While staying at Puerto Anfi, my days were a blur of lounging, swimming, and doing my best "I'm on vacation" impression. But there was one constant that kept pulling me out of my sun-drunk haze--the intoxicating aromas drifting over from the direction of Namaste India. I could spot it from a distance, glowing like a carnival at dusk, and much like a carnival, it promised indulgence.
For a couple of days, I tried to resist. Tried. But the scent of spices and sizzling magic whispered, come closer, and I finally surrendered.
We were seated promptly at a breezy outdoor table, perfect for people-watching and food-ogling. The menu had the greatest hits of Indian cuisine, which was fine by me. Here's how the feast went down:
* Palak Paneer - Think creamed spinach's cooler, better-traveled cousin. Add in soft cheese cubes that soak up the spices and suddenly Popeye's onto something.
* Roasted Prawns with Tikka Masala - We went mild, and it still packed flavor without setting off the smoke alarm in my mouth.
* Garlic Naan - Warm, fluffy, buttery, and the ultimate edible mop for all that glorious sauce.
* Vegetable Samosas - Golden triangles of crispy pastry stuffed with spiced veggies. A snack so good you'll question why you ever settled for frozen appetizers at home.
Service? Impeccable. The staff seemed to operate on a sixth sense--appearing exactly when we needed something and vanishing when we didn't.
