Just bad news, all the way around. The salon is messy. Even though I had an appointment and they weren't busy, I had to wait 15 minutes. The male co-owner never greeted me, never even looked me in the yes. While he was doing the pedicure he was watching something on his iPhone the entire time! He was very rough and not paying attention. The entire treatment took only 20 minutes, and it looked like it. I could have done a better job myself. I got a Brazilian wax and left with ripped/raw skin. I got burns from this waxing. I had to be on strong antibiotics for a month. It was one of the worst pains I've ever had to go through. It doesn't feel like waxing at all. It feelings like ripping fresh skin right off your bod. read more

This review is more and on the absurdity of their prices. My mom and I went in for a mani/pedi. I added on an eyebrow wax, and, after much convincing, a facial. I had the guy doing my nails. I let him know I was getting married, so, my nails needed to be perfect. He did a stellar job. I opted for gel. My mom did regular. The woman doing my moms nails didn't listen to her in regard to color. My mom wanted a particular color and the woman tried to get her to do a different color. Anyway, my moms nails looked mediocre. Pretty disappointing. I ended up getting a facial, and, it was excruciatingly painful. The woman scrubbed the heck out of my face and I admit, I have dark circles under my eyes, well, they look more like bruises from her rubbing under my eyes. It was an awful experience. I do not recommend. The fun part came at the end when it was time to pay...here is the breakdown. . Gel mani/pedi with addition of their "box" which was lotion, exfoliation gel and 2 powders for the water $170 Regular mani/pedi with addition of the same box from above $170 Eyebrow wax $15 Facial $150 Complete ripoff. We live in Kona and I won't be visiting this salon again. Shame on me for not calling them out on $170 for a mani/pedi. It is unfortunate, But, I learned a lesson. Honestly, I swore I would not go back to Nail Trixx after a terrible experience a few years ago at the one by The Club, but this was the one on Palani, it was late on a Saturday, and I couldn't find anyone to take me as a walk-in. Mimi gave me a wonderful massage in the deluxe pedi, and was extremely fastidious with the pedicure. I did a natural/buff manicure and she was so careful and detailed with the buffer. Where do I even start? This place is just gross and very unprofessional. I called early last Friday to see if I can make an appointment for my daughter and I, who was turning four! She really wanted to get matching pedicures and Nail Trixx said they could get us in together..so we locked in the appointment for us two. Upon showing up early for our appointment , we were instructed to select our polish. Let me tell you something, it took us awhile to find polish (they have about 200 or so) that was fresh and still moving. Every one of the polishes I picked up was dry dry dry. I went with a color I didn't even want bc of the issue. While trying to pick out a color, I couldn't help but notice how dirty the place was. The pedicure seats are ancient and not once did I see anyone sanitize the chairs and bowls after someone left. Not one. We get to the chairs they selected for us and there was a man who was going to do my pedicure (which I learned he was the owner) and a lady who was going to do my daughters. Her name was Pume. Pume is why we stayed. Pume started on my daughters feet. The man, never caught his name ended up WALKING AWAY FROM MY PEDICURE to help someone else who was getting a Fill... I then too learned a fill is more $$ for them then a lousy pedicure. I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT. Needless to say, I never got my pedicure. I just sat there, with my feet in the bowl watching my daughter get her pedicure done even though we were supposed to do this together. We had an APPOINTMENT. Just straight up rude. Did I say dirty?? I took some pics of the place. See for yourself. The towel the OWNER was going to use on me had recent blood stains on it. I examined it while I was in the chair and yep, recent dirty blood stains. How is this place still open??? It blows my mind. Maybe bc of their cheap prices? If you want cheap, crappy.. rude service go here. Aloha, did a walk in on dec 23 around 1pm, the place feels ok, I was asked what I wanted? I needed my acrylics replaced w gels. I was told would be 1/2 hour to wait, which is ok for a walk in, the gentleman doing the nails is a no nonsense pro, took a few to get into his rhythm but he definitely is a pro. He removed my old acrylic and was like watching a well practiced expert create my nails. All in all good experience and w all the work felt price was justified, end result was beautiful. Only glitch was about 1/2 way though, a very rude demanding walk in demanding immediate attention, I cant fault the shop, Bottom line: this is a no nonsense shop. As a trans I felt ok and received no derogatory from staff. I came in on the 20th with a friend. I got a pedicure and they asked me multiple times if I wanted a gel Polish and I kept saying no. When she had me choose a color she handed me a book of gel Polish and I told her I wanted normal Polish and she said those are all of the colors that they had. I was misled with the pricing and I did not want gel Polish and was charge an extra $40 for that. My friend was getting a manicure as well and I was thinking about getting one so I showed my hand to the manicures and said I had a little cut and I didn't want to get bananas done and she told me it wouldn't be a problem. The technician insisted and decided to cut the try skin off the top of my cut before putting my hard under the uv light. This was before I knew that they legally were not allowed to touch your hands or feet with a cut, mind you they gave my friend a pedicure with a cut on her foot as well. I noticed I was unable to bear any pressure on my finger tip and the next day it ended up so infected I had to go to the emergency room and have it drained. They were able to find an eyelash in the cut she decided to cut open some more and that's what caused the infection.. When I contacted this along they tried to make it my problem.. She said that I should not have asked for a manicure if my finger was caught even though it was their staff that pushed it on me. I got the worst pedicure of my life, they removed none of my dead skin my dad's skin, they cut my finger in causing infection, and charged me over a $100 there's and they're basically calling me a liar even though they sent me screenshots of the security footage with me being in the salon and they can even see me showing the cut to the technician. I would not recommend this salon. Mind you I am pregnant and said this when i came in and told them that i can not risk any infection and they told me it would not be a problem read more

I don't often leave reviews but not leaving a review for this place would be doing a disservice to the public. I'm from Georgia and I'm visiting Kona with my mom. We decided we'd like to get a pedicure and we came across Nail Trixx. We walked in and asked for a pedicure and I immediately noticed that they don't use bags in their pedicure bowls. They just fill the bowl and clean it with Lysol after. This was the first red flag that I should have listened to. Next, the place is not well kept at all. It's filthy. The towel are dirty, there's dust everywhere like they haven't cleaned in years and I never saw anyone clean their tools that they used. They charge $35 for a regular pedicure and when mine was done, my feet were still rough. When I asked the lady to fix it, she explained that it would be $10 more. Fine. I'd just received a pedicure from home in GA the week prior so I didn't need new polish because I had gel. I just wanted a cleanup of the excess skin and for my heels to be smoothed. Ultimately I paid $50 for the worst pedicure I've ever had in an extremely dirty location. read more

I've been looking for a relaxing pedicure with foot spa in Kona. A friend recommended Nail Trixx at Lanihau. I went there looking forward for a relaxing and comforting 40 minutes. I am devastedly disappointed with the service TOM has given me. I felt like he is disgusted with my foot. I just gave birth and wanted to relax a bit. Instead of a good relaxing massage he was pounding my foot with his hands like he was mad at me. My foot is swollen after the session. He's not worth tipping I give him a tip anyway. Definitely not worth $50 for a 40 minutes deluxe pedicure. It was barely 20 minutes service. Tom did not even offer to put a clear coat nail polish since I didn't like a colored nail polish. My big toes is now swollen most likely infected. I don't think they sanitize their cleaning tools. The most irritating part is he was on his phone more than working to clean and massage my foot. If you are a Filipino don't let TOM do your mani pedi. You will waste your money. I felt him being a racist and doesn't like Pinay's in general. read more

I've submitted for your review a picture of my thumb very soon after receiving above-mentioned bad manicure. I would at least expect that my nail would be well shaped but this was not the case for my thumb or any other fingers on either hand. This place is absolutely terrible. Do NOT waste your money and go elsewhere. I walked in for a mani/pedi around 2pm and there was no wait. The male owner did my nails. I asked for a gel hybrid which appeared as a new technique. The owner didnt say a word, there was no ambiance, there was DIRTY finger nail clippings from someone else still on the table. Then he was rushing through doing my nails with no pride in his work. I'm usually a great tipper to those who deserve it but he was extremely rough with my nails and I asked him to relax and slow down. Then after he put the gel on my nails, they were super bumpy and some part of the nail was viability missing gel which I asked him to fix. He had attitude and the other worker came over and was trying to say that they look fine, which they didn't. He ended up "fixing" them but was completely rude about it. My nails are so uneven looking and he didn't even smooth down the cuticle part of the nails. At the end of my walk in, I told them I no longer wanted the pedi due to poor hygiene and poor quality of work I was given. I will never be returning. I found this salon while googling for a nail place, my family and i are here on vaca. I read a lot of negative reviews, but with them answering the phone and having an opening i figured i would gave it a try. It was better than expected. The owner did my nails. He was very polite, had conversation with me, and knew exactly what i wanted (i wanted pink and white ombré fill). I was very pleased and my nails look perfect. He did so good i asked him if i can take him back to Oahu with me to be my nail tech. I hope this review gives a more positive light to this shop, because i had a great experience. read more

Unfortunately, I showed up a few minutes late because the website said it closes at 7 pm during the weekday. I was grunted at when I came in and I couldnt understand so I said, "excuse me' which made the male owner grunt at me even more. Once I got into the other room to get my eyebrows waxed, I asked Mimi to put a fresh paper towel down as I didn't want to put my head/hair on the used towel/blanket they had. She said they were out of paper, so I fumbled through my purse to find something I could put my head on. Right in front of me, she pulled a box out of paper towels out, opened the seal of tape and put down a paper towel. It was obvious that she did not want to waste it on me although it was a case of paper towels. My waxing was unusually long today as I always come here to get my eyebrows waxed. After she was done, I looked in the mirror that she gave me and noticed that half of eyebrow was gone over my left eye. I didn't know what to do at first, so I paid and went to my car. I looked in my rear view mirror and went back in to tell her that she took half of my eyebrow off and she told me that I came in like that (which I didn't). I left and as I stepped off of the curb onto the parking lot, I heard the owners and employees laughing and it "felt" like they were laughing at me. Since they speak in Vietnamese, one can only tell by the intonations. As I reached my car (the second time), I looked in the mirror again and saw the half eyebrow gone. I went back to ask for a refund and said that I would not return. She gave me $15 back for a $15.94 bill (which ended up being $20 with a tip). I told her I gave paid $20 on my credit card. She begrudgingly found $20 cash and told me never to come back. And I told her I never would. These people are frugal and stingy. I have been coming here for 6 years and every time they want to use less for their services whether it's a pedicure or eyebrow waxing. Furthermore, I would say that they done have the cleanest of shops. I wouldn't recommend Nail Trixx especially after my last experience. Frankly, 1 star is too much. read more

I decided to give Nail Trixx a try for a full Acrylic Set. I usually go here for my eyebrows because one of the worker knows how to shape my eyebrows and she's a pro at it. But when it comes to Acrylic the guy did my naiI think he was the owner he was very harsh and going at a fast pace where my fingernail started bleeding due to getting poked multiple time. It was very unfinished there was areas where the nail paint is all fucked up I WILL NEVER COME BACK HERE TO GET MY NAILS DONE!!! Our first day in Hawaii and my friend suggests we get pedi's so that our toes will look cute in sandals. Great idea! We ask for recommendations from locals, and Nail Trixx is it. On a Sunday afternoon, this place is hoppin'! Walk ins are welcome, and they got us in right away in spite of the fact that they seem extremely busy. Massage chairs, for those of you who like that. I'm weird, I don't. I think it was $43 for mani/pedi combo. I paid $8 extra for a lovely flower design on my big toes (though she didn't tell me that when she showed me the optional designs), and they charged my friend $5 extra for NOT getting polish on her fingernails... they said it was for extra buffing but her nails didn't look any more buffed than mine. So, reasonable prices, but watch out for the "hidden" charges. My fingers and toes looked great, and it didn't break the bank like a trip to one of the hotel spas would have. They prefer their tips in cash. I know, all service folks do, but they actually have a sign telling you this. read more

Not a fan. Very pricey gel pedicure. Had prior gel in place a completely different color. Didn't even remove all of it before applying new gel. Once gel applied, noticed base of polish thick and raised along the cuticle which will cause the gel to peel prematurely as the nail grows out. Air bubbles within the nail bed very noticeable. No attention to detail especially when paying the amount they charge. Massage chair broken. read more

I am Jim's wife and I just had the most horrendous experience in a nail salon. I am visiting Hawaii from the states and needed a fill. Walked into this salon at 9:00 with an appointment and the nail technician was 15 minutes late. Told her I wanted dip method. She was extremely difficult to understand throughout the appointment and was often mumbling which confused me. She keep assuring me when I inquired that it was the dip method. It was not. She kept filing the nails and subsequently took off layers of skin around nails. My skin is now red, swollen, and painful. End result was oddly misshapen nails ( one is entirely crooked), polish is a disaster - uneven with rookie edges - Looks like a child did it, took forever, paid a ridiculous price. I'm totally embarrassed by the result. Wish I could give zero stars. Do not go to this salon. Don't mix it up with another salon close by that used to have the name Trixx too. i don't understand how people can be so rude in this store. way too overpriced, got charged way too much. when my cousin gave the man the inspiration for her nails, he first didn't have the right color. then, he tried to do it and it looked horrible. he ended up doing over and over again. he kept on wiping it off and trying to put it back. it looked nothing like the design, so my cousin ended up saying that she didn't like it. he took it all off, and used a drill. he ended up cracking the nail, and it would've stayed the same until she said something. she ended up getting a solid color, with no refund. whenever she moved her hand he would grunt and give her a dirty look. not to mention, there was a cockroach in there. overall, it was dirty and not a great experience on my vacation. read more

If you read all of these reviews and still choose to go here, then consider yourself fairly warned. We only chose this place for our group because three people we knew had had good experiences. Unfortunately, I made an appointment here two weeks ahead of time, despite the bad Yelp reviews. We came as a group of 5 on a Monday to get mani-pedi gels for a competition we were to be in on Thursday. My intuition told me to show up early to make sure everything was all set. Good thing I did. Turns out NO ONE had any idea we were coming (SERIOUSLY?!). So the guy who answered the phone when I called to make the appointment did what after he hung up? Did he expect to remember the appointment two weeks later? So, they called in a few extra people. I started early and by the time the rest of the group showed up they were fully staffed. BUT they started running out of the color we were using on our nail tips. They had to pass the bottle between the manicurists and the pedicurists because that bottle was all they had. This was natural color, not anything fancy, mind you. There was a major assembly line of mani-pedis going on. You would have thought they were booked solid for the rest of the day, the way they raced through each one of us. I had to wait 20 minutes just to pay...because no one could be bothered to take my money in the midst of their hurry to get us all done and out of there. They weren't rude, just acted as though our fingers and toes were on fire! Two days later, the one gal who had tips put on lost one of the tips. Two of my nails were already peeling and two other folks experienced the same. In all, out of five of us, four of us had a very substandard experience. I've had my nails done here on the Big Island before (not at TRIXX) and they lasted five weeks before there was any chipping whatsoever (why didn't I go back there?) It's 8 days later and I went back today to get them to take off the gel on my finger nails. Another in our group went back three days ago and had them redo hers. I didn't think that was such a great idea...I mean, why would I get the same bad job a second time? They rightly performed these services for free. So, if you want an absolutely substandard experience, please ignore this review and go to TRIXX for your nails. If you want beautiful nails, go ANYWHERE else...I could have done a much better job than they did with a blindfold on. read more

The salon seemed dirty, the towels they used at my station seemed dirty and the pumice stone wasn't fresh. I didn't see anyone sanitize any of the tools or tubs and to top it off ended up with an ingrown toenail after my pedicure. I was a walk-in customer with my daughter. I got pedi and gel mani. My daughter got a pedi. Worker, playing on her phone, had rude attitude from the get go. Never showed any kind of personality, except anger... until it was time to up-sell my 9 yr old daughter with asking if she wanted flowers or diamonds on her nails. When my daughter was choosing her color, she had asked if they had a certain color. The worker told her what they had on the wall was what they had. But when she was DONE (+diamonds), she said, "Wait, I do have that color." She gets it out of her nail station. "That's the one I'm wearing!" No massage at all for my mani or pedi! To take off my old gel polish, she poured the solution into a bowl and had me hold my fingertips in the solution, balancing the bowl on my lap while I'm getting my pedi. When the soaking was done, she sucked back up the used solution into the bottle to be used again! She had a guy put on the top coat of gel mani. He painted so sloppily, painting and drying it with the skin stuck around all of the nails! In less than a week my nails were all peeling off because it had released from my skin and had flaps all around the edges! Bill = $93! read more
