The asada and Carnitas tacos were good, the pan Dulce is hit or miss...what I mean is that I usually go for puercito, cuerno, elote, in that order. I did not like the puercito, but they had an oreja (Palmier pasttry), in mini versione which were great. read more

The birria is some of the best you can get but the menudo is hands down the best in Oxnard!

The servers are rude and mean. The bread is open to air for flys and mosquitoes to feast on. When it's your turn to order you get held at if you're not ready. When you ask questions they roll their eyes and tsk at you as if you were a bother. When your order is ready they yell at you if you're not quick. Nancy's is a staples in the Oxnard community! I have been coming here since I was a kid and I'm nearing 50s. My go-to is always Menudo, Chicken Tamale, and Champurrado. I'm not much of a pastry person but there's a huge variety. I don't live in Oxnard anymore but every time I am in town, this is the place to go. Currently 3 months pregnant & this place will definitely leave you with a bad taste in your mouth and I'm not talking about the food. I came in here and ordered a pastor burrito I kindly asked her if it had onions she said yes I asked to pls have them removed I mentioned it a couple times. When I went to take a bite there was onions I went in and kindly told them I had asked for no onions and the cashier told me it was "common knowledge " that pastor has onions in it??? I had asked to change my burrito to a breakfast one but as they were making it in the back I kept hearing them talk about me and how everything has onions. Cashiers kept looking around at each other and smirking every time I'd say something. Okay I've been spoiling you guys with these nice restaurants in these great areas (LA, Beverly Hills, Malibu, the valley) but now I'm going to tell you about a spot in my hometown. The South Side of Oxnard CA. If you're ever in my hometown area, take a trip over to Nancy's Bakery for some good authentic Mexican food. Ever since I received word that one of my favorite burrito shops (a few doors down) closed down, I thought we would be taco-less (from great tacos on the south side). Fortunately for me, I ran into one of my boys and he brought me here to check it out. I haven't been home in a while and I've seen this bakery before but I never knew this place served Mexican food and it was delicious! I decided to go with the 4 hard shell taco plate. I got 2 pollo and 2 al pastor with rice and beans. The tacos were good, especially the al pastor. The taco shells were really crisp and taste like they were freshly made, which I believe they were because our food took a while to come out. The only negative was they had everything to drink except a few essentials. They had Gatorade (deli drinks) but no bottled water or unsweetened ice tea. They also didn't have any fresh Tamarind, Jamaica or Orchata. If they just add those they will be solid! Overall, this place isn't a looker and it's tucked away in the back of a parking lot BUT believe me! The food is top notch and competes with some of the best authentic Mexican food in the Ox! The food is Amazing and the bread is super delicious. The only issue is the cashier. Her attitude is super nasty. This is not the first time that happen to me. I walk in with a positive attitude and i always say please and thank you and she just doesn't smile or even say thank you back. NOTHING! Like cmon. Grab a tray with some tongs and help yourself to the Mexican pan dulce/sweet breads (cookies, cake, muffins, conchas). Their pastries are gigantic! And most seem to be 60 cents each (didn't see pastry prices posted). Worst asada burrito I've ever had, their hot avena was pretty good but I could not believe how bad that burrito was

So I was in the area in the early morning for work and I was yearning for a chorizo burrito. As I drove on Saviers Rd around 6am, I saw a long line coming out of this place. This obviously caught my attention since why would people line up this early. As I entered this establishment, I noticed customers just picking bakery items with tongs right off a cart in the middle of the floor. They would put them on a tray and just start eating; I guess it's some kind of honor system because the employees didn't mind. There are other food items as well: tacos, sopes, burritos, tortas, and combination plates. I didn't come for donuts and ordered a chorizo burrito and a pork tamale; $5.34. The burrito was a good size with great flavor. The tamale was a little small but had the components of a tasty one. As I ate my burrito, the chorizo grease started to ooze out of the tortilla. It wasn't the most pleasant sight but I expected it from chorizo. Overall, good value for the food you get and it's authentic as it can be. read more

This place used to be really good but now it's just lacking quality. Not to mention their cashier doesnt have the best attitude not friendly whatsoever makes you not even want to ask questions about the food. I went today and they weren't busy ordered a torta , quesadilla , eggs and ham with rice and all I can say is nothing was even half eaten I wanted a refund but I didn't want to go argue with them. My quesadilla was soggy you could barely hold it to eat it the lettuce was put inside I wasnt aware of that I did not like it whatsoever. The eggs and ham I had gotten them for my daughter if you tilted the plate you could see all the grease and what's with the giant ham scares . I didnt like it so I didnt feed it to my daughter didnt seem appropriate. The torta was the only thing that was maybe passable. I also got a large lemon water it wasnt as good as it used to be it tasted somewhat weird if I'm being honest. Definitely no longer reccomend! Seek a different mexican restaurant they fell off. Also I called to see if i could get a refund and they refused as you can see I'm not one of those people who eat the food then complain, the food is there they said i had to speak with the owner and save the food until tomorrow so i can take it to her. I'm not a freeloader paying for food then asking for a refund it was genuinely gross to the point I wanted to throw up and I'm not exaggerating. read more

If you're looking for Mexican sweet bread ( authentic) this is the place to come. They have the best bolillos (bread rolls) every single time I come visit my dad we have to come here to pick up enough bread for my stay. Very small place they are also a restaurant which serves Mexican food. But it seems like majority of its customers come here for the bread. They have a huge variety of sweet breads to choose from. They also serve Champurrado (Mexican hot chocolate beverage). Prices are very decent and customer service is great and fast. Highly recommend this place for any of your sweet bread needs. read more

I'll give their food five stars because it is really good. However you come here just for the food not the service. I am allergic to onion and so I always order my food without it and normally they don't make the mistake. Today my burrito had onion so I informed them of my allergic and ask for a new one. Mind you I was very nice about. They re made my burrito but gave it to me as a small. I love the food that they make but today service was horrific. i live down the street from amazing place. whenever you are craving authentic mexican food this is the place to be at! their flavor is much like traditional homemade food . The chile verde is to die for. With its rich spicy flavor eat bite is like dying and going to heaven nd then coming back. The carnitas burrito is how can i say this amazing!. NANCY'S BAKERY is one of those places were they put alot of meat in anything you order. the burritos are huge. you get so much more than you pay for. the workers are all very amable. i believe that it is family owned . I've been to this place plenty of times, the food authentic and very good and cheap. They pan dulce/sweet bread, hot drinks i.e. coffee, teas, hot chocolate, teas, and Mexican drinks for $2.00 for the large cup. They also have great Mexican food burritos, sopes, enchiladas, tortas, and tacos for a very good price. The large burritos are only $3.00. On Saturdays and Sundays they have menudo and homemade tortillas to go and to eat here. I recommend this place. Plus the workers/ owners are very nice. read more
