This place was just close to the Double Tree hotel in Monrovia where I was staying for an event. They have mostly basic and popular nail colors in various shades of red and pink. I just brought my own nail polish from home, since I wanted a specific color to go with an outfit for an event later that day. The pedicure took about 30 minutes so plan accordingly. Cathy was deft and skilled, at no point was I ever wincing from a careless jab and only felt ticklish a couple times. Even when I accidentally messed up the polish on my left big toe, Cathy gracefully fixed it right away without any well deserved annoyance towards me. I initially just wanted a pedi only, but when I saw what a great job they did stayed and got a mani too. They were booked up with appointments but squeezed me after another appointment, just waiting 30 minutes more. Busy for a long weekend, it seemed like they had an endless stream of customers! Note: Book an appointment on a regular weekday in the future. FYI: Cash only! Please read that if not anything else,or else you end up leaving your daughter as collateral as one customer did in order to run to the bank. Although they don't have foot spas or massage chairs, I don't care about the frivolous luxuries when I get quality work on my nails. Be advised that this salon does not deal with ingrown toenails.

I actually drove from South Bay to San Gabriel (LOL) because I was really enamored and respected her artistry. I loved the little salon and how professional Lannie is. She's been in the industry for well over two decades and it clearly shows. I appreciated her patience with me as I'm new to getting nails done. The single one star review is actually from a temp employee that is no longer with Lannie! Her prices are on par with most salons. If I remember correctly, it's $40 for single color gel, and then $2-3 per nail for art, $2 per nail for gold flaking. Obviously it really depends on the designs you want but expect about $75 on average, and don't forget to tip either. If you're not sure, she responds pretty quickly to estimated costs. The gel manicure lasted me about 2 weeks, and I ended up taking mine off at home but didn't do it correctly so my nails are pretty bad and will probably take a few more weeks or months to get back to what they were like before. I'd just get it taken off for $10 or so at a reputable salon next time I get gel. I'd love to come as a regular but the salon itself is too far away for me to be comfortable to make that time commitment (2 hour roundtrip + 2 hour appointment) every two weeks. So for now, I think I'll probably try to stop by when I have a day off or for special occasions. Lannie's really busy, expect to need to book an appointment 2-3 weeks out.

I almost don't want to share bc she's already as booked as it is, but's she's so awesome it'd be a shame if not more people know about her & her work. If you're looking for a Saturday, call 3-4 weeks in advance. There may be cancellations but I wouldn't count on it. Weekdays are a little better, esp. during fall/winter, however, still call as early as you can just to be sure. Looking forward to many more fun nails appointments.
