Napatini Wine Bar is located right next door to Docent Brewing. We went to both places because we wanted beer and wine lol. Napatini Wine Bar is beautiful inside. The way wine tasting works here is you give your credit card to your server in exchange for a wine card and then you go to this self serve wine bar to select which wine you would like to taste. You can get 2 oz of wine, half a glass or a full glass. I love this set up. You get to try a variety of wines and not break the bank. They also serve food to pair with your wine. read more

Great Service and food. Loved the lamb chops and the cheeses we had. The gal that waited on us was excellent. Attentive and prompt in bringing us our food. The bread pudding dessert was fantastic. The owner came by and chatted about wines with us. She lived in wine country in Sonoma for years and really knows her wines. We plan on going back. read more

What a delightful concept. A pour your own wine bar that allows you the ability try varying amounts and different varietals. We are semi regulars, here probably every other week as we live just a few blocks away. The people who man the counter are always friendly and quick to correct any issues (ie. Came in. Looked at the place and thought, huh... this is so boomer. Got the jist from the girl, said, ok, fine let's try a flight. My gut told me let's bail! We are locals and felt this was very tourist oriented. Dumb us... All the wines were nothing to write home about. None were any good really. Not impressed at all. Service was meh! What I mean is it was not good at all. Not even asked if we can have some water or anything. So we drank the wine anyway instead of complaining how bad they were. $60 later...sigh. Ex...pensive. That's like 3 bottles of way better wine than they served us. F! Then the check was requested as we wanted out of there. She could not get that to us, thought for a min we had a another flight. Nope, check, can we go now? Finally got the check and left never to return again! read more

Where has this place been all my life?!? As someone who is beginning their wine journey, Napatini allows me to try a variety of different wines from around the world. You get a card that you swipe, and you can self pour and pay by the ounce. Similar to Barrel Republic if you've ever been there. They have some charcuterie options and they also have some fun events too. I'm looking forward to another trip! read more

While the waitress was very apologetic and professional, nothing (accept for 4 Brie crostini toasts) was available on the menu and that took 30 minutes! I'm not exaggerating here. The menu was one of the reasons we wanted to try. The owner (whose chef was apparently on vacation) should have planned accordingly. We went across the street to a very nice wine bar and they had good food! read more

Had a terrible experience here last night. We were a party of 6, with a reservation. We sat at a table and got ignored for 30 min. We tried waiving someone down and at one point and got cold shouldered. 5 min later some employee comes up and says "oh, why the hell don't you guys have menus" and proceed to throw two menus on our table. This was the breaking point for us. We got up and left. The wine bar down the street, Little Victories, has a much better vibe. Plus, one of their kind employees greeted us immediately. They didn't have a spot available for our party but if you are choosing between the two, Little Victories seems like the play. We ended up landing at Vigilucci's, which is always a good plan. Proceed to have a great night and ran up a tab there. Glad we didn't give any of our money to this establishment. There are plenty of other great bars and restaurants in Carlsbad Village that deserve your business. read more

I love this Carlsbad Village Wine bar and let me tell you why... They have a reasonably priced wine pairing dinner a few times a month! They also have great appetizers and a great selection of different wines where you can purchase a one, three or a six ounce pour! Each month they feature a different Winery. They have indoor seating and outdoor with table heaters. All this plus Lynn, the owner is super sweet and accommodating! read more

I would say this is a pretty romantic little spot, cute, neat, organized wine (& food) place. I didn't pay attention to the food menu. There's some interesting options here - Self service wine. Never heard of that before but I went with the traditional flight. All wines taste excellent. Very smooth. Crackers provided to "wash off" leftover taste of the previous taster. Not crowded on a Sunday afternoon which is great. Restroom is very well maintained and clean. I recommend this place. Of course a good wine place like such isn't going to be cheap but I think it's worth the price. I don't drink often so I can't say I will come back soon but I do enjoy it. Such a cute unique addition to the Village! Came here on a Friday night at 8pm. Unfortunately the kitchen had closed, so if you want bites with your drinks, keep in mind this isn't the ideal spot for evenings. The wine can be poured in tasters, half glass, or full glass. The card and button system made it feel like Dave and busters for adults! Very fun. The technology was a bit glitchy, but service was quick to make things right. Wine is $$$ here & playing like you're at an arcade makes things add up quick, but Napatini is a fun place to try new wines & discover new favorites. read more

Fairly new wonderful bistro of fine wines in downtown Carlsbad. We happened to venture in after reading about Napatini in the Carlsbad Magazine and we're pleasantly surprised! This is the place to casually taste the finest wines on the planet at a minimal cost. This way you don't have to blow your paycheck on something that doesn't excite your palate. Being a Chardonnay Drinker I chose a 1 ounce of Grgich Hill and Rombauer. These wines would be around $16 to $20 a glass. Anyway's this month feature is Chalk Hill and they are a renown winery. Each month it changes! We will be back for more tastings and their charcuterie of cheeses and divine French baguettes. read more

I'm so glad to have found Napatini! This is a beautiful spot just on the edge of Carlsbad Village. They have a featured wine each month for flights or you can sample from their ample "wine wall" which will pour even one ounce tastes for you to try. Everyone there was wonderful and helpful. We love wine, tap bars where you can sample by the glass. They had many of our favorites. Austin, Hope wine, Rombauer Chardonnay, and some Orin Swift wines as well as standards like Duckhorn. A good selection of high-end and mid priced wines love talking to the owner who is knowledgeable and unpretentious. read more

The happy hour here is amazing. If you love a good glass of wine but want the ability to try multiple different bottles without having to drink bottles, this is the place. The appetizers here are perfect as well. The ability to pour smaller amounts and getting to choose which bottle you like is perfect Service here is amazing and friendly. Shout out to Napatini Bistro and Wine Bar on State Street in Carlsbad. Had a chance to visit this weekend. Great wine bar where you can try wine in various pours--at your own pace--using a cool card system. We also enjoyed dinner and dessert. Thanks Gary for turning our evening into a special occasion. I so want to love this place. I keep trying! It's overpriced. Tonight there were some aggressive women at the bar, clearly with the bartender and not from around here considering their attitudes and dress for a Wednesday night in the Village. Left a bad taste in our mouths and won't be going back. Not sure how this place stays in business, it's usually empty. Docent next door is rad though and has a great vibe! read more

We have lived in Carlsbad for several years and after many disappointing wine experiences, we finally decided to give Napatini a chance. The name/logo was a bit off-putting since it seems kind of outdated. Initially I thought it was a cheesy place trying to capitalize on the Napa association, but I was wrong. It turns out to be a hidden gem for wine lovers. We used to live in the Bay Area and had access to some of the best wineries in the country. We have been members of many wine clubs over the years, so we appreciate a decent wine selection. Napatini's wine is not inexpensive, but they have great selections and it's fun to taste wine that we normally wouldn't purchase (rare or expensive). The charcuterie was a surprise since it was affordable and delicious. It almost ruined our dinner, so next time I will probably just bring some friends for "girl dinner." I should mention that this place was recommended by a non-wine enthusiast who thought the wines seemed good, but she wasn't sure (which tells me this is great place to bring any type of wine drinker). read more

Adorable new wine bar in Carlsbad village. They are dog friendly inside! Each day of the week they offer different specials. They have a wine bar that you can pour from (kind of like barrel republic) and you can choose your preset ounce pour. The wine at that bar is displayed through a glass case. I got a white wine flight and my boyfriend got a glass of the reserve cab. We both thoroughly enjoyed. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I was excited to check this place out with my friends and to celebrate my bday! Their biggest table was available so I snagged that for us. There is limited seating in there, but a nice patio. I think there might be fire pits out there, too! We got a large charcuterie board for the table and all enjoyed the wine and cool vibes. We were a little concerned the prices were not available for the wine wall, but they are actually listed. There's a nice variety. You can also order flights or bottles. Be careful not to mix up your cards if there's a bigger party. That way everything is separate when the bill comes. The owner was able to help us separate the bill and everything. Yep, I'm still a member here. I've been doing better about showing up at least once a month to enjoy a tasting with a friend or two. I joined the cheese club for about a year and a half but I was the only member I ended up canceling because I could just buy the cheese when I wanted it Carruth Solana Beach has fun events throughout the week. I know they're set days and the calendar but I like to be excited surprised every time I go so I never know what I'm getting into. There is trivia night which is free. I don't officially play, but I quietly play. They have food vendors coming in. All local usually pizza or cheese or something fun. The staff has changed over a bit over the years. Everybody is so friendly and makes it feel like a neighborhood hang out spot other than the wine that warm feeling is my favorite part about coming here. This venue is closing a gap that we have in Carlsbad - a place where locals and visitors can go to and watch great live music, dancing, comedians, and huge variety of entertainment options. Location is perfect (on PCH in Carlsbad) and in the center of activity. I was pleasantly surprised by the chewy texture of the complimentary bread offered at Paon, and one bite took me back to the streets of Paris where I strolled along the Seine River munching on my baguette. Our waiter only offered one small piece each, so I had to ask for a second piece. If my meal were just the bread alone, this would have been a 5-star review. Unfortunately, my dining experience declined after the bread... I ordered the Organic Beet Salad, and it was a disappointing stack of 3 round pieces of beets, each 1/4 inch thick and 2 inches in diameter, topped with arugula and small pieces of pistachios sparsely scattered on the plate. My friend and I looked at each other and asked, "what happened to the rest of the salad?!" Seriously, $21 for 3 pieces of beets?? My friend ordered the French Onion Puree for $19 and got a regular sized serving so we continued to ponder what happened to my beet salad. It was the joke of the evening. This dish was an unconventional spin off the traditional French onion soup, and sadly, while it was a creative idea, it failed to deliver in taste. My favorite thing about French onion soup is the gooey gruyere cheese. There was a small dollop of melted brie on top and that was it. It was a disappointment, but not nearly as sad as my beet salad. For my entree, I ordered the Pan Seared Chilean Sea Bass $55. The fish was very tender, but the dish itself was extremely buttery and oily. I ordered this dish because I wanted something healthy, but it turned out to be a very heavy dish. The basil beurre blanc was just too overwhelmingly rich. My friend ordered the Seared Rare Hawaiian Yellowfin Tuna $52. The execution on this dish was better than mine. For dessert, we shared a Creme Brulee $18. We did not like this dessert because it was room temperature and tasted like it had been sitting out for hours. We like it chilled but with the hard sugary glaze. The top wasn't torched enough. Overall, while we enjoyed the ambiance, we did not really care for the food (except the amazing bread). Seeing how much we enjoyed the bread, it would've been nice had our waiter been more generous and offered us more bread. A good server would be more proactive and not wait to be asked.

I came into the store on a Saturday back in April and described what I was on the hunt for: Fruit forward, vibrant, with a little spice. The very nice man working there that afternoon suggested several wines, including the 2023 Roar Rosella's Vineyard from Santa Lucia Highlands in Monterey County. I was sold. The wine made it back safe and sound to South Carolina. Just opened it up this afternoon. In a word: perfect. The wine is everything he described it to me. Thankful for his time and attention.
