Typically I have a great experience at nail society almost all staff is fully capable. However, yesterday I got a gel manicure with a very simple design and that the nail tech was unable to execute. I did what any millennial would do.... Left without complaint and attempted to fix them at home myself. But because these nails are for my engagement photos I decided it would be worth it to call and complain. Not only did they blame me, they were refused to fix them and told me I should have said something while I was there. Which makes no sense because the tach had another client waiting and did a rushed job and everyone in the shop could see the service was unsatisfactory. PLEASE SPECIFY WHICH TECHS HAVE LIMITED TALENTS!! It should not be the responsibility of the general public to determine which nail tech is the best fit for a standard gel manicure. So, I'm not somebody who ever feels the need to leave a review for everything, but after my experience at Nail Society, I knew that needed to change. I've had a hard time finding a nail salon, both in Philadelphia and outside, that can take care of my nails. They seem to break super easily, and I've had issues in the past getting a beautiful gel manicure only to have my nails break a week later. And, even when finding a good salon, I would have a problem with rude technicians or not accepting credit cards (I hate carrying cash, what can I say). There is so much to love about Nail Society. I went in for an eyebrow wax and gel manicure. I'm always afraid that my eyebrows will be made too thin so I have a hard time finding somebody new to do it. I made sure to specify that I wanted to keep them thick and the shape and thickness did not disappoint! I found them to be perfectly shaped and kept thick enough. As well, I did not find the wax to be harsh on my skin and did not have a problem with bumps around my eyebrows, even after waiting a few hours before I was able to put lotion around my eyebrows. Now, onto the gel manicure. My technician, Lynn, was so sweet and helpful with picking colors and a nail design. I did not tell her about my issues with nails breaking, but it didn't even matter, because she did such an amazing job trimming and shaping my nails. Even when she was done, the polish did not feel heavy on my nails, and I knew that this would be a manicure to last. Overall, a nail salon with super nice and talented people. MUST READ: This had to be the most AWFUL nail salon experience I have ever had in my entire life and I wish I could say I am exaggerating but I'm not. My first and last time getting my nails done here. The review on BOTH Yelp and Google are accurate and truthful when it comes to the salons customer service. How do I know? Simple, I was charged $140 to cover two basic manicures ($15 each) and what was supposed to be two Spa Pedicures ($30+ each). Apparently the women who did our feet performed an Organic Pedicure for $55 each even though she clearly OFFERED SPA pedicure over and over again to us. I never got a receipt so when my significant other told me how much the total was I was in disbelief. They also did not give a receipt physically or emailed one. The next day we called to address about it and like previous comments said the salon tried to shift blame on the consumers and saying we paid for the services there's nothing they can do about it. I had to pull up the salon right after that phone call because we needed to make sense of this. I want reviewers and future consumers to know it took everything in my soul not to lose my cool when I walked back into this place because I hate dishonest business owners and what makes matters worse is I tipped both women $25 because they essentially did do a good job only to find out they were dishonest! The audacity of it all. Then they have this appointment policy of $25 deposits which are non-refundable to figure and this policy isn't even posted on the sign in the salon. That's damn near stealing money from customers. In addition according to the website if you didn't show up the salon were going to charge you ADDITIONAL for that! Which the website does not list the fee price! I included the screenshot as proof, I can't make this up. The fact that we went on a whole expedition for their website is another story in itself. When I did get to the salon I expressed that I was really upset as a customer I felt lied to and that's simply not how you do business and requested the deposit back because that was the least that could have been done. To make matters worse now it's days later and my nails look absolutely terrible the polish started chipping the next day. These were not the regular wear and tear chips these were chunks of polish coming off. The salon has a nice aesthetic, the potential to be great but they really need lessons on customer service because this isn't it. The woman who did my nails clearly didn't like me for some reason and yelled at a me like I was a toddler. Her name was My Luong. The matte coat on top of my dip powder nails is already peeling and I got them done an hour ago. The black powder is also all over my hands and won't come off. I have acrylic on my nails and it's been about 3 weeks or more that I haven't been to a salon for a refill. I wasn't sure I wanted to do a refill as I was considering taking a break but decided to get my nails done since we do have the holidays coming up. This was my first time going to Nail Society as it was recommended to me by a friend. She gave me a phone number to text so that I request an appointment. Someone replied to me as soon as they opened, I booked my appt and sent $25 Venmo deposit, which is later deducted to your final amount. My nail tech, Roxanne, brought my nails back to LIFE. She was so nice, did an amazing job & shaped them perfectly and I love the color, perfect for the fall/thanksgiving. I originally booked my appt as a nail, acrylic refill and gel pedicure but because my nails needed a little more TLC, I didn't have enough time to do a pedicure. Roxanne did a gel polish change instead and did a great job in just 10 mins or so. Salon is nice and clean, pretty decor and everyone seems so friendly. It was my first time here and unfortunately will be my last. My nails look awful. They took me as a walk in but were rushed to get their appointments in on time... if they didn't have the time to do a decent job they shouldn't have taken me. I left with acrylics that were lumpy, lifted at cuticles, all uneven lengths and honestly just disgusting. The owner and Hannah both worked on my nails, both rushed, left glue all over the misshapen, jagged claws that were too big for my natural nails. Decided to try somewhere new and got a dip. The color is not what I wanted/expected and the top coat left so many air bubbles. Most importantly, she filed so deep into my nail beds that they're scratched up and really hurts. She also used her own finger nails to push my cuticles back, which is gross. I come here because I live near by- they do an okay job but NEVER respect appointment times. For example, I had a 5:50 pm appointment and was kept waiting for 40 minutes. I have been going to Rittenhouse Nails for a decade, but Nail Society is close to my house so thought I'd give it a try. I called to see if I needed an appointment and was told they could take me right away. In fact it was empty when I got there which I think is thanks to the Eagles game (go Birds). The woman who did my gel manicure was very nice and personable. They don't use CND Shellac here which is my regular brand, but I found a color similar to the one I like in OPI. This is the only place I've been to that doesn't use acetone to get the polish off which is great. The process was quick. The only downside was that the nails on my left hand have a slightly bulbous look which I think is from uneven UV light exposure. The lamp is under the table so I couldn't really see how my hand was positioned inside. All in all it was a good experience and you can't beat the price ($30 for gel manicure). It's such a beautiful and posh space. They've got all the nail polish colors of the rainbow and an have an incredible spa pedicure. What a beautiful new salon in NoLibs! It's got great decor and is very clean and sanitary. You can see that the tools are packaged and sterile before they start working on you and disposed of after use. The service is great as is their attention to detail. The staff and owners are really friendly. I was a walk-in and treated myself and got a signature pedicure. Super fancy! Rose pedals, paraffin dip, and a cup of bubbly (or coffee/tea if bubbly isn't your thing). Plus the chairs are like thrones!! It was hands down the best pedicure I've ever gotten. I went to the shop for the first time today. I asked for a design for my gel manicure and a pedicure. The girl who did my design was having a little trouble with the polish but kept the best attitude and followed through with the design. The owner of the shop was very helpful and came over to help her along the way to make sure it worked. When I got done with my gel mani, I reminded them I wanted a pedicure too to which they completed in good spirit, EVEN THOUGH THEY CLOSED AT 7 and I didn't leave the salon until a little after 8. Let me just say everything was PERFECT!!! For starters the salon was pitch clean. Very chic and glamorous designs. They have ton of colors to choose from. From gel to acrylic and even dip powders. My friend had a dip powder with manicure done and it's been almost a week and a half and it still looks fresh. I've got the gel with European manicure done and it still looks perfect!! That manicure isn't like your basic manicure. I never seen my cuticle looks so clean before. I think that's what made the gel last for so long. I also got Swarovski rhinestone/crystals on. White froofy pillows, jars filled with cookies and cutesy this and that all over the place. I came in for a pedicure ($30) which was good and I enjoyed the huge color selection. The staff were friendly and offered me a drink which was a nice touch. When I was finished with my pedicure, I asked to have my nails shaped/cuticles cut. I'm a nursing student so I'm not allowed to wear any nail polish (not even clear), so I just wanted an express-type mani. They wanted to charge me $12 for something that would have taken 5 minutes. This quaint, romantic, boutique nail salon was just what I needed. I regularly get gel manis and regular pedis on a biweekly basis. This nail salon is clean, well maintained, beautiful in decor, and top notch in their color selections. I habitually get matching toes and nails.. this salon makes sure to have matching gel polish for every regular polish. They have such a wide array of colors (gel and dip powder) and their nail technicians are very meticulous and offer good advice on continued nail care. Staff were not wearing masks! One of them wore a shield that she kept taking off and the other one had her mask down while sitting on the sofa. Do not go there if you are unvaccinated. Those plexiglass barriers will not protect you-when the unmasked manicurist who is less than 3 ft away talks or even breathes, she's spreading her droplets all over this small poorly ventilated salon. Nails always end up great but be prepared to wait if you book an appointment. I sat there two times with acetone on my nails for 30 minutes and the skin pealed off on one of my fingers and was there for a 90 minutes for a gel manicure. I tried again today asked if they had time when I called & said yes. Again, taken right away this time for a gel soak off to regular manicure. My technician soaked my nails and started and finished a pedicure from start to finish. 60 minutes to just leave with clear because I just couldn't wait.
