We just moved to Napa recently and had to find a new dentist. That task alone can be daunting, but they made every step easy for me. I had a fantastic cleaning last week for my first appointment and had a root canal just this morning. So far I have loved every interaction with the staff. They are friendly, make sure you are comfortable, and are incredibly helpful. Mind you, this review is AFTER my root canal lol. The only part that hurt was the numbing shot on the roof of my mouth, but nothing more than what was to be expected. I highly recommend them and I will be back next week for my second root canal.....lucky me? hahaha read more

My husband was in need of a dentist, and he was able to be seen very quickly - he had some x-rays done as well as a consult with the dentist. He's away for work, so I'm glad he was able to be seen relatively quickly - but that's about the only plus side to this visit. He was given an estimate for the work that needs to be done, upwards of $1K (tooth extraction, implant - with insurance only covering $95.00). He didn't want to make a follow up appointment here at Napa Valley Dental Group, since he made an appointment with our home dentist and would be going there for any work to be done. The receptionist told him she'd schedule an appointment anyways, otherwise it would be 3 weeks before he could be seen again. After speaking to our dentist and securing an appointment with them, he called back to cancel the appointment at Napa Valley Dental and was informed there'd be a cancellation fee of $150. When he asked if there's a fee to reschedule, she started to say no, but then changed it to "it would be the same $150 fee" - to reschedule? a little outrageous. In regard to the estimate provided, he was informed that it "could be half of the estimate or you could pay all of it". That doesn't sound right, since we'd essentially be charged the full amount and waiting on insurance to confirm we need to be refunded or not. read more

I have been going to Napa Valley Dental Group for a few years after a bad experience with a previous dental group. I went today for a cleaning and just wanted to share that I had a fabulous experience with dental hygienist Bianca. She was so conscious of how I was feeling and was meticulous and thorough cleaning. You can tell she was very knowledgeable and great wt her job. I left feeling informed with new tips for my personal dental health, which doesn't happen often during a routine visit. The experience that I've had with this dental office has been the utterly most unpleasant. The front desk lady misinforms New patients telling them they will be receiving treatment and procedures done. Then to come into the office after waiting weeks to not get anything and wait 2 more weeks for your next appointment. The level of professionalism is very upsetting, because when you go into a dental office you should feel welcome, staff should be friendly, inform you detail by detail so that you feel safe and at ease for what's to come. I'm in Napa for work and haven't been able to get back to my normal dentist due to covid. Was able to get an appointment in less than 48 hours and the office was very prompt with handling paperwork and even better about staying in communication prior to my arrival. Staff was very courteous and welcoming and frankly I don't believe the prior negative reviews to be fair or honest. There's a new set of rules everyone has to play by, dentists and patients both, so get over it cuz it is what it is. Bianca was my hygienist and she was super kind and gentle... I'm always nervous going to the dentist as is and she made the experience comfortable and painless. Dr Bhullar was also very pleasant to work with. I'll be going here as long as I'm in Napa. In need of a new dentist, I did what most people do: ask around, check 'Find a Dentist' link through my insurance carrier, check Yelp and read a bunch of reviews about the dental group's respective care and cost. I called a few of the offices and settled on this practice after speaking with Susie. She took the time to answer all my questions and address the concern I had about preferring a female dentist. Susie assured me that all of their staff were very professional and while most of the time you are working with a female dental hygienist, their only dentist was male. I decided to book an appointment for the very next day. Susie emailed me all the new patient paperwork so that I could complete it ahead of time. When I arrived the following day, I was greeted warmly by front office staff who were very friendly and efficient. My appointment was at 9AM and I was in the chair meeting with Crystal, the Hygienist, promptly. Crystal was awesome. She was patient, she took her time with me and I didn't feel as if I was on a production line like I have in the past with previous dental offices. Once Crystal finished, Dr. Bhullar arrived. He was warm and friendly and put me at ease. We discussed a conservative treatment plan and it was clear he put my interests ahead of an aggressive money-making path. Once I left the chair, I received a written plan with cost and insurance coverage completely identified. Susie went over everything with me and asked if I had any questions. I didn't. I thought the prices charged here were reasonable and because I needed a crown replaced, loved the fact that I could receive it the same day of next appointment, eliminating the "Here's a temporary crown for you, come back in 6 weeks for the permanent one." I don't know about you, but the less time I am at the dentist office getting dental work done, the better! In summary, if you are at all stressed about about getting you teeth cleaned or worked on, this is the practice for you. I am very grateful to have found Dr. Bhullar and his awesome team! This guy, Dr. Bhullar is the only dentist; it's his practice--it's not a "dental group." He has zero bedside manner and only cares about getting you done quick to move to the next patient in the next room. I must write this review as a warning to anybody who has dental anxiety. I had a tooth removed and it took him nearly an hour, it was hell! He kept berating me for flinching when he yanked and yanked. The socket got infected and I called the office due to overwhelming pain. It was after hours so Dr. Bullhar begrudgingly came in and scolded me for wasting his time. Then, his employee wrote me up a dental plan saying I required $30k in work! Then, to top it off, they fired me! That's right, I got a letter saying they don't want me back. I was a good patient, just scared. He's like a mechanic and only out for profit IMO. Just look at all the marketing and so-called "reviews" they have. I even wrote a good one for my initial exam because his dental assistants were nice; they nearly begged for a good review. They're internet presence is BS! I fear dentists more than ever. I went there 3 years ago and I'm writing this now because I'm still so pissed off! Seeing his Tesla parked there knowing what I went through still chaps my hide. The very worst dental experience I have ever encountered by far...my daughter was getting 2 implants and the 1st time we came in for the final fitting they didn't fit at all because he had his technician do the impression for the new teeth and she messed it up so we had to come back again but my daughter was in Taiwan for an extended visit with family so she had to fly back to Napa as the temporary they installed failed and fell off....after her 14 hour and $1400 flight we got there and the implants did not fit a second time!!!! So she had to stay here another 10 days waiting for the 3rd try to get it right ruining her vacation time with family as she missed 14 days with....my father was a oral surgeon dentist and I assisted him at the chair for years and I never saw a worse run dental practice in all my years!!! Beware this guy is totally unprofessional and possibly even dangerous. Look anywhere else but here!!! read more

If I could give less than one star I would. Dr. Bhullar Was going to give me a crown on top of a cracked tooth. The only way I found out about this was to go back to my old dentist and have him take a look. I have a partial dental plate that would have needed to be adjusted. Unfortunately, the way I see it, he was going to put a crown on a cracked tooth and then in a month or two when that failed pull the tooth and do an adjustment on the partial. The worst dental "office" ever! The Dr is a cheap so called dentist, he tries to up charge you on everything. They dropped our dental insurance supposedly because the insurance doesn't support high standard of care according to him and his front staff however it's more like he wants to over price his cheap dental work. He really shouldn't even have the privilege to be called a dentist. He sucks I had a crown placed and he knew I needed a root canal but instead he decided to place a crown and now has left me with pain and is charging me all over again. The front staff is not appealing they suck, they are the worst at customer service all of them Suzie, Marya and Joan. They never know anything about insurance all they do is put you on hold and never call you back! Dentist Bullar only accepts payment options for his own race anyone who is not his type of race he denies any sort of dental payments. 3/02/22, Wednesday Napa valley dental group Crown placement #30, lower right side #3, upper right side The good....medical assistant Maureen knows how to care for patients. When dentist was administering nerve block with a needle, Maureen was gently tapping my shoulder, which comforted the sting I felt. She made it all tolerable. Dentist was punctual with my appointment. For two crowns installed, it took no longer than 2 hours. This was a quick procedure compared to my first crown at another dentist where I was there for more than 5 hours as only one crown was being installed. Front desk peeps super friendly. Everyone smiling and friendly. I was comfortable being there. And it took me 5 minutes to get there from my house. The dentist location is so close to my house. Now The bad, we'll not bad but needs improvement or just a better technique would've made it more pleasant experience. When the dentist used a drill to start the procedure, omg it was super loud hurting my ears, I asked for ear plugs they didn't have any. Good thing, I had a good pair in my car as I usually have them to help me study for my nursing school. It was not pleasant to go back to my car while half my jaw was numbed up. Another very unpleasant thing that happened was that During the procedure, I was not provided with a mouthgear to support and assist to open my mouth. I had to stretch my jaw wide open for at least 30minutes. At least twice it was mentioned I had a small mouth. I had to take a sleep aid since my jaw was still hurting at bedtime. I just wanted to forget the whole experience. Then once my Procelain crowns were finished baking a technician installed the crowns. I was hoping it would be the dentist. This surprised me. I would have preferred the dentist to start and finish the whole procedure. The tech lady who did it was very nice, but it took her awhile to do it, and she seemed to struggle. I know she struggled because I can compare this experience with my first crown which was done in Am Cyn by the actual dentist and was done effortlessly. I was not hurting afterwards. Again I was made to open my mouth really wide with no support of any mouth gear and this went on fir at least 20 minutes. I know 20minutes doesn't seem long but imagine doing a leg split for that long when you haven't done it in years. It was so uncomfortable. My advice if getting a crown, bring a real good pair of ear plugs and headphones on top of that if you have real sensitive ears. From my experience, I probably would go back to my old dentist in Am Cyn even it if it is quiet a distance from my home in Napa. It's about 10-12 miles away from my home in Napa. The dental place there took awhile to install my porcelain crown but the whole time they were drilling in my mouth I had no discomfort. Zero discomfort and that's priority for me. They had a mouthgear to help support your mouth open, and they provided headphones that blocked the noise as I watched Charlie's angels on Netflix. Yes, They have a tv with Netflix!! Super cool right? A great distraction. So overall, I am 50% satisfied because of the friendly and thoughtful people including the dentist he was kind and gentle. He is very capable with the drill and made the procedure go by fast. And their punctuality was bar none. This dental group really values peoples time. Once I sat on that chair they started working on me. I really appreciate that they did not make me wait. I just wish the details were executed more thoughtfully. I do have some discomfort and I am sure this is normal but to linger even at bedtime is not good for me. My porcelain crowns do look good and they are satisfactory. read more

Sat down with the Dr. I need a lot of work we agreed in the job agreed on the price we shook hands like gentlemen. He we to work. Two implants one crown one 3 tooth bridge. Beautiful staff. I originally went to this office because I needed a cleaning and an extraction prior to some radiation treatment I was scheduled for. The first couple of visits the staff and dentist were pleasant and they worked with me to get the work done quickly. The cleaning was decent but not the best I had ever had ( I am 70 and have had a lot of dental experience in my life) The extraction went ok but he did break a crown that was next to the tooth he extracted and sort of shrugged it off saying it would be ok and not to worry about it. Fast forward several months once my radiation treatment was completed and went to them for a dental inspection and cleaning. Worst experience of my life in a dental office. The person doing the original examination was unfriendly and rough, poking and prodding as if I were just a horse or something (no not even a horse should of been treated that way) Then the dentist himself came in, roughly poking and prodding to the point that there was gum bleeding and pain. He then proceeded to tell me that I needed serious root planing on all my teeth, the crown repaired and a new bridge put in where the tooth was removed. Then he proceeded to do the cleaning himself and by far the absolute worse cleaning experience I have ever had, and totally inadequate. Not feeling good about this experience and his suggested treatment of my gums and roots I went to a dentist that I had used for many years and paid for an exam and they told me that there was no way I needed a root planing (which is very expensive by the way). I also went to my dentist in Mexico and had them to an exam and they also concluded that I did not need the root planing done. Bottom line, this office was just trying to up charge me in any way they could. Very unethical and un professional. Needless to say , never to return. read more

While some might complain about the money and such, I realize that it's a difficult business, involving very expensive (latest) equipment, insurance, rent and staff, and to me, quality care is worth every cent. Let's be real, no one likes going to the dentist. However, the people at Napa Valley Dental Group make going to the dentist MUCH more tolerable. After my very first visit, every single person there remembered my name. I am currently doing Clear Correct with them and have to stop into the office quite often to get new trays, and each time am greeted so politely. Each of the hygienists are wonderful and sweet, they're talkative and very down to earth. Dr. B is also wonderful, very understanding and willing to work with you and your needs. I recently had an examination done from this dentist and they informed me I need an implant. After thinking it through, I decided I felt more comfortable going to an Oral Surgeon for that procedure. This office refused to give me the referral I need to see a specialist. It felt like they were trying to force me to do the (costly) work with them. It's all about the money money money with these people. The dentist has the personality of a wet dishrag. He is not there even when he's there. I recently had implants in Mexico and went to Dr. Buehlers to have them take a look at the work they did. I was charged $180 and in the end the doctor told me I should go back to Mexico. That was it he gave me no information whatsoever and when I asked to have my x-rays sent to my dentist in Mexico they told me that they were unable to do that. So a complete waste of time and a complete waste of money. I do not recommend this place. read more

Ok, I think this dental office deserves a non bias professional review after my experience with the whole team this morning. I came in today for my second appointment. I did not wait long enough to be called and seated for my regular cleaning and scheduled fillings. Mary is love! She is very proficient to her job. She was patiently cleaning my teeth with her gentle hands and touch I almost didn't feel anything at all until she handed me back my glasses saying, "good job, we're done". Then, I went to the next room for my fillings. Dr. Bhullar as again showing his professionalism in greeting me and shaking my hands firmly, I feel comfortable then! Cha Ne and Dr. B operates very smoothly that impresses me a lot! Dr. B really knows his profession, his dedication and approach to his patients is exceptional. He would assure that you raise and ask questions about your mouth and teeth in general. Overall, my experience with NVDG was unprecedented! I've been to many many dentists and this is by far the best experience I've ever had. What really set them apart was how they dealt with my ever growing anxiety of the chair and all things dental work. They listened to my needs, were incredibly patient, informative, and truly cared. The Dr. worked quickly and with such obvious skill that I started to relax in the chair for the first time in my life. Been there for a couple cleanings and went in today for an extraction of a wisdom tooth. couple of pokes with a needle..... some time for the numb to set in.... the DR came in and plucked it out. I used to be Dr. Stratton's patient a few years ago and I was super happy with the service. But then, I got pregnant, and it became hard for me to visit this dental office to continue with my care. It was during that time when Dr. Stratton retired and the office got new owners. After having my baby, I decided to go to a different dental office just because I don't have a car and I needed something closer to where I live. The new dentist wanted me to get the last x-rays that were taken at Dr. Stratton's office, so I decided to go in person to get them, instead of just call (part of the reason for my decision was because I was curious to see if the new staff was as friendly and nice as it used to be). The lady at the front desk wasn't warm at all. She gave me what I wanted, but she treated me rather coldly, as if I was an inconvenience that just walked through the door. That wasn't a good first impression, but I decided to ignore this since I know first impressions are not always accurate when it comes to reality. Fast forward to 2 years after that, my babysitter lives near NVDG, so I thought: "Maybe I should start going to that dental office since it's geographically convenient for me now". I won't lie: I haven't call them yet, but I have used their website's online appointment link twice, but even though I have sent 2 messages, nobody has contacted me after 2 weeks. That reminded me of the cold attitude of that front desk lady, so I'm coming to the conclusion that that first impression wasn't so wrong after all, since they seem to not care about a potential new patient. At this point, I have given up on this office and I plan to go somewhere else. Hopefully, I'll find someone who does care about customer service and making people feel welcomed, just like Dr. Stratton's office used to be. read more

I came in for a regular cleaning and my overall experience was great. The staff was very friendly and greeted me once I came in. Paper work was fast and easy due to the iPad they use. The dental hygienist, Mary, was very thorough with her work and was also fast. Afterwards, my teeth felt great and all the calculus(tartar) was removed. My appointment lasted for only about 45 minutes. Doctor was quick to check my teeth and the overall health of my mouth. I would recommend this place to anyone.
