Once we had a blank canvas, she worked with me to understand how I envisioned using the space and came up with simple ideas on how to move pieces around so that it looked more intentional. We brainstormed ideas that would cozy up the space and make it much more functional -- we ended up going for a Vietnamese-inspired outdoor eating area. She helped me come up with ideas for decor and now the space feels so much cozier and I spend much more time there! I highly recommend working with Linh. She really listens to your needs, and the best part is that she emphasizes working with what you already have rather than buying a bunch of new things. Best of all, she helps with tips on how to maintain the space, so that you don't have to worry about it falling back to its original condition. I heard about Debra and sent off an email to her describing my situation and we were able to work out a time to meet and to discuss the project. On our first meeting I knew she was the one that could help me with all the organizing and packing that was necessary! We worked together at the house for a week and I knew I had made the right choice a she was so incredibly helpful and fun to work with. I had about 1,000 DVDs to sell and she boxed everything up and brought it all down to sell at Rasputens and also made several trips to the Good Will. She was also great for referrals around town on the more expensive things I decided to sell. I also brought her to my apartment and she completely organized my kitchen IN ABOUT AN HOUR! Not only did Debra help me with all the organizing and packing of a large home, she developed a budget for the remodel and put together a working binder to keep everything organized. I recently downsized to a significantly smaller apartment and was really struggling with trying to figure out how I was going to fit all the things I needed to access into my tiny space. I was totally stuck although I consider myself a pretty organized person. Leah was able to immediately get started the moment she walked in, and she asked me thoughtful questions and THEN suggested ways to organize my belongings in such a way that would actually work with how I function. I made more progress in the 2 hours I worked with her then I had made on my own in two weeks !!! It was a totally collaborative process, if she suggested something I didn't think would work for me she was quick to offer several other solutions. And I think because she asked smart questions and put together something that really worked for ME it has been really easy for me to keep up with my new system and put things back where they belong. Also, I wasn't expecting this, but she helped me swap out and re-arrange some furniture (even trudged down with me to my basement storage area to pick out a different side table for an awkward spot) and gave me some advice on where to hang some art. Her personality was great - she was friendly but very to the point and straight forward. She definitely kept us moving forward, and I was appreciative that she seemed very conscious of the fact that I wanted to keep our hours down. Not only did she have creative suggestions on optimizing my space, she has a real eye for design. My kitchen has exposed shelves and she had creative and fun suggestions for displaying some of my kitchen goods (and I get compliments all the time on her set up). Leah is incredibly resourceful and was able to use a lot of the organizing tools (bins, hooks and racks) that I already had to set up my closet and bedroom. She also helped me prioritize the top purchases I needed to make and I must say those purchases have made all the difference. She helped me arrange my bedroom/living room which is always the tricky part of living in a studio. She was patient and even moved some of my furniture and art around until we found a set up that worked really well. She had great suggestions on new furniture pieces that are ideal for small spaces like a bench at the end of my bed that can be used for storage and an extra seat when guests come over. As other reviews have described previously, Desiree is not cheap but she and her crew do excellent work. I strongly recommend them if you are in serious need of downsizing your possessions. In my case, I have a three-bedroom, three-bath residence, but also had previously maintained a separate two-bedroom apartment when I commuted back and forth from San Diego during the weekdays for six years. In addition, I had moved seven times, plus acquired additional possessions after settling three estates (one large and two medium sized estates). You get real value for the money spent as I tried in vain to organize my accumulation of stuff over 40 years for a permanent move to the east coast. In my case, I suffered a recent injury to both shoulders and had recent surgery of my right shoulder, which compounded the difficulty of packing for my move. Having Julie, Samantha, and Max sort through my accumulated "stuff," and help determine what can be donated from the unwanted items is their strength. They are aware of multiple organizations beyond just Goodwill and Salvation Army, to ensure that unwanted items will be useful to others in need. An example is my barely used electric keyboard set with amplifier. Desiree quickly arranged a donation with a bay area high school music department, after I tried my kids' high school, which never responded. Another service they provide is donation receipts with an inventory of the major items to support your tax records. In my case, I had over 15 receipts and eight pages of an inventory listing.
