I have been training with Najee 2-3 times a week for almost a year now. Where do I begin.....Najee is amazing at what he does! We were so lucky to have had found him at the peek of the pandemic. We worked out a sweet schedule 12:30 M W and F. We worked out outdoor as he came to our home. Occasionally we did his gym, but the row machine was killer so now my fav haha. Included in the workout was myself (late 30's), my husband (late 40's) and my sister in law (late 50's). We all did same warm up, but our workout were adjusted for each as needed. Cardio isn't my favorite but he finds a good way to bring the heart rate up and not over exert you. Boxing was one of my favs, you can request it wink wink. Overall Najee was a pleasure to have, he was puntual, respectful and totally serious about keeping us on track for the hour so that no time was wasted. If you're looking for a personal trainer in oakland, definitely reach out. His pricing is very fair too! What I also like about Najee is that he doesn't push a meal plan on you. For Father's Day in 2020, as the birth of my first child approached and I lamented how I wasn't in shape despite working out 3-4 times per week, my wife bought me a pack of training sessions with Najee. I was a little skeptical, having never worked with a trainer before and believing that I could manage without one, but I went into it with an open mind. The sessions with Najee turned out to be one of the best gifts my wife has ever gotten me. In only 30 minutes sessions, 1 - 2 times per week, Najee got me into by far the best shape of my life. We focused on full body workouts with a particular emphasis on core. I found myself faster in my sprints, faster on my bike bike rides, able to climb a pole with strictly my arms, and less fatigued while playing racquetball. I've been training with Najee for a little over two years and working with him has been absolutely transformative to my life. My fitness goal at the beginning was just to become toned. Little did I know that I needed to increase my protein and start lifting heavy in order to see the changes in my body that I wanted. When I first started working with Najee, I could barely hip thrust 90 pounds and was doing an insane amount of cardio thinking that that would help. Through Najee's guidance of progressive overloading, I became a lot more comfortable with weight training and started training 3X a week. Now I can hip thrust over 300 pounds! I'm naturally pretty lean, so my goal shifted to gaining muscle mass. Update: 2/3/23 - Unfortunately, Najee refuses to return $1265 that I pre-paid him for 23 training sessions - services he did not deliver. I continue to be disheartened by this lack of professional integrity that Najee demonstrates. It's a shame that I need to update my original post, but here it goes as I would hate for this to happen to anyone else. I see that Najee has responded to my original review with some choice words as I understand it sucks to have negative reviews. However, other reviewers have shared the same experience of money being kept by Najee for undelivered sessions and his unresponsiveness. It's important to share my experience. I did gain positive physical results due to Najee's skills when I diligently attended training sessions, and I made clear cancels or reschedules within the scope of my contractual written and verbal agreements with Najee. No breach of contract. I stopped consistently working with Najee because he became unresponsive to my texts (as other reviewers mention), he would frequently travel and cancel sessions, and his comments during and between sessions became progressively demoralizing. Part of the problem was also that I experienced several boundary violations during and between sessions including inappropriate, late night, and unprofessional (quite uncomfortable) texts/social media messages from Najee. This was a slow and awkward turn of events after what had been a friendly, warm, and effective training relationship. I will repeat some of what I wrote before: I paid Najee for my last 36 session contract. I went against my gut despite experiencing deteriorating professionalism on Najee's part. Each previous contract for training with Najee was 100% complete with a mutually agreed upon (and documented) number of sessions finished before I paid for a new contract with him - nothing was left over for me to pay for. After mutually agreeing to end the last contract early and after Najee agreed to refund me for remaining sessions, Najee decided he was entitled to keep the money I paid and continues to refuse to return over $1200 that I paid him for future services that he did not deliver. Unfortunately, I am working with a lawyer to retrieve my funds. Do not pre-pay Najee for sessions, and I caution working with him at all due to his touch and go professionalism. For anyone, note that apparently once Najee is certain he will no longer receive money from you his friendliness and care seem to vanish, as demonstrated below in his response to my review. Training and working on your body is vulnerable and requires someone you can trust all around and who can maintain consistency, integrity, and kindness over time... and who abides by mutual agreements made and returns payments for undelivered services. read more

Najee has been a huge help and I highly recommend working with him! He's a fantastic personal trainer with a deep knowledge of how the body works, moves, breaks, and repairs. He caters every training session to my specific long-term goals and short-term limitations, in my case dealing with current sports injuries and avoiding new ones. I consider his sessions not just personal training, but preventative physical therapy. He conveniently offers training right in my apartment building's gym, and also does outdoor workouts at nearby parks, fields, or tracks. He's both accommodating to my schedule and reliable in his. His help isn't limited to the hour spent in the gym: he offers nutritional advice, and helps plan out my workout regimen outside our sessions. He's creative with his workouts, fitting a lot into an hour, and attentively ensures I'm using proper form, making me feel safe to try new and difficult exercises. I also appreciate that he's able to demonstrate anything he wants me to do. For example, on my own I never would have tried deadlifts balancing on one foot on a balance ball, but it's helped my joint stability. When I first started working with him, I wasn't flexible enough to do the squats he thought would be helpful, but after a few months of following his stretching routine I now can. He's helped me reach some of the best shape I've been in, progress in sports I had plateaued in or grown wary of, recuperate from some injuries, and forestall others. His positive, friendly face makes going to the gym fun, where before I found it boring. That's helped me maintain a more continuous baseline fitness regimen, where in previous years I've hibernated a bit over the winter and had a harder time re-entering my favorite sports. He even sometimes joins in the workout alongside me, and it's a great motivator. His rates are super reasonable for the very high quality training he offers.
