Loved the orange pork chops here. Reminded me a lot of orange chicken, but it wasn't battered and didn't seem fried. There were real oranges in the sauce which I really enjoyed. I'm a huge fan of natural ingredients. The Vietnamese coffee was also super refreshing. The spots pretty hidden away, and I hadn't heard of it in the many years I've lived in NoVa but I definitely recommend this spot.

I ordered the beef pho bowl, and the portions were quite large. The broth was delicious too! I wasn't the biggest fan of the beef in the pho because it was a bit tough, but still a delicious bowl nonetheless. The service was pretty quick too. Note that they charge a 22% gratuity charge for parties more than 4.....

Will definitely be one of my go-to local spots! I could tell management has formed a longtime connection with many patrons and cares about their community! The service as exceptional and my water never went below half full. The beef pho was amazing on a cold winter day and came out piping. Typically I do not like pork but I would eat this pork all day everyday! It was tender yet crispy and sweet. The sauce on the side was the perfect touch. I have a peanut allergy and the staff was very careful and accommodating.

I only got the iced coffee with coffee ice cubes, no food though. The coffee is very dark, very sweet, and VERY strong. Had me shaking. If that's your thing, you'll love it! So cute; such a fun thing to try.

This place is an establishment, my family has been coming here for decades. Healthy, fresh, delicious food and excellent service. Great history as well. It's a must do when in the DC area.

Finally visited Nam Viet Restaurant for lunch. A friend of mine raves about this place - so I wanted to try it out. It's a bit of a cruise for me from where I live, so I combined it with a couple of other visits in the general area. After looking over the menu - I already knew that I was going to sample their Pho Ga. The menu only lists one size - so I went with that. The Pho Ga came out in slightly less than 10 minutes. The plate of aromatics was fresh and in fine fettle. I first tasted the broth, then added in all the accoutrements. The noodles were slightly clumped, but I teased them out of the clump. The chicken broth had a slight hint of sweetness. Most of the chicken was tender - but I had two pieces that were tough and chewy. Overall, a good bowl of Pho Ga. Nam Viet does not currently accept Apple Pay - so I paid with cash. Service was good. #NamVietRestaurant

The service was exceptional. The servers, maintained a vibrant and welcoming demeanor and demonstrated remarkable efficiency, ensuring our orders were delivered very quickly. The menu successfully caters to both vegan and non-vegan palates, and the quality is outstanding. The dishes are generously portioned, incredibly delicious, and offer great value for the price. We highly recommend The Nam Viet Restaurant for anyone seeking a high-quality Pho in a nice setting.

Every 6-8 weeks, I come here for one thing and one thing only: Can Tho Crispy Glazed Baby Back Ribs. The meal is pretty simple, but so delicious: deep-fried baby back ribs coated in a sweet and salty fish sauce glaze. The ribs are always served piping hot, paired with a bowl of jasmine rice. The sauce is so good, you'll want to dump the entire bowl into the fish sauce glaze that floods the plate just to sop up every bit. Service is always very fast. The restaurant is huge, but I've never seen it packed; it seems like Nam Viet is the go-to spot on Clarendon, though, for takeout bc there are always multiple patrons and food delivery drivers coming in and out to pick up orders every time I go.

Been eyeing this place for sometime now, wondering what that pho would taste like. Finally stumbled upon them when my taste buds were wanting something different and tasty.. Boy was I on the money!!! The service one the walk-in was exactly how it should be. Inviting and calm, we were seated right away. The restaurant was empty but got full up quick for the early evening rush. I was able to indulge in a pork belly with shrimp along with jasmine rice.. when I tell you this awoken my chakras and align my energy just right. My lady had grill chicken with vermicelli.. she loved it but me I was in love with it. I was thinking of getting a to go order but realize I'm being alil greedy. I will be return to my new pho spot in Clarendon..

Let me tell you, if you're looking for an authentic experience, look no further. The food was absolutely delicious! I can see why they've been around for so long, the flavors, the texture and the portions were just right!! Service was speedy and friendly, which was another plus. There's plenty of room for large groups and they have a variety of specialty cocktails. We will be back!!

Our meal took place on a Tuesday evening, yet the restaurant was constantly busy (though not packed to the point of having to wait for a table) with a diverse clientele, which speaks to Chay's popularity. I loved all the fresh veggies and generous amounts of peanuts and fried shallots in bún chả Hà Nội (vermicelli platter). As a saucy girlie, I REALLY liked the "fish sauce" accompanying the dish. Despite the deliciousness of those 2 dishes, the real star of the meal was thịt kho sả (lemongrass clay pot). Perfect flavoring; I almost forgot that it was vegetarian. This place is almost certainly better than our experience. But I can only review the visit I had,…read moreso consider this a provisional review--one I hope to update after giving Nue another try. The evening started with parking at the Foundry Row garage in the building next to the restaurant. It isn't free, and paying for it involves something of a gauntlet of QR codes, authorization numbers, and, as I recall, an app. You scan something when you enter the garage, get an authorization code at the restaurant, and then enter that--along with your license plate number--to pay for parking. None of this is Nue's fault, of course, but it is something customers should be prepared to deal with. We arrived a few minutes before our reservation and were told that our table was being cleaned and would be ready in two or three minutes. Forty-five minutes later, after standing in the crowded bar the entire time, we were finally seated. We asked several staff members why things were so backed up. The best explanation we got was that the restaurant was trying out a new all-you-can-eat option and was still working out the kinks. Hold that thought. The all-you-can-eat experiment is going to come up again. A waiter appeared a few minutes after we were seated, and I ordered a Wood Dragon--the closest thing on the cocktail menu to a Manhattan--and the Imperial Wagyu Zabuton. My drink arrived about 30 minutes later. It was actually very good: nicely balanced, with layers of flavor, and a very credible variation on a Manhattan. Except... As I sipped it while waiting for my food, I noticed it was becoming watered down much faster than I would have expected. It was almost as though the large ice cube hadn't been cold enough to begin with, or the finished drink had been sitting around for a while before it reached me. Either explanation would be consistent with a restaurant struggling with the unexpected demands of a new all-you-can-eat program. By the time my dinner arrived, what had started as a very good cocktail had become a glass of brownish, Manhattan-flavored water. The Wagyu was OK, but it had some issues. The dish was at its best when I combined pieces of beef with the squash and not-at-all-spicy peppers. Together, they produced a wonderful combination of flavors and textures. Unfortunately, my plate contained only two small pieces of squash and three small pieces of pepper. The portion of beef also seemed smaller than what was pictured on the menu but still more than could be accommodated by the other elements. That meant that much of my dinner consisted simply of pieces of admittedly tasty--but somewhat fatty, even for Wagyu--beef. It was still good. It was also a little boring. Again, I'm inclined to attribute the shortcomings to the strain of the new all-you-can-eat program, or perhaps to the now-late hour and a kitchen trying to wind things down. One definite positive was the staff. Setting aside the substantial delays, everyone we dealt with was pleasant and helpful. One of the managers even stopped by our table to apologize for the wait. It was especially nice that everyone was so nice because, with a MANDATORY 20% service fee, they really didn't have to be. The manager also mentioned that Nue is working to expand into the space next door to increase its seating capacity. My concern is that unless the kitchen expands along with the dining room, adding more customers clamoring for food may not solve the problems we experienced. My recommendation to you is to do what we're going to do: give Nue a little time to work out the kinks, then try it (again). There was enough good food and enough promise here that I'm not ready to judge the restaurant based on one unusually chaotic night. There is one exception. If you--and everyone you're dining with--have HUGE appetites, you may want to go right now and order the all-you-can-eat option. For the entire time we were at our table, a young (and surprisingly svelte) couple at the table next to us received an apparently endless parade of plates heaped with all manner of delicious-looking food. Plate after plate after plate. Because... all you can eat.

So bring cash or a personal check. Glad I had cash that night. Now onto the review. This is like old school Vietnamese restaurant. I love their spring roll. Meaty with crunchy fried texture. I also got the OG style of grill pork, with shredded pork and meat loaf on broken rice. A dish that is getting harder to find anywhere. My wife got the banh xeo. It was a bit oily and the shrimp tail was annoying to remove. Nonetheless, interesting dish worth trying at least one time. Will definitely go back and try more dishes. Their prices are reasonable. Today a middle-aged waitress gave me an attitude when she took our order. She looked at me several times like she was disapproving of me, although I believe I looked pleasant, well-kept, and professional. The waitress literally stared me down, with an attitude like "I'm better than you." WTF? I come here to kindly eat at your restaurant, I was dressed casual, not dressed to show off or flaunt anything that I have. If it were not for the presence of my companion I would probably have complained to the assistant manager about the waitress' rude behavior. Furthermore, a comment or two on the quality of the food. The seafood bird's nest dish had minimal portions of seafood -- four small shrimp, two small scallops, and three small pieces of squid with less-appetizing pieces of vegetables -- all for $23! Moreover, the shaky beef dish was dipped in baking soda or baking powder, making the dish tastes quite bitter. The bitter taste could hardly mask the fact that the beef cubes have been sitting around for a few days --the meat were partially rotting. Three dishes cost us $71. including tax, We left the restaurant still feeling hungry. Please, dear waitress, you don't own the place, please have better customer service, or we will unfortunately air our grievances on online reviews like this one!

We order their large protein bowls that come with chicken and beef and a ton of vegetables. On uber eats they also have deals where you get free chili oil and crunch which I love to add to the bowls. I also get their mama fried rice which comes with an egg on top and is delicious. I highly recommend this place for affordable high quality meals.

Ambiance - modern Asian restaurant on the second floor. Tables were clean. Ice machine broken (more on that later) and napkin dispensers at the counter needed refilling. Service- good! Employees very friendly and food came out quickly, less than 10 minutes after ordering. Food- ordered the oxtail pho, 2 pc eggrolls, and a Vietnamese coffee. Oxtail pho - rich flavorful broth, oxtail meat already separated from bone and served boneless. Noodles slightly overcooked in my opinion. Added some Vietnamese spice on the side and it added a nice kick to the soup. Eggrolls - extremely disappointing, came out and very obviously had been sitting for a long time. Lukewarm on the inside and completely cold on the outside. Caused eggrolls to be very chewy. Would not recommend. Vietnamese coffee - strong and sweet brewed in house. They come pre bottled which is fine but the real killer was the ice machine was broken so had to drink the coffee out of the bottle. Would think they would chill the bottle more strongly with the ice machine broken but unfortunately mine started barely "cold" and just got worse from there. Grand total for my order plus 4$ tip and a 1$ credit card surcharge was 38$. If the food was perfect that would still be a bit steep for the meal but bearable. However due to the execution errors I would say this is very poor value for this price. Would not recommend going out of your way to visit this place. Pho broth very good though!

Not too busy inside but a good amount of people for a Saturday at 7PM. We ordered a Thai Tea, Passionfruit Iced Tea, Scallion Pancakes, Crystal Shrimp Dumplings, Pork Shrimp Shu Mai, Cucumber Salad, Shanghai Soup Dumplings, Tiger Signature Dumplings, and Pork Chive Dumplings. Food came out as it was ready. The teas were ok, the Passionfruit was the best. The soup dumplings were disappointing. You can't avoid them breaking but there was hardly any meat, was lukewarm, and mostly fat. The Tiger Signature and Pork Chive dumplings were better, but not too much flavor. The amount of filling in there were ok. The Shu Mai and the Crystal Shrimp Dumplings were solid, not too bad at all. The Cucumber were refreshing and also a little spicy. The Scallion Pancakes were fine, nothing special. Food was ok overall. The staff is nice but it seems that they were a little slammed despite the restaurant not being too full. Hard to get the server's attention at times. I wouldn't go out of my way but I might come back if I'm in the Clarendon area again.
