I'll start off by saying I don't believe in leaving an unfavorable review without first contacting the company and giving them the opportunity to make it right. After several emails with the owner who was completely dismissive with what I had to say, it's clear he is unwilling to do so. I hired 3 servers from Napa Phoenix Staffing for my wedding a few weeks ago. I had just over 60 guests at my wedding and we had wood-fired pizza. The caterer handled the food and buffet table, so the servers did not have a difficult job during dinner. However, not a single server was seen during this time. There were a few things that the servers didn't bother putting out on the tables including knives and a carafe at each table so guests could refill their water. Additionally, the plates and forks weren't all put out so some guests had to look for their own and wound up with plastic ware. They also had to go inside to refill their glasses with water. I rented 75 plates, forks, and knives which was quite a bit more than I needed but I wanted to ensure there were no issues. When the owner Peter responded to my email he told me that we hadn't supplied them with enough plates, utensils, and carafes. The rental company and I confirmed the amount of everything when we picked up the order the day before and when a family friend returned the items after everything was loaded into his car at the end of the night they confirmed that 75 of everything had been returned. So 75 of everything was dropped off at the venue, 75 of everything was loaded up into a different vehicle at the end of the night and returned to the rental company, but the servers and owner maintain there wasn't enough for my 63 guests. There may have been some plates and forks still in the crate or off to the side, but had the servers been present during dinner this issue would have been rectified. They were not. The owner also let me know that his servers said a lot of the work was happening in the kitchen indoors, but food was served outside and 100% handled by the caterers. The venue doesn't allow dishes or utensils to be rinsed off in their sinks, and tables weren't cleared until well after guests had finished. Bartenders handled the bar and all glasses. There was no work to be done in the kitchen. Ultimately, servers are an expensive service to pay for and I'm disappointed (to say the least) that some rentals went unused which was a waste of money, some guests wound up with plastic ware and paper plates, and all guests refilled their own water when I paid to avoid all of these things. Furthermore I'm shocked and disappointed by the owner's response and his complete unwillingness to even believe what I had to say. He dismissed it all and said that he checked with his servers who disputed what I and my guests experienced. It seems the servers account of their own performance was good enough for him to dismiss anything I had to say. After my experience and the owner's overall lack of concern, I would unfortunately not recommend Napa Phoenix Staffing and will be sure to let my family and friends know to utilize another staffing agency for their events. read more

We hired High Hand Staffing for my wedding at Gloria Ferrer Winery since our BBQ caterer was not full-service and we had to staff our wedding with waitstaff. We went with HHS because they offered the most reasonable prices in the wine country area and their very good reviews on Yelp! The owner Peter Wallace is great to work with and answered my emails within the same day. HHS provided full-service including including setting linens, dinnerware, glassware, brewing & serving coffee, cutting & serving cake, and rinsing/organizing all the rental plates & glassware. Peter is 100% committed to customer satisfaction that he even was willing to cover the cost of the missing linens when Bright Event Rentals reported that I was missing 13 napkins and a table drape! read more

Man, I really went into this wedding planning thinking I would be writing a 5 star review about Peter and High Hand Staffing, unfortunately we were promised the moon and stars and ended up with some pretty unfortunate moments and disappointments. If you work with Peter beware. Below are the reasons I would not recommend High Hand -- He provided staff under what he recommended --He told us right before the wedding that many of the services he had promised us would actually be an issue. We had multiple email exchanges but when I tried to call him panicked the week before the wedding to sort things out and get everyone on the same page HE NEVER RETURNED MY CALL or emailed back. --He gave us an event checklist where we would put down what we needed/expected to be set up, this included table decor... then when he received it told us they usually don't do that - that's "usually the florist's job". Well we initially hired his staff because he said they could take care of things like that, so the pushback was disappointing. He did eventually agree to have his staff take care of that but we had to hire two more laborers elsewhere at the last minute to take care of things he had capabilities to do and then wouldn't be able to. --The day of the wedding HE LEFT SHORTLY AFTER HE GOT THERE AND NEVER CAME BACK EVEN WHEN THERE WERE ISSUES WITH HIS STAFF AND THEM COMPLETING THE DUTIES HE PROMISED. Set-up was not even done yet, when he left, and he did not check out with the coordinator or ensure his staff had everything they needed, even though the timeline and needs were sent to HIM and not his servers. He had told us prior that by hiring him and his team, he would be there managing his team. At the end of the night when there were issues of garbage, etc, I stood there as his staff tried to get a hold of him and he eventually texted back that any other issues were our fault. --A server actually came up to me to roll her eyes about the coordinator when I had just sat down at the sweetheart table which I thought was super unprofessional. Maybe if her manager, Peter, had been there and followed the timeline we sent (and that he requested) there would not have been so many issues. She was supposed to be directing you, Peter, not your staff. Chain of Command. --The staff was supposed to assist with bringing the dessert table out to the dancing area during dinner, WITH FORKS FOR THE BRIDES AND SPECIAL CUTTING UTENSILS. This was all listed in detail in the timeline we provided to Peter. None of this happened. We used a butter knife -_- to cut the cake and plastic forks that a guest grabbed for us. This was truly the most disappointing and egregious error, as the desserts and cake cutting are such a staple of a wedding. We spent hundreds of dollars on desserts and they came out so late that our photographers were already packing up by the time it all came out. --The bartender, Trevor, was unfriendly when I, the bride ordered a drink (my one of the entire evening because I was so stressed)... did not even say congratulations or smile at me. Then after the wedding I have multiple accounts from guests that he was handing out entire wine bottles to them!! I told Peter this and his rebuttal was that my coordinator was drunk and the bartender had denied this. THIS IS YOUR CLIENT'S PROPERTY, TREVOR AND PETER. --One of the stressors at the end of the wedding was that Peter had promised that one of their services was to rinse off rental dishes and have them repackaged. NO WHERE on the event checklist does it say we need to provide rinsing station. He saw the venue, he knew there was not a kitchen. He saw our rental list and event checklist, he knew we did not have this equipment and did not make any comments if he needed other things for his staff to perform the services he promised. So I got to deal with a bunch of scared servers at the end of the night who said they had tried to scrape as much into garbage bags as they could, and that Peter told them to just leave it. Then I got to go back and forth with the Peter and the rental company about dirty dishes. --His servers went out of their way to make sure we tipped them in cash, telling my Maid of Honor that if we tip on the invoice, Peter takes their tips and does not distribute to them --After the wedding he was aggressive in emails, unprofessional, sarcastic, and unapologetic. Just a truly disappointing experience, made even more disappointing by the follow up. We really thought High Hand was going to be the best vendor we hired. If you find a company that provides similar services, I would check them out. I will never use this company again. I realize with weddings that there is a social convention that we should be gracious and focus on the good things and etc etc, but I also have realized that that might be why wedding vendors do not have as many poor reviews.
