I deliver frozen dinners to seniors for a company called Heart to Home Meals. The other day as I stopped at a location the driver's side front tire blew out. I still had dinners to deliver and although I was driving a refrigerated van I was concerned about dinners thawing. I was able to limp the van to OK tires on West 3rd Avenue in Vancouver. I told them my situation, and although they were busy they took the time to look at the van, their technician found a tool kit under the driver seat (I didn't know there was one) and was able to lower the spare tire from under the van. They changed the tire for me and I was on my way within 15 minutes. I cannot express just how helpful, understanding and efficient they were. I, and my boss were extremely thankful and we can only say that their service was above and beyond anything we expected. Thank you very much. Came here to get some work done on my tires. I'm not sure if there are franchises for this chain, but it looks like the equipment isn't the same across the board. If you're a car enthusiast, you may want to know that this location does touchless tire mounting and balancing. They have the specialized equipment. The guy told me that they do the wheels for the high-end dealerships in the area. If this is true, they would probably have the best equipment in the industry. Service was very professional, and my tires were mounted exactly the way I wanted them (I gave them special instructions). They even asked me if I wanted my old tires back, which is nice, because not everyone comes here for a replacement. The only stuff they left on the wheels was a bit of this rubbery goo, which rubbed off like an eraser. So why only 4 stars? They're PRICEY. To do my 17" tires, they charged me $41 (compared to $20-30 at other places) per wheel after taxes. But they also didn't leave so much as a nick on my wheels. Guess you get what you pay for. Though why they needed to charge me $8 for "Shop Supplies" is completely beyond me. I always thought that if you pay for a mount + balance, that the balancing weights would be incidental to the work and therefore be free? I'd be looking for a cheaper place in the future, but if you have cash to spend, you can't go wrong here. read more

terrific 3.5 stars, and a 4 for service if you get Blair. The ultimate professional compared to the Marpole location, dressed up, who knows, could be the dt clientele. Store itself is a bit tricky...definitely not wheel-chair friendly, a flight of stairs and a step to watch out for upon entering the store. Quite small actually, so not much of a showcase, just 4 tires. But ask him to check whatever, he even prints out a spec sheet for you to have your paws on, and compare online reviews, he even encouraged it. Leaning towards the Pirellis Scorpion, great for traction & better sound absorption too. I've lived in three cities in my adult life and this is by far the worst auto shop I've come across. In July I got both of my rear tires replaced here. While changing one of the tires, the mechanic found the rear right TPMS sensors was broken and must be replaced. I wasn't given an option to not have it replaced since it was during the process. So I said okay, sure. Bye bye additional $75. On my drive home, I notice that my tire pressure sensor light kept coming on and off randomly. So I call them back, and they say it's no big deal and that I can take it back and get it checked any time. Since it didn't affect my driving too much, I didn't bother going back right away. Fast forward a few months, one of my headlights goes off. I call these guys and I'm quoted $70+tax ($20 for each bulb and $30 for labour). I ask specifically for a cost breakdown because they had told me I couldn't bring in my own headlights to be replaced, and that I need to go with the bulbs they sold. Okay. Sure. The price sounds fair and I make an appointment. I arrive at the shop for my appointment. Guy at the desk prints me out the quote. It's for $220 (???) I ask why the big discrepancy from my original quote on the phone, and he claims that he has no recollection of the $70 quote. I see that even the labour by itself is $96. This is a huge price gouge. Never mind the original $70 quote; Midas had also quoted me at $90+ tax for everything. Guy at the desk says that he'll look into cheaper bulbs, but that the labour, at $96 is non-negotiable. So I do the sensible thing and decline their service and move on to discussing my problem with the TMPS sensor. After describing the problem to them, I am told that I would be charged for the inspection to determine the specific cause of the problem. Yup that's right: they want to charge me to inspect a problem that was caused by their service. ?????? The dude goes on for a while explaining what the problem could be, and what they would need to do to determine the problem, and the approximate cost for each solution/fix. Basically a bunch of bullshit. So I said thanks and walked out. Stay away from this place. read more

Having a flat, being stuck hours from home, and spending money on tires is not my idea of fun. However, somehow the staff at OK Tire made it just that! The staff were accommodating, knowledgeable, thoughtful and professional with an amazing turn around (Smart cars have no spare, and the specific tire was not in stock. Yet they had the tires in within 4 hours, provided a loaner tire so I could get on with my day, and they had me in and out in 15 minutes). T hey were also kind, engaging, funny and had wicked banter! And not at all judgmental about the fact I had temporarily fixed my leak with duct tap (and it worked btw! 102 uses and counting). I weirdly almost wished it took a bit longer so I could hang out with these guys! It was a unique and unexpected above-and-beyond kind of experience. After OK Tire inspected, it was unrepairable and would've cost over $350 to fix. Not wanting to tie up our money, we decided to just fill it up every once and a while for the remainder of the trip. But then Nason (the manager), helped us out by sourcing an appropriate cheaper alternative and we drove away safe with less than $130 spent. That's service! That's extremely commendable! Good tire and service shop that is close to town. Picked up a new set of winter tires today, without any notice they were able to sell me a pair and have me out the door on the same day. Service was really good, friendly and not too pushy, didn't try to up sell me on add-ons that I didn't really need. I didn't have room for all 4 spares in my car so they had no problems with me bringing these tires home 2 at a time on different days. On the downside you might have to pay a little extra here and there but not by much, they compare to the other major tire shops in town. Also it would be a nice touch to give the tires a little wipe down/clean after install, yeah pretty minor. I'll be back in spring to change my tires again and would buy another set from them. read more

They placed my stock tires in plastic bags and placed into my trunk. So far I am very happy with my new snow tires. Bring on winter! read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!! I went here to get an 'Out of Province inspection' done on my car and it was a nightmare. Their rate is $90 which is about average...so I took my car over. I recently had my winter tires put my car and notified the guy at the desk that my TPMS light was now on. He went on and on telling me how I will not pass the inspection due to this light. He told me I'd have to put my summer tires back on or spend $500 for new sensors. NOT TRUE!! as per BC ICBC regulations. LEARN THE REGULATIONS GUY! I called 3 other shops and they all said you were WRONG! The thing that really pissed me off, and possessed me to right this CRAP review, was the guy I had to deal with. He was a chubby white guy at the service desk...wish I got his name, but I was too mad. ANYWAYS, he went on to tell me how my winter tire set-up was, and I quote, "Garbage", "Total pieces of junk", "Complete crap", "Lowest of the low shit"!!!! I feel like this may have been his TERRIBLE way of trying to sell me a new winter package set-up, but the stuff I have came with my car and are perfectly fine. This place has been a nightmare to deal with from the beginning. Where to start; I brought my car in at the end of the summer (2014), because my engine was chocking and losing power. The manager recommended me to change the transmission system because he thought that it was most likely the issue. It did make sense, so I told him to go ahead with the new system. I wish that I was more educated in the matter but I'm just a UBC grad student and I'm not very well rounded with cars. After paying them close to $1000 for a new transmission system, my car was still doing the same thing. Same issue but obviously my money was gone. I came back to the shop and the manager told me "sorry, but it could be anything, the transmission system needed to be changed anyways" I was shocked, specially after spending all that money. I came back for a second time and they ran a proper test instead of just assuming the issue. The test came back misfiring one part, the vacuum valve. After paying another $400 to fix that, I was hoping to be done with this issue for good but a couple of days after "fixing the car", my car started choking up again. I called the shop and the supervisor told me to bring the car in so they can start testing it again. I went in and the manager asked me if the car was chocking at the moment, but it wasn't, so he told me to bring it back when the car was actually choking because they fixed it last time and they didn't find anything else wrong with it. At this point I'm getting pretty upset, not only I took the morning off to bring the car in but I'm also being treated very poorly from the manager. He tells me that I can leave the car in but that he will have to charge me for all the hours of labour, even if they can't find anything. I really don't know how someone with that level of customer service can be running up a shop as big as Ok Tire! After I stated that I wasn't going to pay for the labour again, specially after this being the third time coming in for the same issue, he told me that if his mechanic takes my car out for a test ride, and if he feels something wrong with the car, then he will fix it. I was ready to walk away and never come back, but I decided to go out with the mechanic for the test drive. Shortly after he started driving it, the car started choking. We went back to the shop were the mechanic stated to the manager that there was still something wrong with the car, which validated everything that I was saying before. At least the mechanic (Andrew) was honest and very helpful about it. The manager was kind of apologetic but more embarrassed about the whole thing, so he decided to give me 50% off labour, which at this point it doesn't even cover all the hours that I took off from work to deal with this small issue. This whole experience was very dishonest and I felt disrespected from the get-go. No one should be treated like this. I will definitely won't be coming back to Ok Tire after this. read more

Our starter in our vehicle failed and left us stranded at a local motel in Osoyoos on Easter Sunday. The manager at motel suggested OK Tire as he had positive experiences in the past. I walked into Ok Tire first thing Monday morning and explained our predicament. I was greeted by friendly understanding staff. They were busy, but said if I could get the vehicle towed over, they would fit me in, as they had a quieter day on Thursday. I explained to Neil, the mechanic, that I had tracked down a new starter at a local automotive supply dealer. He did some checking and found one that he thought was of higher quality and order that one. Before I left they gave me the name and number of a local tow operator. I called and they had the car towed over within an hour. Later that afternoon I went back to OK Tire to insure they had my contact information. To my surprise, Neil said they were just waiting for a part, and he would try having the repair done by the end of the day. Sure enough, we got a call a little later, that our car was ready to pick up. The whole experience at OK Tire was beyond exceptional. read more

Prior to my visit yesterday (December 3), I have received good service from other employees at your store. I was having my winter tires swapped over, and I had asked when I called in the appointment to have the rims painted black - the employee I spoke with (I didn't get a name) said "it would be no big deal" - indicating to me that the price wouldn't be extraordinary. These are plain, steel Toyota rims - worth no more than $50 used each... I received the workorder to see that I was being charged $700 for stripping / painting the wheels. SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS. Under the circumstances that I was not quoted on the work before it began, I would have expected some discretion around price compared to the worth of the product being serviced. Brand new 16" steel wheels can be had for $80 a piece. Kodie (sp?) showed no empathy around my reaction to the price, offered no explanation, only "this is what it is". It would have been much more cost effective to sell the old wheels and purchase new ones - nobody thought it was a good idea to offer this as a solution. At this point, furious - I asked for the wheels to be mounted, balanced and put on my truck so I can leave - without the pressure sensors OK was claiming "must be installed", which would have cost another $300 - my invoice was already more than I was willing to pay. This apparently was not possible according to the GM so I took my balanced tires, left and went back to my old shop where my mechanic was more than willing to mount the wheels on my truck without the useless expensive sensors. The sensors are not an "essential safety element", only OK's policy to increase revenue. I was disappointed that there was no effort made to compromise on the price of the paint work as well as the "TPMS mandatory" policy. Toyota has mounted wheels without TPMS on my truck before - that should provide a good enough guideline that not all vehicle owners lack knowledge to maintain their own vehicle. I feel I have to proceed to post these comments on Yelp and make mention to the BBB as I feel this was not handled well at all. I felt compelled to write a few words about Blair and his Team at Okay Tire in Kitsilano. My wife and I have been loyal customers since 1995. Blair's helpfulness, honesty and effort to go above and beyond customer care keep us coming back again and again. He's helped us out in many emergencies. He's advised us both in car purchases. All in all, he's just a fantastic person. After living in Kitsilano for 20 years we move to Tsawwassen over 4 years ago. We still make the trek to Blair's shop 40 minutes away. Yesterday was a prime example of Blair's willingness to go the extra distance. He arranged a courtesy car for me, free of charge, and delivered my car to me at my home. My 2009 Subaru forester had been detailed, once again free of charge, and Blair had personally buffed a scrape out of one of my fenders. I'm amazed that this level of customer service still exists and couldn't be happier that these are the guys that we go to. read more

I'm amazed by the great reviews. My girlfriend told me to go here because they took good care of her. I had a low pressure on one of my tire and decided to stop in to see what was going on. I heard that other places did it for free I named one in particular. The service rep started trashing the tire shop I named and said they way they fixed flat tires was illegal so thats how they can give it away for free. He then started saying that his location has contracts with a many dealerships and they are extremely professional, and went on explaining that their process is expensive and reliable. I figured ok I'll trust you. I started asking myself how can a someone get away with doing something illegal or doing something unethical without getting shut down. I figure why not and call them, so i did and they explained to me the processes in which they repair tires. After I went back and another service rep told me that I had a leak in my sidewall, he even showed me pictures of the tire (I couldn't tell the difference between a good tire and one with a leak.) showing me a photo means nothing. I need to replace the tire according to him. I have run flats so i understand that they are expensive. They then quoted a price from my dealership and quoted their price of course their price would be cheaper. I then asked what exactly their process in fixed the tire is. He explained it to me. IT WAS THE SAME AS THE TIRE SHOP THAT I NAMED, AND EVERY OTHER TIRE SHOP OUT THERE. These guys lied to me. After I realized they lied I told them I didn't want to get it fixed by them. They said they won't give it back to me unless i replace the tire. I FLIPPED told them that there is no way I will buy tires from them. At this point I Just wanted to get out because I feel like I'm being scammed. They ended up charging me a service inspection fee of 50 bucks (which by the way my girlfriend said its only 20 bucks.) they totally milked me with fear. A day later I went to the tire shop that would do it for free and they took me in and inspected the tire. they then brought me to their work area and gave me a pair of safety glasses to wear. My tire was in a tub of water and the person said there is a leak but it wasn't on the sidewall. It turned out to be the valve I even saw the bubbles come out. They changed out the valve and it has been 4 months and I haven't had any problems. TO ANYONE WHO GOES HERE BEWARE! this is my first post and most likely it will be flagged or removed. I'm a small business owner with yelp reviews, and also a yelp share holder from low 20's. I love this site however I also know how this review board works. One of the headers on the quote/repair order for OK Tire says "Honestly Driven". I naively took my vehicle in to get an assessment of why my vehicle was not steering properly. I figured to get an opinion from "experts". I got a quote for front end work on my vehicle for over $2400.00. I thought this to be high so I took the vehicle back to my regular mechanic and it cost $200.00 for repairs!!! These guys are perhaps on commission or are either just dishonest or incompetant or both. I don't go in for writing reviews like this but this is inexcusable. DO NOT TRUST THIS SHOP. THEY WILL SELL YOU STUFF YOU DO NOT NEED!!! They are CROOKS!!!!!! A second and third opinion verified they were trying to take me for a ride!!! I drive more than 50,000kms per year, mostly in Greater Vancouver. In October, 2014 when I got a random flat in the West Broadway area, I found a local OK Tire as past experiences with the brand had been positive. From the minute I dropped off the tire, I suspected foul play. Blair at the reception made a few comments regarding "if" the tire can be fixed that made me uneasy, like he was setting the stage for something. A few hours later, I received a call to say there was internal damage and it can't be repaired. I told them "thanks, I'll come by and pick it up". However, the kid on the phone would not let me go without telling me of the "options" I had. He went on to say that the same tire was $350, but they could give me a great deal at $279 plus a bunch of nonsense extra charges. Option 2 was to consider 4 brand new tires as mine were "a little warn anyway". When I went back to pick up the tire, their mood toward me had clearly changed, they were borderline rude. I merely indicated that I wanted my tire back and didn't question their claim or diagnosis of the damage. Nevertheless, they immediately got defensive and tried to justify their position. To add insult to injury, I still got slapped with an $18 "inspection" fee. Funny, since the total cost of the repair would only have been $40. Seems like they gambled $20 to hopefully make a few hundred. After leaving the shop, I stopped by a local Fountain Tire. I explained that I had a tire that I suspected might have some internal damage. The guy at the counter came out to take a look and assured me the tire was fine. He then got one of his techs to take a look. The tech pointed out some mild wear on the inside of the tire, but said he fixes much worse everyday. As it was now closing time, Fountain Tire didn't have time to fix it so I went home. The next day I took my car to the dealership and had my regular mechanic take a look. He noted a small amount of internal wear that was typical of the tire going flat and running a few hundred metres while pulling safely off the road. He said there was no reason the tire couldn't be repaired and the internal casing will far outlast the tread. 20 minutes and $50 later, I was back on the road. Since this incident, I have put more than 8,000kms on the tire. I have had no issues and it hasn't lost a single PSI of pressure. Maybe this OK Tire was trying to rip me off or maybe they're just incompetent at their jobs, In any case, I will NEVER trust another OK Tire and they have certainly lost my business for good. read more

If you feel like getting rob, goto this place. I did not research because I had a flat and that is the nearest place. They told me I need new tires which was fine. The guy could not quote me on the spot so I told him to call me. I left the rim after they put on my spare just to insure him that i am coming back. I got a phone call and I explicitly told "him" that I don't want anything that is less that what I had - Toyo Proxy 4 plus. I was going to pay anything because they help me out. Then, I was quoted $483 and got a bill for $680 plus when it was all done. They explained and told me that they need to do the wheel balancing. So, I paid. Then, I find out that I got some cheap Toyo which is no match to what I have?! Then, I find out that the car is going to the right when I take my hands off the whee after they did the 4-wheel alighmentl!? My gal friend asked me to bring it back. Each and every time without fail I leave feeling satisfied and confident with the work that has been suggested and done. If I have had problems with my vehicle they accommodate me quickly. The staff are courteous, the car is ready when promised and I feel prices are very fair. In years past I had taken my car to other shops where I had felt my lack of knowledge regarding my vehicle was taken advantage of, that is definitely not the case at OK Tire. Service is really bad. I went there for tire repair and rotation. After half an hour they called me to pay the bill of $87. They told me that tire has nonrepairable bulges and it should be replaced immediately. When I look at the bill I saw that the guy rotated the bulged tires and charged for that. An absolute joke and rip off. I took my car here to get an out of province inspection and they tried to squeeze every single penny out of me. My car has reliably taken me across the country twice, and though it is old, it has never had one problem and passed safety inspections with everything but a light bulb replacement. OK Tire tried to get over $2,500 of "repairs" out of me to pass this inspection. I took it elsewhere and passed with a minimal repair of $300 for brake pads. Would not recommend. read more

The shop is geared toward serving rich people from Kitsilano (makes sense, given the location) but if you want good value, you won't find it here. Never again. GM is an asshole! I bought some Continental tires here for $300 a piece. Guaranteed for at least 60K. After only 25K they were making a strange squealing sound. As they were under warranty the GM said, "we'll have to mount them on a different set of rims to prove it's the tires and not the rims."...and wanted to charge me $200 to do that. I called Continental in Ontario and they said that was not the correct procedure to undertake and to go about it the correct way but I got nowhere with the GM. He wouldn't listen unless I was going to pay. Never again! read more

I took my Volkswagen to OK Tire on 3rd for years for servicing. These gentlemen are wonderful! Super helpful, very thorough, very friendly. I have never had a bad experience there. If my car was not ready, a loaner was no problem, emergencies were handled quickly and efficiently. Having a new vehicle now, I have recently purchased my winter tires there, again with no worries and will be back for servicing when the warranty expires on my car. These guys are great! read more

I had an excellent experience here after I found a nail pierced through one of my tire's sidewall, making it unrepairable. Mine are tough tires to get a hold of, but OK said that they could get it in by the next day, and at a price that didn't disgust me - as is the usual when buying performance tires locally instead of online. The service fees to mount and balance the new tire was also fair and the staff thenselves were amazingly friendly. I'll be coming back for most of my automotive needs after this experience - it's so hard to find a shop that's knowledgeable and polite nowadays. read more

Last year I had this location replace two Pirelli tires through an ICBC vandalism claim. The tires were 6 weeks old but someone slashed two of the 4 tires. Five months later, I ran over a nail and drove 50 feet to the nearest Tire dealer (Tireland) who noticed there was a defect, a crack around the middle of the tread all the way around of the tire that had just been replaced. I went back to OK Tire at 3rd and Pine to have it replaced. I was told that the other store voided the warranty by" plugging the tire". They sited industry practices chapter and verse and said oh we don't think Pirelli will honour the warranty They put another tire on and charged me $80.00 for inspecting and replacing the defective tire, another recycling charge (the original tire only cost $207 in the first place).I called ICBC Vendor Relations who told me they expect that Pirelli and its retailers should replace this with no charge as they provided a defective product in the first place. I phoned Tireland back who said a plug doesn't void the warranty and this is common industry practice and if they had been the ones to replace the original tire with a defective one they would not charge me anything for labour or the recycling fee as it would have been their mistake. I should have gone here in the first place. I phoned the OK Tire Regional manager who wanted to focus on the nail incident and not the fact that they had sold me a defective tire and refused to take any responsibility for this. There are many other choices for credible, principled retailers. I suggest you take your business elsewhere. read more

incompetent and expensive, spent 2000 dollars there try to get a problem fixed but money was wasted. another shop did it for 500 dollars. go figure. read more
