That made me feel so special. The trainers were sure to respect and be mindful of what could seemingly be small details but were important me. That for me is priceless! She created a routine for me that specifically targets my goals (building strength, increasing mobility, and toning my 50+-yr-old body with its issues post-baby, post-surgery, post-chemo, etc.). It's been almost a year now since I started working with Victoria at Personal Training on 6th avenue. Victoria is a skilled trainer and coach - and helped me get back into fitness and a healthier lifestyle. I was attracted to Very Personal Training because of their holistic approach to fitness. Earlier this year I rock bottom. I was feeling fat, tired, ugly and most of all weak. A tumble that bashed up my knees was the final straw and within a couple of hours I was on the phone to Dani and has paid for my first 10 sessions. It was a terrifying first step and I was so nervous about my first session and the commitment I had made by paying. I can honestly say it's the best thing I have done this year. It's sweaty exhausting and sometimes painful but the payoff is worth it. The trainers are warm, intuitive and really experienced. They push me but not to the point of no return. They explain everything, keep me focuses and encourage me when I need help to keep going. It's a big expense but my priority is ME - before anything else in my life. I have a long journey ahead and it's overwhelming to look at the big picture but each session here gets me that bit closer! read more

I just want to post an update on VPT since it's been about a year since I wrote my original review. A LOT has happened over the last 12+ months. Dani has added a couple of carefully selected trainers to her roster who I have had the pleasure to work with. As a result, VPT now also offers early morning, late evening, as well as some weekend appointments which is fabulous. So there are no more excuses about not being able to fit personal training into your busy schedule! Since December, I've been working with Talie and she is spectacular. She's extremely knowledgeable, attentive, fun to work with and has helped me significantly improve my level of fitness. I've gone from being a spaz on the spin bike, to confidently doing major climbs. The strength training workouts are extremely varied so you won't get bored. I'm able to do things I never thought I'd be doing a year ago. Around May or so, I also started working with Leslie, Dani's yoga instructor, and she is also awesome. It sounds hokey, but I've grown so much mentally and spiritually as the result of our yoga practice. Prior to practicing with Leslie, I had never even tried yoga before, but now I could not imagine my life without it. It's a great compliment to strength and cardio training and has helped me with stress management. If I could give VPT 10 stars, I would. Over the last year my fitness level has improved drastically and my confidence in myself & my abilities has grown exponentially. It's a worthwhile investment in yourself. Very Personal Training has truly been a godsend for me. Before I joined I was in a place where I felt very unmotivated to work out, and even though I had worked out extensively in the past in a variety of fashions, I just could not bring myself to the gym. I was very out of shape and the amount of work I had ahead of me felt insurmountable. Cue VPT... I first discovered VPT in September, but I didn't get around to actually signing up until December. I did one-on-one training with personal trainer Zainab for about three months. I had no experience prior to this with personal training, though I was working out pretty regularly. I came to Very Personal Training more for technique, better awareness of what to do in the gym to get an effective workout, etc. I had 10 one-hour sessions with Zainab, and it was a blast! She is such a kind soul - gentle in personality but a pusher in making you work hard! That's what it's all about. I've been going to Very Personal Training since September and working out with Jana. Jana is great - she has helped me get stronger (I can almost do a push-up!) and more invested in my health. This place is great. I hate working out, and freeze up at the gym not knowing what to do. Having one-on-one educated assistance and encouragement was exactly what I was looking for. The space is small an intimate - welcoming. I worked with Talie and Marlene, they played well off each other in different areas. Marlene kills you with smiles while she doesn't let you get away with cheating at all - tough love. Talie is wonderful on explaining why certain things are important and the mechanics behind what she recommends. The only reason I didn't give a 5 stars is because I felt the website and login were buggy and sometimes communication with the owner was tough, but easily sidestepped by the constant motivation and assistance from the trainers. read more

Here's the thing about losing weight - it's hard. Here's the thing about Dani - she gets it. We're not just talking about the standard calories in/calories burned kind of thinking. She works WITH you. She wants to know about your goals - and not just the ones on the scales. She makes you feel comfortable and confident to tell the truth about how you HONESTLY think about your body and how you WANT to think about your body. I've really enjoyed working out at VP! I've been working with Jana who is great. I definitely feel a lot stronger and I've learned some new exercises to use in my personal workouts. I would definitely recommend very personal. My only complaints are that I signed up for the membership that includes twice weekly sessions, however, depending how the billing cycle falls sometimes I don't actually get twice weekly sessions and I will have to either forego a session or purchase an extra. They should realky advertise it as 8 sessions per month, not two per week, because that's what it actually is. Additionally, I feel they could have more equipment, heavier weights, etc. You can do a lot there but if you're more advanced in your exercise routine and strength this place has its limitations. Overall I've been very happy though, have seen good results and would definitely recommend Jana. read more

I've been going to Dani for a little over a month now, I used to dread the 8am work out time but now completely look forward to every appt I have with her. About 14 months ago I finally made the decision to hire a personal trainer and I could not be happier!! It is the best decision I have ever made. Very Personal Training is a special place with a thoughtful, skilled team. I was originally searching for friendly folks who would help me to get back into shape in a reasonable manner. Prior experiences with small gyms led me to set very simple aspirations: I didn't want to dread the sessions, and I wanted to be able to move the day after a workout. What I have found is so much more. VPT is truly a wellness studio. The goals I've set are focused on strength, stamina, posture and body composition, and I actually look forward to going! Where to begin... I've only just starting working with Dani, and already feel like she has had such a huge impact on my life. I've suffered from low self-esteem most of my life, and she has already helped me immensely! She understands where I'm coming from, and has been much like a mentor to me. I'd been taking yoga classes for six months but really wanted to work on my cardio and strength training to improve my practice.
