Travel souvenirs. We often collect them in hopes that they'll bring us pleasant recollections at some point in the future. Wouldn't it be great if they were already waiting for us to return home the whole time? Thought of another way, wouldn't it be incredible if you experienced something special while traveling far from home, only to happily cross paths with it once again years in the future? The latter is exactly what happened to @heyhannahchandler. A California native, she embarked on a world wind tour that included a visit to South Africa. She enjoyed her meal at "Nando's PERi-PERi" and likely thought the only souvenir she'd take home with her were her fond memories. Well imagine her surprise when years later she moved to Canada and found a "Nando's" already waiting for her! With a lineage like theirs, "Nando's" is a friend that you really ought to endeavor to stay in touch with. Their dishes are largely based upon the PERi-PERi chilli that was born in Mozambique, spent its influential teenage years being influenced by Portuguese explorers, and later found its home and settled down in Rosettenville, South Africa. And you thought you had an interesting origin story! Although their Afro-Portuguese chicken creations taste already deliciously marinated, you are more than welcome to supplement your meal from a selection of choices at their "spicy chilli sauce bar." However, be for-warned that their Extra Hot PERi-PERi is self-described as, "Like tackling a ferociously fiery dragon." Fear not about wading into these molten waters of entree flavor because you'll be able to successfully douse those flames with an order of either "Naughty Natas" or "Nando's Kisses" from their dessert menu. Just reviewing the fries. They're not what I remember.. They used to be one of my favourite fast food fries but this time it just didn't hit. The fries were slightly too hard for my soft mouth and there was barely any seasoning on them. Hoping it's a one-time mishap! They're usually crispy and deliciously seasoned with their peri powder. I got takeout but service was good doing that. It's quiet inside as not many people eat in during lunch. read more

Haven't had Nando's since the UK so had to get some. Overall the chicken, fries, and peri-peri sauce are still delicious. Just disappointed by the rice and small portion size. Good for some fast chicken. I was visiting Surrey for the day and got hungry after visiting Guildford Mall. This one was close by and still open somewhat late, so I decided to check it out. Parking is easy as it has its own parking out front. Inside the restaurant, plenty of seating, booths and tables, and has a fast food restaurant family vibe. The tables and seats are a little old and we sat ourselves. We ordered the Full Pack for 6 people and chose PERI-fries and spiced rice as our large sides. It also came with a side of garlic bread. This was about right for 6 people who were moderately hungry but could've used a little more food. You go up to the counter to order. The garlic bread was crispy and good for sharing. We got Lemon & Herb for the chicken, which tasted fantastic and well marinated. It basically was soft enough that it came off the bone too. The peri-peri sauce makes a good choice if you want the flavor spicier. The PERI-fries were also crispy and delicious, and a generous size for sharing. We were only disappointed by the spiced rice as it was essentially one serving of rice in a small bowl. For a large side this is pretty disappointing and hard to share. It also tasted very bland. I couldn't taste any seasoning and it tasted like microwaved rice. There was only one waiter and there's a 10-15 minute wait as the food cooks, but overall service is solid. The restaurant wasn't too loud and had a chill vibe. Overall value was good for the amount you can get to feed 6 people. Recommend trying this place out for the peri-peri chicken and fries for a quick bite. read more

If you enjoyed flame-grilled chicken, Nando's is a popular chain option in the area. They are known for their spicy peri-peri sauce. Service was fast, organized and friendly. My order was ready for pick up when I arrived and a large number of customers had ordered as well. Chicken was tender and juicy. The peri-peri sauce added a spicy kick. The garlic mashed potatoes was surprisingly good. The fries were freshly fried and had retained that fried crispness even when I got home. Overall, it was an enjoyable family lunch. I don't tip for take out. When I tried to pick up a phone order from the Guildford location, the fellow at the till went over to the orders waiting for pickup, looked at what was actually my order, and told me mine would be another 15 minutes. After waiting that long, another server came over, asked for my name, looked again at the same bags of ready orders and brought one over, telling me it was mine. I refused it because it had been sitting for so long, so she told me it would take another 15 minutes to redo the order. After that much more time, I demanded a refund and left. I firmly believe that my order was messed with because I had not done a tip for take out. Tips are for service and simply handing over a bag is not service. This tipping nonsense is out of hand and being screwed over for not leaving a tip is the final straw. I will not return to this location and I will likely be dining out less. read more

Do you guys read notes on orders for skipthedishes? Everytime I order I usually put a note like no need for sauce just add 3 bastings. Am I right that sauces are different from your bastings? Because we inquire this before in your restaurant and the manager just told us that just ask for extra bastings because sauce is different. This is one of the friendliest restaurants around. I love Nando's chicken and this was another great experience I had with Nando's. The new decor was so fancy and also traditional African style. The staff was super friendly and informative and welcoming. The food as always, yummy, mouthwatering fresh. It was so good. Location is also convenient, near bus station, has parking spaces and near guildford mall. I enjoyed my meal and recommend it to everyone who likes chicken. POOR QUALITY AND HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. As a regular ( 3 times a week) customer One of the worst customer service handlers. Staff like JAG first mess up your order, blame it on you , argue back and then tell you things like " you always order different things so that's why we get confused" lol. I did not even ask for a refund or change of order after hearing this and simply just walked in and returned the wrong items. I will never step my foot into their door again in a store where owners let this negligence happen with customer service. read more

Not sure I'll come back to this location again.... When they brought my food they got it wrong. They also forgot my friend's drinks and cutlery. I go here as often as I can and am never disappointed. The food is always fresh and grilled perfectly! It's so delicious and the peri peri becomes totally addictive. This is by far my favourite place to eat. The prices are good for the amount of food you're getting and the service is welcoming, polite, and fast. I often get the 1/2 chicken with medium hotness and it's so tender! The fries here are also very good, and I suggest getting them peri peri. This is definitely a must-visit if you are a fan of spicier foods and can appreciate a big meal. read more

Terrible service. My daughter, wife and I ordered and they brought my wife's and daughter's meals and not mine. I asked the server wandering around three times for my meal and they didn't get back to me. They also forgot my daughter's salad. About 10 minutes after my wife and daughter finished their dinner's mine came. They didn't do anything to make it right -no apologies or free fries for the trouble or anything. I gave them 2 stars instead of 1 because the food is really good! I'll just go to other Nando locations but never this one! read more

While visiting Canada, I had the pleasure of dining at Nando's located at 15190 101st Avenue in Surrey. I had heard of Nando's from several television programs and made it a point to visit, a destination dinner. My husband and I were greeted promptly by the courteous hostess and we were seated quickly. The restaurant was clean and colorful. The walls adorned with artwork from South Africa and many of the seats were fashioned with printed fabrics from that region. How Nando's is able to keep the white and black fabric pristine is a testament to their high standard of cleanliness. The staff was helpful and professional, since this was our first visit, they took time to explain the menu and different sauces. We met the restaurant Supervisor Jeff his affable charm and friendly nature made conversation enjoyable, and he made it his mission to ensure we had a perfect meal. I ordered a whole chicken with hot sauce and garlic mashed potatoes, fries and my husband ordered a half chicken with mild sauce, corn and rice. The portions were amazing the exact amount of food to satiate without over indulging. The chicken was perfectly seasoned tender and juicy. I could not imagine how they were able to grill the chicken with an amazing sear on the exterior and a moist, delicious chicken interior. The sauce was flavored with just the right amount of heat and complimented the chicken well. The side dishes were equally impressive, the garlic mashed potatoes were seasoned properly and did not have a heavy garlic aftertaste. We were so impressed with our meal that we asked to speak with the kitchen manager. Wilson greeted us in the friendly professional manner that we had grown accustomed to at Nando's, he was truly happy to hear that we enjoyed our meal and thanked us for our visit and our compliments. We then met the general manager Irene and informed her that she has a top tier staff working at her restaurant. She was lovely and appreciated the compliments, she was glad that we made her restaurant a "must see." Overall, the visit was everything I had hoped: fantastic staff, terrifically seasoned food in perfect proportions and feeling of a warmth and happiness at Nando's. I used to eat at this location almost everyday for about two years and I must say that it is my favourite location because I walk in the door with confidence knowing that my chicken is going to be served fresh and juicy rather then dry like some other locations I've visited.
