A pretty nice restaurant serving Indian cuisine. My friend recommended this place and I must say I wasn't disappointed. There is ample parking and the place is clean. It even has table service. I ordered the Tikka Masala with lamb. I was asked my spice level and I chose medium. I probably could have gotten the spicy but I prefer to enjoy the flavor over the spice level. Had lunch with the family at Rana Indian Restaurant at Cedar Park. We got seated immediately, it was relatively empty. The restaurant is located in a shopping complex and has plenty of parking. We tried the Butter Chicken, Lachha paratha, Tandoori Roti and Chai. And Paneer paratha for the kiddo. Butter Chicken was really good, chicken was cooked just right. We had medium spicy but honestly it wasn't spicy at all and the kiddo enjoyed it as well. Paneer paratha was good too, kiddo ate it happily. It can get a little dry by itself so you might want a side of yogurt. Masala chai was good too. read more

....writing this review presents quite a conundrum: while the food itself was excellent, other aspects were less than desirable.....since there doesn't appear to be link to the menu I'll just have to guess....we had papadum appetizer which was fantastic....usually places just bring the crispy 'Indian chips' by themselves but these had finely minced onion, other veggies and some unusual little yellow sprinkles.....I ordered marinated chicken thighs which are apparently an appetizer but was plenty for an entree....wife had some chicken in sauce.....not sure which one since I can't see menu...It was very good....we shared both of these....add in some buttered roti and naan plus mango lassis....all very tasty.....now for the not so good: in attempting to order from the extensive menu we asked some questions...we're familiar with lots of Indian cuisine and the extensive menu had many items that were unfamiliar....the communication was difficult...asked for topo chico - none; asked for tandoori chicken - they were out....why would an Indian restaurant be out of a common item at 6:00 on a weekday; asked if they had saag paneer and server had to consult her handheld device - they did not...other questions did not get intelligible answers....there was a long black hair in my menu - not good....the hall to the restrooms was dirty and the back door filthy.....I was facilities manager for restaurant chains in a previous life and this would never have passed....there was a sign over the sink in the men's restroom saying 'don't put pressure on sink It will fall down'....this is a major fail in that 1. it looks terrible and 2. someone could just put hand on sink to steady themselves and it could fall and injure them....potential liability issue.....JUST FIX IT! read more

We went for lunch this past Saturday for the second time, and it was amazing. We were immediately greeted by not only delicious smells from the kitchen, but also from the super friendly and kind staff members. We ordered garlic naan, butter chicken, a mango lassi, chicken biryani, and vegetable samosas. We got the samosas first, and they were piping hot and flavorful. The tamarind and mint chutneys were also tasty! All of our main courses were also absolutely fantastic as well. The butter chicken was rich, luscious, and creamy. The garlic naan was pillowy with a wonderful chew. The biryani was super flavorful and satisfying. The mango lassi was a delicious treat on a hot day! All throughout the meal, waitstaff checked on us and made sure we were enjoying everything. A great authentic Indian restaurant with superb flavors, spices and variety! Hubby had and I had chilli fish, goat biriyani, the chef's special spicy paneer dish and butter roti. I met a friend for lunch here. The food was SO GOOD! They weren't afraid to add the spice (upon request) We ordered samosas and they were ok. The Dal Masala and Paneer tikka masala were both full of flavor and perfectly seasoned. Great menu with tons of options. The service was adequate- not overly friendly. But still good. Rana offers authentic North Indian / Punjabi food, a rare find in Austin which has a South Indian dominated food scene. The restaurant has a hole in the wall feel - I have only eaten in once and primarily do takeout. The items are hit or miss, hence 4/5 stars. The vegetarian dishes are typically much tastier than the non vegetarian options. I enjoy the parathas, malai kofta, and navratan korma. They also make a pretty epic vegetable biryani. After eating at Rana, I am feeling so incredibly lucky that they have opened in Cedar Park. I couldn't even stop eating to take photos because each dish was that good. I started with the dahl soup which was light and refreshing. It was clear that it had been simmering for some time vs places who whip it together real quick...the taste is easily distinguishable. It was also a beautiful dish where you can actually see each spice and peice of veg. All the dishes were (even with Take Away). I also tried the samosa which I absolutely loved. The filling was the perfect spice and was very flavorful and the pastry was perfect. The Aloo mutter had me swaying in my seat. Definitely my fav. The veg was fresh and plentiful. The chicken Tikka Masala and butter chicken were also amazing. Spice options are clear and were exactly as ordered. The Roti was also yummy. We used to like this restaurant. Yesterday we ordered a large to go meal from them for close to $150 dollars. Kulcha was totally undercooked. Medium spice Tikka masala was super spicy and hot. We couldn't eat any of the food last night. We had to cook a fresh meal late I. The night and throw out the entire food. As it was tool late to call them, I called them to report about it today. The guy at the front desk Subhash said he will talk to chef and call me back, he called me back and said chef did all correct. Not a single apology. Did not even listen to what I have to say. What a horrible customer service and awful food. Please don't go there. They don't appreciate loyalty or customer service. Horrible food, Horrible service. A simple craving for Indian food lead me to try the newly opened Rana Restaurant. Small restaurant in a strip mall. There is lots of parking. I arrived shortly after they opened. There was only one couple eating when I walked in. So I had my choice of tables. A woman was in the front by the cashier counter. The cook was hidden behind the Orange room. The woman in front brought me a menu then left to get me a bottle of water. I decided on an order of samosas and Tandoori Mahi Tikka. The woman made sure I knew the Mahi was not in sauce but dry. I went with it anyway. Since all food is made fresh in house, the food took a bit of time. My samosas came out and they were still very hot. I broke it open to let the steam escape. That steam also released the delicious aromas that was trapped inside. I broke it up more into small pieces and dived in. These were so good. Yes, the same potato and pea filling but maybe different spices. I finished eating the first one in no time. I thought I would same the second to bring home. Nope, I couldn't stop thinking about it so I ate it too. The tandoori mahi arrives. Oh my. I am sure you have all tried Tandoori chicken but this mahi was a whole new level. The woman's definition of dry was not the same as mine. It had sauce on it but it wasn't swimming in sauce. I took my fork to break a piece of fish off. It literally flaked off and inside so moist. The first piece goes into my mouth. I kid you not when I heard myself yum in delight. I have not had anything like it before. Moist, flavorful, perfectly cooked. I ended up taking half home. The only reason I dropped one star is how expensive it was. $17.99 for the mahi and $6.99 for the samosas. I do plan on going back. read more

It was a long wait for this restaurant to open. Since it was less than a mile from my home- I would drive passed it everyday looking to see when it would open its doors. It's small - but the seating is comfortable. After checking out the menu I was overwhelmed with the amount of possibilities. In the end the order was this: Chicken 65 ( for the kids ) Chole samosa chaat Kasari malai kofta Do pyaza Chefs naan Roti Plain naan Don't judge, there were 4 people eating. I love how thing arrived in stages. Slowly all the items were out in front. All the smells and all the flavors. Point to be made is the food was very well prepared, flavorful, and of great quality. So, then why not the 5 stars?? --- available service. There was a lack of service. I asked three times for more water for the table. It never came. I asked for another menu to see if we wanted dessert - it never came. And I also asked for a mango Lass and it never came. I wasn't charged so that is not a big deal. Thanks for eating with me today. We have been searching for our favorite Indian restaurant since moving to the area and have been a little more than disappointed by the options we have tried. We relegated ourselves to having subpar Indian food UNTIL we tried Rana. Rana is a game changer & we are absolutely ecstatic to have finally found a delicious go-to Indian restaurant. Not super sweet, which we appreciated. Samosas - the most delicious samosas I've ever eaten. Would order again! Korma - Not great. At other places, this dish usually has a little sweetness, but this was super salty and not liquid enough. Garlic and regular naan - yummy. Cost - a little pricey for me to go as often as I'd like.
