    Tonkatsu pork belly

I think they are gearing up for a remodel or what, but if you are looking for ambience.well.... However The food was amazing!!! Everything was well prepared and super fresh. The server was nice and friendly. Attentive but not intrusive. I took her recommendation for the 183, and the tempura cheesecake, and was not disappointed. For the price I think it's an incredible value.

The Garlic Tonkotsu Ramen is so good! I loved the char on the chonkatsu, and the broth with the chili oil is perfection. I ordered with extra chonkatsu and extra egg. The Sonomono salad with shrimp was refreshing-very good! Just stopping by to give my review while ordering more ramen.

The first time trying this place out and we were welcomed to n with a friendly smile. They have an extensive menu but I was told to try out the bento box. There are so many choices. The one I settled on was Chef Choice of nigiri with your choice of a roll and two apps. I made all the right choices apparently. The peppered tuna slices were so thin and covered in crushed black pepper, tasted like bacon of the sea. The tofu agadashi was also deliciously crispy and tasty. The chicken Katsura was so crispy yet tender. Don't let this quiet, unassuming place fool you, the food is on point!

I must comment on their ramen. I was craving some ramen and sushi so my sister and I looked up some nearby restaurants, and this came up with high reviews. I was eager to see what the hype was about so we were happy that once we got to the restaurant, we were seated right away. We got the choose three sushi, and had spicy tuna, spicy crab, and Cajun calamari. Along with that I ordered char siu ramen with shoyu broth, which is a soy based broth. This was really good ramen, and the broth was very flavorful. I added some chili oil for some extra heat, and that raised the flavor profile of the dish. Overall, I enjoyed this greatly. As for the sushi, I didn't think the sushi was the best I've had, especially having eaten sushi in bigger cities. It didn't seem very fresh to me, and the only palatable one I enjoyed was the spicy crab. My sister also ordered char-siu ramen with tonkotsu broth, which is a pork bone based broth. She wasn't a fan of the broth and described it as tasting like water. After trying a bit of mine, she did like it.

I didn't give 5 Stars because of no mackerel fish. Otherwise, I'm experimenting with several other options. Hot tea drink. Lots of carry-out happening. I've asked for several octopus and tuna variations. All was REALLY good.

If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would. Everything we ordered was amazing. Don't let the upside full you. This is flavor town. Amazing!!!Super quick too

I don't know where to start. I really love this place. My family and I decided to try this place as a last minute birthday dinner 2 years ago. And we have been coming back almost every month since then. Their sushi is unmatched. I have never had sushi of such a stellar quality and freshness. Not only is their sushi amazing, but also their hibachi is the best in town, we order the steak hibachi with noodles and veggies (pictured below). The lamb and squid skewers are melt in your mouth delicious!!! Please try the Caddy Roll, the Crazy Dragon Roll, the Spicy Salmon roll... or anything! I have yet to have a roll I dislike from this establishment. Also the salmon nigiri is delicious and totally worth every penny!! The staff is extremely friendly. The owner is friendly and interactive and really helps his guests have a good time. The wait staff is attentive and does a great job while handling a full house and taking mobile orders all in the heat of a pandemic. (Which might I add this restaurant has done and continues to do a great job with cleanliness and sanitation throughout the past year and a half during COVID). Definitely give this place a try if you love sushi or any Japanese cuisine!

Yum! I will be back. Great food and service. I had the lunch bento with teriyaki shrimp, pepper, tuna, tuna roll, and Hotz's.

    Combo B: 3 special rolls + 2 regular rolls $65

Had the Tougen Combo B: 3 special rolls + 2 regular rolls, $65 & the soft shell crab tempura. Delicious & fresh sushi. Soft shell crab tempura came with tempura squash, sweet potato, onion, rice & sauce. Friendly & efficient service. Decor is lacking, but the food made up for it. Would definitely return.

Definitely try a bento box. It's a great deal with a ton of flavors and textures.

The best by far in Toledo. Try the Jade roll The miso is excellent as well. The salads are ice cold and just the way I like them. Perfect.

I had tried to make a reservation for a party of two, but was told they only take reservations for larger groups. I was advised to arrive between 5pm-5:30pm on a Saturday evening to avoid a wait. We arrived at 5:30pm and were promptly seated. The ambiance here is very casual and comfortable. Our server promptly came by to take our drink orders and give us menus. We were also provided with complimentary biscuits that were very good, though not as warm as we would have liked. I ordered the honey-BBQ salmon with green beans and mac 'n cheese. My friend ordered a burger. Food was served in an appropriate amount of time. My salmon was perfectly grilled and seasoned. The green beans were plentiful and deliciously fresh. The macaroni and cheese was a bit disappointing but not bad. It came in a small container and all I could see initially was a cream sauce; once I put my fork in, I discovered the macaroni. We had a nice evening and service was casually excellent- which is the vibe of the restaurant. I would definitely return and recommend Shorty's True American Roadhouse!

I ended up getting a sandwich. I would've never ordered Pryor, but I am glad I did. You can tell they were out of a lot of meats, because the baked beans I got were pretty much a bunch of beans, floating and barbecue sauce and not even very many beans at all The mac & cheese was decent, but nothing to write home about. I had to add a decent amount of salt and pepper. But waiting in line for 20 minutes for quick order food just to find out almost all of it was gone is a bit ridiculous It's pretty unorganized and chaotic The condiment station look like it has been ransacked, so I ended up for going any pickles or onions due to fear of some weird foodborne illness The whole experience is just a bit lacking. Menu looked decent with various food choices, full bar, numerous tvs playing different things; so we thought a good food experience was in the making. We ordered ribs (1/3 rack) with a half salad $18.98 and the rib combo with brisket and baked sweet potato $26.98. A couple years ago, I was in the Houston TX area for a couple months and I was introduced to Texas BBQ - I fell in love with a particular BBQ restaurant in Spring TX. Meat there is always, juicy and fall-off-the-bone tender and is only open until they run out of BBQ meats for the day (which usually happens on a daily basis). Sadly, Smokehouse 734 didn't even come close on the expectations I had for good BBQ in the Toledo area. The Brisket didn't even look like it was smoked - no bark on the meat at all, no truly define smoke ring, and the fat cap / meat was almost cool to the touch. Usually when brisket is smoked properly and you pick up a slice, it will bend with the juices dripping. This was not the case at Smokehouse 734. The brisket portion was 2 slices that barely covered a slice of bread. My serving of ribs still had the silver skin attached and had to work to get the meat off the bone - not able to pull the bone out of the meat. Ribs were a tad bit warmer than the brisket, but definitely not fresh off the smoker by any means. Cornbread was a bit dry (crumbly) but had a decent flavor. With all this said, probably the best part of my meal was the baked sweet potato at the ala carte price of $4.99. My search for a legit BBQ restaurant in NW Ohio / SE Michigan continues...
