I'm writing this review because today a delivery guy told me my package was too heavy for me to carry... and I picked it up like it was nothing. Old me would have absolutely never. That moment genuinely shocked me and immediately made me think of Nancy. Before training with her, I had barely worked out and was very intimidated by the gym. I'm also a very anxious person, and Nancy has been incredibly patient, supportive, and thoughtful from day one. She doesn't just tell you what to do. She explains why, which makes everything feel less overwhelming and a lot more doable. Since working with her, I've built real strength, learned proper form, and become consistent in a way I never thought I could be. What really sets her apart though is that her support goes far beyond workouts. She's helped me with sleep, eating habits, recovery, mental health, and overall mindset, and she approaches all of it with care, intelligence, and zero judgment. Training with Nancy twice a week has been life changing. Not only is Nancy incredibly knowledgeable at what she does, but her beaming personality makes training joyful and something I truly look forward to. Nancy is awesome! I've been working out with her twice a week for the last few months and I am feeling STRONG! I'm not very comfortable in the gym but she takes the lead and helps me sink in. She's super knowledgeable and answers questions comprehensively. She's also fun and funny! I have recommended two more friends to Nancy and they've both loved working with her. The Wonderful Nancy Brown has been my trainer for the last 3 months and it's been great through and through. During our first session, she asked me a lot of questions and took notes, really listening to my goals - more muscle and less fat without any change in weight. In addition to developing my workout regimen, she introduced me to the concept of tracking my macros for eating. This allowed me to really examine the balance of protein/carbs/fats in my diet, and learn that I had actually not been eating enough! Our sessions 2-3 times/week are the just right degree of challenging and very much tailored to my specific body. She has a deep knowledge of the functionality of the body and knows how to communicate very specific adjustments to my form whenever an exercise is more difficult or uncomfortable that it needs to be. Overall, I have grown steadily stronger and started to see muscle tone emerging right around the 2-month mark, exactly as she said it would. I really appreciate Nancy's thoughtful and deliberate approach which is leading to results in what feels like a healthy manner. Can't recommend her enough! read more

I have been working with Nancy twice per week for a about a year. I wanted to work with a female trainer and had a clear goal of adding 3-5 pounds of lean tissue to my body within a 1-year period. I had done resistance training with smaller weights at home for years, but had never joined a gym or lifted larger weights. Nancy spent about an hour listening to my history and goals and then introduced me to the gym with a program that aligned with them. As a trainer Nancy has a lot of expertise in all aspects of the body. She is body positive, and understands the way systems of the body interact. She is also psychologically minded and insightful, which is an aspect of resistance training that is under-appreciated, particularly for women. I highly recommend her as a trainer. I've been working with Nancy for about 6 weeks now, and I am so grateful that I found her. We've been doing virtual trainings and I have been so pleased with the efficacy and convenience during these times. I just wish I was introduced to her sooner! Notably, I have a complicated history with body image and exercise and old injuries, and I came to realize that I needed more support in getting fulfilling movement. I've been working with Nancy for a little over a year now, and working with her is truly one of the best investments I've made to date. It's one thing to find someone who can write you a program and watch you lift once a week, but it's another to find someone who is genuinely SO passionate about everything regarding how the body works, and will research movements/breathing patterns specific to improving YOUR body. I really feel that I've hit the jackpot with Nancy when it comes to personal training - she feels more like a friend, but is stern when she needs to be (which is needed to push you to your potential!). I am so grateful to have Nancy's help and I'm feeling strong in my body for the first time in a very long time. I've had a long, complicated relationship with working out and have a history of disordered eating and exercise as a means to make myself smaller. Nancy has been a huge help in getting me out of my head and into my body. I've been training with Nancy twice a week for the past 5 months and I can happily say that I have become stronger in body and in mind, and also, my butt looks amazing. Nancy doesn't shy away from heavy weights. I had NO IDEA I could pick up as much weight as I can now. I'm pretty sure I could now carry an average sized woman out of a burning building if I had to. Just a guess. I have definitely noticed a new ease in taking out the trash and putting my carry on in the overhead bin. My partner remarked today how firm my body is now, and did I mention how great my butt looks!? Training with Nancy has not only yielded physical results. I've only known Nancy for 8 months, but she unquestionably has changed my life in a short period of time. Structural and alignment issues have made it hard for me to do certain exercises, so I've steered clear of them forever. Nancy has changed that. Rather than create workouts to tip toe around the things that I can't or won't do, we face those challenges head on--and make them happen. I went from someone who can barely squat, to someone who can squat close to the floor holding a weight. I went from someone who couldn't do a deadlift, to deadlifting over 50 lbs. in a relatively short period of time. I've slowly started to master the things that I thought I couldn't do, and I can't wait to keep working with Nancy and exceed goals that I've never thought were even possible. What I love about Nancy is that she is such a sensitive observer. She thinks holistically about what your body is doing. I was surprised that she was so interested in my breathing. Turns out, a lot of my superficial frustration with my body (why couldn't my waist get smaller?) had to do with everyday movement patterns, not just the strength of my abdominal muscles. Nancy is awesome!!!! I had put on weight over a number of years and was finding it harder and harder to shed the pounds. Turns out I had been making the typical mistakes most women make when trying to loose weight. Cutting calories and going hard with the cardio but no strength training. The result is you end up needing fewer and fewer calories just to stay the same weight as your muscle mass drops under the calorie deficit. When inevitably you slack off (busy at work / vacation) the weight comes back big time. However when I started training with Nancy I actually got to eat more (of the right food) and still shed pounds and build muscle. She knows a TONE about this stuff as she is a Certified Personal Trainer with the National Strength and Conditioning Association and is also a powerlifter and former bikini competitor. Her enthusiasm was so motivating and sessions with her had me progressing quickly whilst perfecting my form. The resulting changes were awesome, I shed pounds in all the right places whilst maintaining and building shape in my arms and booty! The workouts were challenging but never overwhelming and we always had a laugh at the same time. I learnt so much and now have the confidence to walk into a weights rooms and train with all the dudes on my own. Can't recommend her enough, especially if you have been hesitant to get into lifting weights, was the best thing I have done for my health and wellbeing, not to mention figure, in years! read more

Nancy rules! I have years of experience both working out and training others, so it is often difficult for me to take instruction. Nancy is not only incredibly knowledgable but patient yet assertive. My experience is that she manages to get maximum effort out of me even when I don't think I'm capable. That's really the mark of a great trainer. As a result, I've put 25 pounds on my front squat and 15 pounds on my benchpress in just 4 weeks. I really can't recommend her highly enough. Go train with Nancy! I am so glad I did -- she transformed both my body and my mindset. I wanted to get stronger, but knew nothing about lifting weights and thought it was boring. Nancy changed all that. She challenged me to lift weights that were WAY heavier than I ever thought I could lift, and showed me how strong I can be. Her training sessions are hard -- she will get you to do more than you think you can! -- but she's also so smart and fun to talk with, I always looked forward to my workout. Nancy is fantastic at explaining the movements and mechanics, which as someone totally new to lifting weights I really appreciated, and she gives lots of patient feedback so you can correct your form (I'm still working on the perfect pushup :). Nancy is the best. Seriously. I was afraid of training and afraid of lifting weights because I thought I was too weak and physically compromised from a prior injury. Nancy has proved me wrong. She is a badass powerlifter, but she takes a very intellectual, thoughtful, informed approach to strength training. I trust her completely to get me strong while not letting me injure myself. She does not let me get away with any crap ("that was hard, so you just gave up?") but she's very attuned to my body and how I'm doing, and she's extremely motivating. I'm stronger than I've ever been in my life after 2 months of twice-weekly sessions with Nancy, and my hour with her, even though she is totally kicking my ass, is my favorite part of the days I see her. This is the best investment I've made in myself, not just from a physical standpoint, but because my time with Nancy gives me emotional strength and courage. It sounds like a little crazy, but being able to lift so much physical weight is helping me with some emotional heavy lifting I'm doing right now. I cannot recommend Nancy enough. I am thrilled that I started training with Nancy! I've struggled with fatigue for years, knowing physical activity could help, but my gym membership sat unused. I have been training with Nancy for the past two months. For years, I had been fearful about working with a personal trainer again after a few bad experiences. I have a history of eating disorders as well as multiple chronic illnesses that affect my life in various ways and at times, my physical capabilities. I was fearful that a personal trainer would make comments that would be triggering for someone with a history of eating disorders, or be impatient and lack an understanding about my limitations due to chronic illnesses, as has happened in the past. Nancy has proven to be the exact opposite. She is warm and understanding and focuses on getting stronger and meeting personal goals rather than focusing on the scale. She even did extensive research about my health conditions and learned how to modify and adapt my training program to best fit my needs and keep me in good health while still challenging me and helping me meet my goals. I am in awe of her warmth, compassion, and encouragement. Today I dead lifted 90 lbs! I never dreamed I could feel so strong and safe in my body.
