The owner, Alex, has the worst attitude and sense of entitlement. He was late for my apt and I arrived an hour earlier just to soak. I asked him not to destroy my nail bed by taking a fake nail to lift acrylic from my nail. He proceeded to argue with me while tearing up my nail bed, shredding it. He argued that he only had an hr in between clients and needed to use the fastest method. It was not my fault you were late getting to me. But he still argued my entire appointment that he was going to continue his way and if I wasn't happy to go somewhere else. I simply asked to soak if rather ripped off. Ladies look around. Not only do they maintain a sense of entitlement, but they use dirty drill bits. They are supposed to sanitize each in between each customer to prevent the spread of disease just in case of a nick.. Nope, not done! They don't care about type health. They just want your money. Then, to add insult up injury, one of my nails chipped in less than 12 hours after! I'll be taking my money to someone who understands healthy nail care and does just as good of a job and doesn't do a sloppy job because they don't get time management. read more

I wish it was possible to give this 0 stars. I went here because a friend of mine recommended them. When I called for directions, the woman I spoke to on the phone was rude and even hung up on me. I blew it off and went anyway because I had an event I had to attend later on in the evening. When I got there, I was seated at the circle. The woman who did my nails was watching TV the whole time. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she said she could do that for me no problem. When she was shaping and filing my nails she kept telling me to "be light" with my hands even though I was. Once she began painting she took her time which was nice but once she put the powder on it, she kept reassuring me that it was going to turn out alright as she was speaking to her coworker who kept making faces at my nails. I was confused and also very upset. She told me "this is very difficult to do." When she was done she just stared at my nails and said "Come back in two weeks and I'll fix it up" and left my nails looking like what they did in the pictures. I left out crying because they looked so awful. I will NEVER EVER come back to this awful place. The polish was unfinished, too thick, and the shaping was bad. I love coming to this nail salon. I have been coming here for years. They are one of the few nail salons in Newport News that do a very good job. If you are a return customer you will notice the family like environment within the shop with the employees and customers. They have no problem correcting the nail design until I am pleased. People have to remember that they are paying for a service and they should pay for what they want and not leave until they are satisfied. I wants came in on the fly to get a nail repair fixed and they did it on the spot with no questions asked. This is the type of service and appreciation that I look for. read more

I went in here today for a fill, gel acrylic manicure. I made an appt yesterday but I called letting them know I'd be a few minutes late. There was no issue, when I came in i sat down immediately with the technician named Anne. She was friendly and gave advice about my nails, but still did them exactly as I like. So, it was nice that the tech took me as her first appointment to fit me in as she is the most sought after tech in the shop. However, she did very poorly. Not to mention, I showed a picture and the powder she used was very pink, while the picture I showed was closer to nude. My thumbs and pointer fingers are not the same at all (shown in pictures). I'm not sure if she was rushing or just being lazy. It's been about 2 weeks now and they are starting to look bad. Also, their price board says 55$+ for ombré but I was charged 65$ and I'm not sure why because I got them shorter and didn't add jewelry or anything special. I honestly felt like she took advantage of me because it was my first time coming to her and my friend recommended me. I will not be returning to this shop. I inquired about what time they closed and was told last client is taken at 7:15. So I assumed I was fine to go at 6 p.m. without being rushed. There was nobody after me and while she did a fantastic job on my pedicure my manicure was a joke...it wasn't a manicure. I think she just wanted to get out early (she finished 5 minutes after the last client was taken). I could tell she wanted to get out...so when she started buffing my nails down tearing up my cuticles I decided not to say anything since I thought she must've misunderstood and thought I wanted just a polish change. The gel is gooped on and will peel in no time. My cuticles are pretty bad too. But then she tells me it's $50 and I questioned it. She said I didn't ask for it so I dropped it but left quite annoyed. They charge $1 to use card, and $2 to use colors on the front wall. I'm not picky (I didn't say anything about the bubbles or hang nails)...but I couldn't believe she charged me $50 for a basic pedicure and polish change that she rushed through. read more

The nail techs are great. I have been a loyal customer here but lately the customer service is horrible. I have to wait every visit and the price change every visit for the same service. I will not return to this salon my hard earned money will be spent wisely and they do not understand the importance of customer service. I wish thete would be a 0 rating and way to upload a pictures, so everyone can see what kind of "pedicure" was performed here. I stopped by today to get a manicure and pedicure done. I end up with wasting 1 hour of my time on awful pedicure and refused to get a manicure. These are the issues: 1. Water was barely warm. 2. Foot file was slightly touching my foot. 3. 2 ladies tried to put a nail polish on my toe' nails unsuccessfully; 1 hour later I told them I was done and told them to just put on clear polish. 4. My shes were messed up with nail polish been smeared on the inside. 5. After I paid $26 for this "art" and walked outside in the sun, I saw how horrible my cuticles looked and nails were filed unevenly. I will never come back to this place. read more

I went several times over the summer and felt rushed but they were busy so I downplayed it. They did a decent if hurried job and the prices are reasonable. I've been twice this fall, both times the salon was basically empty and still was rushed through my pedicure. The last time she didn't use base coat under my color and then told me I didn't need it. Not sure I'll go back again. You shouldn't be rushed if no one is waiting for your chair. read more

Deviated from my regular salon as I was in a crunch on my lunch break. I wasn't too thrilled with the layout of the salon or some of their sanitation techniques (or lack thereof), but overall the tech did a good job and got me out within an hour. I've been going to this place for 11 years. They always treat me like an old friend, ask me how's my family and take great care of me. They don't charge much. Every time I try going somewhere else I regret it. They even stayed after closing to do nails for me and my bridal party the night before my wedding a few years ago. Got acrylic coffin shape done, I walked outside and saw how misshapen the nails were. I went back in to explain that I was not satisfied. First thing they said is, no refunds. The lady who did them to begin with argued with me about me not saying anything while in the store. The nails definitely look different without nail polish. Then she passed me on to someone else. This new lady preceded to file down my nail. I was still not satisfied cause now they are even shorter. To make a long story short. I got the acrylic removed. They WILL NOT refund. One lady even told me, you always want to win and you will not win this game. The language barrier makes communicating difficult. The customer service is horrible. I do not recommend this place and I will never come back. read more

The worst place I've ever been to. I should've left immediately. My first impression, dirty. But this place was recommended. So, I decided to try it. Not only was I rushed, I was cut several times. I started to pull away as the girl filed because I was that scared. My nails looked so bad I cried as I filed and fixed them since I didn't have time to remove them completely. The pedicure, was just awful. They charge for every little thing. A decent salon does not charge anything extra to use name brand polishes. It's not worth it. Very nice and professional. Good eye brows (I like mine to look clean but natural- not pencil thin... They listened an gave me what I wanted and continue todo so no matter who I go to) it's a bit like a factory though, always busy lots of people who bring their kids and let them run around. My mother & I have been going here for years & it's only gotten worse. They are rude, they rush through your nails, rough, and their prices are unstable. Being that we are frequent customers, I would assume that they would get it together. They charge you for every little thing. I enjoy that they layer the acrylic thick enough so your nails don't break, but lately my nails have been thin. They don't help go ensure the health or longevity of your nails. They are ok but I wouldn't recommend this place. read more
