Buffet is pretty good. Other menu items can be very good. One of the very few places that serves healthier chinese food (no msgs).

Nancy Chang is one of the best Chinese restaurants ever found in Worcester, MA, which has been offering for years top-notch healthy Asian and specialty cuisines. On top of the regular Chinese and vegetarian dishes we can normally order elsewhere, you can also find both Malaysian and Thai dishes on the menu of which they can be all Diabetic and/or Gluten Free. It is a very pleasant experience to dine in a decent and grand restaurant like this with a very warm and friendly team of hostesses, waitresses leaded by a star manageress with lots of parking space. Their Pu Pu Platter, Beef Teriyaki, Coconut Shrimp, Fried calamari, Peking and/or Chicken Ravioli, Scallion Pie and etc. are the best appetizers I have ever eaten in a Chinese restaurant in the Worcester county. All the salads and veggies are very fresh and fulfilling especially when pairing with their freshly made roast duck, seafood (especially shrimp and fish) or any kind of meat you can order there. The food was good but the service was terrible, the worst I've experienced in a very long time. The waitress was slow for everything (beverages, the check, boxes for the leftovers). She brought an item I did not even order. She said the restaurant does not prepare the item I actually ordered (spicy szchechuan shrimp and scallops). My fiancé and I went to Nancy Changs last Tuesday night and I have to say our experience was fantastic as always so I finally decided to give a shout out! We frequently visit Nancy Chang and the food is excellent. Great menu options: vegan, gluten free, and diabetic. I love the healthy options they offer as well. Best part, it is all NO MSG!!! My favorite dish is the mango chicken which is perfectly prepared, sautéed green and red peppers, onions, mango slices, and chicken in some sort of mango sauce which is to die for. The menu is endless, so we try to order something new every time. I noticed they have added some new things to the menu like ice cream, the coconut was amazing. The buffet is also great! As far as the staff goes, our waitress was wonderful, best service! Anything we needed she took care of. She was so pleasant and seemed to know the menu very well. In fact, we always have great service when we dine here. It was my fiancé's birthday and the waitress delivered us a delicious cake bomb (as they called it) which was so good, and it was complimentary! The bartenders are also awesome, they make excellent mai tais and are always friendly and entertaining. The restaurant is always clean and neat. The prices are so reasonable our bill is usually around $50.00 for dinner and two rounds of drinks! This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in the area. I tend to find one or two dishes I like and stick with them, and after trying my usuals (General Tso's and Veggie Lo Mein) I find it very hard to eat at most other local Chinese restaurants. The General Tso's has a fantastic tangy sauce and quality chicken meat, and is not at all slimy like other nearby restaurants. The veggie lo mein and fried rice are very "light" and don't feel heavy or oily like at other places. A plus for me is that Nancy Chang's realizes that mushrooms are a fungus and not a vegetable and thus leaves them out of those dishes. The buffet can be a bit pricey for dinner, but the price is perfect for lunch and has the same offerings. The lunch combo plates are a great value, and when I'm doing a lunch takeout I have really enjoyed their spinach wonton soup and orange chicken. I have several friends who have food restrictions, and Nancy Chang's is great about meeting their needs. They have both gluten free and vegan offerings which have elicited positive comments from my friends. The wait staff is a little mixed, so your experience may depend on which waiter you get. Some of the newbies take a while to learn the ropes, but the experienced waitstaff are friendly and responsive. One waitress (Suzy) began to recognize me after a few visits and never fails to make me feel welcome, even when she's not waiting on my table. My last plus: they carry Pepsi products. Usually great service but I was really disappointed today. I always get the gluten free chicken fried rice. I placed my order online like I always do but today they somehow didn't get it! I thought ohh that's weird but fine it's already pre-made and won't take long got it and left. Which was around 1:00pm. Now it's dinner time I open my food take a bit and its regular chicken fried rice....! If I had an allergy this would have been a huge problem!!!!! The container is even stamped gluten free!! I recently went to Nancy Chang's to pick up a "to-go" order for my family for Mother's Day. The food was fabulous per usual; however the woman at the "to-go" counter was EXTREMELY rude. As a hostess, I would NEVER treat customers the way she did. I picked up the order May 12 2018 at about 7:30PM, and she was the older woman working (the other two young ladies were either in high school or college and were very welcoming). When I walked in to pick up my order, the older woman looked up and said "what?" and rolled her eyes at me. I would not even THINK to do this to a customer. Granted, I had not even said a word to her yet. I looked at her perplexed, and said "yes I am here to pick up my order" and she told the young lady next to her to help me. I then asked for silver ware and plates, and the older woman went to go and get them. Then she returned and gave me two settings and I had asked for three. So, I politely told her that she had given me two. She again rolled her eyes at me, and said "I know". Clearly she did not know, because she only handed me two settings and went to put the rest away. I have been a long time customer of Nancy Chang, and am saddened. I am hoping someone will speak with her, and confront her about her actions. If you want the best deal, go for the buffet. I've been here more than once, and every time, the food is spot on. The service is very fast, we usually get seated right when we walk in. This place has the best Chinese food i've ever tasted. They keep the selection down to around twenty different varieties. The food is always fresh, the chefs usually bring in new batches every twenty minutes. My personal favorites are the crab rangoons, lo mein, eggrolls and orange chicken. Another great thing about this place is that if you don't want to get the fattier foods, you can choose from a wide variety of low-calorie, all natural meals. The atmosphere is very clean, and if you're lucky you'll be seated near the exotic fish tank. This is the best place in Worcester to get Chinese food. Went to Nancy Chang's on New Year's Eve and was unpleasantly surprised that they were only serving the buffet. I had made reservations and was not told that there was a limited menu for the evening. I would not have booked, if I had known it was the buffet. The food was good, but not at all what we had been looking for or expecting. We found the staff abrupt and ill-equipped to handle what must have been extra diners that evening. It seemed to us that a restaurant would be expecting that on New Year's Eve and be prepared to handle it, but they obviously were not. I've been to many restaurants on busy evenings and they have always seemed courteous to diners and professional, which was simply not the case at Nancy Chang. This restaurant really needs to have their staff, especially their hostess, take a workshop or classes on efficiency, manners, and overall management of a restaurant. Under no circumstances, should the hostess be complaining to diners about the management of the establishment. The food was very good, but the dining experience could really use some help. read more

If 0 was an option this is what I would give. I know it's New Year's Eve and a lot of people order but if your going to spend $$ on food when you bring it home and go to eat it you would like it to be hot or at least warm. I will say that this placed Lomain is quite good and I found that the people there are very nice and have never been mean to me or my family and if any of you come here I recommend the chicken Lomain and the delicious crispy crab ran goons and the cream in the middle is just so delicious I personally am not a fan of cooked vegtables so I don't particularly like how they put that in the chicken Lomain the buffet has so many options to choose from so I would quote highly recommend this place to people all around the world read more

I eat lunch here at least once a month, not because it is amazing Asian cuisine (it is not) but in my opinion it is significantly better than the other options. If you are a fan of the no window mystery meat lobster sauce and fried rice that is saltier than the road after a blizzard and just smothered in oil....you might want to stay away from "The Chang". Brace yourself....this place has windows and is lit mostly with sunlight. They don't have a single Polynesian mural....the place is built out in an old mill building with brick and exposed duct work. It is a nice looking place and for the most part the food is well prepared. I like this place because they offer gluten free and vegetarian dishes. Unfortunately, they have one of those awful buffets but even there they always have vegetables and lighter dishes. But like all buffets----stay away form the steam table....the food is usually overly oiled so that it can stay moist when exposed to the heat of the table or warming lights. The menu is extensive and inventive...they offer pan-Asian dishes and classic Chinese dishes plus an extensive number of vegetarian and GF offerings. They also have a decent wine list and do not push silly umbrella drinks made with pineapple juice and rum.....so if you want an Asian restaurant committed to light and healthy food...give this place a try. It is a bit pricey and over the years the portion size has been shrinking so if you are bringing hungry kids it can be an expensive experience. read more

Your typical Chinese food, their chicken fingers are really good! Love the sauces that come to the table. We got there at about 2:25 thinking we'd have to order from the menu (buffet closes at 2:30 on Sundays), but it was still open because of other customers. We went up twice, then got a friendly heads up from the waitress that they were going to be shutting it down soon. I came in here with my fiance last night, We've been going to Nancy changs for almost 8 years now. We had our night planned out, knew what we were getting and ready! We sat down got our ID's out and ordered a scorpion bowl. My Id had a crease in the laminate from siting on it from almost a year ago, and all I brought in my clutch was my ID, phone and cash, what else do I need for a night out with my fiance? The waitress asked for a second form of id and accused me of having a fake. I was so offended, it looks just like me! I look the same. I talked to the bar manager and she said she could clearly see that it was a real ID and that it was me and said she could get me a seat if I wanted. Then the waitress came over and had the nerve to start arguing how it was a real ID , it just was not me. She was so rude, I was so embarrassed. I have never have someone offended me like she did last night. I cannot express how angry I am. I will never be returning to Nancy changs. Ordered a veggie and noodle dish about 9:00pm and picked it up 20minutes later. Brought it home and it was just terrible. There were only a few pieces of veggie and the noodles (flat ones) looked like they were scraped from the side and bottom of the cooking pan. On top of it all, the whole dish was cold. Well, maybe not "cold" but certainly not "hot." No, I didn't contest the food quality because I'm tired of wasting my time with larger restaurants that lose sight of their quality control. Meh. I went here because they have a pretty large menu that includes sections for vegans, gluten free people, diabetics, etc. I am a vegan and appreciate a vegan menu. That was until I got the food. I ordered the soy chicken with pineapple. It seemed relatively safe as I eat vegan chicken all the time. Wrong! The meal that came out looked like something that had just been born. It was so, so slimy. It did not look appetizing but I tried to eat it. I could not for the life of me put my finger on what the flavor was of the sauce (it wasn't pineapple) but I knew it was disgusting. Now I have often gotten meals in restaurants that weren't exactly top notch, but I have normally been able to choke them down. Not at this place! It was so disgustingly foul that i just couldn't eat it. That would have been enough for me to give this place a low review, but it gets even better. When the waitress came by my boyfriend pointed out that the food was terrible and that I couldn't eat it. The waitress seemed confused as to what to do. Eventually she came back and said that she had asked the manager to remove it from the bill but that he had refused. Instead they would give us 20% off the bill. Um, what?? We went here on New Year's Eve for dinner. We had made a reservation beforehand so we got a seated right away but even if we hadn't called ahead, there wasn't a wait. We were surprised that it was a buffet-only night but it worked out fine. There was a good variety in the buffet. Some things were room temperature but others were fresh out of the kitchen. We each went up a couple of times for either dinner or dessert (the sugar donuts right out of the oven are amazing!). Our waitress was VERY friendly and welcomed us so much she made us feel like we were in her very own home. The restaurant seemed to be very busy for take-out since it was New Year's Eve but there was a good amount of people in the restaurant too. There was never a line for the buffet which was good. The food tasted pretty good... I liked some things better than others. It seemed like typical Chinese food to me even though it's supposed to be healthier. I would go back again or get take-out. Seems a shame that the owner of this establishment would put so much money into the place to have it run by a group of workers so intent on f'ing it up. That's Worcester for you, I guess. The hostess was dismissive and cold and sat us in an area that wasn't even covered by the wait staff. Sat for 30 minutes before getting a drink order in. Waitress seemed far more intent to talk to friends at the bar than do her job; brought out food and drinks in random order and left us sitting there staring at each other for probably another 30 minutes until everyone had their meal. Some of us didn't even get the entire order. We just kind of gave up against the sheer will of this woman to be such a sucky waitress. Had to basically track her down so we could pay the bill, and then she calculated our bill incorrectly. Should've just walked out, but I'm not that kinda guy. Funny thing - a couple leaving at the same time from a different table was complaining about their experience while walking through the parking lot and I couldn't help but overhear the conversation... so I don't feel in the least-bit bad about writing this terrible review because I know it's not just me. Surprisingly enough you can find the silver lining underneath anything. This is one of the times I have felt this way. After trying so many bad restaurants in this city, I finally found one that is both classy in appearence and the food is healthy and just awesome! The place exists in the Tatnuck Sqaure area of Worcester, not great but okay. It is in a very nice refurbished building and is nice both on the outside and very nicely set up on the inside. The place is quite large and is set up very nice and you would never know it was Chinese, because it is decorated tastefully. The service is prompt and helpfull. This is a place that wants you to come back. The drinks are very good and they have a complete wine list. The menu has all kinds of delicious Chinese selections and it was redone so everything is healthy and made to order and taste great! I dont think I ever had a bad meal here and never walked out feeling sick from too much sodium or MSG. I would highly recommend this place! Went to Nancy Chang's three times this past week. Once with a large party, another for appetizers, the third for the Sunday buffet. Yes, we like it! Really good tasting Chinese food. Not just heavy deep fried. No MSG. Good variety. In our party, we sampled most all the soups. Everyone loved them. I tried seafood delight soup (for 2) - at first wasn't sure, but then really liked it. Hot and sour was a little "hot" for me, but others liked it. Wasn't a huge fan of vegetable egg drop soup, but that's my only regret for all three visits. Best crab rangoon I've had. Wife liked coconut shrimp (even ordered it with buffet!). Waitstaff was supurb. Mike very patient and exact on our orders; Kelly, five stars. Ideal waitress, so willing to help and serve - no attitude like some restaurants... barmaids made our "specialty drinks" to perfection. All-in-all great experience, highly recommended. Worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant by far. We came in and our server was unprofessional and rushing us, even though they were not busy. We ordered drinks and our server, Jackson, came back and took our drink order AGAIN, as if he had forgotten the first time. We put in our food order and the food came out-but we never got our drinks. We wanted water to start also-never got it. We waited over 45 minutes for drinks. We finished our food before receiving drinks, which we went up to the bar by ourselves to get. We flagged down another server for drinks, boxes, and the service we were supposed to receive from our server. It was my best friends birthday and she had the worst experience ever and I felt so bad. We specifically asked to see a manager and the manager never came. I am a restaurant manager and I am beyond disgusted with the service at Nancy Changs. I will never go back. So awful. read more

Nancy Chang is one of the best Chinese places in this whole area. I have lived here only a few years (thank God) but while I'm here I try to find clean, upscale restaurants (NOT an easy task in Worcester or even all of drab, low-rent Central MA) . BUT I liked Nancy Changs. Service for us was great. Fast. Clean environment. A waitress named Brenda will go to the ends of the earth to give great service. The food is tasty, fresh and if ever not, they subtract it with no attitudes. I avoid weekends and then the restaurant is nice and quiet. Deadset in the middle of nowhere, Nancy Chang is a veritable gem in the Worcester restaurant scene. The menu is huge and comprises a number of unique dishes. The food came out quickly, and our server was personable and attentive. I ordered the thai shrimp with red curry, which was a little too spicy for my tastes, but otherwise very good. My boyfriend ordered the pad thai with chicken. It wasn't as good as you'll find in true Thai restaurants, but it wasn't bad. The potion sizes were generous. I can't wait to come here again and try one of the many other items on their extensive and intriguing menu! read more

Having eaten here too many times to count, and brought up on Szechuan food with Joyce Chens of Boston and Cambridge since 1958 I can honestly say that this is about the Best Chinese food available on either side of 495. While a couple of the waitresses can get a little bit brusque when super busy the service is excellent and the food held to a very high standard. The vegetarian selections are outstanding and about the only choice around as the vegetarian and vegan dishes are prepared on meat free surfaces. I am astonished by some of the negative reviews and have to wonder if they werent "placed" by competitors nervous about how "outclassed" they are by this fine establishment. Layne is about the best waiter ever and Brenda and Sandra are excellent too. For the last few months the Buffet has had several of the top vegetarian dishes offered. We usually get Nancy Chang at least once a month and have been going there about 7 years. It is not cheap and tonight it was not good. I don't know if they got a new cook or what. The beef teryaki was dry and chewy and super salty to the point that our tounges are burning. The duck sauce was watery and strangely orange flavored. Crab rangoons were undercooked and bland and the chicken fingers tasted off. For the price ($28) we will not be going back. read more
