Manhattan Clam Chowder. So easy and delicious!

Awesome "Little Mermaid" seafood themed class today with my 9-year-old daughter. I have been coming to these classes with my husband and kids for 6 years, and I have never been disappointed. I am always amazed at the wonderful food and service, and the great tips I learn about cooking. This time, my daughter was just as amazed and she commented when we left that she feels like everyone who works here really loves her, like her own family. You really will feel like part of the family and enjoy yourself so much if you come to a cooking class here. I recommend this place to everyone! Tip: use the sale codes on the website and sign up for emails to hear about sales.

I've got mixed feelings. We have done 3 other cooking classes in the past here. We feel like each time we've come it's gotten less professional/worth it. We did the Mulan cooking class "with the movie" and we had Chef Sara leading the demonstration. Chef Hassi shared a few comedic moments, and Chef Art shared about their vodka. We came with a big enough group to not share our cooking station with others. Groups are about 6-10 people. BRING YOUR OWN APRON + TUPPERWARE Pros: - we learned a few great things during the demonstration - it was nice to taste the food during the demonstration. - the food we cooked tasted great. If you agree with your group, you can remove some recipe items. - the decor is really nice Cons: - aprons are required and it is a $5 charge if you do not bring one, or you can bring one for home. - each take home container was 50¢. - each soda refill is charged ($3 a glass) - the space felt a bit cramped and cluttered. - sales pitches for vodka + the cruise. - they pressured us to buy extra dessert, which is costly. - They never played Mulan!!! Instead we watched a YouTube video of some guy trying unique foods in China; our group booked because it was the Mulan class. TLDR; Use the coupon code on the website, bring your own apron, bring your own Tupperware. It feels like the business could be struggling and they are looking to get money where they can. I would've been upset had I paid the full $100+ price.

Cooking Class for One with Meal Groupon Voucher/Redemption Code purchased last year, and had some issues getting it to work on their website to sign up for a class early this year before it expired. I emailed per their FAQs and got a reply within 5 days with a customized code that did work successfully. The Groupon cost me $32 and gave a $150 discount, except for a $8 service fee per person. Full cost of the class is $158.00 before Groupon. Small parking lot but additional in the back. These classes do tend to sell out/waitlist far in advance, but their calendar does seem to have a lot of different international cuisines (Chinese, French, Italian, Russian, Pizza-Making, Indian, Hungarian, Moroccan, Mexican, Vegetarian, Thai, Cajun, Austrian, etc.). Goodfellas movie theme/tie-in menu (Italian), Cooking with the Movies Series. This was playing on one of the screens during dinner. Other "Cooking with the Movies" films include From Russia With Love, Casablanca, Coco, The Sopranos, The Untouchables, Princess and the Frog, Tangled, Garfield, Ratatouille, Beauty & The Beast, Lady & The Tramp, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Mulan, Sound of Music. Menu: 3- courses: pasta e fagioli, meatballs and sauce with spaghetti and garlic roll, and orange zest cannoli (ricotta). Bring your own apron, otherwise $5, bring your own Tupperware for leftovers. No outside food or drink except birthday cake. Checked in with chef Marc at the front. There were 25-30 people in the class total. Restrooms in the main dining area were 2 stalls per gender, 2 sinks. When needing to wash hands there were these restrooms, a small sink in the demo area, and the actual kitchen. Class was scheduled for 4:00 PM, but started late. Water carafes complimentary, and two other staff/students provided drink menus if you wanted to order any alcohol or other beverages. They also gave samples of their Persian 7000 corn vodka out of Missouri (110 proof, 55% ABV). Bottles for purchase. Chef Sara took orders for desserts (take-home) that were also available for purchase ($10-$12), such as slices of cheesecake, limoncello, tiramisu, Napoleon, or cannoli (marscapone). Chef Hassim began with introductions/history about the nonprofit academy and cafe, and students in their culinary arts/hospitality diploma program for high school graduates (also junior/youth, young adult, scholarships for low-income or at-risk kids). He then did a live demonstration of each dish, with a headset microphone and a camera capturing onscreen a birds-eye view of the action. He did call on people to help assist (1-2 per dish). The soup was cooked to completion on the single burner, while the meatballs were assembled and added to the stock but finished in the big kitchen. The cannoli shells were already made but the demo was filling the pastry bag with the orange ricotta and piping onto the plate. We got to sample the soup and garlic roll before starting the real thing. After the demos/tips regarding cooking oil, internal temperature for the beef, etc., the big group was split into three teams (red, green, and blue) with 8-10 people each. Within the team, we were self-assigned to different stations: the soup, the meatballs, or the desserts. #BlueTeam This part was very crowded/cramped. Desserts were being made out in the demo area, but in the kitchen layout, we didn't have much counter space room for making the meatballs. We had two burners for the soup and meatball sauce but were right up next to the green team (red was across from us). Behind us were the shelf of seasonings, ladles, taste testing spoons, etc. Very tight. Gloves provided for volunteer helpers making the meatballs during the demo but not in the kitchen, but everyone washed hands. I didn't get any photos inside the kitchen mainly because of the clean hands and I was on meatball station. The kitchen staff did the actual plating and pasta, garnish, croutons, garlic roll, etc. and each course was served team by team on carts, plates cleared between courses by staff. Each team got to eat what they prepared, although the amount of actual hands-on in the kitchen was limited by number of people and what was already pre-made. The soup was filling, and I only finished half of my spaghetti and meatballs. The cannoli was also nice. Took home the tiramisu and leftover pasta. The tiramisu and other desserts were all primarily made by Chef Sara; the tiramisu was very good. Chef Hassim gave us all a promo code to use for 50% our next class. There were a few people in my class that had been there before, more than once, but a majority were first-timers. We were done by around 7:30ish PM, with the late start, so if you weren't planning on more than 3 hours at class, be aware. If you purchase any drinks on tab or desserts to go, you can tip there with card, otherwise they did have a collection bowl for cash tips too. Overall it was a fun, easy activity in a group setting, and the food was good.

Did a movie cooking experience as a work team building activity and found it was not worth the price tag. The movie played at the start of the demonstration and at a random point, it was paused for introductions to the space. The program for the night was not communicated and it felt quite frazzled. The food demonstration was not actually led by the head chef so that felt misleading. After the demonstration, you're led to the kitchen to remake the two dishes you just witnessed. It's nice that things were portioned but it made the experience less engaging. The rest of the movie is played while you enjoy your dishes, which by the way did not match the food served in the movie. Dessert was sold to us which made it seem like it was the end. It was not. This place might be nice for a date night if you're willing to throw away money for mediocre food.

Genuinely a 10/10 experience! I've taken two cooking classes here and had such a fun time. Everyone in coordination with the cooking class is a gem. Chef Hassi is a treasure! There's parking available, just other businesses nearby. I recommend getting there early to be able to have front row parking. Also, bring your own apron but you can purchase one there if you forget. After getting checked in, you can order a drink while waiting for everything to get started. Chef Hassi will demonstrate what you'll be cooking. He usually calls some people up to help assist. Once everything is cooked, you get to cook in groups! This is where the fun begins in my opinion. After working in groups, you get to eat the food you just cooked. These classes can take a few hours but it's such a joy. You won't leave hungry! I recommend watching the website for changes. They sometimes add classes or offer discounts. It's better to purchase through them than Groupon. Overall, I really enjoyed the cooking classes here. The food is amazing and I've got some new recipes under my belt.

Took my daughter to one of the pizza making classes there and we had a wonderful time! The staff were really great, the chef was fun and the food tasted amazing. We will definitely be taking another class!

Got this as a gift for my husbands birthday. I paid on Groupon. We did the Goodfellas movie night. We had 3 different courses. Soup, main, dessert. The demo was super fun. Very interactive. Cooking was so much fun as well. Thank you Chefs.

I have been here multiple times for classes. If i had to pick some favorites.... pizza class! Learning to make delicious meatballs! Minestrone soup, chefs kiss, delicious ( we made it at home after, easy to duplicate! ) Take home deserts, yes please! Chef Hassi, Sarah, and Mark are the nicest most welcoming people. The pizza class was one of my first outings after becoming disabled and it's really become a safe space for me. Last night i got to take my mom from tennessee and it was a great time! My son has also enrolled as a student! i have been many times and highly recommend it.

We did a school field trip here with high schoolers and it was a fantastic experience! All the staff were very knowledgeable, helpful, and kind! Our pizzas turned out perfect!

Napoli is the best place for a date night. You get to sip on wine (or your drink of choice) while learning how to make a dish. The chef was such a character when presenting which enhanced the experience. We attended the chicken Alfredo lasagna and cannoli class. We learned knife skills and how to fold the pasta. The students that are going through the academy watched and learned along with us. The chef started with the presentation and then we went into the kitchen with our team to create our own. The lasagna came out delicious!! We will definitely be making it at home like this from now on. Who knew it could be that easy?

My mom got me a Groupon to a cooking class for my birthday and we had so much fun learning how to cook Moroccan food together! The location is a bit shady and set up inside is kinda funky. They made us wait like 40 minutes to start while latecomers arrived. Please be on time if you sign up to attend a class, because everyone will have to wait for you to get there if you're late. Once the class started, we quickly became friends with the couple sitting next to us. We got to watch a demonstration of the teacher cooking the recipes, and then split into groups to make them ourselves. We enjoyed a generous sized meal at the end- I couldn't finish it all! We enjoyed a soup, chicken tagine, and baklava. We left with copies of the recipe. Housemade desserts were available for purchase at the end. This place would make a great date night!

I assure you I can follow the directions on a Mac and Cheese box, a package of Top Ramen, or cake mix recipe. But besides that, I was pretty lost in the kitchen. I know it sounds pretty pathetic to some, but in this fast paced world we live in, I just never got those lessons from my parents before I left home. Eating out all the time can be pretty fun, but after awhile you crave a good home cooked meal. I've been fortunate enough to have people in my life that always knew how to cook. But it never felt right to put that kind of burden on the other person to always be the one to cook all the time. So I decided to it was time to reverse the course of my life and start taking cooking classes. After meeting Mayumi though Learning Exchange, I was intrigued to find out she also offered personal cooking lessons. So, I signed me and my eldest son up (whose 13 years old). Mayumi will come to your house (pretty much anywhere in the greater Sacramento area-including El Dorado hills and Roseville). And she will teach you (and up to a party of 6) how to prepare and cook four recipes. She also covers what's good to keep in the pantry, how to save money on groceries, and what are the best cooking items to make sure to have on hand. I was thoroughly impressed. I love her style of teaching lessons. She keeps things as simple as possible so that even beginners like me feel like it's something not impossible to learn. I can now stir fry meat, cook pasta with shrimp and veggies in it, the best mashed potatoes you've ever had, and make a delicious Greek salad to go with it. My son did an awesome job. We will be making these recipes again soon so that he'll really be able to do these on his own as well. I suddenly feel a new inspiration in me to try new recipes that I never had before. I feel more confident that the kitchen is not a place to fear but a place to bring people together and make happy memories. If you haven't heard of Fork & Knife Creations I highly recommend checking out the website and reading up on all the wonderful things Mayumi has to offer. It's definitely worth the investment of time and money!

The food is a leap of faith: sometimes they knock it out of the park and on a few occasions it was average. But I've always LOVED something (or more than a few) things on my plate. They are much more accomodating regarding dietary restrictions, the veggies are fresh and so are the desserts! The desserts are to die for...you MUST leave space for dessert or else you'll hate yourself as you drool over something about to be devoured at another table. Last week I had a great chicken tagine and for the sweet stuff - chocolate lava cake with raspberry drizzle...OMG it was LUSCIOUS! Also, I took a friend to lunch here and as it was her birthday I asked the servers to sing "Happy Birthday" when they brought her dessert out. They did one better, they sang and wrote "Happy Birthday" on her plate in chocolate! You are NOT going to get this kind of food value in Stockton, I guarantee you. Having grown up one half Chinese, some of the teachings of stereotypes of the Chinese were confirmations of what actually happens. For instance, the part of dining out when the bill comes was almost verbatim what comes out of the mouths where I've eaten. The lectures are informative enough that I'm going to continue to attend them. At one workshop I was taught about steamed bao, including the tasty parts where I assembled and ate them. I look forward to sitting in on a tea lecture, as that's been (and still is) a huge part of dining out. My grandparents have been desensitized to my American methods of eating Chinese food, but I learned that even though quite effective, one should not stab his/her food with chopsticks in order to obtain it. And resting your chopsticks on the plate is a no-no as well. They go where a fork would go, on a rest if available. Overall, I find these lectures to be more interesting than anything else because I learn a fair amount about why I've done what I've done for the last 36 years as well as some of the reasons behind those actions. Next up: tea.
