I have quit coming here after years of patronage. (That parts on me) I get cut EVERY time no matter who does my manicure. I had David's assistant do my nails 1st and last time ever with him. He was rude, did a bad job and cut me SEVEN times. I have had no problems with pedicures. Except for the fact they are so fast you don't even get much of a massage. I have quit going to David's because their customer service is atrocious. After years of patronage, (again my bad) I have never been asked my name. As much money as I have put into his shop they should say Hi Kelly. How are you? They are a meat market. They rush you in and out and try to cater to "money" I get my nails done every three weeks rain or shine. The upside to this shop is you rarely wait more then one minute. There are literally dozens of nail shops in Modesto happy for your business ladies and gentlemen. Go elsewhere. read more

Been coming here for some time and recently took my business elsewhere. Recently it seems since the upgrades on the salon they've not been investing in quality supplies. My nails began lifting each time after a week, this had never happened. The quality of service just seems downgraded. When I have returned to have my nails fixed there vibe was never welcoming as it always felt in the offhanded comments that it was my fault. Ummmm.... no I didn't paint crooked lines on my nails and my typing didn't cause the lifting. As far as how pricing works, your guess is as good as mine being it was never consistent. EVER! I do not go overboard on my services with extras. I am pretty basic with my nails and pedicures, but would leave paying anywhere between $40-50 for both services. Never been treated so poorly by David himself. He was rude and made me feel as though it was my fault my gel nail polish was chipping because my nails were to long. Let's keep in mind I had been in a couple of days before and gotten my white tips done. The nail tech never mentioned they were to long and in fact she was the one who determined the size was nice. As a business owner I would have expected David to be friendly and not be aggressive in tone and blame their customer. What was even worse is he did this in front of a room full of customers. I asked for additional time on my foot massage and she responded, "sorry I only have 20 mins to do your pedicure, can't spend more time". I have gone to this place 3x and every time I've been there of course there is a long line of people waiting. Now this is my review and experience David is a rude owner and very dismissive when we're the ones keeping him in Buisness not friendly at all I called and asked how how much it would be for a waxing. I was told that it was $25 for legs and anything else would be more. I went in today to get my legs waxed. He totally ignored me and then when I did approach him friendly he said just because you called doesn't mean that it's going to be $25. What kind of remark is that? Not only that he doesn't take card payments he only takes cash which he's very smart on doing that even though he does have a ATM machine in the back of his shop for those who forget to bring cash which the ATM charges a $3.50 fee I also don't like how they have three people that will work on you which means then you kind of feel like you have to tip all three people when you request I have only one person work on you they don't listen for a pedicure. They have one person wash and cut and the second person will paint and then the third person and will put you in front of a fan. That way he makes it to where all of his employees are benefiting and nobody misses out on Tips... I don't know who nominated him best in Modesto for nail salon because that is what he's not I wonder if the IRS knows about how he gets over when it's time to file taxes because I can 100% sure that he does not file his taxes appropriately, and he's not honest with the IRS, especially if he's only taking cash payments I will never go back to his salons. I will never give him any more of my money and I don't need to be treated with that disrespectful tacky dismissive no Customer Service that he gives out. read more

I have been back now 3 times, just because of the COVID19. Tried maintaining my own feet with masks just didn't cut. Ended up one time with my friend and she was like "Wow" no love to the feet. All 3 times got the same older lady with glasses. She rubbed the hell out of my calves one time leaving them raw. Literally scrubbed my feet like a teenage doing dishes when they dont want too. My dry skin and callous usually go away. My feet still feel nasty and icky. You would think that they would be getting better. But they are not. No joke my feet get more love at Mystic Body and Soul during my full body massage then they did at Nails by Davids. So, before doing this Yelp. I took my husband's advice and tried talking to David to let him know how ripped off I felt but he wouldn't hear it. He told me "O that Mindy, she is just old cranky don't go to her next time".. not wanting to hear I paid 70 dollars for his top pedicure and my feet feel like trash. My 5 year old niece plays better nail tech then I got. I would have rather give her the 70 bucks. At least I would have felt good about the money. I honestly thought David cared about his reviews that is why I called him. I thought he would have been come back in and I will have you taken care of. I went to this Nail spa for the first time because I was referred by a teller that worked at my bank.I really liked her nails and gave her a compliment,so she recommended this place called Nails by David this Nail spa. I wanted to finally try this place out, so finally 6 months later I decided decided to give them a try a day before my Birthday to treat myself soon as I walked in the place was packed which was a good sign, however I don't go off crowds alone. Customer service is #1 when spending my $$$$ coins!!! I asked how much was the callous remover and the owner insulted me and said they don't make feet smooth which was an insult and then he asked to see my heels which has nothing to do with the price of the service that I requested...This Owner David is a racist, arrogant,rude, unprofessional morone!!!! Horrified, Disgusted, Unsanitary, Unprofessional and Rude sums it up. Greeted (if you consider this a greeting) by man who was eating, blowing his nose, and not wiping not washing his hands. Told to "just sit down" then when ready for appointment was yelled at to go to chair that was numbered (felt like in a sweatshop and not a spa). When arrived at pedicure chair, there were no basin liners, equipment was old and not functioning, and tools dirty. Needless to say I did not sit down and walked out never to return. I can't comment on the manicurists as didn't trust the environment; they all appeared very unhappy though. I'm actually surprised this place isn't shut down and will be reporting to the State. It was super packed for one. Everything is entirely too close together. I paid $55 for a Mani/pedi with gel on my natural nails, plus I tipped VERY well, which I didn't feel comfortable doing because the lady who did my toes made me bleed. Since I hadn't treated myself in over a year I tipped anyway. I got everything done this past Saturday and my thumbs have already chipped and then today my middle finger's paint is peeling and it's only Thursday. I feel like they are too in a hurry. I used to love coming here until today... I came in for an acrylic removal that I had had done there, and it was the worst thing ever. I've had acrylics before and they've removed them with acetone and very gentle. Today, the women had the nail clippers and used another fake nail and was scraping the acrylic off. It hurt so bad and until this moment my fingers still hurt. Not coming back. Gel manicure was nice, but my finger nails are hurting really bad. I could've just taken them off myself. read more

Only been here once, never going back. I had a pedicure done by David himself. He was wearing latex gloves after I told him I had a latex allergy. He reassured me they were not latex. I dont know if he was having a bad day, or he is usually this grouchy but he has a MAD look on his face. Everytime he needed me to bring up my foot, he would smack my foot to bring it up or down. I thought that was pretty rude and unprofessional. Then when the leg massage part came he had gloves on and he did not put any lotion to my legs or the gloves so the friction was painful! First of all, I hardly ever get my nails done maybe about 2-3 times a year & usually they are done for an occasion. I've noticed most of my friends go here or say that they have so I decided to take a chance with my best friend to go get our nails done and be pampered. We walked in and they seated us right away but before I got seated I felt like she was impatiently rushing me to choose my color. Anyways, I sit down and let her put powder acrylic on my nails. (My nail lady recommended them to me so that they last longer.) I saw her paint them and there were parts of my nails that had a strange pinkish color into the mixture that I chose but I had chosen a magenta/purple. I didn't mind it I thought she would have fixed it in the end when she was done painting my set. The powder eventually dried matte and there were excess all around my nail beds thinking she was going to clean it all up with alcohol to make her work look cleaner but she didn't. She left my nails sloppy and left the pinkish residue from the powder on my nailbed. They look horrible! Unfortunately, ALL nail salons make me feel unwelcome when they talk in their language making it feel like they talk about you and that's exactly what it felt like especially with their walkie talkie earpieces they all had on and let me tell you, I've never seen so many people working at a nail salon at one time there had to be like 15 of them. They have some kind of scoreboard in the front with their names saying who's available and as soon as my nail lady was finished with me she handed me a receipt and put her name back on the board. No patience! I honestly feel like they don't take their time & only rush to get a new customer to reach commission goals to make money for the day. CASH ONLY, btw. They have an ATM machine in the back. They claim they don't charge you but I've heard a customer say otherwise.. I got off work earlier and decided to treat myself to a pedicure and manicure to relax. From the second I got in, David was rude as always. The woman who sat me at the pedicure acted like she was in a rush and got mad because I asked for a towel so i didn't have to put my feet on the pedicure thing. She hadn't even started my pedicure and had an attitude when I said I didn't know what my color was yet. Instead of painting my feet while I was already in the chair, they made me put shoes on before painting my toes so they could do it at the same as my manicure. Felt rushed. The two people that I had were not friendly and David is the most unfriendly person ever. I've been going to David's for many years now (5 years) decent prices for medi and pedis ($25 total: $15 for pedi and $10 for pedi). Personally I like the guys better than the girls: they take their time, are less distracted than the girls and are more creative when designing you a flower ($5 more). The guy that was doing my pedicure got his back slapped by a female coworker while he was painting my nails: luckily it didn't mess him up but that could have ended messy. There's no rush when they are finished with you. They just give you the receipt to take to the register up front when you're ready. Cash only! read more
