Chicken curry. Wow. This flavorful delight of a dish kept me going back for more bite after bite, even after ordering what was definitely a good few spice levels above my comfort zone. It tasted like it had been cooking for many hours with all the flavor it had. We also ordered chicken Tikka which had really great flavor also but was less of the star of the show for me personally. In spite of service being a little slow, this was a great experience. The food was delicious, portions were perfect, and atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable. It is not the most fancy or extravagant place inside or out, but it is reasonably priced and offers great food. And it is clean and I felt totally comfortable during the entire visit. I get the feeling that maybe the staff/owners are relatively new. And that's ok with me. It definitely explains the couple of very minor hiccups in service. I recommend giving this place a try. Ok, if I could, I'd do 2.5 stars. Why? We arrive get settled and give them our order. They confirm our desired spice levels and in a couple of minutes tasty apps hit the table. Apps are consumed and we continue chatting. And waiting. And waiting. I notice folks seated, fed and preparing to leave. I catch the eye of a staff member, gesture at our empty table and give her a 'whats up?' look. She nods and pops into the kitchen. We wait. I eventually catch the eye of our waitress (I will neither confirm nor deny she was actively avoiding us.....) And ask where our food is. She indicates she will go check We wait some more. After awhile I look at my wife and say 'if nothing happens in the next 5 min, we are leaving' She agrees. 5 more minutes pass. I look at her, she at me and we stand up, prepare to leave Our waitress appears almost magically and I tell her- just give us the check. She looks shocked.i say..we have been sitting here over 40 minutes. I've seen people come be seated and finish. No explanation, no offer of a comp, no nothing. Just give us the bill. She says just give me one more minute. Finally our food appears. No apologies. No offer of a drink or dessert. The food IS good at least. Bill comes and we are charged for everything, and still no apologies. Were they busy? A bit. There were empty tables, no lines for folks to be seated though. TLDR: good food. Namaste is a new restaurant occupying a space next to a motel that previously housed other Indian restaurants. They advertise as a mixed Asian restaurant and most of the dishes on the menu are Indian or Nepalese however you will find a couple atypical items. Please DO NOT let the location, outside appearance, or reputation of ptevious occupant deter you fro dining here! The food is great, service is attentive, and staff are warm and welcoming. Namaste offers a daily lunch buffet, even on weekends. M-F it is $8.99 and $11.99 on weekends. The weekend buffet is approximately double in size of the weekday buffet. I have been here twice now and both times enjoyed fresh, well made food. On both occasions the buffet offered different items. I spoke with an owner who told me that everything is made fresh daily and that dishes always change except for the most popular ones such as tandoor chicken and tikka masala. He further pointed out that even the tandoor chicken changes, sometimes it is bone-in and other times boneless. I was very satisfied both times I have been there and will return. There was a steady stream of diners during my weekend visit on a Sunday. Many customers patronizing appeared to be Nepalese and Bhutanese...a good sign. My weekeday visit did not see as many patrons however I was there as the doors opened at 11:30 am, before the typical lunch crowd would be expected. They have a parking lot. The person in charge has failed in their managerial duties by continuing to operate during an imminent health hazard. A food employee was washing their hands at the three-compartment sink rather than the designated hand-wash sink. Employee had to be prompted to use soap. A log of raw pork blood stored above rice in the three-door cooler. Food tongs hanging from the handle of the oven, risking being contaminated. Potatoes stored directly on the floor in the stairwell rather than 6 inches off the floor as required. Refrigerated, ready-to-eat, time/temperature-control-for-safety food prepared in the food facility and held for more than 24 hours in the three-door cooler and the reach-in cooler is not being date-marked; repeat violation, Feb. 15. Torn rubber door gaskets on the three-door cooling unit. Deeply scored cutting boards not resurfaced or discarded as required. Mechanical warewashing equipment with buildup of filth and food residue and not cleaned before use and frequently throughout the day. Old food residue on six knives and two dicers; repeat violation, June 28, 2022, and Aug. 15, 2023. Old food residue and grime on these items/areas: tables, food containers, condiment containers, pitchers, sides of equipment, on the floor, the two single-burners stoves, under and around the mechanical dishwasher, the outside of bulk food containers, the walk-in cooler door, the mixer, and all handles. This was our second visit to Namaste. The first time was several years ago. We don't live in Lancaster so when we found ourselves back there we decided to go to Namaste again. On our first visit the waiter went above and beyond to help us make our choices and we loved everything we had. This time the waitress was more just an order-taker rather than a helper. My husband and I both chose lamb dishes. His was supposed to be a 6 out of 10 level of spiciness and mine was to be a 3 out of 10. We also had garlic/cheese naan. Although we enjoyed both dishes, his was more of a 2 out of 10 and mine was more like a 7 out of 10. We traded meals halfway through. We had a very solid take-out meal from Namaste Restaurant. We ordered samosa, naan, dal, and aloo gobi. The samosa was crisp on the outside and well-filled with tasty potato goodness. The naan also had a nice crisp and was fluffy on the inside. The dal and aloo gobi both seemed very freshly prepared. I went to this restaurant for the third yesterday and it was horrible. The server was rude and the quality of the food was worst, it was rotten, the food was sour and smelly. The ambience was worst, we were eating and there was a guy vacuuming the place. We asked for tea and they didn't bring in for half hour, our waitress Bhawana was lost, we asked for it to another lady the second time and she brought it in 10 minutes. MY husband and I ate there 4/2/23. We had to move to another table because the suspended ceiling tiles fell while we were sitting at our table. The recent rain soaked them and a waterfall came down. The service was attentive. The overall place needs TLC. The Chana Masala was watery and not spiced as I remember from other restaurants. My husband's opinion was the same of his Mahli Kofta. It seemed the chickpeas in my dish were not drained from the can. The bread basket contained many varieties of bread which almost seemed "deep fried," because they were a little greasy. We ordered: chicken tikka masala, chicken biryani, peanut street noodles, vegetable pakora, samosas, garlic naan, garlic cheese naan. Everything was spot on. SUPER YUMMY!!! Tikka masala was creamy and bold. First time trying biryani, good upgrade from the plain rice. Pakora was huge. Samosa was big and flaky. Naan was really flavorful and huge. Noodles was super tasty. Lots of bold sauce Only improvement I would recommend is to make the entree dishes slightly bigger. Not sure if it was how it was served. But we did expect the chicken tikka masala and biryani to be have a lot more food. The vegetable pakora was surprisingly big. So that's a plus!! Also I wish they had more sauces. This is the best South Asian food I have tasted in Lancaster. Especially during the pandemic, we order take out from here at least once every two weeks. My favorite is the dry gobi munchurian! Was a bit skeptical because the restaurant was attached to a motel but we decided to try it anyways and I am glad we did! Went in about an hour before close with a group of 5 and was met by friendly staff. They brought a complimentary bread that was thin and crispy and had a surprisingly rich/spicy flavor with sauces on the side. We then got an appetizer for the table and I got the bailan bhartha and the veggie momo everything was delicious! The only complaint I had was that the naan wasn't vegan, but the roti was so i was appeased and pleased! read more

The food is DELICIOUS. Sharp flavors, well seasoned beautifully spiced. The food is not bland at all. In fact, it's very craveable. Easily the best Indian in and around Lancaster. Employment liters are very friendly and helpful. My only issue is the portion size relative to cost, especially when ordering takeout. It's expensive food and you don't get very much at all. But the food is so good it's worth it, but I would go quite a bit more if the value was more in line with the quality. Still, I highly recommend this spot! read more

If you are looking for a nice authentic Indian restaurant you must go to namaste. I have been to a handful of Indian restaurants and have enjoyed them all to be honest, but namaste is number one in my book. I have never waited to be seated here. The wait staff is very friendly and attentive. I have never had a bad meal from namaste. I took my wife here and it was instantly a new favorite. The food is so flavorful and I really appreciate that they ask how spicy on a scale of 1-10. The chicken chetinad is amazing. The bread basket woth the mix of different flavor naan is amazing and if you order it you get two baskets with all three varieties. I heard all this hype about himalayan and it was very good but cluttered and annoyingly small and requires reservations. I have gone here multiple times over the course of a year and have yet to try anything that wasn't good. They made a mistake once, forgetting my rice when I picked up my food. I called and they very quickly delivered it to me with a little rice pudding which was delicious. My favorite item is the Samosa Chhole Chate. I would give this place no stars if I could. My wife would phone in a to go order from work. I was supposed to pick up her food at a designated time of 1:30 pm and deliver it to her by 2 pm. They rarely had the order ready on time even though she phoned it in by 11 am. On multiple occasions they hadn't even started preparing the food when I got there. I'll start by saying I really enjoyed the food. Ordered the chicken tikka masala and lamb vindaloo, both DELICIOUS. Flavors were just right, vindloo was a light-medium curry spice, it's got a nice kick. Our server offered a complementary appetizer, so we chose the garlic curry lime chicken...amazing. But what I found odd was that he stood over us waiting for us to write the required Yelp review for the complimentary appetizer. Overall experience was a top 5 for the books. What a total gem this place is. My wife and I were in Lancaster for the day and the combination of the pandemic and lousy weather meant we needed to find food we could eat in the car. This was the PERFECT choice. We shared five dishes, all of them incredibly flavorful and delicious: paneer pakora, the mulligatawny and ginger lemongrass soups, peanut street noodles, and vegetable chow mein. Stay away. Have been looking forward to trying the lunch buffet at this place and arrived on a Saturday around noon. One of the sketchier places we have ever been and I have seen some sketch. I mean we generally felt unsafe entering a parking lot that led to a mammoth run down 1 star hotel with a supposed highly rated Indian restaurant attached to it. Add in the creepy guy at the hotel check in, which is about 5 feet from the "entrance" to the hotel and it's got you feeling like you're in a true crime show. We walk in, try to, the door is kinda broke and instantly smell cigarettes. Gross. There's one table of guests. It looks like a family. They must be starving because otherwise, why? We want to run, but before we do, a woman comes up to us and flatly asks us dine in or take out? And we say, buffet? At the same time I look over to see the ghosts of buffets past setup in the corner. No buffets anymore. I mean it's really for the best, since eating there would have been terrifying and I'm not into scary food. But hey, probably would be a good idea to take down your buffet signs?
