    Dynamite and chopped scallop rolls

This is a cute little sushi joint. I'd recommend it for takeout, especially if you are in a rush. The prices are reasonable and the service is decent. The ingredients are fresh and the food quantifies as authentic Japanese. I ordered the dynamite and chopped scallop rolls. They were well made and flavorful. I will definitely be back for other items on the menu. If you crave sushi and happen to be downtown, this is a great choice!

Solid ramen spot in Nanaimo. Ordered chicken ramen. Broth - rich, savory with a lite saltiness. Noodles - Springy, flavourful and generous portions Toppings - fair amount of fresh fried chicken cutlet Egg - Very yummy ! Perfect yolk. Very busy little establishment but the server was extremely efficient handling the take out orders as well as diners. She made sure to check up on me and refill my tea. Very quick to acknowledge, seat and take order. Overall ramen here is pretty solid and enough to satisfy any ramen cravings in Nanaimo. **visited Oct 9 noon**

    Box A combo with beef

Cute little spot with the friendliest service! We ordered take out on a weekday evening and waited maybe 10-15 minutes max, but we were offered hot tea while we waited since it was so cold out. So nice of the lady! I really appreciated this since being from SF my idea of cold is about 50F not 25F! The food was also ridiculous! HUGE portions at a really good price! We got the Bento box A and B and were pleasantly surprised with how much food we got and how piping hot the miso soup was even though we still had to walk back to our hotel with it. The only thing though is that I wouldn't consider it beef don since there was no rice included. This was a little bit of a miscommunication but I was still overall happy with it and it helped me out with the low carb thing i'm doing for my new years resolution so win-win!

Visited Mon July 11, 2016 for dinner Remember the Thirsty Camel? That place closed and Nana Sushi just opened a few days ago. Wow the food here is amazing and deserves 5 stars! Pro - Spider roll - deep fried soft shell crab, avocado and cucumber. Amazing taste and fresh $13 - The 2 chefs pictured here have worked for over 15 years - House salad - amazing and big enough to share $5.50 Con -The patio is nice, but there are unsavoury 'characters' that walk between downtown along China steps. We were interrupted by someone asking for change and someone swearing on the phone better to sit inside. - Tuna and Salman sashimi - the tuna was still frozen, 8 pieces for $10.25 - Not sure I like the name Playboy roll it sounded offensive and didn't order it. Protip Lion King roll - prawn, cucumber, spicy tuna, spicy salmon - wow this tasted amazing $13 Agedasi tofu - 8 pieces of fluffy deep fried tofu, crispy and flavourful only $3.50 Damage 4 items for only $35 pre-tip

Small portions but delicious, fast and fresh food. It would be nice if they specified which is vegan and gluten free.

We were vacationing on Vancouver Island and came here for dinner when in Nanaimo. We had made…read morereservations a few weeks prior to our trip and I would highly recommend making a reservation if you plan on coming here. The restaurant was packed and the kitchen was hustling. There were so many beautiful and creative dishes passing by our table all night long; if I lived here, this would definitely become one of my regular places to go. The service was quick and friendly. The food was incredible; really fresh and presented beautifully. We had met up with a neighbour who had moved to the area and we ended up staying until the place closed. It was just a lovely evening overall. I would definitely recommend Nori for delicious Japanese cuisine but be sure to make a reservation!

=== 1. VERDICT/VALUE If you've a hankering for Asian…read morecuisine in Nanaimo and there's only one place you could go to, Nori should be one of your top picks! Good food, good service, and in a place with good vibes. === 2. FOOD When dining at lunch, the lunch specials offer incredible value; each option includes 4-piece California roll, small green salad, 2-piece gyoza, 2-piece prawn tempura, a miso soup, and a side dish ("okazu") of the day. Some thoughts: - The portions are decent even if you're hungry! - The prawn tempura (at least today) feel more batter than prawn. - The okazu (at least today) was fried - a fancy spring roll - which is interesting as side dishes in Japan in this context are often fish-based?). - Overall, the food quality is good. Buta Shoga Lunch Special ($22) Shoyu, ginger-marinated pork on rice - a good heart-warming combo as any! Sashimi & Sushi Lunch Special ($23) 6 pieces of sashimi (salmon and tuna) and three pieces of sushi (also salmon and tuna) make this lunch special one of the healthier options on the menu. Chashu Miso Ramen ($18) My little guy loves noodles, even if it comes in piping-hot pork bone broth. Depending on your little one, kids 6 and under in age may need a grown-up to help finish this dish! === 3. SERVICE The place is POPULAR and so be prepared to wait. One the most recent visit during lunch, we were lucky to slide in fairly quickly and the servers were fairly prompt and professional. === 4. ENVIRONMENT It's basic, yet has a modern open-view environment with a view of the bar/kitchen from across the restaurant. It's similar in vibe to its sister restaurant nearby (Horang) but the service is better and diners with small children will find more appealing seating options here. Wheelchairs and baby strollers would fit just fine and your chance at finding a place to park in the shopping complex lot outside is pretty decent!

There wasn't a lineup when we got there, so we were seated right away. Their menu has lots of options of different rolls, udon, sashimi etc. Because it was lunch time, we ordered some bento box. I ordered bento box A with California roll for my daughter, and chicken udon for myself. My hubby ordered some sushi taco, and a Ubuild bento box. The food came pretty slow, which was strange. There wasn't a lot of customers when we got there. The bento boxes were pretty fresh with good portion. The sushi taco was a little yummy, however, the deep fried seaweed is on the greasy side with lots of batter. I was a little disappointed with the chicken udon, it was pretty standard and the chicken was pretty soggy. However, nothing beats a hot bowl of soup in a rainy day. Overall, we still enjoyed our meal. Not sure if I will go back, but I'm glad we got to experience it.

The bun was incredibly fresh, light, and pillowy, while the pork belly was melt-in-your-mouth tender with the perfect balance of richness and tang from the kimchi. The pickled vegetables added a bright crunch that tasted incredibly fresh. We started with the salmon tartare, and it was phenomenal! Rich, buttery, bursting with flavor, and so good we were literally fighting over the last bite. And the scallop? Order one for each person. Seriously. It's far too delicious to share. It had just the right amount of heat, leaving the perfect lingering warmth that immediately made us want another. Do yourself a favor and give yourself enough time to work your way through the menu, because every dish we tried was outstanding. Each plate was thoughtfully curated, beautifully executed, and cooked to perfection. I like to call it the C³ trifecta: curated, created, and cooked. Without question, this is some of the best food we've had in a very long time. We can't wait to come back (when visiting) and continue eating our way through the rest of the menu.
