The venue is delightfully intimate and cozy, offering lovely private seating options and a wonderfully inviting ambiance. Their offerings are quite well-rounded, featuring everything from great coffee and fine wines to an impressive selection of craft beverages. The hospitality was exceptional from start to finish the team, from the kitchen staff to the servers, was remarkably warm, welcoming, and genuinely hospitable. It felt like true, classic American warmth at its finest! For my luncheon, I selected the small Smokey Pig Pizza paired with a crisp Coca-Cola. When the pizza arrived, it was an absolute triumph boasting rich, complex flavors and a perfectly crafted crust. It was a complete hit in every respect! Solid pizza place in Downtown Ruston -- nice rustic ambiance and attentive service. My friend and I ordered the smokey pig and pickle pizza. Both were delicious and unique. I asked to have white sauce drizzled on the smokey pig pizza and it was a great addition due to it being a creamy bbq based sauce per our friendly server. My wife found this place online as we were driving through Ruston. The hostess offered a table inside or outside. We opted for outside. She handed me 2 menus and pointed to the back door. We went out, but the tables were all covered with zipped up pads. So, we went back to the front. "I guess they haven't uncovered the tables, yet. Sit anywhere inside." We ordered a pesto pizza and 2 salads-Caesar and Apple Walnut Gorgonzola w/blue cheese dressing. The pizza was promptly delivered. After a few minutes we asked about the salads and, finally, received them. My Caesar was very good, but had a lot of black pepper- not everyone's preference. My wife found her salad inedible. The blue cheese dressing was very spicey. It did not look like blue cheese, because it had a distinct pinkish tint from whatever heat was inadvisedly added. Our server was pleasant, but inattentive. I was never offered a second beer and my wife had to ask for a refill of her Diet Coke. I don't know how long Utility has been in business, but looks like it's in serious need of a manager who can train the front end employees. read more

Beer was good. Didn't have what they said online. Food was good. Staff wasn't great. Too busy talking and socializing with each other so we ended up waiting 10 minutes for no reason. Had to finally interrupt the hostess and waitress and ask if we could get one of the dirty tables cleaned so we could actually sit down and order. Place is not very big. So they could see tables were leaving, they just were too busy gossiping. Overall not a great experience for just ok food and beer. read more

American Dream pizza is the best bbq I've ever had and I've been to a lot of places. The white sauce was genius allowing for the pizza to be creamy and enjoyable. I love the salad with apples is my fav but the Caesar was good too. Not a big fan of their drinks. read more

We were the first customers of the day. For some reason, there were quite a few flies in the building this day. One of the workers tried to shoo some of them out the door. We ordered the cheese bread as an appetizer and each got the lunch combo Vienna salad (no tomatoes) with the classic pepperoni pizza. The crust on the cheese bread was burnt. We ate it anyway and tried to pick off the really burnt parts. The crust on the pepperoni pizzas was much better. The pizzas were sliced really unevenly, and the Vienna salads came without cranberries (we were not told about this). We've definitely had better experiences here with food. Utility Brewing Company is a great little brewery in downtown Ruston. They have the cutest outdoor patio area and they're currently allowing to-go draft beers! If you're hungry, I really enjoyed their American Dream pizza, which is loaded with brisket from a local joint. Many people raved to me about their Pepperoni pizza and I was far from impressed with that, especially for $10. You can't go wrong with their beers. Overall, I would definitely recommend Utility. First time trying this downtown spot in Ruston. LOVE the space. Cool brick walls with a very rustic feel. They will actually pour the beer and then can it on site "to go" which is a pretty neat trick to watch. I wish I loved beer! We sat at the bar and probably had about an 8 minute wait until we were acknowledged. Hubs ordered an Old Fashioned and loved it. But here comes the food review and most important notes! We started off with the Brussels for an app - mushy! They come in a bowl and are blanched/boiled but then not crisped with the glaze and bacon bits on top as I was expecting. I was surprised! Could only eat a few bites...if your mom cooked them boiled as a kid, this is the consistency you can expect from them. Caesar salad was bland...there was not a lot of pepper in the house made dressing, and honestly, once I added salt&pepper to it, that bumped it up a level. Croutons were a bit stale but had a great flavor. We ordered the Downtown pizza...my notes about the crust are it is very oily. The toppings were all ok, but the crust itself was a little on the chewy side and not a light fluffy crust that I was hoping for. The menu states they use Italian Caputo 00 flour, and that they allow two days for the fermentation process. So I'm not a professional dough maker, but reading that gave me a pretty high expectation that would be comparable to other places where we've traveled and dined. The great listed reviews has to be family and friends of the owner... party of 17: I called before heading that way. was told 35 minute wait. Once arrival Caden H. the on duty manager definitely didn't want to host my party. He offered us the outdoor seating and only the outdoor seating. Yet Caden H. had 10 plus unattended tables on the left side of the business, but only wanted this party to be seated at the tables located outside. Caden H. actually looked me in the face and said he had no staff to host me on the left side yet he had staff that could host me outside. We decided to take our party elsewhere. read more

Walked in with a party of 17 after calling ahead. For some reason after we get to the location, they have one side closed off and no other open tables. They come to inform us that they can only seat us outside (during a 90 degree humid day in Louisiana). Since we have two elderly women, we request if we can be seated inside instead. The host tells us he can only seat us outside for some odd reason (perhaps our skin complexion). We ask why can't we sit inside with the open tables and he says that they don't have enough servers. That would make sense if they didn't already agree to host our party. What would be the difference in service if our party sat inside rather than outside? Be forewarned: you are going to hear me say "cool" a lot. Utility is owned by three cool guys -- who just get it. The vibe is perfect -- even better after the expansion. I love how they steered away from having televisions in the restaurant, because they wanted to encourage conversation! The way this restaurant started by a group of friends who loved brewing beer is cool, and I was thrilled they added that passion to the menu. The beer is tasty, and the cocktails are fun, hip, while being traditional. The pizza is wonderful, and my personal favorite is the American Dream; first timers -- order it. Trust me. Also, I really loved the idea of "Pizza of the Month," which will feature collaborations with other local businesses; that strikes a wonderful chord with me as being a Rustonite. This place is awesome! Definitely unique to the Ruston area and something everyone should try. They have great pizzas, salads, and beer! We had the Pepperoni pizza, Downtown, and the Pineapple Pie and I would recommend all three. We tried several beers and all of them were excellent. I would suggest getting a flight so you can sample a few different ones. I'm not one to pick Red Ale but it was surprisingly delicious. If you're in town you need to make a stop. I understand that restaurants are trying their best during a global pandemic but I think I would have gotten better service at a McDonald's. First they sat the 8 of us at a table meant for 4 people, my friend called two weeks in advance to make a reservation ( they told her they don't ) Why would they even tell my friend that they'll have room for us if they really didn't? It was her birthday dinner so we sucked it up and took what they gave us. It took forever for our waiter to even take our drink orders, let alone take our actual order. Not only that, but our drinks took too long. He was very friendly and sweet but slow, first time maybe? Our food came quickly, I'll say that but we ordered two apps. One came before our main course and the other after, I thought appetizers came before the meal? The pizza wasn't worth the wait at all, to me it tasted like rubber. I will say the cheese bread was pretty good and tasty, their only saving grace. Went to dinner here a few weeks ago as my bf said it was something he knew I would like and the beer is local which is also a plus for me to try out when in town! It was great, really reminded me of a local pizza place called Pagliacci's at home! We got the Cheese bread and each got our own individual pizzas and drinks.
