Their food is decent and I love that its an Indian halal restaurant in Cedar Park which is a rare find. I had their chicken biryani, tandoori chicken and palak paneer with butter and garlic naan. I enjoyed the meal except for the naan because most pieces of the naan were burnt and that was hard to eat. They really need to work on answering their phone as it is impossible to call and get through to place pick up orders. I ordered food from this location via Uber Eats yesterday (and I never received my food). While I am more than annoyed about this, it's not on Nala, that's on Uber, and I get that. However, I decided to go into the establishment today and purchase a few of the items I was supposed to receive yesterday, today. Today, I re-order the shrimp vindaloo with rice. *Public service announcement* For the folks who don't know, vindaloo is made up of vindaloo sauce, which is usually made from caramelized onions, curry paste, coconut milk, vinegar, ginger, chilies, jalapeno, garlic, chickpeas, lentils, and other spices like salt, pepper, paprika, and turmeric. The vindaloo from the establishment was heavy on chili flakes which was a let down because the chilies in dishes like these are supposed to be simmered down to create the vindaloo itself. Because of this, the vindaloo lacked the punch that one comes to expect. For me, this dish was mediocre at best 2.5/5 I also re-ordered the Aloo Bonda. These were soggy, and that just wont do for a snack like this. The consistency of this snack alone made it unappealing to eat. 2/5 read more

Some really good flavors, but personally, I prefer the whole spices be removed before being served, but not sure that is tradition. I was a bit put off after chomping into s few. Indian and Chinese restaurants are getting hit doubly hard right now because of the pandemic and the unjustified hate coming from ignorance. They need your patronage more than ever right now. Napa's also is handling covid precautions well and packages their food very nicely. In Monday's they have a BOGO free special entree deal. We BOGO'd (that's now a word) the Hyderabad chicken biryani, the chicken tikka masala, and the tandoor chicken. We also go some garlic naan and gulab jamun. This all fed 4 hungry people. Don't be afraid of the food being spicy because none of it is. The naan didn't have much flavor, but it got the job done. I do not recommend the chicken tikka masala. The sauce is very underwhelming with an almost chef Boyardee vibe. I think they tailor this to the Texan taste bud. I added some spicy chili sauce at home and that helped. The biryani was tasty! Each tray came with an entire piece of chicken in the middle and it had much for spice and flavor than the masala. I do wish they had served limes though. Luckily I had some at home. The tandoori chicken had good char marks and was moist on the inside. I wish they had kheer for dessert, but instead we got the $4 order of 3 gulab jamun. They were sweet and soft on the inside. Ordered pepper chicken (appetizer) and a family size dosa for to-go. Came back home saw the pepper chicken had loads of gravy, they made it as an entre. In the menu, the family size dosa has a picture with potato fillings in the bowl. The one we got didn't have any potato fillings. The food was okay, dosa chutneys were great. It looks like the owners are in the process of fully training a new cook, and they know better than anyone that there can be no short-cuts when creating quality. And that quality flavor done consistently is the heart of a local spot, especially in Austin. The new cook Must be committed to this in every single dish. I had the Chicken Curry and for me it was good. Nice spices, served hot. I like a creamier curry, but I still ate every single bite. What won me over was Sai. How hard of a worker she is. Her upbeat energy really added to the experience. And I pray she's not alone on Fridays or Saturdays or when it's busier, quality food and service is going to require a team, even if the owners themselves need to be there. I live way south. I had my dinner here with my friend yesterday and ordered the following. 2 plain naan 1 fish curry with rice 1 idli with sambhar 1 masala dosa with saambhar 1 coffee 4$ 1 vada 1 sprite Here is what came out. 2 naan (undercooked with raw dough inside) 1 fish curry (good but with no flavor) and no rice 1 idli sambhar with no salt in the sambhar at all 1 masala dosa with no salt in the masala or spice plain and cold sambhar didn't have any salt in it Coffee was served in a dirty cup and served 35 minutes after sitting down 1 vada plate was undercooked. This place is not only bad this time, no food serving was done. The servers need to be trained in food handling, the cooks need to cook the right food and stop charging so damn much for substandard food. This is unhealthy and disgusting. They have a nice buffet. We went for lunch buffet. It is extensive with wide selection. Dosa, puri and naan served fresh at your table. Buffet has over 5 deserts. I came here a couple times to try their lunch combo that they have. It's a generous portion served for lunch as it includes rice, naan, daal, appetizer, a curry, and a dessert. Value wise I think it's great! Taste wise, just okay. Both times they didn't have their lunch combos on a menu or display anywhere so I had to ask the server directly what they were. Not sure if they were new but they only talked about 2 options: veggie and meat, and left it at that. Later I learned from a colleague that there were waaaay more options available. read more

This is such a disgusting experience, I placed a pick up order from door-dash for idly with chutney and sambar and when I was about to taste the sambar from the container there was a big green fly floating, first I taught it some veggie or something coz they do put some veggies in sambar and to my shock it ended up being a big fly. When restaurants provide with food like this and what if I ate the fly without noticing it ? One of the best tasting Indian restaurants in the area. Their veg and non veg combo is the best deal for money. You can also get add ons for the combo. During this pandemic, with great risk and just to enjoy Indian food from restaurants we ordered from Nala's. But we are so much disappointed with the food. Firstly we were able to feel that the food is not at all fresh. Probably food might be 2 or 3 days old. We placed veg dum briyani, Panneer tikka masala and chilli parotta. With veg dum Bryani they offered free appetizer. The worst thing is they fried the veg starters in the same oil which was used for non veg. We were able to feel chicken smell the moment we opened. Not satisfied. We ordered parottas, fried rice, dum biryani, sambar idli and gobi manchurian. I am used to eating spicy food but Gobi manchurian was extremely spicy and it almost burnt my lips. Fried rice was again rice with chili and some cut veggies. It didn't have the test of a fried rice at all. Kothu parota was good or at least there is nothing to complain. So was the case with chettinad veg curry but the quantity was too less. My suggestion would be to cut down the menu into half and focus on what your strengths are instead of having too many things and not being able to make all of them the way they are suppose to be. I am hoping that the management will take the comments seriously and improve the quality of the food read more

We ordered Talapakatti Biriyani and Hyderabad chicken Biriyani. They delivered food With a 2 hours delay. When I opened the order I really got shocked. They just gave some bland rice with some mutton and it is not the food they should pack. Its far less than normal Biriyani standards.I have ordered the same food with several other restaurants and I know what that is.They packed raita which is too salty to taste it and they gave baby quantities and definitely not worth/ value for money. It's a clear sign of cheating and pack what ever they want to pack despite of ordered food. Probably they expect less turn outs and accept they useless dishes.. My online order was not printed as the third part website had an old link to Onam lunch menu. Additionally, I couldn't get a hold of anyone over the phone as well to change my pick up date. But, Nala's owner Mr. Mohan quickly called me and explained what had happened. He was not only able to reschedule my pick up date and time, he replaced the order as well with no additional cost. To begin with, everything is halaal. So even folks who don't care for halaal have to pay a premium. Moving on, tried a few non-vegetarian items and South Indian vegetarian items over couple of visits. Chicken Biryani, Goat Biryani, Idli and Dosa. Chicken Biryani was 3/5 but everything else was very disappointing. Goat Biryani was greasy and devoid of any flavor. All the meat in the dish was pretty much bone pieces and joints. Less said about Idli and Dosa the better. We had to throw away the Idli. Chutneys were spoilt, so they went out with Idli as well. My earlier recollections of ordering from there (earlier in year) were fine, not sure what happened. Many other restaurants survived COVID and were able to serve good food even if service was not great. Not the case here. read more

We came here for lunch after an appointment at ARA nearby. Had two meal combos at $6.99 each from the lunch menu: South Indian Vegetarian Combo and North Indian Non-Veg (I.e. chicken) Combo. Both tasted great and were good value for $7! The vegetarian Biryani was richly flavored with clove and other spices. The chicken was nicely seasoned and cooked. Worst customer service ever. Sam (apparently the owner) was so rude to us when we called them about our take-out order. We ordered Parotta with Chicken Salna and the Salna didn't even have any chicken in it. When we called the restaurant, he asks us very rudely, "What do you want me to do?" He finally offered to give us a gift card for the amount which we accepted and were told we'll receive by email later that night. We called 2 days later and Sam answered the phone again and remembered us and again super rudely said they were busy through the weekend and couldn't send the gift card to us and that we will get it Monday morning. He sounded so defensive and was extremely disrespectful with the way he spoke to us. Can't believe we paid money to eat at this place. Absolutely crappy service. I was disappointed. I really wanted to like this restaurant since it is closeby. The chicken Tika Misala sauce was not as good as other Indian restaurants (in my opinion). It did not have a dark rich red tomato sauce. The chicken itself had some pieces that were hard as if they were microwaved. Very cute little place and very colorful inside. The staff was sooo nice and very attentive to my table . We ordered the dosa masala which was delicious and very big lol we both ordered the chicken tikka masala and asked it to be extra spicy.
