    Café de olla
    Jenny L.

This place is a small hidden spot in Oxnard but every time I'm around I have to stop by My favorite has to be the iced café de olla, I've tried others but nobody does it like xielo and trust me I've tried many around Oxnard. I recommend the guava empanadas and/or a crepe!

This place is just incredible. The people are so talented and what they do and the desserts make you want more. Is anything better than the smell of a warm crêpe as you're walking up to this place? It's absolutely intoxicating. But then there's the desserts. The macaroons, the cream filled empanadas, and the flan is out of this world. Again, if you're in the area, this place is totally worth a try. But I will warn you, their food is so good that it's addicting.

What a lovely cafe! In the area and needing some coffee/pastries so happy to find this place. Located DT it's a cozy nook and easy to pass right by. Once inside the aromas are immediate. Wide variety of pastries and treats. As well as crepes and desserts. Lots of options! I ordered a cafe de olla and a variety of cookies. Oh and didn't forget that guava empanada. Yum! Excellent spot. Recommend!

My adventures led me to this cute bakery coffee shop serving a wide array of specialty desserts. I normally would go for the crepes, but I was too full and decided to order some almond brittle, almond croissant, and almond cookie to go. I was in an almond mood, if you can't tell. I also tried the caffe de olla, which is a brown sugar and cinnamon coffee. I don't really care for the coffee, but the desserts were tasty. Free parking lots all around. Some seating outdoor. Casual. Service is good.

I found Xielo during a work trip. It's a super cute small artisan shop in downtown Oxnard. It low key reminded me of a small Mexican town desert artisan store where my grandmother pastries were found! I had the Nutella crepe (strawberries, bananas, Nutella & sweet condensed milk), and it tasted like a fusion of fresas con crema and Nutella bana crepe..... soooooo good!!!! I also tried the flan, super creamy and not overly sweet so that's was a plus +++ I did get a variety of cookies and a guayana con queso empanada and AGAIN sooooo good. I will definitely come back to get MORE CREPES AND MORE PASTRIES. If you are in the area or even visiting near by, Xielo is a MUST try.

ALWAYS a crowd pleaser. This was actually my 2nd time in line the same day. I had to return for more goodies to bring back to LA.

Love this place have for the past couple years. Been going to Oxnard once a week for the past 3 weeks. So that means I have to make a stop at Xielo. Picked up some cookies, pan de nodal, cheese danish which was just ok, a blueberry stressed also not as impressive as the other baked goods, a couple of monster ice coffees (lrg 32 oziced coffees), small cafe de olla, a jesuitas, even a quiche. Can't just get one thing here. They stay busy for good reason. The owner is nice to everyone. He had a usual stop by and it was nice to see him in a different light even nicer somehow. The place is small but filled with treasures.

Finallllllly I found a place with amazing Cafe de Olla! I have been searching high and low but thanks to Erica G. (fellow YES member) I finally found it! This place is located in downtown Oxnard, parking is limited, and if you drive too fast - you might miss it . When I arrived, there was a line outside so I knew I was in for a treat. The shop smelled really good, as a coffee / pastry shop should, and the staff was nice and patient as it was my first time there. I ordered the Cafe de Olla off of a recommendation, a pistachio macaroon, and an almond croissant. 10/10, 10/10, and 10/10 (next time, I'm going to warm my croissant up though) The cafe de olla wasn't too strong and had just the right amount of orange zest. Having had a macaroon from a previous location recently, this one really took the cake in regards to taste and size, and the croissant had the perfect amount of almond / glaze to croissant ratio. Overall - I'm sad they are closed today (Monday) cause I would be heading over there right now!

    Nutella Crepe

Great place with fast service. A small shop with a nice easy going ambience. I went on Sunday afternoon, ordered a Nutella Crepe and received my order in a timely manner. Definitely will be coming back soon!

Happy 7th anniversary (2.25.24) ! So happy to have you in our community. I have been a customer since day 1. I used to go more for the cafe de olla here but now I go for the fraps! Today, I got the large cajeta frap which i didn't realize was 32oz. Holy moly! Huge for 8.99 and so good! It was busy today with a line out the door! Soo many people happy to celebrate that they continue providing excellent desserts /drinks and crepes! Always cute, neatly organized and I love the touches of Mexico everywhere! So happy I stopped by! They were super sweet and gifted each person with a "7" shortbread cookie as a thank you! They also had raffles and gifts for customers! Cheers to many many many more!

Parking can be a bit hard there's a parking structure across the street. The store is a bit small but there's no sit down so you'd have to order to go. There's coffee options as well as crepe and pastries options as well. We ordered the Nutella crepe and the xielo crepe both were good. The portions was good enough to make you full. The services was quick.

Went to Xielo today , got there right before they closed - truly thee best cafe de la olla! Their polvorones cookies are such a treat. Quick great service with a smile, always a vibe, love their plants and how they support the community. Also love how it's located in a historic landmark (Woolworth)! #coffeelovers #shoplocalbusiness #CafeDeOlla #latinafoodie #xielo

REVIEW: First timer to the location in Cam! To know me is to know that I am obsessed with their brown butter toffee cookies. I have been known to clear out the inventory at the Ventura (mall) location, #sorrynotsorry. They are THAT good. Trust me. So, this order was to go, but the inside seemed airy and open, loved the open vibe. There's a good amount of outside seating too, so if that's your preference, I would choose that option. (It's better than sitting outside at the Ventura Mall location, IMO). The employees were basic, that's OK. I don't expect much in 2026. No pics as the cookies were packed away in my bag asap. But, I'll be back! It was a fine-enough visit. Thanks!

Their evening menu is large as well, with many additions. The portions are excellent and the owners (who also operate the restaurant-- it's largely family-run) are very nice. I've noticed some negative reviews, but these also seem to be from people who are there during the breakfast rush. Because the adjacent Palm hotel does not offer on site breakfast, they send their guests to Mikey's with meal vouchers. This is all well and good, but people should be more understanding of the fact that a busy restaurant is going to have a longer wait, and based on what I saw today while dining, I'm sure Mikey's should be getting paid more than whatever they might be getting from partnering with the hotel. For the record, this review is from breakfast on Memorial Day; the restaurant wait time is much more reasonable at other times. Thanks, Mikey's! 6-yr old niece: They make my hot chocolate with marshmallows! It's the BEST!

This place is cool for Dinner but too chaotic for breakfast…read more We stayed at the neighboring hotel and Mikey's is right across the parking lot. They also have a contract with them to serve their complementary breakfasts so we decided to hit them up for dinner. When we entered we were greeted by Mike, at least I thought it was as his shirt talked about how good/cool Mikes are. He was very nice and accommodating and made some recommendations. I was intrigued by his description of the Dynamite Sticks and promptly ordered the ground pork version. When they arrived i started to get a little apprehensive by the look of them but within ten minutes we had emptied the plate. It was a little too spicy but I enjoyed them. A while later my Rib Eye entree arrived and it was good and priced fairly. I feel the salad seemed a little bland and basic but I still crushed it. All in all the dinner was a good and pleasant experience with just a bit of wait. The next morning we went for the hotel's complementary breakfast. It was slammed so we grabbed a spot at the bar. It took about 10 minutes to get or drink order in and another 15 to get our order in and when we did we were rushed and the waitress walked away before we could order more food as the Hotel's complementary breakfast meal was far too small. We were there for about an hour before we got our food. It seemed as though the workers were confused and running in circles. Food tasted good and they even had the good creamer for the coffee. Also, Mike seemed to be there in the morning too and good thing as he seemed to show up and get everything going. I would definitely visit this place again but not for breakfast.

We went on a Sunday around noon and since that is their busiest day, they don't take reservations. We originally had a party of 7 and were told it'd be an hour and a half for a table. While there were a few people waiting outside, when I went inside to use the restroom I noticed multiple open tables. Everyone bailed except my boyfriend and myself because I wanted to try it. We told the hostess and she said it'd be about 40 minute wait for first available. So we went to Starbucks for a drink and maybe 5-10 minutes after talking to the hostess, we got the text to return. We were going to be seated outside so I asked how long to wait for inside. She said 30 minutes. So we sat outside. A couple that had put their name in as we were seated got sat inside after waiting 5 minutes. We sat right next to the door so it was hard to miss. Kinda felt like a slap in the face but whatever, we were hungry. You have to order inside at the register which makes it feel more like quick service than a normal restaurant. So my boyfriend orders. He points at the item we want (chilaquiles). He asked for water , a side of poblano sauce. When the food comes out, after about 10 minutes (so pretty quick), it wasn't chilaquiles but an egg and potato dish. We explain this isn't what we ordered and the bus boy goes to get the women inside whom my boyfriend ordered from. She insists he ordered something different. He said 'I pointed at what I wanted which was the chilaquiles'. The lady agrees (it felt like reluctantly) to have it made with the red sauce it comes with. About 5 minutes later the chilaquiles come out with a green sauce. No water, no side of poblano sauce. I get up and go to ask what happened and the man at the register looked up our order. He Told us we didn't order chilaquiles and became argumentative. At this point I just want the side of sauce and will eat what they gave us because we were hungry and didn't want them to mess it up again. Silverware was also not at the table and had to be asked for. The green sauce is fine but not what is on the menu or what we ordered. The poblano sauce was tasty. The potatoes were mushy. Eggs cooked well but salad wilted. The order also came with an empanada. I got cheese and it was fine. Nothing to go back for. We also ordered a biscoff crepe. I'm sure if you've never had a Parisian crepe you'd think it was good however, the consistency was of it was like a flour tortilla. Not authentic at all. The biscoff sauce made it taste ok. My boyfriend noticed the table next to us also had an incorrect order. So, they lie about the wait times, don't get orders correctly then argue with the customer when you try to get it right, and the food tastes just ok. Is it good for IG, yes. Do you want a quality meal with good service? Don't come here. Perhaps mine was a one off experience but it was highly disappointing. Not worth the hype Also they thought I couldn't speak Spanish and when I went in, I heard them talking about us. Just because I'm white, doesn't mean I don't speak Spanish
