The high school girls getting their nails done looked perfect. Mine were half done. Sloppy. She didn't even bother to cut my cuticles. She rushed me out of there so she can get to her next client. We have also gotten our other friends to come to Kate and they also love her. Kate is an independent nail artist and is absolutely amazing at what she does. She pays attention to detail, will take time to prepare your nails properly (including proper gel removal that won't damage your nails), and is super sweet and mindful all around. I certainly did, along with the amazing results she produces.. this and her insanely low prices compared to nail salons (I would be paying around $200 at other salons for the same complicated designs I get vs less than $100) are what got me and many others hooked. SHE ONLY DOES GEL (no extensions) BUT LISTEN UP FOLKS.. the gel she uses is so STRONG. I used to think only SNS could keep my nails long and strong but NO. I keep my naturally long nails now with her gel and they rarely break.. and I have WEAK thin nails. Now, to the cons: - I have had a couple of gel manicure that peeled off within a day or two. - many of their nail polishes are old, and you can tell that by the consistency of the polish, or by the fact that it indent within a few hours of application. - I have also had regular nail polish applied that would literally peel off like a sticker and then a couple of hours of application. - I was also surprised that they stopped offering the paraffin wax dip for regular manicures. I really loved those. - they charge +$1 for every extra color they apply for children. I think that's crazy! If your kid wants 5 colors applies, for example, that is $5 extra! I hope they get their act together because they were really good and their technicians are good for the most part.

Instead, they insisted on working over a set that was done at a different salon, saying it would "save me money" and that my current set still looked good. I never asked to save money and did not want to work over my current set. While, I appreciate them giving me the option to keep my current set, it's ultimately my choice if I want to keep the set or remove it. The pricing is clearly listed on their website, and I booked accordingly and paid the $90 deposit. I knew that I'd be paying more for a full set. I specifically wanted a completely fresh set to start the new year, which is why I booked this appointment in the first place. Additionally, one of my cuticles was cut too deeply and it's bleeding. On a positive note, I did receive the color I requested, and the gel application itself was neat.
