Disappointed in Noodle box tonight. This location typically does better than most other Noodlebox locations. I've never been disappointed like this before. Tonight was absolute garbage. Who ever was cooking tonight either needs retraining or should be fired. We ordered crispy Shanghai chicken and Pad Thai. Both weren't worth eating. The sole (and minimal) veggie component in each was some over cooked woody broccoli. The Pad Thai had a fried egg that was akin to a burnt flapjack and the noodles so over cooked they were rubber. The Shanghai Chicken was some white rice with chicken and woody broccoli dumped on top. It was gross. My wife says she's done with Noodlebox. Two thumbs down. read more

Noodlebox is good when they get it right, but it's hardly ever the correct order, especially when you order thru DoorDash or Skip. I've had incorrect orders many times before my last order, but this was the final straw for me. My order was a Spicy Peanut Noodle Box with tofu. I'll give you a second to imagine what they forgot to include... It was the Peanut sauce. One of the main ingredients of the PEANUT BOX It's truly amazing. I feel a bit conflicted about leaving a review for a single novelty dessert, but I specifically came here looking for this one-of-a-kind item! And I haven't seen many other people reviewing it either. So here's a review for others like me. If, like me, you were going to Nanaimo and decided to look up the Nanaimo Bar Trail, you may have seen that the Noodlebox here offers a "Nanaimo bar spring roll." What a cool idea, right? I absolutely had to try it, but we'd already had a big breakfast, so my sister and I popped in here for a quite bite just to try the dessert. And they very kindly gave us three of the spring rolls instead of two, which is a plus! Unfortunately, though, the spring roll tasted... basically nothing like a Nanaimo bar. And I know it's a spring roll and it's going to be different, but this was a spring roll filled with banana and a sprinkling of spices. The custard dip was nice and the portion size was good, but there was nothing chocolatey about it at all, and the overwhelming taste of banana made me wonder if they were just taking a banana dessert spring roll and calling it a Nanaimo bar spring roll. So, while this sounded cool on paper, I did end up feeling that, while it was tasty, it wasn't at all what I had been hoping for. Overall the Noodlebox location seems nice and the staff were friendly, so I can't fault them anything else. I do think I'll make a point to return here for lunch next time I'm in Nanaimo, just so I can give the rest of their food a genuine shot - but we were on a wild dessert quest, and sadly, this point on the list didn't really deliver. read more

A lady (most likely the owner) stopped my husband & I before heading to the bathrooms before ordering (we just drove from Tofino and needed a bathroom break). I had full intent on ordering but she told us both bathrooms are out of order, she was rude and felt like she was lying. I ordered an noodlebox and my husband ran across to Starbucks without ordering, he didn't want to support them. Very sad lunch. Tried five menu items. We pretty much never waste food, it's basically a sin for me, but some of these got thrown out after trying to eat them at lunch, and again for dinner at the campground (that's right, camping fare was much better). If you have to eat here, the black bean sauce is at least reminiscent of black beans. This was so far below expectations, it was worse than most of what I've seen at mall food fairs for over 20 years. Tables were filthy -- sticky and accentuated by food bits so dessicated they may have been days old -- and when we asked for a table wipe the cashier actually sprayed three of us with sanitizing spray, then wiped around a bit, leaving most of the mess. I'm hoping she was hungover or something because it's about the worst service I've seen too. Nice interior, lots of potential. In the meantime, go get a samosa from Thrifty's across the street, save $13 not to mention the heartbreak. read more

Interior is well done, modern style and comfortable. Menu has an array of tasty looking things. We got 2 noodle dishes and a side. My dish looked amazing and had fresh veggies and well presented. The taste, however, was surprisingly bland and boring and the added chicken was chewy (clearly boiled ahead of time a... Which might be their thing but it's like hospital chicken). Not bad tasting but not remotely close to what this should taste like. Like someone made a really good dish then turned the flavour dial down to 2. My wife's dish was the same story. So, if you are extremely sensitive to flavour, this might be your heaven. If you are looking for bold, exciting flavors, which South East Asia is famous for, you will be dissaponted. Again, presentation was good, ambiance good, neat array of dishes but i just don't know why they choose to make it so bland. Needless to say, won't be coming back. read more

*Nanaimo- Terminal Location today* My third 'mediocre' experience in a row!! Hmmmm....have to compare. Victoria locations versus Terminal and Metral locations in Nanaimo. My 'go to' Noodlebox has always been the Blackbean & Garlic box with Chicken. What my wife and I both ended up with today at the Nanaimo Terminal location was noodles, vegetables and chicken in a soup of sauce.....Everything was just souped in sauce. It was hard to tell what was chicken and what was vegetables. Didn't get that 'fresh food' feeling. This is NOT the norm. The chicken was aweful. Tasted like leftover turkey dinner meat. Do they not cook the chicken fresh anymore? Not sure but not today anyway. I managed to eat a 1/4 of mIne before stopping and my wife had two bites before stopping. Sad. Hopefully this is just a bad food encounter and that not all locations have gone this way. I'd like to give them one more chance but some time will have to pass before I step foot in any Noodlebox location again. read more

Extremely disappointed. Ordered 2 of peanut thai. 1 with no cilantro, no peppers mild/medium and the other, extra cilantro and extra peppers medium/hot. Both were drier than a popcorn fart and medium/hot had same heat as mild/medium. The quality of this place had gone downhill so bad, we will never be back. read more

This review is for the new location off Metral Dr, there isn't a page for it yet. I ate here twice, on Thursday and Saturday. My experience on Thursday was very good. Take out Pad Thai with a couple eggs. Spicy, still very warm when I got home 20 minutes later, and delicious flavours. Following that I was very excited to return to eat in with a friend today and, wow, was it a disappointment. I got the plum box with chicken and he got the teriyaki with chicken and beef. I would like to note that we ordered at the same time. My friend's food came not quite 10 minutes later, while I had to wait almost another 15 minutes after that for mine... which was brought to me in a to-go box. I specified my order was for here and I double checked with my friend if I misspoke but I didn't. Not a huge deal except it for some reason took another 5 minutes to put it in a bowl. I wouldn't be upset if the food I finally got was good. But what I got was barely edible. Room temperature, cold in some spots. Clearly under-cooked with some of the Chow Mein noodles still stuck together. Big pieces of raw onion. Tasteless bits of chicken. Way way way too many veggies on top. As if the dish needed to be colder. I ordered it medium spicy and this was so bland you couldn't even call it mild. I can forgive delays when it's busy but I can't forgive being sold a cold bowl of shit. I will not be back for a few months at least. I hope the new Metral location can learn some form of quality control. read more

Our experience at Noodlebox was disappointing to say the least. We went to what seemed like a nice noodle place for dinner, only to be met with disappointment. The zuccini noodles were mushy, and all the sauces were salty and overpowering. None of the four of us were able to finish our meals. i really like the idea of this place, but always feel like my noodles are missing something! usually have to add a lot of sauce before i am satisfied, but i wish i could just order and be able to enjoy what i am given. maybe it's just me! i also don't really like the atmosphere or general smell of the place. they also seem to skimp a bit on veg, even if you pay extra to get more. but! i do like that their ingredients usually seem fairly fresh, and there are plenty of vegan options. not the best , not the worst read more

Ordered vegetarian with tofu, and got chicken in my bowl. No apologizes from staff, and all they did was take the chicken out a throw some raw tofu chunks in. Terrible service, expensive food for what it is, and not vegetarian friendly. I will never return! read more
