I was to bring my car in Wednesday as early as possible. So after giving them two days notice, they didn't have the tires on hand, and after paying $170 for a "inspection" was told that I needed an alignment, and new tires, and a back tire only had 5 psi... Strangely they assumed that I would leave my car in the parking lot until the next morning. (unlocked, as I discovered) but needing transportation, I left. After driving a few minutes, I checked my tire pressure and found it still had 5 psi. So I called them and asked if they put air in the tire and the response was no because we thought you were going to replace them. (but they didn't have them, even though they had two days notice to get at least two)... returned the next morning. I asked the owner as he arrived to work Thursday morning if it was reasonable to be without transportation for 30+ hours for a couple of tires and a wheel alignment? He replied that it wasn't uncommon! I don't think that is a reasonable standard for any shop! Nothing but misleading communication and lies from these guys. Paid $1000 to DIAGNOSE a misfire, which should be a couple hours of work tops. They bill extra hours and don't do the work that they say they will. Wanted to charge an extra 1.5 hours of labor to put my car back together on top of the 8 hours of labor they billed for a simple diagnosis. That simple diagnosis got completed at another shop in 3 hours and i didn't have to wait around for 2 weeks before they touched my car. They also yanked fuses from my car for no reason and left them hidden in the interior (a sick joke for the less mechanically inclined!?) No response from them when i asked why they even opened my fuse box. A shame to the squamish community that we have shady shops like this in operation. Save yourself the headache, keep some cash in your pockets and get your car running quicker by bringing it ANYWHERE other then Newport Auto

When I tried to correct I hit the concrete post on the end of my garage which munched the fender above the right wheel. Honda recommended Tip Top, so I met with Paul after getting a claim number from ICBC. They said I have damage Insurance and no accidents or tickets so I hope they are fair, with my renewal. Paul's shop did a beautiful job, and I am hoping to get another 20 years out of the CRV, as we just can't buy a new one due to mortgage! He took a look and claim number, and told me a couple of weeks to order skin etc. It was exactly 2 weeks to the day! They did two doors, fender, and bumper on the right side with a perfect paint match!!! When I looked closer at the whole car, I noticed they dabbed some paint on the hood and buffed it. The paint rippled a bit from bird shit but now you cant see it! There was some mini dents on the hood from a bird pecking and they got rid of that too and buffed the whole hood! I took my car for a standard service and to take a look at a warning light. I came away with a totally flat battery (couldnt even start the car in the forecourt and the warning light not dealt with). To top it all they charged me $500 for a $375 retail price Battery. They also charged me 30% more than I was quoted over the phone for my service and couldn't explain it other than to say it was a receptionist who misquoted me. Mike tried to BS me that he had placed a better battery, but his product code which he had cleverly disguised so clients can not cross check the price, aligned exactly with what he had fitted. I called him on it and of course he went silent on me. No responses whatsoever. To miss a flat battery, makes me wonder what else wasn't completed in this car service. When lining up to pay for the car on collection, both clients in front of me were complaining of overcharges against quotes already issued. This seems to be quite a common issue with MIDAS WEST VANCOUVER. This is the last time my family will use MIDAS. We are not idiots MIKE. Don't hide behind your email. When you get called out on your BS, be a businessman, and answer your clients. Try and win them back. it's never fun to see the tire light illuminated on your dashboard. it's worse when you're on…read morevacation and far from home but today i had the experience of having my airbnb host help me get my car to kal tire from robert's creek so that whatever sharp object was the culprit could be extracted and the tire could be patched. the guy who helped was polite, professional and told me that he'd be able to get it taken care of in about 45 min which was great since i was conscientious about imposing on my hostess's time to accompany me into town in case i ended up needing to leave it and return later. in the end, i paid a reasonable amount for the screw to be extracted and for the tire to be patched. it seemed like a small price to pay in terms of time and money to be back in business and put this behind me on my first full day in the area. i appreciated the effort and would say that if you find yourself in the same or similar situation along the sunshine coast, consider kal tire for your needs.
