Today, I had the privilege of having my hair styled by Rhena. I made my appointment about 5 days prior for KNOTLESS BRAIDS, specifically KNOTLESS INDIVIDUALS because I was going for a bit of a fuller look. I expressed all my concerns to her, and she handled them with the utmost professionalism and attention. I was impressed by the professionalism and cleanliness of the salon. There was no gossiping -- only busy stylists having clients! Huge plus! What also impressed me was the LOVE Rhena put into my hair. She really took her time, and did not make me feel like I was just another customer. My braids were even, uniform, and seamless! Rhena has great energy, is patient, and professional! She even went as far to make sure appropriate music was played. I'm new to the Los Angeles area and was in need of a trim. Of course, I was hesitant to trust someone with my hair besides trusted stylist in the San Francisco Bay Area, but I took a chance on this salon and I'm so glad I did. My hair was trimmed by Marchall, who was did a great, thorough job and made sure I walked out with an even cut. I have extremely thick, curly hair that most stylists dread, but Marchall did not once complain. She even took the time to straighten my hair with a flat iron to make sure the ends were all perfectly even and free of split ends. The staff was really nice but the haircut was pretty bad, I had to pay someone else to fix it. My normal hair lady was sick and I needed a haircut right before I went on vacation, so I decided to just get a quick one here. It was easy to make an appointment, the parking was a bit hard to find on a Saturday. The lady that did my cut was very nice but she was obviously new and extremely green. It took her a whole hour just to cut my hair and the whole cut was just ugly and terrible. There was significant and noticeable mistakes with the cut and my bangs were short and long in the wrong places. After I got back from vacation, I had to get my regular hair lady to fix it. Everything was going great until we received the bill. Yes, I got what I wanted in terms of my hair but then the bill was so much more than what we expected. We only wanted a haircut but we got charged $130, not what we expected. We weren't aware that she was doing much more than we asked for. We would appreciated it more if she had let us know how much each treatment costs and not just treat us and expected us to be fine with how much it would be in the end. She also said it wouldn't cost much, which made us think it was all part of the haircut but turns out that it wasn't. Won't come back again. read more

I found Dre on Instagram and hit him up with some questions and he replied promptly and was very helpful. I booked an appointment for today (Friday) and Dre took care of me. He did an excellent job on my high top fade. The shop itself is a bit hard to find so come a bit early if you're unfamiliar with the area. The shop itself is a good size and when I came, there were 4 barbers. The waiting room/lobby area is just outside of where the barber chairs are, but still inside and is equipped with a vending machine and TV. Overall, great service and great vibes. Absolutely amazing! This hair salon has been around for over 20 years. They've moved a couple times and I'm glad to see they're still local. The salon was very clean and professional. The staff was quick and attentive. I used to go to the foothill location, but I like this layout better. Joann did an amazing wash and blow out for me, and Keyshia, the owner did my press and curl and trim. Danielle did my mother's braids and she loved it. My sons got haircuts next door at their barber shop. Dre the stylist hooked it up! They give back to the community and they really know what they're doing over there. Natasha is such a life saver. I moved to Pasadena from New York City and I was desperate to find a good hair dresser that knows how to deal with my type of hair. I do not like always flat ironing my hair. Coming from New York, I always did Dominican style of roller setting my hair. Natasha was the only one in the area that knew how to do this method and do it well! Ive been to other hair dressers that claim they know how to do it but the set would come out terribly or I would be in the shop all day because they were super slow at doing it. My usual stylist is Porsche; i'm pretty sure she offers all services, but I have only gone to her for extensions or braids. Porsche's sew-in weaves are incredible! They lay so flat and look so natural with or without netting being installed between the weft and hair. I have gotten a goddess weave and the traditional partial leave-out weaves with Porsche. Plus, i'm tender-headed and she never braids too tight. I have also gone to Destiny for weaves and box braids; she does an amazing job as well. If you are in a hurry and still want a full head of box braids, Destiny is your girl! I am always pleasantly surprised at how quickly she can complete my thick head of hair! The business look great very clean and I like the set up. I was very disappointed in the quality of service that they provided. I didn't even have the opportunity to get my hair cut because all they do is talk and be on their phones. I asked them how long the wait was going to be and there were 2 people in front of me. They said about 30 minutes but they continued to talk, be on their phones and not cut hair. Before they were finished with the 2 people another guy walked in and when it was my turn one of the barbers said that he was his appointment but failed to mentioned that he had any appointments when I asked for the wait time. This wasn't my first time getting my braids done , I've had them done before , several times actually . But out of all my experiences getting my hair done at Simply Divine with Rhena Carrington was by far one of my best experiences . I'm used to braiders being rough with my hair and Rhena was not and for that I'm thankful because there's nothing worse than sitting in a chair for several hours and having your head feel like your hair is being ripped out your scalp . Rhena is also super friendly and so sweet , so don't worry about things feeling awkward because she makes you feel comfortable and relaxed . But most importantly , Rhena did a beautiful job with my hair . She gave me exactly what I asked for , Small and Long Knotless Braids . She had my hair looking tight and flawless as you can see in these photos I posted of her work . In all honesty , I have zero complaints with my experience at Simply Divine and with Rhena .
