I went with my daughter and her boyfriend - the staff was experienced and helpful, and our trip down the river lasted about an hour and 40 minutes. We had plenty of time to take pictures, splash around, and enjoy each other's company. It was a great blend of relaxation and exercise. Oh, and my wife hurt her arm and couldn't go - I casually asked if we could get a credit since we couldn't find anyone last minute to replace her, and they gave us a full refund. Easy, safe location to park where Naperville Kayak staff met us, drove us up river to second set of staff who sent us on our way! All staff were friendly and professional. We went down stream at our own pace and saw them easily at the end spot, which is a short walk (~6 min) to original parking but also had option for them to drive us. My wife and I rented a single kayak each for a 105 min (3.9 mile) downstream kayak trip down the DuPage River. It was easy to reserve, schedule, meet, get dropped off, and later, get picked up by their helpful and courteous staff. FYI, as of early July 2024, the river level appears to be 1-3 ft lower than it should be based on the river banks. So there are several shallow points where you may run aground. I had a great time with Naperville Kayak last weekend. It was super easy to book online, and the prices are affordable. I booked a tandem for an hour for $30. When you arrive, you have to park across the street near the baseball fields and find their tent near the pond. The employees are very helpful, good communicators, and friendly. I didn't realize the kayak rentals were for the Lisle Park pond which is small but the website clearly shows the pond on their map, so that was my fault. I think I could have spent 30 minutes and gone around the pond twice. read more

It was 85 degrees and sunny. I thought it was going to be a brutal day, but the water and the breeze ameliorated the temperature providing a pleasant experience. I saw a half dozen egrets, countless ducks, a cormorant, and more swallows that you could shake a stick at! The 4-mile trip was peacul while at times challenged my river reading skills. At the beginning and end of the trip Tom was helpfull. He got me in and out of the kayak and provided me with everything I needed. All I had to do was paddle. He was also very freindly as well. I will repeat this trip this season God willing, and definately reccomend it to others! read more

My dad and I went kayaking on a Whalon through this company. We had the kayak for about 90 minutes for $60 ($30 per kayak). We made our reservation ahead of time and it was pretty easy to have everything filled out online. Also, it made the check in process a lot faster, so I would recommend doing it this way if you do decide to go through this company. The checkout tent was very difficult to find. We had to drive around the parking lot and go to a few different areas until we finally saw a tent with their logos. I wish they had signs within the park you could follow. The check in process was very easy because we had already taken care of the waiver and reservation online. The boats were sturdy and didn't easily tip over. The lake was very easy to navigate as well. It doesn't take an entire day, but it was a fun way to spend some time on a Saturday. read more

We had a great time kayaking the west branch of the DuPage river. Starting at Knoch Knolls and finishing at Book and 111th, we spent 1.5-2 hours floating downstream. With the "higher" water of early June we were able to explore the inlets. We saw many different birds and a young buck. read more

We took a trip on Friday 7/12 and Naperville Kayak was off their game from start to finish. We had a 2:00 trip and got to Zion at 1:30 - nobody showed up from the rental place. Finally they did but they were the shuttle. The orientation person never showed. Nobody to take our information or give us details about the trip. We were first timers and got zero direction. They cancelled the 10:00 trip and lumped everybody into the 2:00 - 2:30 trips. Only 2 vehicles (no van) that fit 3 and 6 people were available to transport and there were 24 people waiting. We didn't leave the parking lot until 2:30 when our trip was supposed to start at 2:00. The shuttle people were nice but didn't have a clue what was going on other than driving us to the launch sight. We were told there would be signs on where to get off - no signs. Poor guy standing in the water waving his arms so we could tell where to get off. The trip itself was nice. We enjoyed it once we got in the boats. Two kinds of boats - you sit on top or sit in the boat - in case you have a preference. Definitely wanted the sit in the boat. Maybe it was an off day for Naperville Kayak but it was an hour + of frustration and aggravation in the blazing heat before we even started a 4 mile river trip. read more

Great experience! Looking into investing into a kayak for myself and my boys. Decided I would try this place along with my 10y/o to see if he would enjoy kayaking before making an investment. Luckily found a Groupon. Check in was a breeze. Went along to ride a tandem kayak due to my son's 1st time. Within 5min of being on the water my son loved it and now is a fan of kayaking! Safely greeted and transported customers with masks on. Helmets are needed with all the rocks in the river for paddle boarding. We chose to paddle board and while the river is clean and flat, it is a long and hard journey thru the three bridges to the end. Lots of seaweed prevents an easy paddle and there is not much flow to the river. Took us almost 3 hours without much shade to the end. Kudos to the company but the DuPage River disappoints. read more

They're super helpful with letting you know where the takeout point is and how to get back to your car after the trip has concluded. We just finished kayaking with Naperville Kayak. Sure, the scenery was pretty. But the customer service was lacking. We are currently waiting for our uber still (it has been 25-30 min) and the girl we are waiting with hasn't said a word to us or told us how long it would be. When we first arrived to the pick up location, we didn't even know who we were supposed to be meeting. She was sitting down, didn't have a uniform shirt on, and let us walk all the way past her to the kayak truck. Had a great experience paddle boarding down the dupage. For a river trip, its a pretty unique mix of beautiful homes, downtown architecture and nature. The whole trip takes about 1.5 hours which is way less commitment than the typical river trip. Great service. Will definitely be back. read more

Where should I begin first off they told us that Naperville downtown river was closed due to water being too shallow . so our only choice left was Oswego river which was 30 min away from downtown Naperville. Once we got on the river and started kayaking we noticed the water was too shallow we kept getting stuck with the rocks underneath and not only that we also encountered a grocery cart below the water which got stuck to our kayak. Once I saw a grocery cart under water I knew this place was downhill. Do not go to the Oswego location it is very filthy and not worth your drive or time spent. Save your money and try Chicago downtown kayaking instead. read more

They say it's 1 hour and arrive at downtown Naperville. First off it's not guided, doesn't go down the Naperville downtown and isn't 1 hour. This took us 4 miles down by Plainfield in the middle of no where. It look 2 hours and then you have to wait forever to have a Uber pick you up. The "river was so low that I could stand ankle deep in the water and we got stuck st least 4 times on the rocks because it was so low. I would never ever recommend this place. Life vests smells horrible and took way too long. I didn't get what we paid for. read more

My experience with this company was completely awful. I had a group with a total of 7 people. We arrived and "checked in" at 12:30. The boy wrote our name down on a sheet and said it would be a 45-60 minute wait. We went to get lunch and arrived back at Pioneer Park around 1:30. The boy then told us that we were going to have to wait another 20 minutes. 20 minutes then turned into 2 hours. At 3:15, the worker told us that the truck with the kayaks had to be loaded and then he would call the Uber to take us to the top of the river. The boys loading the truck were taking their sweet time doing it. Once we said something about how long we had been waiting, the workers started making up excuses. They said that they are a "first come first serve" company but groups that came after us had gone kayaking before us. Both of the administrative workers started to give us attitude when they were in the wrong. Once we got to the top of the river, the employees were very nice and had a good system going, unlike the ones at the bottom. The kayak trip down the river was very enjoyable, but the wait time was not. Do not plan on going here unless you have/want to waste a whole day waiting. read more
