. She did my full set and pedicure, I do also like that they do an rewards system. Would not recommend! The first girl that did my nails was not fluent in English therefore we had to communicate via a translator app on her phone which was difficult. She did a poor job. It was a simple gel manicure. I came back a few hours later to have them redone. The second girl did a better job but still not good. This place was OK, but I had heard that it was really good from a friend. After going with her, she had a fairly good experience, but I did not. The nail tech that I had was on her phone texting and on Instagram throughout my appointment. She cut my finger trying to trim my cuticles and continue to put products on it that would make it burn even after I said that it hurt. I had to ask her to touch up the nails as there was polish on the fingers and on the bottoms of my fingers. I would not recommend indigo as she and michaiah argued the whole time with the receptionist and made myself as a customer feel that I was getting in the way of their personal lives. I recently moved away from Virginia, but every time I return to Newport News to visit my family, my mother and I take a trip to Nail Addict. I love the atmosphere and the friendliness of not only the staff, but the other clientele: everyone is super friendly! I love that the salon has so many options in traditional nail polish and shellac/gel polishes: they're always able to fulfill my color requests. Today I got the spa pedicure and it was *divine.* The young woman who took care of me was thorough and didn't rush through my pedi, even though there were other walk-ins waiting. I was able to relax completely, which is rare at so many busy salons. My only advice to others is to check your nails carefully before you leave. I tend to find slight imperfections in my nails once I leave the salon. It's little things like a bubble or uneven color on a toe, and every time I return with a concern, the nail techs are quick to fix the problem. There is no hassle or confrontation when I return, but it would be easier if everything was *perfect* when I left. read more

I was here in Oct for a mani with gel polish and within 3 days it peeled off..when I came back to complain the manager took a pic of my ragged cuticles...the iwerners father did my manacure. Super unfortunate experience!!! My family had a reservation for 4 of us to get nails + toes done! None of us started at the same time and our 4th person never was seen. After 45 minutes she expressed her frustration to someone else waiting and was approached by an employee with a negative attitude who was upset that she was complaining. She was extremely rude and passive aggressive and no one once apologized or even explained why she hadn't been started. It's such a shame because 3/4 of us were somewhat pleased with our services but our 4th person didn't even end up getting her nails done because we'd be late to dinner reservations. If after even 10 minutes someone explained what was going on it would be more than acceptable but between the lack of communication and the inexcusable rudeness we will never return and I don't recommend visiting this salon! read more

Terrible experience would never go back. Went to Nail Addict for the first time and called and booked an appointment for me and three others. We arrived on time and checked in and sat down. Two of us got seated right away, one got seated 15 minutes later. The last person with our party got seated 50 minutes after the rest of us. No one updated her with her wait time or told her that her nail tech was not in the salon. She decided not to get her nails done. Then one of the nail techs came up to her and was very rude. This place is terrible. I got a gel manicure. First of all, the lady doing my manicure was so unprofessional. She sat there texting while I was waiting for her to call my ticket. Then she cut me TWICE. And acted like nothing happened. She was like "Oh I nipped you". She has no business doing manicures. My fingers look terrible and three days later the two fingers she cut still hurt with contact on water. Yes, the staff there is young and they do talk about the customers and the people they work with, but I felt like I had gotten good quality nails. Boy was I wrong!! Not even a week later the first nail broke (gel set) and I called asking if they would repair the nail, they told me that because it had been longer than 3 days I would have to pay to repair it! I just paid $50 to have them done! Then two days after that the next nail broke! The nails broke not doing anything strenuous, one broke by me pulling a box out of the freezer and it caught the edge! I have been to this nail salon years ago when I lived in Virginia and I left very satisfied. My nails were stylish and durable. They recently remodeled, so while in Virginia I figured I should stop by. The salon was beautiful. They have so many nail stations now. Even a hostess to take your request and give you a slip with a number. They all wear ear pieces to increase communication I suppose. I only went for a polish change (gel). Waited quite a while but they were busy so I didn't mind. However when I was seated I felt rushed. She took off my polish by sanding it off. You could still see the old polish when she began to add my new polish. I asked her about it and she said it would wear off soon . My mom and I went in yesterday, I got a full set of acrylics and she got a pedicure. My mom had to wait 40 minutes even though she had an appointment because the man who was supposed to do her feet said that he could do a "quick" manicure on the woman he was working on before her. I heard the the receptionist (or the woman who was working the desk at least) tell him that he had an appointment waiting (my mom had already been waiting for 10 minutes at this point) and he said that he had time to do her manicure before getting to my mom's pedicure. It was unprofessional of him to say he could do this obviously unscheduled manicure when he knew he had an appointment waiting. My mom was also unsatisfied with the pedicure he gave her because she has a cut on her foot that he kept rubbing, he didn't speak to her, her feet were aching from sitting in the hot water for so long, and he barely massaged her feet like every other pedicure she has gotten. For my full set of acrylics, she glued the tips on my nails and everything started out fine. Then when she started filing, she ended up filing my skin and made me bleed in two different places. The blood was on the nail file, and she continued to use it which I found unsanitary (yes it is my blood, but I do not want it on the rest of my hands). The acrylics themselves are not done well at all. The tips are very uneven, there are globs of glue under my nails and around my nail beds, and they are bumpy. Then for the polish I showed the woman two pictures; one was the the set of nails I wanted, the other was a picture of different purples that I wanted. She confused the pictures, and painted each finger a different shade of purple after I had already explained to her that I wanted three of my fingers to be the SAME shade of purple, and the other two to be WHITE with different colored purple lines. She started to paint YELLOW lines, and at that point I was fed up so I told her no and to just do a white design (which isn't done very well). I just said okay to the polish because it was clear she didn't understand what I wanted even with a picture and me explaining what I wanted, so I told her I liked it because I just wanted to leave. My nails are currently aching from how rough she was with them, and the skin around my nails is hurting because of all the glue that I've had to rip off it, not to mention all of the paint that was on my fingers and hands. My mom did call on our way home to say that I wasn't satisfied with my nails, and they offered to let me come in and have them repainted, but I honestly didn't feel comfortable letting them touch my nails again after how badly these turned out. It was a nice gesture on their part, but the whole experience was too bad for me to go back and have them repainted. read more

I have been to Nail Addict a few times over the years, and I have always had a positive experience. However, my past visit was less than positive. My bridesmaids and I came with an appointment to have our nails done for my wedding. My maid of honor came all the way from Chesapeake only to be told that she would have to wait 45 minutes to have her nails done because she was 2 minutes past their 5 minute grace period. She decided that this was ridiculous and left, leaving us all disappointed that she couldn't be there with the group. Another bridesmaid who came from Gloucester was told that she could not get acrylic nails because we did not specify what she wanted when we made the appointment, so she did not get her nails done. The receptionist was very rude towards them and me. I got my pedicure done first, and that was a relatively positive experience. However, everything started going downhill for me when my manicure started. My cuticles were not cleaned up very well and I still had many hang nails and dead skin left (see pictures). After being bounced around from station to station, being told "it will only be a few more minutes," my wait was about 30 minutes to have my nails done. Finally, just as I was about to give up and leave, a nail tech had me come over to her station on the other side of the salon. This is where things really got bad. I have had many gel french manicures before, but this was by far the sloppiest I have ever had. My tech was on her phone the majority of my visit and hardly spoke to me or looked at me. I felt like I was bothering her. She hand-painted the tips on with a small brush instead of doing it the normal way (making a thick white line then cleaning it up with nail polish remover). Just by looking at it, you can tell that they were hand drawn (see pictures). I didn't notice how bad of a job she had done until I left and got in my car. After getting a few opinions from other people to see if I was just being dramatic (and I wasn't), I decided to call to see if I could get them re-done for free. Thankfully, they allowed me to come in 2 days later with no charge. A day after I had my nails done, three of my nails peeled. I have a desk job and do not do a lot with my hands, therefore, this told me just how bad of a job this tech did. Thank goodness that I had my nails done 4 days before my wedding, otherwise I would have had peeled nails for my wedding. I am giving them 3 stars because my second visit was more positive. There was a different receptionist and she was a lot more friendly than the other. My nail tech, Mai, did a phenomenal job, and she made sure that my nails were done properly (again, see pictures). Perhaps I just had a new tech and the salon was having an off-day. However, I will be hesitant to come back because it seems to me like this place is hit-or-miss. Considering that everyone at the salon knew that my visit was for my wedding from the moment I made the appointment, everything should have been done properly the first time. read more

First of all, the employee that did my nails was very snappy and rude. She messed up on a design on my nails and when I said something about it she fixed it but she was VERY rude and rough. To add insult to injury I overheard her talking to her fellow coworkers about me. The manager, Maria is not professional at all. She's so rude to her employees, she degraded and belittles them.
