Only thing I have to complain about is they left a TON of staples in my brand new carpet, some that were half sticking out so caught my foot a couple of times. Najera abated an old transite cement flue that I had in my 1930s home. The flue was basically a chimney for the old floor heater that the previous owners removed. The previous owners just chose to leave the old flue in place as it was not damaged. My wife and I didn't like having the flue in the house as an earthquake could easily spread asbestos everywhere. My wife and I were both present on the telephone with three employees of this company one of whom said she was Chris's friend who would be meeting us-- and that would be Christian Vildosola. We were both in our condominium when the two men visited and from whom we got business cards, Chris's stating he was a Project Manager, and we took his picture. The first employee with whom we spoke to confirm that they had been contacted by the homeowners association (HOA) who wanted them to confirm our previous reports said she was the receptionist and Chris's girlfriend. And finally, we spoke with and got a business card from "Jose Alcala Senior Estimator" who visited and took more pictures after Christian left. [[HIGHLIGHT]]In all of those conversations we insisted that our agreement was required to enter our "separate interest" and that if we were going to agree to yet another inspection, we wanted to know that it was legitimate, and that the inspector was going to show up. We had two previous "appointments" which cost us hours and miles driving after which neither showed up to meet us.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] So, our first explanation in this YELP thread of what took place stands. This strikes me as more of the same by the HOA whom we've not heard from about remediating the mold and stink in the walls and duct work. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We spoke with another Member/homeowner in the complex who had a sewage leak and got the same sort of run-around including concealing how to file a claim with the HOA insurance company since we're told that we're entitled to do so by THE FARMERS insurance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It seems that too many insurance claims can cause insurers to drop HOAs and others. Anyway, we had hoped to determine what the standards would be for the restoration recommended so we could move on as the young woman was forced to do by the same behavior by the HOA "board of directors" and the insurance broker. We're guessing this concealment is about the HOA continuing to try to prevent our filing a timely insurance claim: From correspondence with our primary care physician on the problem, "Black mold testing. Do-it-yourself (DYI) mold test kits are available. There are advertisements for services that offer to test the type of mold discovered. But there are no national testing standards or reporting formats, so the results may not provide helpful information. No matter which type of mold you have in your environment, get it removed as soon as possible. Testing only delays matters." [[HIGHLIGHT]]The HOA board of directors has not written what they want to do and they haven't offered to meet with us about the problem regardless of what this outfit reported to them secretly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We've had the same problem with the required inspection for other pests and the State law required deck, landing, stair and handrail inspections. This is an ongoing problem with this HOA and the entire Inland Empire area including some high-profile businesses and even government that have not done their roof maintenance and repairs. One is the largest medical group in this County. Another is a City fire department who gave-away its stations because only the County had the resources to remediate the mold. We have pictures if anyone would like to see them. This negligence and covering it up has the potential to bankrupt this HOA. Earlier today, we heard that the YELP moderators removed a review of a similar business who left their paperwork on our door that they would be working on our deck and were seen by neighbors who phoned us stating they were there and had taken pictures. The work was unfinished and a brand-new screen door on a second-story deck was ruined while they were there. But YELP decided that we had a conflict-of-interest without explaining their thinking. We were simply trying to provide not only warnings to others but feedback to the roofing and painting contractor by YELPING about it rather than keeping it a secret by discussing it offline. It wouldn't surprise me if this is taken down, too. So let me know if you need a screenshot. Article 2.4 of the recorded Restrictions for the HOA says there must be written permission from the homeowner to enter the homeowner's living space. In the final analysis as I believe your attorney would explain-- adding however that we'd have to prove it, an agreement is the understanding between persons. Handshake agreements as they're sometimes called are often confirmed in-writing, an e-mail or a letter, with the opportunity to disagree that all were apparently mistaken and that there needed to be corrections or a cancellation. It is not necessary that agreements be memorialized in writing but that has become increasingly important in such times. But, again, the paper itself is not the contract. A man or a business is only as good as his word. And we doubt that the HOA board of directors has evidence in its timely approved minutes that they asked your company to misrepresent what was going to take place to get us to meet and provide your company with access to our home. read more
