It was my first and second time doing SNS + tips, and Linh was so kind and accommodating to all my questions and needs. She was patient whenever I requested any changes to length and kindly encouraged me to come to her anytime in the future for any quick fixes. She also stayed way past closing time to finish the details on my nails!!! The second time I went, I saw Trina, who was also very kind and welcoming. She gave me a pedicure, and she and Linh went the extra mile to combine two shades to find the right one to match my SNS nails. 4/5 stars! TM is the ONLY Salon I will go to from now on! I have tried almost every nail salon in Arlington and I have found the best one in town! The staff is so friendly and they are perfectionists. Kim and Andy are the best in the business- they make my nails perfect every time. I am very particular about my nails (color, shape and length) and Andy listens to what I want and they come out exactly how I want them. All my roommates go to this salon as well and we won't go anywhere else. Their customer service is the best- always available, friendly and professional. One time I forgot cash for a tip, I felt so bad and told her I would run to an ATM and she said "No, no, no, don't worry about it." Another time, I was in there getting my nails done and I told them I didn't have time for a pedicure (even though I clearly needed one) and Kim just did a quick touch up while I sat there getting my manicure. I offered money for it but she would not take it. They also do perfect eyebrows- I am even more picky about my eyebrows and they are exactly how I like them every time. I just moved to the area and tried out a couple nail salons. This place looked clean so I wanted to give it a try. I believe the owner, older male did my nails. Even after explaining to him what I wanted and how I wanted it, he assured me that he knew what he was doing and knows what I want... I wanted a thin layer of polish, and pointy nails. Nothing of what I wanted reflects my nails after getting them done at this salon. But the main reason I am writing this review is because the make who did my nails was sneezing and wiping his nose with the same tissues over and over again without sanitizing his hands while working with my hands!? So I moved to Arlington a little over a year ago, and I have not been hopping from one nail salon to another. It's been very difficult to find the right spot. Other salons had very rude technicians, long wait, or just simply did a poor job. I started getting "pink and white" last year and unfortunately not every salon does it, or if they do, they must not have well experience technicians that do it often. After hearing good things about Nails 2000 just two blocks away, I decided to check it out. My nails looked amazing but two days later they were all breaking. I gave them another chance and my nails lasted about a week. Feeling really frustrated, I was going to try to find a new salon in D.C. Due to the horrible parking in D.C I decided I will check again to see if there is a good salon in the Arlington area. TM Nails had great reviews so I decided to give them a try and get a pink and white fill in. SOOOOO glad I did! I came in early afternoon so it was empty. The technician Kathy took her time and made sure I was happy with every detail. Because it was just a fill, they are not "perfect", however they are way better than before! My nails came back to life! After I paid for my nails, Kathy realized she had overcharged me by $5 and gave me the change back. I was confused so she showed me the price list in their brochure and explained I didn't need to tip her since my cc was already charged for more than the amount due. Although it's the good and smart thing to do if you want a repeat customer, I was still surprised she was honest with me. This was the worst gel manicure/pedicure I've ever gotten. My pedicure chipped right when I got home, and the lady who was my technician was very rude and acted like I had never been to a nail salon...She also used a clear polish that was completely stained red. Hello......get some new polish. The gel manicure was also awful. The technician used yet another base coat/top coat that left splotches and discoloration. I asked about it multiple times and she disregarded my comments. She also had to literally "touch up" every single nail because she was so uncoordinated with the brush. To top it all off, they didn't clean or have new nail equipment - which in this day and age is absolutely disguising. I almost left without paying. Amazing service! I've tried many nail locations in the North Arlington area but nothing compares to the quality and care TM Nails offers. They have awesome deals and discounts for students and they've recently renovated the entire salon. High quality products and great employees make it the best nail salon I've visited in a long time. I'm a regular and I'm happy to say I haven't come across a better gel manicure within a 15 mile radius. The only reason I'm giving such a raving review is because I feel they've really earned it! I had a spa manicure gift certificate that expires 12-15-2013 and they refused to honor it because they are the new owners.....what a cheat. When you buy a business you honor their gift certificates. To make it worse, he called the old owner, who now owns ARLINGTON NAIL AND SPA and told me they would honor it. I drove over there only to be told they would not take it either... This place sucks!!!!!! They do a terrible job! Horrible. Do not go here!!! I've been a few times and was giving it one more chance but this time was the worst. They completely screwed up my gel manicure and on three fingers had to drill etc the polish off and start again. This was obviously very time consuming. However, it still wasn't fixed properly and looks like a little kid did it. I also got a pedicure today and they should have not even charged me for the worst manicure ever but only gave me $8 off. That's it- I'm never going back. The last time I went was horrible as well- my pedicure. These people obviously are not trained. They're just trying to do any random thing to make money!!!! I have been to this salon many times, over 20. This past visit,I was the only patron, 2 woman on staff, 1 man. 1/2 way through my pedicure, one of the women is heard screaming and slapping her little girl (under age 4) in the back. The child is sobbing, I then see in the hall reflection her grab her and throw her in the bathroom. Next I hear the child being slamming against the walls. I start raising my voice and demanding one of the employees go back there and stop this violence immediately. The woman doing my pedicure, says not to worry, the mother is just joking around. I say no, someone better stop this. The man (evidentially the husband/ father) walks toward the bathroom and acts like he is stopping this attack. He neglects to realize I see his reflection as well and he is just standing in the hallway outside the bathroom while this child is being beaten. The child is left alone in the bathroom, light out. I leave and call the police. Please consider this if you are going to visit this shop. I will never step foot in there again and can only hope the Arlington police and child protective services get involved. read more

I'll never go back here, the place was no how, no way clean. I ended up here because I had a dinner in Arlington & my usual place was full. It was the most uncomfortable, unsoothing, mani/pedi I've ever had. It's not a spa atmosphere at all, it's small & cramped & dirty. My pedi is fine, but my mani is THE worst I've ever had, I could have done it myself better. I told the technician that I liked my finger nails short (vs. long) so she cuts them way, way short! Go to American Nails around the corner from this place, in the Harrison Teeter/Starbucks shopping center on Harrison, you'll be glad you did - they do get busy though. I needed a manicure which I usually get every three weeks. I was long overdue and decided to try this place after reading the reviews. I didn't go to American nails in the Harris teeter mall because they use mitts and do not soak your hands for the manicure. This place doesn't soak either apparently. I knew we were off to a rough start because I could feel a few pinches but no blood was drawn.... yet. Yes eventually she did cut me and it became apparent after she put on the polish I had brought. She basically tried to blame me because my cuticles were to dry. That may be so but knowing that and the fact that I was the only person in the salon, maybe she could have made sure that cuticles were ready to be cut rather than proceeding if she knew the possibility was there. Sorry, I've been going to them since they opened and go regularly about every 2 weeks. I moved from American Nails at their suggestion because they own both salons. The attitude has really changed. I will not be going back. Even when they are not busy if you're 5 minutes late for an appointment, they made me feel like I a child. I was 7 minutes late this week and there were 3 techs there and I was the third customer and I was scolded by 2 of the ladies who worked there. Though there have been times I've waited for them and have never said a word to them. I wanted to scream, this is a way of life people, sometimes I may be late and sometimes you're late - I accommodate you and you should accommodate me. When my regular place couldn't fit me in, I tried TM Nails. Mai did a wonderful job and her leg massage was fabulous. So, when I needed another pedicure I called to see if she was available. A friend and I decided on a whim to get our nails done, now flip flop season is upon us! We chose TM Nails Salon because of previous yelp reviews- and we are so glad we did. The ladies welcomed us with smiles, had us sign in (I guess so they can keep track of what services they do throughout the day) and took us in straight away. My friend wanted a gel manicure, so she chose her color and was taken to her table and started on. Meanwhile, I was having a standard pedicure and gel French manicure. They worked on my pedicure first- and it's a testament to how gentle and professional they are, that for someone who hates having her feet touched- I actually enjoyed it! My friend's manicure was beautifully shaped and applied, as were my French gels. I expect them to last me a long time! My 2 services came to $60, and my friend's, $30. I will definitely be back over the course of the summer- thank you, lovely ladies of TM Nails! read more

There are wide variations in the reviews here, so I wanted to share my experience. Their manicures and pedicures are top-notch and long-lasting. My pedicure lasts a full month - and I get compliments. My manicure lasts about one week (10 days if I remember to put on gloves before washing dishes or wiping floors). Therefore, this is my fifth (and final) nail salon in the McLean/Arlington area. In addition to being VERY affordable, the technicians are well-trained and polite. I have used almost all of them, at one time or another. Their equipment is clean and comfortable, and I have NEVER had a problem with infection (unlike two other salons in McLean). There doesn't appear to be ANY squabbling among the technicians (again, unlike other McLean salons), and they are extremely patient when performing the service and when waiting for you to feel comfortable leaving. I often will choose a nail color, and my primary technician will offer her opinion that it might not look like I intended. She typically puts the color on her nail to show me, and invariably she is right! I have never regretted changing the polish to her recommendation. Again, I consistently receive compliments on my manicure, too. As others have said, I almost hesitated to set the record straight because I don't want TM Nail Salon to be overrun with business. However, I think some of the comments have been unfair and untrue, in my experience, and I don't want these great women to be harmed. read more

A friend recommended this salon, because I'm Brazilian, just moved back to the States from Brazil, and I was looking for a place to get Brazilian bikini wax. When I first lived here in NOVA area, I used to go to this place in Dupont Circle, that besides the fact it was overpriced in my opinion (US$ 60.00 for Brazilian bikini wax - for someone that used to pay R$20.00 reais in Brazil for it, which is the equivalent of around US$9.00 dollars, yes, US$ 60.00 was overpriced), the service was not very good, letting me super sore and even swollen afterwards. So I've found Tammy and she's been saving my life since then! She is the salon owner and the person that does my Brazilian wax. She uses a different technique than the one I was used in Brazil, but the results are as good as the ones I always got around there. She is a perfectionist, she won't let you leave without taking every hair out, even if she needs to take the last ones with a tweezers. Another positive thing about her is that even being a perfectionist, she is really fast, so if you are not very familiar with Brazilian waxing, or just don't feel comfortable with someone staring at your intimates areas, that's the place to go, because she'll be done before you even think about it. And the price, that's one of the best parts too! I've seen deals on Groupon for Brazilian waxing and I laugh about it, because the deal price for those salons on groupon is the full price I usually pay at TM. Last time I was there I also did my nails with her, did this new powder nails, that is supposed to be this new thing better than gel.... and I also loved it. That was the first time I did my nails there, but I'm also about to become a regular over there to do my nails too. I've done my nails some places here in Alexandria that had an ok service, but were a little bit sketchy about cleanliness and hygiene. So I'm definitely sticking to TM from now on, that besides the good price for nails too, is very clean. I have had problems finding places that do good manicures in this area. My friend suggested that I try TM Nails. It is located about 25 minutes from my house and it was well worth the drive!! I got one of the best pedicures ever! The technician was very friendly and did an amazing job on my feet. I bruise easily so I do not like to get my legs massaged much because I've been bruised badly in the past. She was very careful not to massage past a certain point on my leg and asked me if the pressure felt ok. She really took her time on my feet and made them look and feel wonderful!! Also, the place was very clean. This is the only place I will go from here on out to get my pedicure done. read more

TM Nails is located behind Mother's Macaroons and next to the Safeway. The experience is very relaxing, beginning with the easy parking in front of the salon. The recently renovated decor is very attractive and clean. Kim & Andy, the new owners, are very nice and always welcome me with a smile and an offer of hot tea or a glass of water. I get manicures and pedicures every 3 weeks and get many compliments on my nails. I have been going here for years, and before today, I would have always given them 4-5 stars. But after today, I am never going back. I was there with my sister, and was discussing the fact that I am currently pregnant. The women there overheard me, and try to upcharge me for a much more expensive "chemical free" pedicure and manicure. I told them that every website, my doctor, and all my apps said regular manicures and pedicures were fine, and declined. They were rude and annoyed that I would not purchase this more expensive package. Next, the woman told me that the nail polish color I had picked was ugly, and not appropriate for spring. I said I wanted it anyway and she shook her head at me. While she was doing my pedicure, I asked her to use a razor on my foot. She gave me an attitude, told me it was unnecessary and tried to skip it. I insisted on using the razor, which she used for *maybe* 5 seconds on each foot before telling me that was enough. She rushed through my pedicure, which she finished at least 10 minutes before my sister, despite the fact that my pedicure was started later. I had a similar experience with my manicure, which she rushed through in about 10 minutes, after first yelling at me that my nails were too short. She told me they were "impossible to file" and refused to file them. I just sort of stared at her so she filed a few of my nails but mostly just scratched my finger tips and said again that my nails were too short to file (they were not). When I tried to pay (for myself and my sister) they tried to refuse giving her the student discount, despite the fact that her license showed she is 22, and she produced a current GMU student ID. I was completely flabbergasted by the entire experience, and will definitely not be back. It's a bummer because for years, I have gone here at least every two weeks and really enjoyed it. I could overlook a bad manicure, but rude service to a regular? They won't get a second chance from me. read more

This review is strictly for the waxing services; I've never had any manicure or pedicure services here. I came in to get a full leg wax because I forgot to make an appointment with my usual lady and needed one that morning. It was great they could accommodate a walk-in, and Tammy was VERY nice. That's the end of the pros, though. I'm used to having my legs waxed with hot wax and strips; I've never had a bad reaction or any complaints. At TM Nails, they have a contraption that the hot wax is poured into, and then rolled onto your skin. I don't think it lets enough wax out at a time, and it definitely doesn't keep it hot. As we started, I noticed she was waxing over the same area several times, and as we went on and the wax cooled, it was excruciatingly painful to apply. Then she had to stop twice to refill. Finally, she went ahead and started spreading the wax with sticks, but was using some strange brown stuff (she said it was the wax she uses for eyebrows and face) that didn't work. For the last portion of my wax, she ended up bringing over the right type of wax and finished me out that way. It was uncomfortable, messy, and time consuming but if it had resulted in a decent wax I would have completely been fine with it. I noticed later in the day there were some angry red patches on my legs. She had managed to rip the top layer of my skin off in some places!! Now it's been over a week later and those patches are still on my skin, unhealed. I look like I have some creepy skin infection. In ADDITION to that, half the hair on my legs is...still on my legs. My inner thighs, the back of knees, and the back of my thighs look like they weren't touched. I was charged extra for the service, and the fact that I may as well have saved my money (and my skin) and had the same amount of hair (pretty much) as before has really made me angrier and angrier. I've been waxing my legs monthly for 3 years, and have never had something like this happen. Usually, I'm in and out in 30 minutes, max. And have always left completely smooth before; my usual lady pulls out tweezers after finishing the wax and gets any stubborn hairs that way, then has me look myself over to make sure she didn't miss anything before she lets me go. This was a horrible, uncomfortable experience, and my legs have NEVER been in such awful shape!!! And it cost $10 MORE than a good wax. I can't speak to how they are with nails, but if you are interested in a wax (and in keeping your skin) stay FAR, FAR AWAY from this place!!! read more

This place changed ownership in the summer and isn't the same. On my last visit in early November, Rose tore into the corners of my toenails causing a lot of pain and bleeding. After refusing the salt scrub three times, she still gave it to me. My skin is sensitive so I ended up paying an extra $10 to be in pain. I should have said something, but that's not my personality. Plus the actual polish was less than spectacular. Beware! I noticed that the old owners rented a larger space at the corner of Glebe and George Mason. I created an account just to review this establishment. I had come here a few times to get my eyebrows done, but this time the woman who did them seemed totally incompetent. It was in a dark room and the only mirror I was able to check her work in was a large wall mirror that was completely out of the light. It wasn't until I got to my car and saw my right eyebrow was virtually unchanged. I assumed if I ran back inside (after giving her a generous tip) she would be happy to actually remove the hair. Unfortunately, she seemed pissed off that I came back and rewaxed the area without preparing the skin and ended up ripping off the skin below my brow. It was so painful that I just left, still unhappy with the job she had done. I assumed that the swelling would go down in max two hours, but my eye was red and swollen for two days (I do NOT have sensitive skin so this was unusual) and by the third day it became a red scar under my brow. I could not wear eye makeup, because the area is so sensitive and more seriously I am terrified of possible infections from the salon. Neither I nor my family will ever be returning for any type of services there. I've posted a photo of my eye three days AFTER I went into TM Nails. It's embarrassing and it looks like I was punched it the eye. I advise you do not go here especially for any type of waxing services. read more

TM Nail Salon changed owners earlier this year. As a longtime every 2 week customer, I was unsure about the change at first. I am happy to report the new owners are great. They have invested in upgrading the equipment and fixtures and it's cleaner than ever. The new owners are wonderfully kind and friendly. Perhaps most importantly they do a great job on my nails (possibly even better than the old staff.). I have a standing appointment for a silk wrap manicure with Andy. When looking for a great place to get a mani/pedi on the cheap, I saw all of the great reviews and sought out this salon based on the reviews below. Positives: --The place closes at 8pm M-F and I had a mani/pedi scheduled for 7pm and they didn't rush me to get out by 8. --The girl doing my nails did a nice job, was very sweet and stayed until 8:45 to make sure my nails were dry. Negatives: --I had higher expectations for the personnel here. I came in knowing exactly what Essie shade I wanted for my pedi and when I gave it to the lady, she looked at me like I was crazy and said, that's not the color that will look best, showed me the better one, and when I said, "thank you but I'd like this one", she said, "Okay, if that's what you want but I do this all the time so I know what I'm talking about"... Unwilling to put up a fight for my color choice, I gave into her attitude and judgmental comments in Vietnamese to the girl working next to her. Overall, the final color choice was fine but the white part of the nail was too wide and I didn't want to take up more of her time after she had already made it thinner once. She was pretty short with me all around even though I was being really polite the entire time. --Massage chair wasn't good. --Maybe its because I'm new to the area but I wasn't expecting to pay $48 for a french mani/pedi at a place that has "great prices". I am so happy I found this nail salon. It's been right down the street since I moved here 2 years ago but never really saw it since its not facing Lee Hwy. What a little gem! I got to "T " for shellac manis/pedis and she is the only nail tech I've ever had guarantee the result for 2 weeks! She Is SUPER sweet and you can tell she genuinely cares about her customers' experiences. She likes what she does and it shows in the quality of her work. I dont have to do anything once I'm there. She moves my stuff around for me and gets my keys out and ready for me just to be double sure I don't mess up my nails. Her attention to detail is second to none! Another unique aspect of this little gem, T calls to remind me of my appointments and that is rare in a nail salon! It's a quiet and relaxing environment too which is HUGE for me since I rarely get quiet time. Their prices are very competitive and more than worth it for the efficiency and quality you get. I went for gel manicure last week and my nails chipped within 3 days. The tech did not file or clip my nails at all. I said something, but she still didn't clip them. When I came in, all my nails were different shapes and lengths. This was the only time I had before Christmas to have time for myself. I am very upset.
