    Beast Roll

This is, without a doubt, the best place in the surrounding area for fresh, high-quality, and fairly priced sushi. I'm consistently amazed at the quality and quantity in relation to the prices. It's a hidden gem that's not so hidden anymore--no matter the day of the week, the restaurant is always bustling with diners. I recommend making a reservation on weekends, as it tends to get busy, while weekdays are more low-key. The service is exceptional, and the drinks and bar offerings are fantastic. While wait times can be longer when ordering sushi--especially during peak hours--everything is made fresh with clear attention to detail. Although there are many creative and extravagant rolls on the menu, the Beast Roll remains a personal favorite. Topped with crab and shrimp tempura, it's an incredible value at around $12.50. The combination of quality, price, and service here is unmatched, making it the best bang for your buck. I've tried various dishes and appetizers, and I've been consistently satisfied each time. Having dined here numerous times, I've never encountered a single issue, which is a rare and impressive feat. Their takeout service is equally excellent.

Had lunch here with two friends on a Wednesday. The place was nearly empty. My friends had the lunch teriyaki chicken and liked that. It came with a salad. They liked the dressing. It also came with miso soup, which they let me try. All three of us agreed it was too salty and had no other flavor. I had the cooked New York Roll. It had one measly shrimp cut in half to decorate each end. The overall flavor was not bad, but the beef strips on top looked tired. Overall not a fan enough to return.

We stopped in for some sushi for dinner for the first time on a Friday night. The place is clean and modern. It was busy when we arrived but we were able to get a seat quickly. Service was good. They have a great sushi selection and several entrees as well. The sushi was good and plentiful! We will be back.

10 stars. I have been eating at Kyoto Ka for about 11 years. Never once have I been disappointed. Chef Joe treats me and everyone else like they are family and not just another person. The sushi, nigiri, sake and everything else is always super fresh and delicious. The service is perfect and I never worry that my needs will be taken care of. The rebuild after the fire has proved to have done wonders to the new omakase room. I can't wait to try that. LOVE YOU CHEF jOE

Food and service have been great both times we have ate here. We even took our 1 year old and the sushi chef kept him entertained.

There is a little bridge that sits atop a koi fish pond. I will say this may be hard to navigate in a wheelchair but it is doable. The host was on top of everything and we were seated with a little wait (we had a reservation for 6 and it was pretty packed for a Thursday.) I want to note that the bathrooms are immediately to the left when you walk in. The bar is also right at the entrance and although I'm not a drinker they seemed to have a decent selection with their own cocktails. We came for the hibachi but there are tables in the back if you want something from the kitchen. There is also a side room for large parties. Like any place like this we did have to sit with another party and it was pretty cramped but manageable. The server was amazing, I wish I had asked her name, I think I might have missed it. She cleaned off bowls and plates in a timely fashion, keeping our spaces open and was there for refills without being asked. I'm not a big hibachi fan but came for my boyfriend's birthday so I got the chicken katsu from the kitchen and it was SO GOOD with the sauce but a little dry without it. The miso soup came out hot and delicious and the house salad with the dressing was great as always. The teppanyaki chef did a great job, he had a good sense of humor and was very professional. Everything turned out really well. I also wanted to note that the floors were very slippery for everyday footwear. I will definitely be back soon!

For the summer, definitely try out their sushi or Blvd Bowls, but their ramen on a nice cold day/night (esp. in the winter) is my absolute favorite. Tasted super fresh despite delivery service. I ordered the panko chicken curry as well. The first time, I ordered Med spicy, then the second time was extra spicy and it was perfect. I broke a sweat. The panko chicken was crunchy and crispy. I ordered the brown rice w it which I only took a few bites of trying to eat it low carb, but the brown rice was good too. There is plenty of parking in the back and you have to walk around to the front for the entrance. Owner looked Japanese and they look like they know what they're doing. When I inquired about the Steamed 2 Special, I was told I needed to order the #4 Chicken and Shrimp Teriyaki. There appeared to be a language barrier and so I settled on the #4 with very light Teriyaki sauce. When I specified the vegetable as broccoli, I watched as the counter person scooped pre-prepared broccoli onto the styrofoam plate. While I had hoped the broccoli would be freshly made along with the shrimp and chicken, I saw that it was not an option without an argument- and I had already had too long a day. The chicken and shrimp teriyaki was actually not bad. However, the pre-cooked broccoli had an awfully bitter aftertaste. I ate what I could and tossed the rest as not worth saving due to the quality of the broccoli and the bitter aftertaste it left on anything it touched. Since I ate in the Food Court at the Mall, the ambiance was very casual and very public- basically just a place to sit and eat your meal. I noticed workers trying to keep the area clean, which I appreciated. My experience at Nori Japan was a very basic meal that wasn't horrible overall. There are many choices at the food court to find what you like - and Nori Japan may be to your taste!

However, what I didn't like was the sushi didn't really taste fresh, to me atleast. The first round of sushi, I ordered a few apps, the soft shell crab, miso soup, and ikura and squid nigiri, I also ordered an octopus sashimi plate, in which the pieces did not look nor taste fresh at all. I was glad it only came with 3 pieces. The spicy scallop hand roll I ordered came stuffed with tempura flakes mixed in spicy mayo, there were only 2 or 3 bites with discernible pieces of scallop... the second round was even worse with more rice and tempura flakes mixed in. The second round of my order I noticed considerably more rice in the order. The second round really just turned me off and I was ready to leave... We came in as a large crowd without a reservation. There were seven of us total this time. Service was much faster! Was it because the restaurant was almost empty? Maybe! But what I will say is all of our sushi was perfect. The appetizers were hot, the options were endless. The server was on top of all of our drink and food request. The black pepper, tuna, the short ribs, and the crab Rangoon were some of the best appetizers I have had. Not the best for all you can eat, not the best for quick serve, but some of THE best. I am hoping it wasn't just that it was dead, but that they actually have a better rhythm and service pace. If I had had a bad experience this time around again, it probably would've been my last visit. I am looking forward to coming back to Koi again. We ordered probably 10 alcoholic beverages between the table, at least 10 appetizers, and around 12 sushi rolls. We never sat without food. Our table was bussed almost the second we finished our plates, and our drinks were always full. They must've heard all the complaints and the music was turned much lower, we didn't have to yell above what sounded like club music. There was not as much of the overstimulating strobe light flashy dance club effect. The restrooms were spotless, the sushi bar was well staffed.
