If you want a cute gel x design, ask for Lily! I called in to schedule with her after I got off work and it was a bit busy, but she took me and did a phenomenal job. I told her that I wanted black french tips with a few designs and showed her the inspo pics. If you just show her a picture, she can do it for you. I was able to get this set done in a little over an hour. She is also super sweet! I'm booking with her every time I go here!

I last minute decided to try this spot as it's closeby, had availability on short notice and seemed like the reviews weren't too bad. I'm extremely particular with my nails and felt like I wanted to try something new but even from the phone call to schedule the appointment itself was rude, tool cleanliness was not the best and the paint job itself was rushed I had to go to my regular salon to fix them as they also shaped my right toe slanted which has never been that shape. I wouldn't go back and for anyone that is particular with their pedicures please be aware of the quality you're getting.

Lily did exactly what I asked for and she was so sweet. Honestly everyone in the shop was very nice. I will be back and do recommend going!

Been coming here a long time, mostly because the work is normally high quality and long lasting. Today was different. It was busy, which isn't unusual for a Saturday morning. However my nail tech today (she may possibly be the owner or manager or both) was constantly answering her phone from clients, checking on other clients in the salon, working on others while also working on my service. The end result? A longer than normal service, really rough cuticle area and uneven nail shape from filing. I hope this is a one off situation and not going to be the norm.

So impressed with Lilly and this manicure! She was so fast and did an incredible job (and I'm picky). I will go back here every time!!

This place is ALWAYS my go to especially with my nail designs. They are so detailed and precise with it. I knew after trying a different salon and my nails looking nothing like the design that I couldn't go anywhere else but here for my nails. I called nails at southshore up the next day and they fixed my nails to the exact design I wanted.

Found this salon on a whim and it's such a gem! Everyone here is so friendly and sweet. Lily is so good- I love how meticulous she is with every step. It's been a while since I've had this GelX set and they are definitely worth it. Make an appointment if you don't want to wait too long :)

LOVE coming here! I included photos of my most recent sets from here. They all looked so good!! Usually I am skeptical about certain nail salons being able to achieve intricate designs (I've had a lot of failed experiences at other places) but so far Nails@Southshore has been delivering!! And because they are so reasonably priced, it makes me want to frequently go back to get my nails updated without feeling like I have to sell an arm and a leg LOL. The only downside is that I noticed that this salon doesn't put as much emphasis on cuticle clean up, but that's something I'm okay with as the nail itself is what I care more about! So just FYI! Definitely going to be coming back again!!

I love my nails! I came in not sure what I wanted, since I usually get Gel-X, but once we saw how long and healthy my natural nails were, we decided to keep them -- and I'm so glad we did. The pedicure was beautiful as always, and Lily did an amazing job on my manicure. We did a French tip with a gold accent and a little diamond bling for the perfect classy sparkle. This is my go-to nail salon at South Shore. The team is always kind, consistent, and detailed. Highly recommend!

I wanted to give this shop another try because the first time l came, I got gel x and they were super clean and pretty and their pedicures always come out so neat. Aesthetically they're pretty good. I came in yesterday and it wasn't super busy as it has been the past two times I've been. I came in to do a gel builder and gel pedi combo. The lady that did my pedicure was through, kind, and my toes turned out great! So clean! At the same time, another lady started working on my hands and I knew she knew her stuff but honestly she kept stopping and talking the entirety of my appointment. I usually don't mind when the nail technicians talk amongst each other but it was excessive this time around especially because she'd stop just to talk to other people and although I'd say it didn't take super long, it was a bit uncomfortable to just sit there. On top of that, one of my nails has already chipped and I haven't necessarily done much since getting them done not even 24 hours ago, and a one nail has something under the gel. Cleanliness is a huge thing too and it doesn't seem like they throughly clean the materials used (towels, hand dryers, etc). Price wise is pretty fair but I'm not sure if I'd come back. Update: another nail just chipped lol.

Decided to visit based on a friend's recommendation and I had time to do my nails prior to a trip. I was a walk-in, so there was quite a wait until I could be seen, so appointments are highly recommended before coming in the future. This was my first time getting Gel-X nails with a design, and I was not disappointed! They do their best to follow the pics and design you bring to them, and the attention to detail definitely shines in the results. The nail colors are very vibrant and stand out in a beautiful way. Regarding the length of my nails, I wanted them as short as possible but still able to fit a design in - which my nail tech was able to accommodate wonderfully. Price-wise, Gel-X nails begin at $55 and + $20 for the design. Unfortunately I do not reside in this area, but if I were to visit again I will definitely make sure to pay a stop here and get my nails done!

I recently got my mani and pedi for my graduation here and I am more than happy with the sets!!! They are so fast as well. Very kind and they do great designs. Not too expensive either. I was hopeful to try this salon as it had fairly decent reviews and photos looked good. I've been looking for a nail salon in Alameda since my previous salon is a bit too far. However my experience was less than ideal. I went in wanting dip as I was reading it was stronger and I've been struggling with lifting off builder gel. Multiple staff kept talking out of it and that their builder gel lasts a long time, uncomfortable but hopeful I said okay since Builder Gel is better for your nails in the long run. I got one color, builder gel on natural nails, and just a simple shape. Nothing too complicated I haven't gotten elsewhere before. I went home and thought it was fine for the money, $45 for builder gel + $8 tip. Probably wasn't going to return but also wasn't going to write a review. However, after 1 day my pointer finger nail chipped and started lifting and my middle finger also started lifting. I called and they said to come in and they would fix it. I went in and sat for 30 minutes until someone saw me -- had 3 different people come look my nails in the meantime but never start prep process, etc. After 30 minutes I was taken to a different station and she took maybe 15 minutes to "fix" the issue. Upon leaving and having a time to look better at my nails I still left unsatisfied. I chose not to go back a third time as I don't feel confident they will be able to actually do my nails well. I gave 2 stars as they did offer and attempt to fix my nails and didn't charge me for the "fix." I would be cautious going here as it seems your experience may vary... read more

I relocated to the Bay in 2024 and had been searching for a while for a go-to nail tech in Alameda, and I'm so glad I found Lily! She's puts a lot of care in to her work, she works fast, and her designs always come out amazing. Every appointment feels easy and relaxed, and I always leave loving my nails. Called on a whim to get pedicures with my besties and they had spots opened on a Tuesday afternoon . When I stepped in I was kind of shook . First thing I noticed was how unsanitary the place seems to be . Walls were dirty and so was bathroom . Just very unorganized and messy. Staff was kind, but we won't be coming back . read more

I needed to get my nails ready for the holidays and got Helen this time to help with my fill. She was super nice, and I didn't have to say much for her to even know exactly what I wanted. My friend and I had an appointment at 4:45 pm but still waited around 30-40 minutes, which was a bit of a bummer, but I was able to walk around and grab some things I needed. After seated, I just told Helen I wanted to change my shape from square to short almond, and I wanted red catseye. (I LOVE their collection of catseye here) She immediately knew what I was talking about and said no problem, I know what you want. I was worried at first since she didn't show me the book, but she literally got the color I had in my mind. The shape she did and the color she painted were so nice!! I originally wanted only the heart design on my ring something simple on the others, but she added all the others designs on my other nails and made it super fun. Overall, I really enjoyed this fill and love how it turned out!! read more

Came for a pedicure and probably won't come again. The lady was nice but she burned me twice using the nail drill and poked a little too hard when cleaning the cuticle. The experience was not relaxing because I was afraid she was going to cut/burn me again. Last thing when she put the curing light on my feet she didn't pay attention/going to fast and the my toes hit the light. When I told her she just shrugged (didn't even check to fix) and kept doing it. Luckily it was just the base coat but still. I had legit had to curl my toes so fast so I don't hit the machine because she just plops it. read more

I cannot recommend Nails at South Shore enough! I first went here on my birthday back in August, and they did such an amazing job that I've been coming back ever since. I usually get a Gel X set, and every single time I leave completely satisfied. Lily is my go-to nail tech -- she is incredibly talented, detailed, and consistent. She really takes her time and makes sure everything looks perfect. On top of that, the customer service here is wonderful. Everyone is friendly, welcoming, and professional, which makes the whole experience even better. I honestly wouldn't recommend any other nail shop over Nails at South Shore. Came here on a Thursday afternoon and they were busy! People just kept coming in and out so I recommend making an appt beforehand if possible I didn't have to wait too long for a gel manicure with builder gel and regular pedi since I called beforehand. They are also really reasonably priced which I love! I used to spend $120+ but here it was around $90 before tip. Lily did my nails and she was quick but also precise. I will definitely be coming back! read more

This nail shop is a hit or miss. Everyone is friendly, and the service is great. However, I've noticed many times that they tend to overbook appointments, which can be very frustrating, especially if you're on a time limit. I do love that they stay up to date with trends, know how to do nail designs, and can sometimes work pretty fast. That said, the salon could be a bit cleaner. The restroom didn't have hand soap or paper towels to dry your hands. Overall, I still like coming here often because there's plenty of parking. I would just avoid weekends since it gets very packed. Weekdays tend to be much slower and more manageable. read more

I'm so happy I found this place! I've been trying to find a good nail salon in Alameda since I've moved here and I finally have found a place where I can say-- I LOVE how my nails turned out. Clean, perfectly shaped! they are so thorough here! They got me right in on a Friday evening around 4 o'clock. Lily is AMAZINGGGG! I want to tell the world how great she is but then i'm also conflicted because then she will be booked, and I'll never be able to get in, but she's so worth the wait. Super kind, super patient, super bubbly, always fair with design pricing and does THE BEST DESIGNS. I LITERALLY SHOW HER A PICTURE, AND SHE DOES IT EXACTLY LIKE THAT. Just be prepared to be stopped at least once a day with someone asking where you got your nails done. she has done so many designs for me but I always forget to take pictures. I requested round tips for manicure and got a knife shape tips instead. Both manicure and pedicure women were dismissive, curt, and talking the whole time . This is my third time going and I love it so far. Every time I show them my inspo pic, they find the tech who can do it and it's done perfectly. I stumbled upon Vena's late at night scrolling through Yelp and couldn't be happier! The establishment is clean, the service was amazing, and I'd definitely come back again. I got a basic gel pedicure which was $50. I had grown out gel polish from about 3 months ago that they carefully removed. They even noted that the color I liked was sheer and recommended mixing 2 shades to make the color pop more. Other places would not provide their suggestion. The lady doing my pedicure was careful and kind. It took about 1 hour in total after finishing the gel and doing a massage/lotion with hot stone. I did not expect to be so pampered! I do highly recommend an appointment because they are BUSY! I had my pedicure on a Sunday and while they do take walk-ins, the salon was quite packed with existing appointments. They were honest with the long wait time with folks walking in which I appreciated as other places make you sit without real notice of when they can receive you. I can't wait to come back again and maybe try a manicure next time.

Unfortunately I will have to find a new salon that doesn't charge extra for short nails. Edit: 1 star for Joe's reply. If the fill cost $60 because you have to shape the nails, just say it's $60. The point of getting a fill is to fill in the growth so of course if you keep your nails short, they will need to be cut short. Great work from staff. Dishonest management.

The reason for 3 stars is solely dependent on the amount of time, and how much the services costed, a minor service issue as well, not terrible though. This is my first time here, i was taking a stroll on park and saw this place and peaked in and saw how luxurious and clean it looked, very big open space, lots of massage chairs, so i decided to pop and see for myself. So i stroll in around 4:30pm, for a new set and gel pedi. Typically both services take me at most 2 hours. I get sat down to remove my current acrylic set, this probably took at least 30-45 minutes. From the filing, to the soaking, removal, soaking again, and removal again. This is the longest I've ever experienced a removal. Then comes the cutting and shaping of my natural nails to prep for my new set. Finally i get moved to a massage chair to start my pedicure. I opted for the deluxe so this comes with a variety of things, from what i can remember, at least 2 masks, scrub, 10 minute massage, and hot rocks after. The total for this was $70, which is way more than what i would've normally paid at different locations, but I'm not knocking it, just isn't in my range but can be for someone else. Quality isn't great, but isn't bad. This is where my service issue/frustration comes in. My pedicure took almost 45 mins, and finally someone comes to start my set, or so i thought. She kept moving around, from one person to another, helping another client in between, but there are 3 other workers. I then get moved to a table, and I'm waiting again for about 10 minutes. She sits back down with me, and i thought okay great we're starting forreal now. Nope, we weren't. There was another client waiting, and she stops what she's doing with me, the gentlemen comes over and she moves to help the other client and he's now my nail tech. It is now 6:38pm and we're finally starting my set. Precise time because i was texting my bf to let him know bc this process was just taking so long. And i kid you not, the process from putting on the gel x nails, to shaping, filing, etc etc, i didn't walk out of there until 8:12pm. I did a very basic paint with cat eye polish. Typically 2 layers of paint, but he painted at least 5 layers before starting the cat eye magnetic process... In total i paid $168, and tipped $20. The amount of time spent there and the cost of it all, and being moved around from one person to another, ultimately costed the 2 stars. But again, this is just my experience i am sharing, and not to deter your decision to visit, because the quality of work is there.

First of all, the service is ALWAYS friendly and they do a great job of acknowledging business that walks in and ensuring waiting clients are comfortable; offering water or tea upon entering and providing a spacious, clean and comfortable waiting area. Also, this salon has to be the CLEANEST and most organized nail salon on the island. With recent decor upgrades, it's an even more beautiful and relaxing space. I can appreciate a staff who pays attention to details other than the work they do on nails. Especially with nail service prices climbin in general, it's nice that the salon puts a huge effort for the space to feel luxe and comfortable. Anyway, I came in with bare nails that needed help after 2 months of Gel X sets and fills. I opted for hard gel over my natural (itty bitty) nails to add strength and durability while I grow my natural nails out. For anyone curious, it's very similar to acrylic over natural nails or nail tips but the material is gel based (I think polygel?) The nail tech was kind, patient and thorough. After about an hour of work, my nails looked revived and despite the short length of my natural nails, they still looked bomb and cute. A little sparkly top coat on top of the milky pink hard gel and my manicure was done. I can't wait for my fill appointment when my nails are a bit longer and can start to be shaped out to the medium-short almond length I'm aiming for.

I broke one nail the night before and asked for a gel x one to replace the broken nail. My hope was to maintain the length that I worked hard to grow. The technician chose a nail that didn't fit my finger at all. Proceeded to awkwardly place the nail and glued/cured it down. Not only is it lifted and separated, it's misaligned. I can literally fit a metal file between the real nail and the pressed on one. When I brought this up, she proceeded to tell me that my nail is crooked and that's the reason for the gap.. *cue angelah Johnson's skit* I asked her to take it off and to try an acrylic nail instead since she didn't seem to keen on gel x. She refused and instead filed the sides more to 'fix it'. Bottom line is this, there's really only one token person who does all the different services well. Everyone else either seems to be fillers for simple manicure and pedicures. I'm tired of spending my hard earned money on techs that don't know how to do something you ask but attempts anyway and will not take accountability for when they mess up. This is not a nail school and the prices don't reflect it either. I now have to pay someone else, somewhere else to fix the one nail after spending $90 here. Let this be a PSA: We work too hard to earn our money for these life luxuries. Don't let shops like this make you feel like you're the problem when you bring up their wrong doing. You deserve to get what you pay for. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST.

I recently stopped by Nails at Southshore while visiting South Shore Center. With a trip coming up, I wanted to get a pedicure and have my toes looking pretty, so I decided to take a chance and walk in. The salon wasn't super busy, and they seated me right away, which I appreciated. However, being seated didn't mean the service started immediately, as there was a bit of a wait before they got to me. I requested a pedicure with gel polish. Initially, the spa bath at my chair wasn't ready (no liner), but I ended up switching chairs anyway. The service itself was pleasant, even though it felt a bit like the bare minimum. That said, I enjoyed how my toes turned out and whatever smell they used for my calves. When it was time to pay, I asked if they accepted cards, but they mentioned they prefer Venmo or Zelle, so keep that in mind if you're planning a visit. Would I go back? Came in w/o an appointment but they were quick to assist me. Everytime I get my French tips done by Lily, she DEVOURS. The 3D flower designs are so cute as well but they were done by another nail artist, I unfortunately didn't get her name. 100% recommend this place! read more
