The reason I decided to go to them is that a friend has been using them for a while to repair her older Honda Accord, and they always treated her right. I saw a review by someone else bashing them for lack of service, but I happen to know that a couple of members of their family had some heath struggles a while back, and with this being a family owned and operated business, that was unfortunate and difficult. My guess is that this person got impacted by that, which is a shame, but I can say without question, that it was unusual, and not the way that this business is run. They are honest, and reliable, and that is not only uncommon these days, but it is of great importance! I will continue to do business with them.

Over the course of two weeks, I had reached out to multiple big dealers regarding a variety of vehicle options, but never finding quite the right fit that met my needs. By chance, I happened across a listing for a 2026 Nissan LEAF EV with only 100 miles on it listed at JRS. It was an option that I had previously been interested in, but the new prices for anything above a base model were more than I wanted to do. Ray, the owner of JRS, had managed to scoop this one up from the manufacturer's corporate fleet, nearly unused, and offered it at a very reasonable price. I reached out and received an immediate response from Ray who, over the next several days, worked with me in good faith as I negotiated insurance and GAP processing issues on my previous car with the bank (who was also issuing the new loan and was holding things up because of issues with their GAP company and a data breach). Ray never pressured for a deposit and was very understanding throughout the process. He repeatedly updated and resubmitted paperwork every time the bank asked for a new addition and never complained. In the end, we got to the weekend and he had done everything necessary to get the bank to issue the check on the new loan and had the car waxed and detailed, waiting for us when we arrived. Small, selective lot, mainly focused on commercial trucks and vans, but a great deal and a great experience from start to finish for us buying a nearly-new personal vehicle. Ray is about as OCD as I am when it comes to the condition of his vehicles, as evidenced by the care he took in trying to make sure the car was spotless when we picked it up. He was more concerned with it than we were. My wife and I did a quick test drive, completed the last of the paperwork and were on our way with our new ride in less than an hour. No games, no bait-and-switch, no additional junk fees tacked on (he actually reduced the price by a few hundred dollars for us). Everything went exactly as you'd want it to go when buying a car. JRS Auto Buyers was, surprisingly, a pleasure to do business with. I would not hesitate to recommend them to friends and family, and would most certainly do business with them again in the future should the opportunity exist. Never had as many problems just trying to get a reasonably accurate estimate from any auto repair shop as this one. The process with four other shops I checked out for the same repairs using same description went smoothly, so not sure why it was so difficult for RNJ. Needed a simple headlight replacement, installation of a new combo meter (circuit board that displays speedometer and odometer), and a quote for an engine swap on a Prius. The woman who provided a two hour quote for the combo meter, Nancy J., didn't know what one was - which is understandable - but apparently couldn't be bothered to look it up. On July 15 promised to get me a quote on the engine swap the next day, then almost two weeks later (July 27) said still didn't have it. Rather than being somewhat apologetic for not following up as promised, her reply was seething with sarcasm. Things rarely turn out well, in my experience, when a company is this careless and puts someone who doesn't understand the fundamentals of customer service as your first point of contact. It's not uncommon for these companies to exercise poor judgment in other aspects of the business as well. Bottom line: Service leaves much to be desired and prices not very competitive. Too many shops out there who are eager to earn your business and extremely capable to put up with this level of carelessness and sarcasm. Is this shop better than a dealership as mentioned in several of the positive reviews? Sure. But that's setting the bar really low. [Note: Nancy edited her sarcastic comments out of the allegedly entire conversation in her response.
