I haven't had many manicures, because I'm not comfortable with how a lot of salons are ran. I was at ease with Nailsaloon the minute I walked in. It's clean, well lit, and not jam-packed...avoiding that mill feel that some other area salons have. I was a minute late and felt bad, but the front desk reception was efficient, and my nail tech, Bella, was industrious but gentle. I got the full manicure with a scrub and massage, and it was a great way to end the week. It didn't feel rushed, but I did appreciate that there were no awkward lulls. It's been a week and my nails still havent chipped...and I cook a lot. I also like that they avoid harmful chemicals in the products used. One of the nicest nail salons i've ever been to. You arrive to a large, bright, airy room that feels feminine, tasteful, and luxurious without being pretentious. Notably, it's VERY clean and doesn't have any of those typical chemical fumes that plague your average nail salon. They only use polishes that don't have chemicals that create scents, though this also means they don't do gel/acrylic. Didn't recognize the brands (they're not using OPI and Essie like other salons) but their color selection was broad & fabulous and my polish stayed on all throughout my weeklong vacation gallivanting through Mexican beaches without chipping! My pedicure was very thorough and included callous removal, a salt scrub, and a massage. The paint job was meticulous and my toes looked perfect afterwards. Of course, the prices will reflect the superior atmosphere and service you receive ($48 pedicure, $32 manicure), but if you are looking to get a mani/pedi that resembles more of a soothing spa experience than a solely "utilitarian" function, this is your spot! I can see it being the perfect place to host bachelorette parties, bridal showers, birthday parties, (read: any special occasion for women). Or, if you like to work hard/relax hard, this is your place! On top of it all, Nail Saloon is active in service by hosting a program where women can mentor girls in the community! I'm lucky in that this place is near my house. It is fairly pricy - $48 before tip for a pedicure but it's the only place I'll go now. I've been at least a dozen times and have never had a bad experience. Booking is easy. With an appointment I've never had to wait more than a couple minutes. It's clean. I NEVER worry that I'm going to end up with some weird fungus. The polishes are not the toxic kind and they have tons of colors. Sometimes when they are super busy they forget to ask if you want something to drink until you are almost done but no big deal. I also love that they provide water in actual glass instead of the single use plastic water bottles. Yay no unnecessary waste! I would love it if they offered some sort of package deal like you can get at massages places. I would buy one to lock in more pedis at a package price. read more

This is by FAR and away the best nail salon in DC. I truly hate going to Mimosa and those other nail mills were you're shuffled around in an overcrowded space where you need a mask because of the horrible chemical smell. Not Nail Saloon - they have a special air filtration system so it barely smells like a nail salon at all. All the tools are sterilized, which is a lovely change of pace. I had been here many times and have never once had a bad or even mediocre experience, from the front desk staff to the technicians. They always greet you and make a point to know your name. With how busy this place gets on the weekends, it's impressive how smoothly it runs from appointment to appointment. This place is expensive, but it's not overpriced. I think there is some sticker shock when you first walk in - $80 for a mani/pedi???? But honestly it's worth treating yourself if you can because you're paying for a truly great experience. read more

This salon is incredibly unorganized and very frustrating. I called earlier in the day to ask if I should come early to have the gel removed on my toes and fingers and was instead told to come 10 minutes late to my appointment because they were busy that day. I still arrived a bit early to my new later appt. time and was told to choose my color and wait. I wasn't taken back to start my gel removal until 20 minutes after my original appt. time, and had 2 different nail techs do my removal (including the front desk person). My appointment for gel mani/gel pedi too over 2.5 hours, even after skipping additional parts of the service like the sugar scrub because I wanted it to end. While checking out I found out they charge for separate gel removals (so $20 for removal from my toes and fingers), which I have never in my life experienced. My nail tech Nora did an amazing job and was very professional. However, I would never recommend this experience because there was nothing relaxing about this (despite the fact that all their advertising is now about selfcare...). read more

First pedicure in DC. What was I expecting after reading the reviews? Well, I was expecting a pampered experience that would result in a five star review. Hmmm...not quite. This place is located on the second floor of the building above chipotle and if you aren't really looking for it you may miss it. When I arrived I was greeted promptly by the super friendly and awesome front desk gal. Loved her. She told me all about the "five free" polishes and asked me if I wanted a beverage. So happy to hear that they offer mimosas on the weekends! She immediately popped a new bottle of sparkling wine and my morning was off to a good start. While I looked through colors she got everything ready. I had made a reservation (highly recommended on the weekends-saw several walk-ins turned away) for a pedicure and they tried to seat me for a mani. No worries, this was quickly remedied! The pedicure chair is extremely uncomfortable and my service provider, Kim asked me if I wanted to move the chair closer. I said sure and she looked to me to scoot the chair closer to the bowl. Weird. (-1star) Overall the service was good. I would say that the sugar scrub was my favorite. Apparently just sugar and sunflower oil. The final star deduction is because of what happened while my toes were drying...Kim began cleaning up the station, no problem. But then she asked me to move to another chair, wet toes and all. This place is a hidden gem tucked away above chipotle (it was fate- I also love chipotle!). Upon arrival I was offered champagne-- wonderful! I had a pedicure which was delightful! Very friendly staff. The only downside was that the water in the foot bath was pretty low and wasn't really hot at all. They get top marks for cleanliness, which is really important for nail salon (e.g. they used plastic liners in the foot tubs). I'm a bit behind in my reviews but I had to do a review on this place. A girlfriend suggested we catch up over a mani/pedi and since it was 12/30 I was certainly in need of the service before my New Year's festivities. Upon arrival I noticed the studio was bright and airy after my small walk up a flight or so of stairs. The lady offered to take my coat and asked me to pick a polish. The polishes were all Zoya which I love because of the quality. Of course when Zoya polishes abound there's no crazy nail chemical fumes that give you a headache. The service- I have to say the service was high class and quality all the way. The pedicure chairs were super comfortable like a plush recliner and a low bowl at the feet meant I didn't have to do much but sit back and relax. There was also enough space between the chairs that I didn't feel like I was part of conveyor belt like other salons. After sitting down the lady offered me water, coffee, tea, wine or mimosa (winning!). I must note that I saw another nail technician go downstairs to being a client lunch (really winning). My technician offered me the same but we planned to grab lunch after. Okay- back to the nails, the pedicure was flawless and I had baby smooth feet for at least two weeks after. The manicure was also quality. The table where you get the nail service is where you'll dry as well. What I appreciated here is the chairs. I wasn't breaking my back or turning into a contortionist to dry my nails. Of course the lady refreshed my beverage during this part of the service. I thought wow this place is great. Price- Now the service was great and for a moment I was in lala land being pampered until I got to the register. That's when reality hit- I'm still in DC and in this city you are going to pay a premium for quality. The price for a regular manicure and pedicure is $80 and that's before the tip. Did I know I was in for a $95 (w/tip) treatment when I came in the door? I didn't. The ending- After settling up with the bill, the lady brought my coat and prepared me to leave. What do I mean by that? It was freezing so of course I had boots on and to my amazement, the lady coated my toes with oil and wrapped them before I put my boots on to prevent smudging. Now that is truly a first but a great service addition. I had a great experience here. The price tag for a regular manicure and pedicure is steep IMHO but the service was second to none. read more

I can tell they really care about their customers here. I've read a few comments mentioning the lack of gel and acrylic manicures, but that's obviously due to the fact that these folks care about the health of your nails. I stopped getting acrylics about 2 years ago when I realized they only made my real nails brittle. I stopped getting gel a while back because it can also make your nails brittle when it's being scrapped off. I live the fact that they care so much about what truly matters here. Yes, I'm sure you want a manicure that last 2+ weeks, but I'd prefer healthy nails in the end. I actually didn't get a manicure this time, but I thoroughly enjoyed my pedicure and chai tea! *3.5 stars* This review of nailsaloon is kind of tricky to write because my experience was good, but considering the price I feel like it was lacking in a couple of ways. As other reviewers have noted, the atmosphere is really cute and relaxing! The salon also doesn't have a gross, headache-inducing chemical smell so I loved that. When I arrived and sat down for my pedicure, the water was SUPER hot. I politely let my nail tech know that it was burning me (seriously my feet turned bright red) and she quickly adjusted, however at that point she just made the water freezing cold. I didn't want to be difficult and ask her to adjust it again, but I ended up asking because a pedicure with cold water just doesn't seem relaxing. We ended up somewhere in the region of tepid....lol. The pedicure itself was pretty standard - I was surprised by how quickly it went by! Again, the service itself was good, and I loved the natural products they used (essential oils and some sort of homemade scrub) but for the price you're paying it did seem a little rushed. My appointment was towards the end of the evening so this may have been why. I also got the deluxe manicure and was really pleased with this service. The cuticle cutting portion was rough, but in the nail tech's defense my cuticles were atrocious and she did a really thorough job of removing them. She was super meticulous when shaping and painting the nails, which I also appreciated. I get the feeling the mani is going to last awhile, as she was so thorough with the painting and the top coat. Overall, I would return to nailsaloon again. The service was nice, the fact that they have complimentary drinks is great, and most importantly, it feels more upscale than a strip mall nail salon with those leather massage chairs. I do, however, feel like for the price the experience could have been a little bit higher quality (to be clear, $80 for a standard mani pedi is a lot, but I am willing to invest for a more relaxing spa-like experience - I'm not trying to harp on the price but rather review my experience compared to the price). My feet were in need of some love and Nailsaloon was the closest place to me offering all non-toxic polish in a clean atmosphere. That alone was worth the extra money spent. Bonus, my toes look amazing! Took off one star for the pedicure chair. This was my first "fancy nail place" so I am not sure what I was expecting, but I usually love those ridiculous massage chairs during my pedicure so that was a slight disappointment. Also, as a tall woman, it was hard to recline and relax in such a short chair. All in all though, I'll be back! read more

First time at Nailsaloon and will definitely be back. Very friendly front desk staff and technicians. I had a Speedy Mani ($22) with Vivian. She is the best! Very friendly, great attention to detail, perfectly done mani. She went back in with a brush dipped in polish remover to clean things up but honestly I didn't even see any polish that had gotten on my fingers or cuticles. One thing I appreciated was the quality of the polish -- sometimes I go other places and it's clumpy or has bubbles in it (I guess just old), then takes forever to dry (and immediately smudges). Here, each coat was the perfect thickness/consistency, if that makes sense. Only on Day 1 so we'll see how they look by Day 5 or so, but I'm very optimistic just given the great job Vivian did. I came here on a random Sunday looking to treat myself to an​ "upscale" mani/pedi for my birthday. My suggestion would be to call ahead if you don't have an appointment and make one if you have the time to. They seem to have a large amount of regulars who keep appointments, and this isn't one of those salons where they will make you sit for an hour waiting for someone to do your nails. They will more than likely say, we can't fit you in today. So I will start by saying: I love my nails! I love the color and Nelly *sp* is who did my nails, she did an awesome job. Was very nice and accommodating​. She made sure I was comfortable at all times and she perfected​ my manicure and pedicure. I also was given a nice mint tea to enjoy while my nails were being done it was quite nice. The overall ambiance​ was nice, very cool chairs you sit in while getting a pedicure, it was very comfy. I don't like the massage chairs in normal salons so I appreciated the fact that it wasn't. I will say the pedi bowl that's​ used was a bit uncomfortable only because there is a little tray that goes on top of it for your legs to rest on and it is kind of hard to switch legs in and out of the water. The area where they do you mani's was very comfortable, super comfortable chair and all around very nice. I would have given this place 4-5 stars had it not been for the very obvious argument and disagreement the woman at the front desk was having with one of the nail techs. I think there was some argument about giving costumers to someone, not really sure but it was super unprofessional to be having that heated conversation while people are trying to relax and enjoy their quite expensive nail appointments. I also didn't really appreciate how the woman at the front spoke to the nail techs. She didn't seem to care or have very much respect for them, ordering them around to take clients, not saying please or thank you. One lady was late, okay, but then this woman chastised​ her in front of the customers ​and also didn't even ask why she was late. As someone who has family members in the "working class" I find that behavior unacceptable. All in all, ​I think I'll go back when I'm feeling fancy and I want to just relax and treat myself. Uka, Uka, Uka... sing it. I had an appt on 12/1 at 7:15 PM and I made my appt on line around 6 PM. WON!!!! Anywho, I found a spot (free) on P street- double win. I walked into the establishment and was greeted by a very nice and friendly receptionist - good luck with your college studies Ms. Junior. She informed Uka that I was there and I proceeded to the rest room to change from my skirt to pants. Thank GAWD that I had some pants in my car b/c I don't want to subject folks to doing a mani on anyone with a skirt... that's just not cool to me. Uka took her time, while I sipped my wine. She made sure to ask me if things were okay throughout my experience. I was the first to last customer and NO ONE was rushing. Everyone is amazing and so sweet that works at Nailsaloon. You are one hundred percent paying for the experience. To the receptionist to the manicurist, each employee treats everyone with such respect and hospitality. Even though I want to go to a business that treats their employees amazing and is on the mission to make nail salons healthier and friendlier to all, my nails have already chipped and I just got my manicure yesterday. I'd rate Nailsaloon 5 stars for quality of experience, but quality of my service and the amount of money I spent on my nails is disappointing. Six out of my ten fingernails all have chips. I really enjoyed my experience at Nail Saloon. My pedi was done well and it was exactly the relaxing kind of experience I was looking for. The salon is very aesthetically pleasing and I love how transparent everything is. You can see all their products and there's nothing hiding in shady back rooms like some nail salons I've been to. Also, it's very clean and very covid friendly. All the tools are single use, which I loved. If we're ever able to be normal again, I hope i'll be able to visit again when drinks are able to be served. Drinks would make this fab experience even more fab. My only slight criticism was that the colors are all sitting on the receptionist desk in baskets. It made it difficult to pick a color because I couldn't really get a good look at the colors and I didn't want to touch anything. Otherwise, highly suggest this place ! read more

It's been a few years since my last review of nailsaloon, and it's still 5 stars in my book. This is the only place I get my nails done in DC. Clean facilities, friendly and talented technicians, great color selection, and a great ambience to top it all off. It is true that they go the natural route and don't offer gel, but I can't do gel anyway (it ruins my nails) so that doesn't bother me. I do tend to put my own topcoat on at home to make the polish last a bit longer, though. I'll always be loyal to nailsaloon! read more

Cool upscale nail salon perfect for bonding with girlfriends. They use an all natural selection selection of zoya polishes and their house brand so no gels or acrylics, but the salon is really clean and uses new buffers with every client and sanitized tools. The pedicure bowls have disposable liners as well. They will even steam clean your jewelry while you are having your service done. The chairs do not massage, but are very comfortable. It's a little hard to find, but look for the door to the left of the chipotle and head upstairs. Try going during the day or on Sunday as street parking can be hard to find in the area. I only gave four stars due to the limited services offered, and slightly high prices, but I still recommend! read more

I was very excited to give this place a try because of all of the rave reviews it has received. The atmosphere is nice and inviting. It's very bright and girly, which puts you in the mood to be pampered. They also offer beverages- coffee, tea, water, and wine. I have no shame in saying I'm here for the wine. They use their own nail polish brand, and have a decent selection of colors. My technician was very meticulous, which I appreciate. They also have a quick option if you are on the go. I, however, had a stressful day and appreciated the wine and care the technician took with my massage. My nails are not "perfect", but I am happy with my nails overall. Told my fiancé not to let me have my nails looking crazy when he proposed and he treated me to a mani pedi here. Best. Experience. In. The DMV. There are some other non-9 salons in the area that are clean and swanky, but none offer a mani that lasts as long as this one. I work in healthcare so I'm constantly washing my hands and this mani held up as well as gel. If I could always get my nails done here I would have no reason to expose myself to chemicals or UV ever again. Color selection was great. And my cappuccino was amazing. Gorgeous salon, absolutely adore the atmosphere! However they don't do Gel or Shellac nails. I knew this going in, but really saw how quickly my polish was going to wear off when they put two coats on. Anyone who has ever had their nails professionally done knows that the slightest brush of your hand will mar a 'regular' polish, which is why I generally reserve those for my feet.Final Service: Impeccable. My manicurist/pedicurist clearly knew what she was doing. Was very thorough and checked in with me often to make sure I was enjoying my time. She spent around 45 minutes doing my pedicure and 30 minutes doing the manicure. The sugar scrub on both my hands and feet was interesting. I wasn't expecting much because it was just melting normal store sugar in an oil/water combination. They didn't seem to add any great essential oils, no aromatic additions like lavender, and no other tangible essences. I felt like I'd spilled my sugar on my hands in the kitchen and my mom had me wash it off - it was very basic. But when I left my hands and feet felt soft and wonderfully pleasant, so if you're looking for the very basics to an end then there you have it. Final thoughts: I'd come back for a pedicure but stay away from the manicure and honestly I'd say you're almost paying $90 for the quality of service in a immaculate yet tasteful environment (includes free alcoholic drinks!) rather than the ingenuity of the product. read more

Pretty disappointing. Nailsaloon charged me the full $10 for "gel removal", to scrape off 4 fingers worth of gel. This is a ridiculous charge for 10 fingers, let alone 4. I also asked to have two different nail polish colors, picture every other blue, light blue, blue, they processed to charge me $10 for "nail art". Manicure: $18 Gel removal: $10 Nail art: $10 =$42 - w. taxes This is so outrageously overpriced and my manicure was chipping the very next day.
