We had the best time kayaking! We rented two kayaks at $35/person for 2 hours. The kayaks were clean, the route recommended was beautiful, and we were able to rent same day (a Monday at 11:30 am). This is such a cool business! My boyfriend and I rented a tandem kayak from here last weekend to explore the waters around Jamestown. I called the number listed to see where they were located and the woman informed me she would deliver the kayak to me anywhere on the island! So convenient! Based on her suggestions we decided on Sheffield Cove because the air show was going on and we would be able to see the planes from here. The kayak was a Perception Prodigy- very good quality and sturdy- even with waves from several boats in the harbor we felt safe and sturdy. The rental was reasonably priced at $55 for a half day, the owners were super nice, and the delivery and pick up was very convenient. They also do bike rental if you are looking to explore the island by land. read more

I took my family here for a kayaking afternoon at the Jamestown Marina and was pleasantly surprised to find how well organized the program at Jamestown outdoors was the staff was very helpful and promptly assisted us upon our arrival. Tried them today for the 1st time, my 15 yr old son dropped his glasses in the water right after launch. They could not be more helpful finding them, the girl who works there looked tirelessly! Finally the owners 11 yr old daughter found them in the murky water! We didn't feel like going after that and they offered us a rain check! We rented two paddle boards. Jamestown Outdoors met us at Fort Getty Park and made sure we didn't have to pay the park entry fee. Jason delivered the boards and was really nice and helpful, especially since it was our first time on paddle boards. When we pushed off the shore, the conditions were nice. Within a few minutes the wind kicked up and made paddling difficult (I guess it was a bit of left over wind from Hurricane Arthur). I'm an experienced rower, and I had a hard time fighting the wind. We really didn't get to see much, and we got blown to the opposite side of the bay. Despite being way off course, Jason picked us up and drove us to our original spot. He then fully refunded our money, even though we were out for a couple of hours! We didn't asked to be refunded, he just did it! This guy is seriously building some good karma. How come there aren't more business owners like Jason and his biz partner, Beth? By the way, Beth was incredibly responsive. I left many message and sent emails confirming reservations, and she responded with a call or email within minutes. Seriously, if you want to support good people and responsible business owners, try Jamestown Outdoors. Also, avoid Newport during summer holiday weekends. It's seems everyone from New England thinks Newport is the only vacation idea. The island is ridiculously overcrowded and you're dodging motor boats all the time you're on the water. At Jamestown, the water sports are a lot less congested. read more

We arrived at our scheduled time on a Sunday morning, and Casey was ready and waiting for us. She was helpful and friendly and got us prepped and shoved off in our paddle boards with ease. We spent the weekend in Narragansett and decided to Kayak in Jamestown. The owner is very helpful and friendly, he drove with us to Fort Getty state park and gave us a few pointers on where to kayak. He also set the kayak for us and let us do our thing, no rush or stress about returning the kayak. This spot is your best bet for kayak, bicycle and paddle boarding rentals. We had an excellent experience renting paddle boards from Jamestown Outdoors. We recently moved to Boston and wanted to explore RI. Jamestown is much less commercialized than Newport, RI and is really beautiful. We called Jamestown Outdoors and the women on the phone was extremely helpful and kind. We were able to reserve three paddle boards at the exact time we wanted them in peak season in August. Their store front is amazing and a nice young gentlemen helped us get situated on the boards. The owner recommended paddling over to a taco spot on the beach called The Shack. It was AMAZING food and the perfect thing to paddle to. She even gave us a heads up that they only take cash. Jamestown Outdoors was AWESOME and we would HIGHLY recommend renting from them and exploring the area! read more

Not being very familiar with Beth, the owner, provided us with a map of the island and some helpful hints of where to park for our half day in Sheffields Cove. My husband and I recently took a paddle board lesson with Jason, owner of Jamestown Outdoors, and it was an amazing experience. The equipment, the venue (Ft Getty), and most importantly, the instruction was phenomenal. I'm a total beginner but Jason made it easy. He was knowledgeable and provided a great lesson, as well as a really fun tour around Dutch Harbour. This could not have been a better, easier experience! I called around 10am and said we would love to rent two boats. Beth asked where we would like them delivered, gave us several very cool options as we were not too familiar with the area, and met us, on the dot, at 11:00. She off-loaded two Ocean Kayak sit-on tops, hooked us up with all the gear, ran our card and we were off in 10 minutes. We had an incredible four hours on the water for a very competitive price. Awesome shop. I rented a SUP and they weren't busy (bad weather) so they kindly delivered it to a Mackerel Cove for me. I know they cant always do that but i appreciated the flexibility. My husband, daughter and I rented bikes for the day. We had an awesome experience with this company. The women(owner) who delivered our bikes to us was very friendly and helpful. We had a problem with one of the bike seats on one of the bikes for a few hours. We finally decided to call and ask if they could come and fix the seat. She came within 10 minutes, and tried repairing it. Thought she fixed it and told us to call if we had another problem even if she was a minute down the road. Well that happened. We called her back immediately because the seat still wasn't fixed. She told us she would bring us a bike right away. Within 10-15 minutes we were up and riding again. The women was extremely apologetic and wanted to refund us. We told her it was unnecessary. We just wanted to keep riding. Her customer service was OUTSTANDING. We would rent again from them without a hesitation. read more
