Staying at the Yorktowne Hotel, a staff highly suggested Hamir as a dinner visit. We decided to give it a try. The menu is not extensive but there are plenty of curry choices to select from. They also offer a wide selections of interesting cocktails which is a true winner. The crab curry was delicious, it is completely different than we are used to in NYC. My mom is sensitive to certain spices and Hamir as well as our server Kari were very conscious of this and made adjustments and recommendations. Since it was my first time, the server offered 3 samples of their most popular curries which was very kind! Kari was very attentive despite them being busy. The Crab Puri, Chickpea Salad, and Creamy Butter Chicken were amazing!! We also got Lamb Vindaloo and Chicken Tikka Masala which were great as well. My mom got a whiskey sour and said that was good as well! It was a bit different some other Indian food I've had but it's a fusion place so that was to be expected. This restaurant is the perfect combination of authentic Indian food and a modern fine dining experience. The menu is pricier than other Indian restaurants I've been to, but this is adequately reflected in the quality of the dining experience. The service was attentive and welcoming and the food was presented beautifully. The chef (and likely the owner) came out to greet each table throughout the evening to ensure the meal was to our liking, which I found to be a lovely and heartfelt gesture. The aesthetic presentation of each food item, from our appetizers, to our drinks and desserts, was so thoughtfully and pleasantly curated. A colleague we met for dinner had never tried Indian food before, so she ordered the Thali entree, which includes a variety of sampling options, as shown in the photos. We found this unique menu item to be a wonderful introduction to the vast range of enjoyable Indian dishes. I highly recommend giving this a try to those who are either new to Indian food or those who are feeling indecisive when choosing an entree. One last note: We hadn't realized that the restaurant closed at 9 pm on a Friday night, so we were the last table in the restaurant, which I often adamantly and intentionally avoid. However, the desserts still came out picture-perfect (just after 9 pm). The chef/owner came out, once again, to ask us to please take our time and enjoy them. This type of genuine connection between the one masterfully crafting a dining experience and those who are fortunate enough to enjoy it is something that is not found often and did not go unnoticed. Downtown York can be quite a busy place on a Friday night. Because of this, we started our night early and chose Hamir's for dinner. When we walked in, we were the first ones in for dinner, and were greeted almost immediately, and despite not having a reservation (again... Friday night) we were seated immediately. We were given a sample of the three different Currys that they offered and the only problem I had was deciding which one was the best. I will cut right to the Chase and say this is some of the best food that I have ever had, and I can't even begin to offer enough praise for the service. I felt like I was talking to old friends. Our entrées were amazing, our appetizers were amazing, our dessert was amazing, and our cocktails were not only amazing but extremely original. It is hard to say what the shining star of the evening was... Was it the service or was it the food so I won't pick either I will just say that you will not be disappointed when you eat here. You will not be disappointed when you drink here. I even had the chance to speak with the chef and share my praise with him. What an amazing restaurant... No... What an amazing experience. This place is so good! We were in York for a wedding, and the bride, a local, recommended Hamir's. I made a reservation for 6 on a Saturday night. On Saturday, more family members wanted to go, so I called to change the reservation to 8. No problem! We arrived, were offered samples of some of the curries, and had cocktails. I hate cilantro (hard in an Indian restaurant!) But our server assured me that it was no problem. And it wasn't! I personally had the chicken tikka tacos (a delicious spin on something you think you know), and shrimp with red curry ginger sauce. Absolutely delicious! I love that you can customize that section of the menu. BF had the gorgeous mango custard for dessert. It was delicious but also a work of art! I'd give this place 10 stars if I could! I'm visiting York from San Francisco, CA and spent the previous night looking on Google and Reddit for "must try PA food". This wasn't on the list, but it had such high reviews I had to try it. Walked in on a busy Saturday dinner service without a reservation. They were completely slammed and understaffed, but were adamant they could squeeze us in. We were seated immediately. We ordered a special which came with the crab puri, roasted brussel sprouts, and a samosa--all were DELICIOUS. For entree we had the lamb Tikka masala. 3/5 spicy was a good kick! Kari was our awesome server. We never felt rushed to order or eat, and considering how busy the restaurant was--and being 3 staff members short--she still gave us the phenomenal dining experience you'd get at a fine dining restaurant. All of her suggestions were perfect and we felt so welcomed. We sat further back in the restaurant, and although most diners would probably complain about sitting near the kitchen, we had an awesome time seeing the chefs work their magic through the window. We were so in awe--they were FAST and not one bead of sweat was showing. The art and flow in there couldn't go unnoticed. As we were wrapping up, the main chef peeked through the window and asked how we were doing, and apologized for the wait (which we didn't notice at all -- everything was very timely). It was Hamir himself and it was the icing on the cake for us. Super handsome fellow in a nice dress shirt with not a stain on it. So impressive. Earlier in the night we also saw him step out of the kitchen to take a photo with a group of diners. He didn't look stressed at all, just so happy to offer his talent for others to enjoy. I've been to my share of Michelin-rated restaurants, but this whole experience -- from authenticity of the Indian food, creativity of the fusions, and the top notch service from the ENTIRE staff -- has exceeded 95% of what I've felt in those in bigger foodie cities like Las Vegas and San Francisco. Totals out to $13 for a full meal's worth of food, meanwhile all their entree's are $18+. Hamir's is my favorite restaurant in York PA! I love Indian food and Hamir's does not disappoint. The service is always amazing. The food is always hot and fresh. The flavor is always amazing. Every time I have eaten here, the chef himself always comes out and asks you how everything is. I see him go to each table. Every time! It's so awesome that he does this. I have never been to any other restaurant where the chef visits each guest and asks how everything is. He is always pleasant as are the servers. I hope they never close this restaurant. I would be devastated. Everything on the menu that I have tried has been excellent but my favorite are the samosas and the chole masala (on the dinner menu) and the chat masala (only on the lunch menu--which is the one thing I would change because the chat masala is the chole masala with samosas--I wish it could be ordered for dinner too). I love the experience of dining at Hamir's Indian Fusion. It's conveniently located near a parking garage, but we can often get street parking at the meters right outside. The food is delicious and Hamir can add spice or leave it out. We love the Tandori Chicken and Brussels Sprouts appetizers. We have always had excellent service each time we visit. Been a long time fan of Hamir's. I actually first ate his intriguing Indian fusion when they started from a test kitchen on duke st. Since then Hamir has been dedicated to providing wonderful food full of taste and a variety of spices, as well as excellent service. I can guarantee every time I've eaten here he has personally taken the time to come out and check on his diners. He adds a personal touch and ensures that your meal will be pleasant. Since they've added a bar, the experience has been even greater. The ambiance has always been inviting, and doesn't get too loud with large parties. Hamir's is perfection! To our surprise there is a great cocktail selection and they are expertly prepared. The Samosas are delicious, with a pleasant spice that's hard to describe. Thoughtfully, they offer a sampling of their curries. All of them were amazingly rich, with depth and flavors that you know took hours if not days to prepare. I had the red coconut curry with lamb, which was tender and melted away. The portions were perfect and the naan was delicious. To cap out our experience we ordered chai and desserts. They did not disappoint. The Chai is clearly a perfected family recipe and so flavorful and balanced. I've tried chai at coffee shops and have not liked it, but this was amazing. The consistency of hot chocolate and so savory sweet. My dessert was a special cake with butterscotch and fruit that was so light and fluffy. The ambiance is great! Loved the decor small and intimate! Lettie, our waitress was so kind and gentle and explained perfectly to all the questions I had since it was our first time. The food was Def a 4/5. The lamb was so tender. The issue with the chicken was that it seemed overcooked and dry. The rice didn't have any flavor, no salt or anything, but im assuming its because you mix it with the curry. Rice would not be eaten by itself by me. Once we told lettie we never been, she served us with samplings of the curries, AND you can add spice from 1-5!! The naan that came with the rice was so soft make sure thats dipped in the curry!
