This is a review for the one on Willow Glen.. Service was absolutely terrible. I was only in town for a week, and stopped in here. The bartender acted like he couldn't understand me, and everyone I talked to was extremely indifferent and was walking away as I was asking for my drink.. they allowed us to sit at the bar for at least 15 minutes before even acknowledging our presence. I was actually going to order food, but when I saw how shitty, the waitstaff was we just had a drink and left.. Extremely terrible service. I would not recommend anyone go to this place.. everyone was super weird and super rude.. read more

Normally, I like the food at el Jarrito, but first they tried to give me the wrong order, so I had to wait a bit. When I got home it was almost right, but missing the guacamole, my favorite part! This place was surprisingly good. We stopped by on our way to Texas and got the Santa Fe Chicken, Carne Asada, and Camarones a la Diabla (spicy shrimp). The portions were huge and everything was delicious, even the refried and black beans. Jealous of the locals. read more

I understand that I'm not going to find truly authentic Mexican food in the middle of upstate Louisiana, but I would expect to find halfway decent human beans running the restaurants who understand basic customer service. I placed an order on Christmas Eve for takeout for my entire family eight different people were ordering food while I was on the phone and the woman I spoke to was doing perfectly fine even though it was getting more complicated by the minute which I continue to apologize for, she explained that she understood and that was not her first time taking a big phone order and it being complicated. I then paused for about five seconds when another woman came on the phone and said, do you need another minute to place your order or are you ready now? I replied just one minute, and the next thing I know I was hung up on, now any other day of the year in any other place of the world I would've gone somewhere else, but being in Ruston Louisiana where everything closes early and especially on Christmas Eve when the sidewalk is rolled up at 5 o'clock my options were limited. I called back with the same woman who hung up on me, asking me to repeat my entire order, which was not ideal And I explained that I had already given my order. She said we need the computer you'll have to start over if you want the food. I said OK, and I repeated the entire order to her again, except this time was greeted by every bit of attitude and sassy, sarcasm, passive aggressive, comment she could work in to that conversation, I bet my tongue. I was told to arrive in 30 minutes which I did, and when I was going through the food, I realized that this food was old. It was in our order. They tied up bags thinking that I wouldn't notice that they were trying to give me food from other peoples plates! Yes, you read that correctly when I noticed and gave it back to them they took it away before I could take pictures of the half eaten burrito and the chicken strip that had a bite mark they said that they don't understand what I was talking about, and asked me to leave. My parents are friends with one of the chief health inspectors for Lincoln Parish, of which I will be reaching out to after the holidays but in the meantime, I highly recommend that you do not go to this restaurant this is not my first time in this establishment. In fact, I watched it get built from the hotel next-door as I visit my family often, there is always something wrong with the order with the service with the atmosphere. It is by far one of the worst places I have ever been to ever do not eat here!! read more

I ordered a margarita. After ordering they came back with my margarita and a straw already inside the drink. I thought it was odd at first but i wanted my drink so I drank it. When I did almost swallowed a bug. I spat it out and I told them. Turns out they have a bunch of straws in the back in a small bowl with no coverings, so I had been given a straw with no coverings, it was the worst experience of my life. The sad part was they didn't offer to replace my drink or nothing. My server asked me if he could change the straw and that was it. He didn't try anything else to help me. I'll start out by saying lol cause this place a joke. Me and my girl been coming here for a while now and we never know why we go back. The best thing about it is the chips and salsa and they charge you for that. These people nikle and dime you for everything. I had a cheese enchilada dinner and my wife had a kids quesadilla with no sides. We got one coke to drink and a water. So why my food 35 dollars? It wadnt even good. Best tasting Mexican food I've ever eaten. This establishment would make a killing in Lake Charles. You know a Mexican restaurant is good when the salsa is good, and their salsa is GREAT! The Queso is fantastic. The servers are great. The owner is a great guy and works there as well. 2 for 1 beers with frozen mugs was great. I had steak tacos and they were amazing. I really enjoyed my food a El Jarrito's tonight. I ordered the Molcajete and it was delish! Even one person sitting close asked what I was having because it looks so good. We had a time finding the restaurant at first because we are from out of town and Google Maps took us to the old location. You really should get with Google and update your location to make it easier for others to find you. If it wasn't for the hotel management giving us an idea where you were at we would have never found you. I really enjoyed the environment, the service was good, and the music was great. Usually when I go to a Mexican restaurant you hear the old Ranchero type music and they had more urban new Latin music playing throughout the time we were there and enjoyed it more. The chips and salsa was also very good and I couldn't stop eating them. The water from the tap was good too. The waiter even joked with us and he said that he would get us some nice fresh water from Mexico which we all thought was funny. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the mood for Mexican. It is right across the road from the Log Cabin Restaurant. Just look for all the neon lights. I believe they are building a new location that is close to the interstate that looks to be a really nice building. If the food is always this good you can't go wrong. read more

Very pleased with the food and the customer service! I pick up food here regularly for me and my co-workers. Today I picked up our food as usual and when I got back to work I realized that part of the order was missing.(My Part) I called the store and explained the situation and was treated with respect. Upon arriving back at the restaurant to get the rest of my order, I was met at the counter with not only my order but also extra food and a full refund for the portion that was over looked. OK, we are from out-of-the-area and this place was recommended. We got food to go, which was a big mistake! My mom got steak fajitas for ONE and we were charged for two (I was paying and she was already in the car so we didn't realize the overcharge until home.) I got 2 cheese enchiladas with green sauce but when I opened them (at home) there was no sauce whatsoever, so they were dry as a bone. In addition, the steak was tough and the fajitas (for "two") contained only enough fixings for one! Only 3 tortillas. Enough for one but charged for 2. We are too far away to drive back, and VERY disappointed. Don't go here! read more

I come here often and I ALWAYS get chicken Tamales! I go in today to order my regular chicken tamales and Fabian tells me they only serve beef or pork Tamales. I've had chicken or so I thought it was chicken many times and it's mind blowing how I tell my waiter each time I order that I don't eat beef or pork (religious reasons) and specify chicken every time. I simply tell the owner to tell his waiters they don't serve chicken tamales and the owner goes on to say only family works for the establishment. Keep in mind this is a Mexican restaurant so everyone who works here is supposedly Mexican.... my waiter was a caucasian male. Anyway, the owner seemed to be very apologetic and told me they can make things special to order and that's nice but honestly they will probably never see me again. I just can't get over the fact that I've been consuming pork or beef each time I have ate here! I'm grossed out and I'm afraid to eat here again.
