Thank you Kathy!!!! You did such an amazing job for custom design the color for me. The salon is clean and pleasant. Kathy is super nice and friendly. See you next time Kathy!! I'm so glad I find a good quality manicure place on the island and will return for more.

I was in the neighborhood having lunch with my 85 year old mother at 4pm and walked pass the nail bar. My mother said after lunch let's stop by. Once we returned I noticed a sign by appointment and was interested in making one for my mother. The patron said the nail tech would be right back. Once the nail tech returned I asked if she had any availability she quickly said no and turned. She did not inform me of future dates of available appointments or direct me to website to make an appointment. The patron provided better customer service than the nail technician.

I've been coming here for a little over a year now. Kathy is the owner. She's super sweet and professional. BOOKING: You can book (and pay) online or call to book your appointment. Whatever you decide, just know you DO need an appointment. They do not accept walk-ins. PRICE: I think Nailbar is moderately priced. It's not cheap, but it's also not the most extravagant place you could go to. With tip, my gel mani and signature pedicure comes out to ~$70. Even the signature (read: most basic) pedicure comes with a foot scrub and light massage. SERVICES: The customer service here is great. 10/10. The actual nails? Well, they're good. Some of the nail techs are even great... but the salon only offer basic styles and absolutely no extensions -- no acrylics and no hard gel. Can you grow long nails or prefer natural nails in general? Do you like simple, office appropriate styles? Great -- then this may be the place for you. But if you want nail art, even simple line art, you will not find it here. It's a bit disappointing. So in this area, I'd give the salon a 6/10. It's 2020. The people want nail art! THE VIBE: Relaxing. Calm. Think soft soulful sounds from Sade and hot tea (or a mimosa) on a Saturday afternoon, and that's exactly what you'll get at Nailbar. The salon is clean. They're sterilize all of their equipment. The bathroom is clean. They're also aren't any funky or strong odors in the salon. OTHER IMPORTANT NOTES: Parking on Park Street is not free and nearly impossible. Drive a few blocks in the neighborhood and you should be able to find free parking. If you're going to be late (like 10 minutes), give Kathy a call. She runs a tight ship and you don't want your appointment to be given away. Each visit, you're offered a complimentary beverage of your choice -- hot tea, water, a mimosa, or a glass of wine.

Kathy was so sweet and attentive! A spa experience that was so relaxing. She was able to accomplish my nail inspiration I came in with and had great recommendations! 10/10 recommend.

Very impressed with my first visit to Nailbar and it was completely hassled free. I was expecting overly prices mani/pedis given that the location and because of Alameda I would be paying for a simple pedicure, but it was well worth the price and experience. First and foremost, I actually appreciate the online appointment system. It's simple and just so convenient to use because my schedule is always changing, so I can book appointments online (especially last minute) and be able to get seen instead of calling non-stop and hoping that they have something to slip me into. Paying ahead of time? Even better because a lot of nail places: 1. charges you extra to use card 2. your freshly painted nails don't have to be ruined 3. you're guaranteed to be seen 4. paypal and your credit card has great fraud protection services in case something were to happen. I appreciate that Nailbar takes the whole tech concept into consideration and makes it such a smoother process once you arrive for your appointment. I got there early and booked myself a 10:30am on a Tuesday morning. Found some residential parking around the corner to avoid paying. Stepped in and was instantly greeted. The overall experience was great. And omg, amazing foot massage! Great on the pressure and the best I've had. They really paid attention to details and love my perfect toes. White is the best color to go and just above and beyond my expectations. The couches did throw me off when I first walked in, but the concept is chill and relax. I did decline a drink as it was so early and I had walked in with a cup of joe from down the street. Very clean and they line their containers. All tools are new and wrapped. Great selection of polishes, OPI, vegan friendly, and gels are available. I like the focus on just mani/pedis and it's not the type of nail shop where it's loud gossip. You can literally sink into your seat and enjoy yourself. There is free wifi as well. Make sure you tip in cash when you are there. I had a great experience and definitely would be back. Clean is extremely key here.

6/29/19: Made an appointment online the night before. Got there about 20 minutes early. They were so kind to take me in earlier, although I didn't mind to wait. But they insisted to get started on my lavender pedicure right away. They offered me wine once I was comfortable. I felt super special today! Rather than one technician, they had two helping me this visit. One for my pedicure. The other for my manicure. Both were so very wonderful! So gentle that I could've fallen asleep. When they were done, I was able to just relax, answer some emails, and finish my drink. After a few minutes I realized, I was in my own little world, got my sandals on and closed my balance. It felt so nice to not feel like I was taking up their space or be rushed out. Great experience as usual requires a generous tip.

Booking an appointment for Nailbar was very easy whether it's online or on the phone. The only down side is that, you have to pay first online then arrive to your appointment on time. Their Nail Salon is really clean, professional, and friendly that is one of the reason why it is first come first serve. This location gives a good amount of foot and arm massage; they are also very careful and gentle to your cuticles which not a lot of nail technicians do. They had a wide selections of color from nude, vibrant, and sparkle. The service costed me $40 for the signature mani-pedi combo; I feel like this is a comfortable price for the quality of the service and the elegant facility. If you're 21 and up, they offer free wine and mimosa (one per customer). I would definitely come back again to this location, but parking is really hard to find especially if it's meter paid areas.

Airy, bright interior with good service. Major selling points: -ambiance -complimentary adult drinks -no chatty loud employee banter -sanitized tools -regular manis done in chairs -stainless steel bowls for pedis -tablet pay via Clover Standard polish choices: OPI, Zoya and Essie, gel is available also. Lowlights: -nail shaping is uneven, several nails were filed at an angle -polish job could have been neater, pooled at my cuticles -polish is already chipping, two days later -massage was maybe 30 seconds on each hand, not worth the additional cost -felt like an assembly line, one person did the file/clean/shape, massage and another came in for the color Ask about pricing, it's not posted, they have menus stored at the register if you ask.

    Love it!

This place is so amazing!!! And they are friendly, I first messaged them on yelp to see if they had opening. They had messaged me and told me to book online. I tried to book online but the time wasn't available to get the time I wanted so I gave them a call. Kathy picked up and told me to come in, she would be able to assist me. I was coming all the way from SF! Managed to make the appt for 6pm. She told me not to rush and to drive safe because safety comes first. I know some other places have late policy. When I first arrived she told me the packages they had. I went ahead and picked the gel mani with lavender pedi. (Extra 10 min massage with lavender scrub and oil.) it felt more than 10 mins. I felt like my legs were so relaxed I could of fell asleep. During my service there, she offered me drinks... such as wine, champagne, mimosa, hot tea. And water. My eyes popped out! Of course I would want a drink! After a long day of work! ! ! The color I picked out where so pretty!! Kathy took her time to apply each coat and I didn't feel rushed at all. I finished about 8:10pm. Which I felt bad because I wanted them to get off and go home too. But she keeps telling me it was ok and that she don't like to rush, this is why her place is appt base only. Towards the end of the visit, she gave me a stamp card. For each service I do, I'll get a stamp. When i reach 7 stamps I would get a free signature pedi. WHATTTT!! never heard of that!! Which would make me a reason to come here more often! Also, when I paid, she gave me a 10% discount !!! Even more of a plus! Thank you Kathy! I cannot wait to come again!

What a breath of fresh air. Go see my review of Classy Nail Spa for that experience. Came here after that horror show. Basically walked in, sat down immediately. Super friendly, clean and efficient. They don't have the standard massage chairs and footbaths. But in lieu, comfortable side chairs and metal bowls are provided. My tech knew what she was doing. Every nook and stray cuticle was attended to. Overall, a very nice experience. Next time I'm in town, I'll definitely look them up. Well done.

4 stars well deserved as I am fan. Kathy made me feel like a million dollars with excellent tips on how to keep my nails nice and healthy. I booked an appointment there rather than my regular nail bar as they offer a Gel nail recovery manucure that we all ought to use once in a while let's face it. The online booking service is super simple to use and you get no less than 3 reminders.

    Dina T.

I called 30 mins before they're closing time & they took me in. Quickly they greeted me & gave me a warm welcome. Here's a quick run down of WHY i gave them 5 stars. 1. They offer you 1 alcoholic drink to help you relax 2. They actual have the instruments sealed in the autoclave bag (usually other spots just use that bag for looks to make it look like they disinfected and cleaned the nail instruments) 3. They have organic, opi, and NEW nail polishes (the front desk lady said they always get new season polishes which i LOVE) 4. They take apple pay & they dont force you to tip the workers in cash 5. The bathroom is spotless and clean lol... (sorry i judge places by restrooms too) This is a great place to get your nails done if you want good quality & a clean mani pedi.

Ask the Community - Alameda Nailbar

Any word on if this business is open? My nails have been so hideous all summer! And this is the only salon I trust with my feet...

It's open but she only takes appointments, no walk in - go to her website to schedule

    Has the salon been reopened?

Yes just make an appointment online, no walk ins.

Any updates on salon reopening, now that salons are able to reopen?

Unfortunately, Alameda County remains closed until further notice due to coronavirus outbreak ... Take care, stay safe, and healthy.

Are teens aloud in there but not drinking alcohol?

    Yes

Who does coffin nails ( gel fill )?

Keng has done a coffin shape for me in the past.

Anyone know if they allow kids to come in and get a mani / pedi? Hoping to have a "girls" day for my birthday. She is a few months shy of 3yrs.

YES! It's called a "Princess" mani/pedi. I've seen lots of little girls get their nails done. Kathy is so amazing with them!

I'm a little concerned that I had to pre-pay for my service to book an appointment online. However, I'm hoping for the best... Has this proved problematic for anyone?

No issue for me! Just be sure to show up on time so your spot is reserved for you.

Do they good doing designs in ur nails?

    What is your sanitation process?

Files, buffers, and pumices are never reused, and we use disposable liners for each and every pedicure. We use new gloves for each and every service. In addition, we clean and sanitize all tools and equipment after each client.

Where can I reserve an appointment?

You may book online at https://www.alamedanailbar.com/book-online-nailbar

It's been a decade since my last visit, but their exceptional customer service remains as impressive as ever. I recently visited on a Friday evening, hoping to schedule an appointment for the following day. To my delight, they offered me the option to get my full set of gel nails immediately. I literally sat there watching her amazed by her talent and how she was able to get my design so spot on. Like, FINALLYYYY. Now for the salon itself- I came in at 2pm on a Friday and it wasn't too busy, but it definitely started picking up around 2:30ish. I did notice Lily had another appointment who walked in and was booked for 2:40pm when we were still probably another 30 minutes out from being done, so it looks like they overlap her appointments a bit. I think they need to be careful with that because personally, if I have an appointment, I expect to be seen at my appointment time or wait no more than 5- 10 minutes. We all have places to be, right?? Especially when you're booking with someone because you specifically want THAT person. Nails at Southshore is definitely on the smaller side. There aren't a ton of pedicure chairs, I'd say six total and there's not really a waiting area besides literally two folding chairs lol, so that's one thing I think they could improve. BUT, they do seem pretty efficient at getting people in and out. Also, this next part is absolutely NOT their fault but South Shore management really said, "You know what would be perfect right outside a nail salon? A children's playground." So either come with AirPods or be prepared to hear kids screaming while you're getting your nails done because Lily's station is literally right at the front door. I was fighting for my life LOL. Anywaysssss, back to Lily- She's super sweet, VERY talented, took her time and care with my design and absolutely nailed what I wanted. Basically, she's my new nail girl now. I'm locked in. (Photo is 4 weeks out as I failed to take a photo after getting them done. Still looks amazing!)

The reason for 3 stars is solely dependent on the amount of time, and how much the services costed, a minor service issue as well, not terrible though. This is my first time here, i was taking a stroll on park and saw this place and peaked in and saw how luxurious and clean it looked, very big open space, lots of massage chairs, so i decided to pop and see for myself. So i stroll in around 4:30pm, for a new set and gel pedi. Typically both services take me at most 2 hours. I get sat down to remove my current acrylic set, this probably took at least 30-45 minutes. From the filing, to the soaking, removal, soaking again, and removal again. This is the longest I've ever experienced a removal. Then comes the cutting and shaping of my natural nails to prep for my new set. Finally i get moved to a massage chair to start my pedicure. I opted for the deluxe so this comes with a variety of things, from what i can remember, at least 2 masks, scrub, 10 minute massage, and hot rocks after. The total for this was $70, which is way more than what i would've normally paid at different locations, but I'm not knocking it, just isn't in my range but can be for someone else. Quality isn't great, but isn't bad. This is where my service issue/frustration comes in. My pedicure took almost 45 mins, and finally someone comes to start my set, or so i thought. She kept moving around, from one person to another, helping another client in between, but there are 3 other workers. I then get moved to a table, and I'm waiting again for about 10 minutes. She sits back down with me, and i thought okay great we're starting forreal now. Nope, we weren't. There was another client waiting, and she stops what she's doing with me, the gentlemen comes over and she moves to help the other client and he's now my nail tech. It is now 6:38pm and we're finally starting my set. Precise time because i was texting my bf to let him know bc this process was just taking so long. And i kid you not, the process from putting on the gel x nails, to shaping, filing, etc etc, i didn't walk out of there until 8:12pm. I did a very basic paint with cat eye polish. Typically 2 layers of paint, but he painted at least 5 layers before starting the cat eye magnetic process... In total i paid $168, and tipped $20. The amount of time spent there and the cost of it all, and being moved around from one person to another, ultimately costed the 2 stars. But again, this is just my experience i am sharing, and not to deter your decision to visit, because the quality of work is there.

I came to this nail salon three times and had the same nail tech who I liked. She seemed very…read moresweet. I walked in on Friday and the manager asked me what I needed done and I said gel manicure and the girl that I like was working on someone else and I said are you done after this? Oh no no I have more clients. OK is someone else available? No, we're full, then why did you ask me what I needed? So to give them benefit of the doubt and called them this morning at 9:30 to make an appointment with the girl that had done my nails previously and specifically asked for her at 11:45. When I came in. She was just starting on someone's toes and I looked at her and I said hi, I have an appointment with you at 11:45, to which she looked bewildered. And the manager said oh well, you can go with the other girl. I told them this was not the point. If I made an appt with one person at a certain time why is it not honored. I will not be returning. Customer service is not longer a thing I guess

I feel so lucky to live around the corner from Hi Tech Nails--it's easily one of the best nail…read moresalons I've been to. The space is very clean, bright, and inviting, and everyone who works there is friendly and welcoming. Tu is my go-to technician. She always takes the extra time to remove my stubborn calluses and cuts my nails exactly how I like them--nice and short, without me having to ask repeatedly. She takes real pride in her work, and my pedicure always looks perfect. She's also incredibly kind, which makes the whole experience even better. Another big plus: the prices are very reasonable, which makes it easy to leave a generous tip. Highly recommend!
