Napatini Wine Bar is located right next door to Docent Brewing. We went to both places because we wanted beer and wine lol. Napatini Wine Bar is beautiful inside. The way wine tasting works here is you give your credit card to your server in exchange for a wine card and then you go to this self serve wine bar to select which wine you would like to taste. You can get 2 oz of wine, half a glass or a full glass. I love this set up. You get to try a variety of wines and not break the bank. They also serve food to pair with your wine. read more

What a delightful concept. A pour your own wine bar that allows you the ability try varying amounts and different varietals. We are semi regulars, here probably every other week as we live just a few blocks away. The people who man the counter are always friendly and quick to correct any issues (ie. We are locals and felt this was very tourist oriented. Dumb us... All the wines were nothing to write home about. None were any good really. Not impressed at all. Service was meh! What I mean is it was not good at all. Not even asked if we can have some water or anything. So we drank the wine anyway instead of complaining how bad they were. $60 later...sigh. Ex...pensive. Had a terrible experience here last night. We were a party of 6, with a reservation. We sat at a table and got ignored for 30 min. We tried waiving someone down and at one point and got cold shouldered. 5 min later some employee comes up and says "oh, why the hell don't you guys have menus" and proceed to throw two menus on our table. This was the breaking point for us. We got up and left. The wine bar down the street, Little Victories, has a much better vibe. Plus, one of their kind employees greeted us immediately. They didn't have a spot available for our party but if you are choosing between the two, Little Victories seems like the play. We ended up landing at Vigilucci's, which is always a good plan. Proceed to have a great night and ran up a tab there. Glad we didn't give any of our money to this establishment. There are plenty of other great bars and restaurants in Carlsbad Village that deserve your business. read more

Such a cute unique addition to the Village! Came here on a Friday night at 8pm. Unfortunately the kitchen had closed, so if you want bites with your drinks, keep in mind this isn't the ideal spot for evenings. The wine can be poured in tasters, half glass, or full glass. The card and button system made it feel like Dave and busters for adults! Very fun. The technology was a bit glitchy, but service was quick to make things right. I would say this is a pretty romantic little spot, cute, neat, organized wine (& food) place. I didn't pay attention to the food menu. There's some interesting options here - Self service wine. Never heard of that before but I went with the traditional flight. All wines taste excellent. Very smooth. Crackers provided to "wash off" leftover taste of the previous taster. Not crowded on a Sunday afternoon which is great. Restroom is very well maintained and clean. I recommend this place. Of course a good wine place like such isn't going to be cheap but I think it's worth the price. I don't drink often so I can't say I will come back soon but I do enjoy it. Fairly new wonderful bistro of fine wines in downtown Carlsbad. We happened to venture in after reading about Napatini in the Carlsbad Magazine and we're pleasantly surprised! This is the place to casually taste the finest wines on the planet at a minimal cost. This way you don't have to blow your paycheck on something that doesn't excite your palate. Being a Chardonnay Drinker I chose a 1 ounce of Grgich Hill and Rombauer. These wines would be around $16 to $20 a glass. Anyway's this month feature is Chalk Hill and they are a renown winery. Each month it changes! We will be back for more tastings and their charcuterie of cheeses and divine French baguettes. read more

We have lived in Carlsbad for several years and after many disappointing wine experiences, we finally decided to give Napatini a chance. The name/logo was a bit off-putting since it seems kind of outdated. Initially I thought it was a cheesy place trying to capitalize on the Napa association, but I was wrong. It turns out to be a hidden gem for wine lovers. We used to live in the Bay Area and had access to some of the best wineries in the country. We have been members of many wine clubs over the years, so we appreciate a decent wine selection. Napatini's wine is not inexpensive, but they have great selections and it's fun to taste wine that we normally wouldn't purchase (rare or expensive). The charcuterie was a surprise since it was affordable and delicious. It almost ruined our dinner, so next time I will probably just bring some friends for "girl dinner." I should mention that this place was recommended by a non-wine enthusiast who thought the wines seemed good, but she wasn't sure (which tells me this is great place to bring any type of wine drinker). read more

Adorable new wine bar in Carlsbad village. They are dog friendly inside! Each day of the week they offer different specials. They have a wine bar that you can pour from (kind of like barrel republic) and you can choose your preset ounce pour. The wine at that bar is displayed through a glass case.
