Woof, woof, woof, yes this cafe is very doggy friendly and the dogs I have met here have always been rather friendly, they also have a doggy cage for your beloved dog. And they are also child friendly and have a play pen with all sorts of toys for them to play with, high chair also available. They sell cakes, muffins, pies, sandwiches and also freshly made food like omelettes, toasties, chips, as well as coffee, hot and cold drinks. I ordered a delicous feijoa frappe and omelette which was also very good. They also have a range of ice-creams just great for that hot summer day next to the beach. While they are situated right next to the beach, they don't have a view of the beach (the boat club blocks the view), but its only just a few steps away, so you can get your takeaway coffee or cold drink and enjoy it on the beach instead.

Great little beach cafe with top notch food and coffee. Very dog friendly and more than enough dogs around to barrow one for the visit.

Had been planning to get to this place for ages with my girlfriend, and we finally got our act together and made our way down for a naughty unhealthy dinner and find a nice spot to enjoy it. I have to say I don't think I've had a better fish 'n' chips experience outside an actual restaurant than we did here. The fish was fresh, and the batter not stodgy and heavy, nice and light, and the healthy dose of chips made for a pant-stretchingly good meal. Definitely glad we decided to try it, and will be back again for sure.

The Takapuna Fish Shop is my go-to fishmonger - there's not many on the shore but I've always found…read morethe fish fresh and the price right. However, after my takeaways tonight, i'm not as sold on their fish and chips. Sure they're cheap and it's conveniently located 5mins walk from a beach but I found their fish to be dry (overcooked?) and the batter stodgy. On the plus side the chips where well salted and crunchy, and the owner is always so lovely - very chippa, with a smile on his dial. Whilst T.F.S will continue to be my fishmonger of choice, with sooo many fish and chips shops to try, I think i'll go elsewhere to indulge in this kiwi classic in the future.

After sitting in the SkyBar in the Tower, it was time for dinner and I spotted this place (from…read moreYelp, not from the window). A short walk and a few minutes later, beer in hand. I found a comfy spot in the back, connected to their wifi and checked in for tomorrow's flight back to the USA. And then dinner. I ordered the fish and chips which was the biggest piece of fish ever. Crispy battered outside, light and flaky inside. Super hot from the fryer and with enough delicious fries to float a battalion. Wifi was speedy and the seating was comfortable and I'm just a little bit sad that my New Zealand adventure is coming to a close. [Review 531 of 2024 - 176 in New Zealand - 21563 overall]

While walking back to where my wife was shopping, I got lucky and walked by this place! This place got extra credit because it was much needed after my wasted walk. Quality/Quantity - Good selection of beers on tap. They offer samples if asked. Liberty Knife Party IPA - # 1 seller and an "always" on tap beer. 7.1% so beware. This was good, very smooth. Almost did not even taste like an IPA, not too hoppy. Eddyline West Coast IPA - 7.3%, wow this was even smoother. Borderline dangerous drinking this as it went down too easily. I cut myself off after this second beer (third one for the day). Beer flights are also available. Atmosphere - They cater to the locals here, perfect for me. :) Cool decor, sorry I should have taken more pictures. 7+ weeks out here and I still do NOT have an Australian or New Zealand accent, LOL. Indoor/outdoor seating. No people watching as it is a weekend, a Saturday today. They mainly cater to the local downtown businesses. Free wifi, but you need a password; just ask. Open 7 days a week from 11:30am to 10pm. Service - Good. Price - $28.50 NZ, approximately $8.55 US per beer. Expensive for a non tourist area... Owner Comment - Congrats on your success.
