Owner was very rude. Tried to book an appointment today. She said she was fully booked. Requested to make a reservation for tmrw. Asked what times she was available and she said "tmrw afternoon". Very vague and extremely not helpful. Asked if I can reserve tmrw at 12 and she said okay, but did not bother to take down my name, email or phone number for my reservation. Lady sounds extremely snobby, and is very unprofessional. Would not recommend. Quality of service is horrible. read more

I was on my honeymoon and needed my acrylic nails removed. I called and they were able to squeeze me in same day. They will make you feel like Ohana from when you walk in the door-- I really needed some "me time" and it was fun to chat with them and have a few laughs-- made me feel right at home. If you are on vacation or live on TBI full time-- booking with them is a no brainer! Make sure you book ahead of time as their appointment slots fill up quickly. Bonnie did my nails and she did an excellent job. I know she had to work a little harder getting the old polish off (who knows what that other salon used on my nails ‍) But, she took her time and made sure not to damage my nails. After she prepped my nails she then actually took time helping me pick my color. I fell like that's such a frustrating part and loved having help!! They turned out perfectly-- see the photos!!!! Also, remember if you buy a gift card-- they are independent contractors and you need to book with who sold you the card but, you can't go wrong with either Bonnie or Mary Jane! Generosity & compassionate are not adjectives typically used for nail salons, yet they can define the character of a person and of a business. I broke my gelled nails on a rock in a rather painful location. I called and described my problem and pain and they said to come me on in. Maryjane not only knew what to do but was also very creative in doing it. It was evident from the casual, comfortable banter in the salon that the atmosphere was friendly while they also got the job done. This is totally me and my pickiness for a great pedicure. I look forward to a massage chair, foot bath, great massage and 1 hour of being spoiled. I have even been offered a beverage/wine/beer at other places. So with that being said ...I was quoted $42 over the phone...higher than others charge so my expecTa were high. Here is the positives... relaxing music playing, she grabbed a tool box so Im assumIng clean, very gentle trimming, paint was ok. Easy parking. Pleasant personality. My disappointments: Her client got up and She told me to sit in the same chair. No wipe down and a towel was oon the floor. I took off my shoes but I dont know if she placed a new towel down. Maybe. Didnt see. No massage or adjustable supportive chair. I am tall with a lower back problem. I sat in pain lifting my leg to set foot on her lap. My knee hurt too. Massage was a very gentle 5-10 min massage. She used a wallmart type foot bath. It is no for me on coming for a pedi. Hands may be ok. Met the minimum for a pedicure. read more

I am a part time resident and called to see if I could get a nail repaired. She couldn't do it then because she was going to dentist. I popped in 2.5 hours later to see if anyone was free to fix my nail. The lady had her back to me and told me in an irritating voice "I told you I couldn't do it over the phone". Great nail salon! I'm staying here on Ali'i Drive and Aloha Nails is close by. I called and Mary Jane had an opening that was very convenient. She did an awesome job! She and Bonnie are both very friendly and the shop is very comfortable. Prices are what you'd expect for a high end nail salon in Hawaii. They have a decent choice of nail polishes and can do fun designs. I'd definitely go back next time I am in Hawaii. I had a great experience booking and scheduling my mani/ pedi. MaryJane was quick to respond to my message. They have a loyal clientele, it is a clean and efficient operation. She was cheery, right on time both in starting and completing. They have a great selection of gel colors --nice and bright, and regular OPI polish both with sparkles and without. Don't try to get your nails done here if you're kanaka or kama'aina. My mother and my aunt walked in here to a judgemental once over, a lame "We're booked for two weeks" excuse, and a hostile attitude. They noted that the customers and staff were only Caucasian. People shouldn't use "Aloha" as part of their business if they don't understand its meaning, and only intend to use it to capitalize on it. Also, don't move to Kanaka homelands when harboring prejudices against them. read more

I first went to Mary Jane @ Aloha Nail Co at the end of July, 2021, about a week after arriving here for approximately a one year stay to housesit for a childhood friend and her husband so that they could come and go as they pleased. I obtained a same day appointment with Mary Jane and enjoyed a mani/pedi as well as an enjoyable visit with her. The service was exceptional and my nails and toes lasted very nicely. Today, nearly 3 months later, I called and was able to make my next appointment on the day I asked for and first thing in the morning. I was hoping to relax and get our nails done with my girls before my wedding, but we ended up getting an hour of exposure to toxic air. Upon walking in, we were hit by a wall of paint thinner smell. It was such a relief to leave the place so I could breathe air again. It must be a health code violation because we were told that the whole car smelled like it when we were picked up after our session. The two ladies were very nice and I think they did a decent job on their solid colored nails, but my french tips were so uneven - in thickness of the tip and the thickness of the nail color. Some parts were white and other parts were more translucent because she didn't get an even coat on. You didn't need to have OCD like me to notice the huge variation between the tips. Unfortunately, the toxic air of the place is enough to keep me away from here if there are any future needs for nail care. read more

I'm looking up the number for a nail salon I go to and came across this salon that instantly brought up a bad memory I experienced at this place that left me p*ssed off. I had pulled up into a parking stall well away from the front door and as I started to head towards the door I took one last drag off my cigarette. Omg !!! Either the owner or employee came running out the door screaming about the cigarette. It was so uncalled for that I simply turned around and drove off and got my pedicure elsewhere. I called for an appointment before going on duty for a 48 hour shift. The appointment was for 15 minutes after my 48 hour shift ended. My job prohibits personal cell phones on shift. The nail tech, I believe her name was Barbara, had called my phone the day before my appointment was scheduled to confirm. I had only made the appointment the night before that. I was on duty and did not get her call until I was rushing out of work to go to my appointment with her. When I did not return her call immediately, she had called me back to tell me she was canceling my appointment since I did not return her call. What the heck? I went to my sister's wedding that night with horrible toes. People at the wedding had similar complaints. If you don't want to work, why the heck did you take the appointment in the first place, Barbara? Disgusted. read more

They are great I had some time to spare and they got me in right away, Mary Jane was so accommodating and it was a fun and friendly atmosphere in the shop. They are conveniently located on Alli Dr and the shop is clean and comfortable. They make you feel very welcome! I was impressed with prices and services they offered, they have a wide variety of polish colors to choose from and offer cute nail decorations. I will be back for regular pedicures and have already recommended them to several good friends as a fun place to switch to for nail services. I'm not sure what the other two reviews are talking about. I have gone to Mary Jane at Aloha Nails many times and have NEVER had a bad experience or a bad manicure/pedicure! The smell must have happened before they changed the A/C. I was there last week and the air was fine. Mary Jane is an absolute perfectionist and the pedicures always last, at least, three weeks! Both Bonnie and Mary Jane have been in business for twenty years and are extremely skilled nail technicians, and going to their shop is like visiting friends. My sister wanted to treat us to a mani &/or pedi before her wedding. We came here since the hotel's salon cancelled last minute (BOO!) When we walked in, the massive toxic smell of who knows what slammed us in the face. Their a/c was blasting so they didn't want the doors open. If you're sensitive to smells, this place is not for you. The service was great--Bonnie did my toes, and she did my sister's manicure. But the french tips on the manicure were crooked and not smooth at all. The pedicure looked fine from afar, but upon closer inspection, there was nail polish on my skin. She did clean it up, but I guess not enough. Again, she was very friendly and nice, but not very detail oriented. Too bad. read more

I forgot to write an update this year. Both Bonnie and Mary Jane are excellent (as you can see by the past reviews). This year both manicures/pedicures were with Mary Jane (one jell; one regular) and I loved both sets. However...the REAL reason I realized I come to Aloha is that the two ladies are living examples of the meaning of their ALOHA name. The first trip, Bonnie was away doing a "home visit" for a 92 house-bound long-term client. The second trip, Mary Jane described going the previous day to City of Refuge for the scattering of ashes for a former client. When I went back with a broken nail, Mary Jane was telling me that she wouldn't make the Sunrise Rotary meeting (we are both Rotarians and I go to her club as a visitor) because she was taking a client to the hospital. In other words, I finally understood the scene in "LEGALLY BLONDE" when Elle slams on the brakes as she sees a manicure salon and meets and bonds with Paulette, who understands her problems, works with her, and befriends her while filing her nails. I took my 3 daughters to Bonnie and Mary Jane. Ages 7, 13, and 14. We all had finger nails done (gel, acrylic) and they painted the girls toenails and I had a pedicure as well. The ladies were absolutely fabulous! Very friendly, very kind to my daughters, and accommodating to their nail color, "accent" nail request, etc. I was offered coffee several times. I've been having my nails done by Mary Jane at Aloha Nail Company for as long as the shop has been open (and even before that). The pedicures are awesome and there's always that special foot massage that goes with it. The prices are very competitive and the quality of the work is perfect. I won't go anywhere else! I often receive compliments on my nails from people I meet during the day. I know that Mary Jane and Bonnie take great pride in the cleanliness of their instruments, so I feel very safe from the germs and stuff you find in some of the big establishments.
