Perfect area. First time kayaking, went on a Tuesday for $30 an hr. Good parking but only Portopotties. Life vest included. Little store on site with tshirts and bags for your phone to keep dry. Accommodated us without reservations which was amazing. Definitely a highlighted experience I recommend to all. Motorized boat was in the water with kayakers and they were going fast which caused us to bop around, was a bit scary for someone who can't swim in open water so keep that in mind if you're nervous around water. read more

This place was great! We rented a house right down the road and it was very convenient but it's only a 5 minute drive from downtown Narragansett as well. The check-in process was very efficient. We filled out some forms in one area, paid in another, and then got our kayak in another. We went from parking to being in our kayak in about 5 minutes. Note that we got there about an hour after it opened so it wasn't that busy yet. We drove by later in the day and it was packed, so I'd say the earlier you can get there the better. It was also hot so water, sunglasses and hats are helpful. Kayaks are in good condition and it's about a 20 minute paddle south to the north end of the Narragansett town beach. There are also motor boats around but most were very nice and gave us plenty of room. There's lots of wildlife around especially birds so would be good for pretty much anyone. Would highly recommend and would definitely go again. read more

Outstanding service. Phenomenal views. Rent a kayak and just walk to the river's edge and hop in. During Covid, you must wear a mask but just take it off when you paddle away from the launch. Go left towards the beach or right to check out the river and the homes that line it. Watch out for jet skis or motor boats. They have the right of way. For less traffic, paddle early am on a weekday or during a cloudy day. There's a lot to see, but plan your time wisely. You'll most likely be against the current one way. We've never taken the guided tours, but they sound like fun! Enjoy! read more

We opted for the guided tour and it was so totally worth is to have someone direct us to the good spots (and away from droves of bugs that ate up a friend earlier.). Tour guide was super knowledgeable about the local ecosystem which made it all worth it. I would totally go back. Tip - they offer guided tours other than what's posted. Just ask. read more

Myself, my husband and couple of friends visited Narrow River and rented double kayaks for couple of hours in July during our Rhode Island break. We didn't book prior to our visit however the staff was able to accommodate us without any problems. We simply had to wait for 15 min by our car. They are well prepared with hands sanitizers. Be prepared to wear a mask. Staff is friendly and happy to answer any questions. It's a lovely spot. Lake is calm and quite shallow in mostly and it's great to be able to paddle up to the lovely beach and the ocean. We had an amazing time. read more

This is absolutely where you should rent kayaks in RI. It's super reasonably priced ($28 solo kayak for 2 hours, you can also do 4 hours but I forget the price for that) and you have many options for where you can go (up the river, into the nature preserve, down to Narragansett town beach... Or all depending on how long you rent for and how fast you paddle) They also rent paddle boards, canoes, and tandem kayaks too but I've never done any of those. Definitely something for everyone. Friendly helpful staff will make recommendation if you need some pointers on where to paddle to and what to expect. I also noticed when I was there that it looks like they do full moon and sunset paddles, sounds like a fun option. read more

Once of the best places to kayak in RI because it's a manageable scenic paddle down to the ocean beach at the mouth of yhe river. "park" on the sandbar on thre inland side and walk over for a quick swim before packing back. Drawbacks: it's difficult sometimes because of the wind and shallow draft at low tide. Also a lot of walkie talkie traffic at the start to look up your rez, get your boat, etc. If I've already reserved online, why do I need to be asked for my name three times and sign a paper waiver? Just take care of it and have my boats waiting... I would pay more for that! read more

I have been here twice, once a few years ago and once today. I took a different path both times (last time I went into the more nature part (to the left then kept right) and this time we went to the beach (to the left then kept left under the bridge). Both times were lovely. The kids who work here are nice. It is easy to do a nice little trip in the two hour range. If you want to spend time at the beach or do the long ride (when you are on the river you go to the right) go for at least 4 hours. If you are used to an area where you put in then get picked up, this isn't what happens here. You have to get your butt back to the starting point. Overall, we had a good time and I will go back--we may even bring my folks when they are in from Illinois next weekend. Also, they have new kayaks from two years ago. If you have a preference for sit in or sit on top kayaks be sure to let the workers know down by the river. read more

This was so fun! A few friends and I had a Groupon for 2 hours of regular kayaking or four hours tandem. We went with two tandems and had a great time. The staff were friendly and efficient, and even though one person in our party had to assemble a sea kayak, which took a bit longer than anticipated, they happily held our tandems and set us off on the water with instructions for points of interest and suggestions for navigating around shallow areas. One thing I wish I had known before setting out was that you're actually kayaking to a lovely beach! I'm not super familiar with Narraganssett, and I probably should have done some research before setting out, but we had a good time splashing around even though we weren't ready to lay out on the beach. We had the option us using the tandems kayaks for up to four hours, but we were pretty pooped after about 2.5. The next morning I had a couple blisters, but felt totally bad-ass. This is a great way to get some fun exercise and see some beautiful scenery. I highly recommend Narrow River Kayaks for all of your kayaking needs! read more

Found this place on yelp and decided to give it a try because it had good ratings. It is pretty easy to get to and has plenty of parking. The people working there were really nice and knew what they were doing. The prices were pretty reasonable for the SUP. They gave us a 15% discount because we are students. The equipment and life jackets were all clean and in good shape. The water was very calm and clean. It was a very peaceful place with lots of wildlife and pretty waterfront homes. There were a lot of boats, but a lot of the area was no wake zones so it wasn't too bad. Overall, I had a great experience! read more

We had a so-so experience pros: Water is very calm - it's an inlet so it doesn't have waves which would make things more difficult if you were a beginner. The current was strong but overall it would be a fairly calm and safe place for kids or beginners. The boys helping you get your board were very nice and friendly. cons: We paddleboarded and as someone who owns paddleboards I could tell these were not high quality boards. They were very light and unstable in the water. The water way is just not ideal in my opinion. It was so shallow that we had to hop off our boards and walk them to deeper water and then get back on. There were also swarms of gnats and flies that were following us around. Having thousands of bugs all over you doesn't make for a particularly pleasant experience. The older woman who helped us pay was quite unplesant. Overall: Perhaps if we had come when the water was deeper, had a better customer service experience, and not been attacked by bugs then I would come again - but at this point I don't think so read more

Came here on our 3 day vacation to Rhode Island. We decided to do the SUP(paddle boarding). We absolutely loved it. The prices were reasonable for the time you are allowed on the water. The scenic route is so pretty and you pass by many fishermen and other kayakers. The employees were helpful. They gave a brief instruction on how to get on the paddle boards for those who were beginners. The water is shallow in areas in the morning, which is nice if you fall off. My friend and I reserved two kayaks for the first time slot of 9 am to 11 am for the second day of our vacation. We arrived a bit early and were assisted right away and got on the River just about 9. The location is great, we had several options of going upriver, downriver to a bird preserve or out to Narragansett beach. We opted to go downriver to the bird preserve. It was a great paddle, the other options looked great as well. The staff couldn't have been more helpful or personable. When we got back to the facility, there were several groups, including what looked like a group of children from a camp, preparing to depart and it seemed very organized. They appeared to have sufficient equipment in a variety of boats and boards to facilitate a lot of people. The equipment was in great condition and cleanliness seemed to be a top priority. I am a fairly experienced kayaker, but sense that novices would be taken care of very well. I highly recommend this professional operation! read more

I asked NRK if they'd deliver a couple of kayaks and paddleboards to a house we rented for a week, and they were awesome to deal with from start to finish. When they delivered them, I realized they had forgotten something and when I called to let them know, they were apologetic and immediately returned without question even though we were 45 minutes away from their location. We took our 4 and 6 year olds kayaking (first time for all of us) and had an amazing time. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful as we had questions about what type of kayak to choose and where to travel. Initially, we booked two tandems but upon seeing the size of our children, they recommended singles with jump seats for the children. Without asking, they informed us that this option was also less expensive and they refunded the difference in cost. We also felt very safe during this time of Covid. read more

What a wonderful local business! Our tour guide, Ron, took us on a 2 hour ecotour for 'Gansett days. We saw Osprey, a Bald Headed Eagle, Egrets and Blue herons. The eagle was a beautiful sight! I took out an SUP and my uncle was in a kayak. These guys are so friendly and customer-service driven. Awesome experience! Staff was very chill and helpful. Me and 2 friends got a canoe and they gave us a student discount so it was only $34. None of us were super experienced but staff was very helpful and provided basic instructions. It was low tide so we got stuck on a couple sand bars and had to get out and push- but that was all part of the fun! Beautiful scenery, wildlife was incredible. What a nice bunch of people! I went with a group and NRK outfitted everyone with a boat, life vest and paddle and helped us out onto the Narrow River. It is a really lovely place to kayak although nearby power boat owners are rude and deliberately harass the kayakers. I was impressed at how kind the staff were to me and others I observed. Most of these rental places I have encountered, be they bicycles, skating etc., are basically about "pay me and be on your way." The staff at NRK are considerate and helpful. and I say all this even though my personal kayaking performance was a huge disappointment. Of our group, I am the only one who took the "drowned rat" tour! LOL I couldn't stay on that thing to save my life, and at one point I was sure that was the only goal! read more
