Loved it! Good food, nice staff , what's to complain about? Well, maybe that there's not one in my neighborhood?

I've been eating sushi/sashimi all over the world for fifty five years and rate them highly. I can't comment on the elaborate sushi rolls; an American invention. I prefer Japanese, however an American friend speak highly of them. Kyota Ka is tops in Toledo.

I had started telling my wife "I can't believe something can taste this good!" The only other place in Toledo I would have something about which I would say this about was Souk. But then sometime towards the end of last year, the roll changed. It was still pretty good, but not the superb thing I had come to love. So I stopped coming in so often, but still once in a while in the hopes that they would go back to how they used to make it. I'd given up, but today broke down and went in today as I missed it so much. But my hopes were dashed as the roll was just pretty good. So I'll have to start the search to find another place to get my fix for rolls. Another thing is that during this time frame is how most of the time the salad comes out with just a bare dribble of dressing on it. So I guess a plausible explanation for this places downfall may simply be from skimping due to food costs.

So I'm always weary of AYCE places. 2 things I look for are freshness and the amount of rice…read more The server was nice and service was pretty good. However, what I didn't like was the sushi didn't really taste fresh, to me atleast. The first round of sushi, I ordered a few apps, the soft shell crab, miso soup, and ikura and squid nigiri, I also ordered an octopus sashimi plate, in which the pieces did not look nor taste fresh at all. I was glad it only came with 3 pieces. The spicy scallop hand roll I ordered came stuffed with tempura flakes mixed in spicy mayo, there were only 2 or 3 bites with discernible pieces of scallop... the second round was even worse with more rice and tempura flakes mixed in. The second round of my order I noticed considerably more rice in the order. The second round really just turned me off and I was ready to leave... I definitely did not enjoy this place, the service was good but the quality was lacking. Ambiance felt alittle messy or dirty. My table didn't even have soy sauce...

We came in as a large crowd without a reservation. There were seven of us total this time. Service was much faster! Was it because the restaurant was almost empty? Maybe! But what I will say is all of our sushi was perfect. The appetizers were hot, the options were endless. The server was on top of all of our drink and food request. The black pepper, tuna, the short ribs, and the crab Rangoon were some of the best appetizers I have had. Not the best for all you can eat, not the best for quick serve, but some of THE best. I am hoping it wasn't just that it was dead, but that they actually have a better rhythm and service pace. If I had had a bad experience this time around again, it probably would've been my last visit. I am looking forward to coming back to Koi again. We ordered probably 10 alcoholic beverages between the table, at least 10 appetizers, and around 12 sushi rolls. We never sat without food. Our table was bussed almost the second we finished our plates, and our drinks were always full. They must've heard all the complaints and the music was turned much lower, we didn't have to yell above what sounded like club music. There was not as much of the overstimulating strobe light flashy dance club effect. The restrooms were spotless, the sushi bar was well staffed.

The dining in area is limited but comfortable. Ordering to-go, you'll get the same fresh quality of food and the service is always friendly and process overall is quick and easy. For the summer, definitely try out their sushi or Blvd Bowls, but their ramen on a nice cold day/night (esp. in the winter) is my absolute favorite. It's also a great ramen for when you're feeling sick.

Tasted super fresh despite delivery service. I ordered the panko chicken curry as well. The first time, I ordered Med spicy, then the second time was extra spicy and it was perfect. I broke a sweat. The panko chicken was crunchy and crispy. I ordered the brown rice w it which I only took a few bites of trying to eat it low carb, but the brown rice was good too. There is plenty of parking in the back and you have to walk around to the front for the entrance. Owner looked Japanese and they look like they know what they're doing. Would definitely come back if I'm in the area.

This place is about a half mile away and on the way to where I was going, and I'm glad I stopped in here to eat. From the outside it's not huge looking. Kind of in a dingy strip mall. But, it seems like some of the best sushi spots are these days, so I went inside and was seated shortly there after. There really wasn't anyone in here, but it's a Friday, so maybe I was early. Anyway, my server was great and I reviewed the menu. I was happy to see that they offer lunch specials. They have four different kinds. They all include a soup, an appetizer and either an entree or a sushi roll. I went with Miso soup, crab rangoon (I only got 2) and a Climax roll for my main course. The price range for these deals is from $11 to about $14 depending on what you get. The food here was great, but my only complaint was the wasabi seemed to be extremely dry. I couldn't seem to get it to stay on the sushi and I've never had this problem before. Anyway, the roll was fantastic otherwise, and I really enjoyed my food here. My total bill was $14 plus tip. I've been waiting to write this review, because it's review 2000! so, here's to me. I was overthinking on what to do and where to go, and I just said to heck with it, pick a spot and go!
